The fresh thrill of discovering an uninhabited atoll tends to fade once such wild life gets cosier with crafted items, buildings, shops and incoming residents, until it looks like a village from the previous iterations. But the larger size of this wholly reshapable island, the customization's vertiginous level and the improved community interactions create an even more fertile ecosystem, hence Animal Crossing can slowly though decidedly stare further, towards New Horizons, equipped with an ever updating NookPhone.

Shadowbringers is simply the best MMO extension ever made, period. The new world to discover is amazing, the story is amazing, the soundtrack is amazing and the updated battle system is amazing. We will only complain about one thing: please Square Enix, fix the way characters are animated during cut-scenes because it is painful to watch in 2019.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is a huge blockbuster as excepted. A sequel that push all the previous limits of the franchise. It's beautiful, full of surprises and action-packed moments that will go down in history. The best Spider-Man outta there and a new reference for PS5 players.

As time goes by, our mind tends to embellish memories of particularly fond moments. That's why we shouldn't embark twice on a journey, hoping to relive the same experience, no matter how wonderful we might remember it because it's often disappointing. However, Wind Waker HD demonstrates the opposite. Not only does its remarkable visual style appear even more vibrant in high definition, but this remake smooths unnecessary digression away, while preserving the freedom and the contemplative aspirations created by this huge world. Therefore, it sets out a truly unforgettable odyssey, both fresh and timeless.

If you own a good PC and are a Tetris fan, you won't be disappointed by Tetris Effect. It's still what can be considered as the strongest installment in the series, thanks to its lavish visuals and unforgettable sound design and tracks. Like its PS5 Pro version, FF7 Rebirth PC allows you to combine Performance and Fidelity, and does so overall better than its console counterpart, at all levels. We can, however, regret the absence of AMD's FSR, Ray Tracing effects or Frame Generation, at least at its launch, as well as some small visual hiccups. The fact that the game is Steam Deck Verified is on the other hand a huge plus. If the compromises of the original PS5 put you off or if you were waiting for it to come out on PC to enjoy it in the best possible conditions, the latest game in Square Enix's flagship franchise is overall clearly worth the investment.

It’s a must-do masterpiece if you’ve never had the time to try it before. This fully optimized version on PS5 is a feast for the eyes and ears. There is nothing to throw away, especially since in addition to being sublime, the game is incredible, we know that. For fans of the license, many bonuses (developer comments, deleted levels, etc.) are also included. The roguelike mode does the job very well, even if it is only playable solo. It will certainly kill you for a few extra hours if it is not really essential. But when the job is done very well, why sulk? The same will not be said of the mode which allows you to play the guitar freely, which will only appeal to serious enthusiasts. The Last of Us 2 Remastered is therefore unmissable if you have never touched the game, but if you own the original game on PS4, although it will only cost you around ten euros, it is difficult to recommend, except for early fans obviously.

Brotherhood isn't trying to make easy money. One can surely grunt at the lack of mythology revelations and average story (but still unmissable for the fan) of the campaign, but its gameplay has been improved in almost every way. It's massive (at least 12 hours if you're not trying to get everything), and rich with a lot of new stuff, both small and big (starting with the assassin's guild mechanics). We'll see in the long run if its multiplayer will prove to have more strengths than weaknesses, but it's already, and unmistakably, one of the most refreshing experiences of late, with games that are an inspiration for ruse, cold-blood, and cunning.

Efforts have been reduced to a minimum, with no additionnal content whatsoever, and there are even some technical shortcomings (frame rate drops on MGS2 and 3). The DLC draws a great deal of inspiration from action cinema, and exploits every string with brio. It's all carried off by the presence of Idris Elba, an ultra-charismatic actor who shines on screen here. It's just a pity that his character, like other interesting supporting characters, is not exploited to the full. Similarly, Phantom Liberty as a whole doesn't go far enough. Leaving aside Update 2.0, which is available to all without the need to buy DLC, the new features can be counted on the fingers of one hand. Like every massive monument, Fire Emblem: Three Houses has been built slowly, but surely. The candid though deep links established in the monastery, theatre of a true student life with plentiful lessons and occupations, are used to express the canevas' dramatic intent, exceptionally dark. And this dense universe features an unprecedented scope, also displayed by the scale of battles lead in unison on large maps, resolutely overpopulated. Then the accent put on human relations and the natural, if not organic aspect of the peregrinations resulting from the gameplay evolutions almost appear to push the tactical dimension into the background. This episode is nonetheless based on its imposing heritage of principles, wisely refined to make the whole experience more coherent. Never did the series deploy such opulence, while giving the choice to discover the extent of its richness freely, whatever one's teaching implication degree. I can't wait for a follow-up that could be freed from the constraints that clearly limited what the developers ambitionned to deliver originally... because Deus Ex Human Revolution still marks the return of true cyberpunk in videogames. Let's pray it doesn't leave us again for another 10 years.

A solid Tower Defense, with nice production values and perfect gameplay balance. Probably one of the better games of its genre, with a surprising ability not to bore the player during the waves of ennemies.

L.A. Noire is undoubtedly a foray into a new kind of adventure game, and most specifically of investigation games. Beyond the technology, which is not perfect but still breathtaking, its a brilliant example of actors' talent and humanity, both at the service of gameplay. With polished writing and a tight plot, and well-described atmosphere, it's easy to overlook some of its shortcomings in order to dream of the future it gives a glimpse of. A title that we'll remember years from now.

Death Stranding 2 isn't a great game, but a great work of art, far from the usual blockbusters. In more ways than one, it's not the kind of experience that everyone puts their hands on. You need to have a discerning eye, an open mind, and a certain curiosity for oddities, in addition to accepting that its structure and gameplay loop are absolutely redundant. If you approach it like any other title, it can be long, even boring at times, too easy certainly, and lazy in many ways. But the real experience lies elsewhere: in its concept of sharing and hyper connection, as well as in its deserted open world that we dress up with our creations while trying to put the pieces of a fractured and frightened humanity back together. It is also found in its convoluted main plot and its universe, which is difficult to approach but intriguing, and which keeps us on the edge of our seats until the end. It's a AAA UFO that sometimes goes overboard and doesn't particularly seek to please everyone, but it should still leave a lasting impression in one way or another. Love it, adore it, or hate it, Death Stranding 2 will leave no one unmoved. And just to be able to achieve such a contrast is art.

Resident Evil 9 Requiem is certainly one of the best games in the franchise, and for a very simple reason : it is the ultimate mutation of a formula that has evolved over many years of research, experimentation, successes, and failures. It is the synthesis of an entire series, from its main titles to its many offshoots spread across nearly 30 years of existence. Two experiences in one that come together to form a whole that will keep us on the edge of our seats from start to finish, despite some pacing issues and a few missteps along the way, though these are quickly offset by well-executed fan service and brilliant execution.

It's hard not to fall for such an offer, of 3 great games for less than a full retail HD game. But at the same time, one can't help but notice some lazyness in the remastering process. Efforts have been reduced to a minimum, with no additionnal content whatsoever, and there are even some technical shortcomings (frame rate drops on MGS2 and 3). For the nostalgia, for the collection, for the fans, or those who never had the chance to play them, it's still a cult saga with memorable sequences.

Anticipation for Dead Space 2 was especially high. It could have gone to the dark side, forgetting about those moments when the tension rises... and nothing is clearly shown. But for the best, it was able to keep its soul intact. And by raising the bar in all aspects (production values, horror, pace), it appears as the definitive master of the survival/horror genre.

A masterpiece of a conclusion. Sure, from a gameplay perspective, the same things can be said of this last episode than of previous ones (i.e. it's not perfect), but the writing, the emotions, the story, everything is so powerful and spot-on on that front that one could consider Telltale's game as the first true next-gen one: not from a technical standpoint, mind you, but from an emotional one.

Chair took everyone by surprise with the first episode. This follow-up strengthens the basics, and adds up to the formula with deeper tactical elements in its combat, and more variety (alternate routes, etc.), even though the concept remains the same. For this price, it's a good experience to be had, but mind the fact that it's designed for the latest gen iOS platforms, and may not be as pretty or fluid on previous ones.

For all of those who were doubting it, rest assured: Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker is very much a true MGS... but most importantly a true game! The saga's DNA is everywhere in this title, and it's been expanded so much, that this adventure gets a distinctive taste of its own. Less interactive movie, and more game than ever, there are so many modes, bonuses, and other elements to unlock as you play that it's almost unbelievable. The Monster Hunter's influence is clear, and it's a blessing for Kojima's game. To the point that between the management of your Mother Base, your equipment, and your troops, the game even becomes addictive for other things than its solo campaign. No doubt, this is a major episode in the series, for its overwhelming content, its level of quality, and the power of its story. And the platform it has been released on as well : a strong signal sent to the industry, that portable devices are becoming more and more important, from Japan to our part of the world.

If the first opus was as much about Henry's youth as Warhorse Studios', Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is in many ways a game of maturity for both of them. This sequel is indeed more accomplished in many areas, such as its fascinating story thanks to an excellent writing, its better-refined technical and artistic aspects, or its impressive immersion in a realistic Middle Age. If you loved the first game, you are certainly going to enjoy this one. For newcomers, however, you will have a bit of a hard time at the beginning in order to fully appreciate the great strengths of this “historical” open-world RPG, truly unique in its category, even if a little too familiar compared to its big brother.

A gem of sublime darkness. In the same way that an infamous ring did poison the soul of the one wearing it, this game becomes both the burden and the treasure of the one playing it. Cruel, even more so than its predecessor from which it keeps almost everything, Dark Souls offers a singular atmosphere, one where the player is prey, gambles its life with each step he dares to take, and its sanity every time he makes progress towards more evil that can kill him in a single strike. If you feel crazy enough to dive in, though, Dark Souls will possess you like very few can: it's a drug, and it's in the poison it exudes that lies its virtue.

We are also already promised free updates, a first monster has been confirmed for spring 2025, a tab for event quests is already waiting for players and we know that collaborations will take place. Clearly, Monster Hunter Wilds is one of the rare games that already manages to make us love what's coming, without even knowing what we're going to have to deal with. Extremely generous from start to finish, it improves and modernizes a recipe that has already proven itself and won over millions of players. Modern Warfare 3 concludes the trilogy with a solo campaign that goes beyond my expectations, and a multiplayer with subtle yet efficient revisions. It boasts better balancing and takes into account the supportive players more than ever compared to the regular solo guns blazing hero. Quite comprehensive, it also re-introduces the beloved Spec Ops mode, and the launch of Call of Duty Elite grants him the best available service in that category. Even though in terms of production values, and scope of the competitive multiplayer, Battlefield 3 harms Activision's champion, it remains a title that is firmly anchored to its traditional strengths, and doesn't get lazy.
