Monster Hunter Wilds continues the momentum of Monster Hunter World to offer a more open and fluid experience than ever. Thanks to its vast expansive areas, we have even more the feeling of evolving in credible and living ecosystems to enjoy its original bestiary. Besides that, Monster Hunter Wilds improves the well-oiled gameplay of the series by adding new movements for each of the 14 weapons and especially the focus mode which really changes the way of approaching hunting. And if we can salute the care given to the rather nice story, we can still regret that this new episode does not better accompany new players to discover the codes of the saga, once again. Despite this, one thing is certain, it has never been as pleasant to get into Monster Hunter as it is today.

Under its thick features and its childish airs, Chicory shelters very tough challenges. Together, creator Greg Lobanov (Wandersong) and composer Lena Raine (Celeste) have managed to shape a universe generous in exploration, discovery and obstacles to overcome, offering a completely correct lifespan. If you don't want to take the time to solve the ingenious puzzles that present themselves to you, you will have the leisure to get involved freely in the other small quests of the adorable world of Picnic, populated by its charming animals. On the other hand, let's repeat it, the adventure will be much better if you opt for the keyboard.

Tekken 8 is full of excitement and we loved it! Technically, in both substance and form, the Bandai Namco fighting game is a gem of the genre. If it sometimes lacks a little originality in terms of content, but there is still a lot of it, it all makes it one of the best 3D fighting games of recent years. Its new features in terms of gameplay are enough to stand out from previous opuses and hold its own against its competitors, all with vast content that is still substantial enough to play for dozens of hours. And as long as you are addicted to online confrontations, Tekken 8 really has something to satisfy and challenge you for a very, very long time! The whole is also served by an absolutely magnificent production which immediately immerses you in extremely aggressive and intense battles.

With Endwalker, Final Fantasy XIV definitely proves that it deserves its place in the pantheon of the best episodes of the saga. It's simple, this new expansion brilliantly succeeds in concluding the narrative arc of Hydaelyn and Zordiarche thanks to strong moments sublimated by dungeons and epic challenges. Despite a rhythm that knows a few lengths, the adventure provides many satisfactory answers and benefits from visually successful environments as well as a high-end soundtrack that allow us to forget the dated technique inherent in this kind of game. extension which therefore does not include any major new features, but rather additions such as new jobs and many more than welcome adjustments. Now, we can't wait: to find out what Naoki Yoshida and his teams are preparing for the next patches and the future of Final Fantasy XIV.

Alan Wake 2 is a completely unique adventure, an “author's game” that goes beyond the boundaries of video games... The Remedy studio appropriates here all the forms of art that it loves so much, moving from experience video game to live-action film, or from concert to photography. Clear-cut biases which give it all its charm, but which - on the contrary - can also be off-putting. What's more, as a video game, this second episode is not free of flaws either, and we regret jump scares that are a little too present and an open construction that quickly goes in circles. For the rest, it is a remarkable adventure, if not memorable.

Falcom has had a successful run with Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter! By giving itself the means to achieve its ambitions, the Japanese studio delivers an ideal remake to discover its flagship franchise. Thanks to an excellent combat system, polished graphics, and above all, a successful French translation, the first adventures of Estelle and Joshua are more captivating and accessible than ever. And while the story is driven by a fascinating universe and endearing characters, we can still criticize that it takes a while to get going and suffers from some lengths. Now, we can't wait to discover the remake of the next episode, which is considered one of the best installments in the saga and is already in the pipeline...

After the sublime Gris, Nomada Studio is back with an action-adventure game that, under its appearance of an ecological fable with a young woman and her wolf, actually has a much heavier message. And we liked the way Neva took us by surprise. The latest baby from the Spanish team also comes back with a superb artistic direction, where the nature full of details contrasts with the “emptiness” of certain passages, marked by a surrealism that echoes Gris… In Neva, Nomada also offers - for the first time - action-adventure phases and does more than well. The demons that Alba must face give rise to gripping action phases, well staged, where a certain tension reigns (without ever falling into an excessive challenge). A very beautiful adventure that we recommend.

Sea of Stars has everything from an excellent tribute to the biggest names in Japanese role-playing games of the 90s. A well-paced story, a cast of characters to which we quickly become attached for their assumed personalities. It manages to do the same amazing job as its role models, thanks to its jaw-dropping art direction and adventure-perfect soundtrack. If the fights are engaging and push the player to think about each confrontation, they tend to lengthen the good dynamics of the title. It is especially by the lack of evolution of gameplay for the characters that the players will be able to find a certain weariness. If Sea of Stars is therefore not as revolutionary as its spiritual masters in their time, it should still have a place of choice on a shelf of your toy library in 2023. It may well establish itself as the independent game of the year if Silksong remains discreet or even claim prices from much fiercer competition. More than a great performance for a UFO from the 90s.

Before calling it a masterpiece (the real challenge will be Rebirth), we can certainly acknowledge the remarkable achievement of Square Enix and Naoki Hamaguchi's team. Yes, storage space and the Game Key Card format might be an issue for some, but that shouldn't distract us from the final result: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade fits on the Nintendo Switch 2 and looks fantastic (if you don't scrutinize it too closely)! For the publisher, it's a successful gamble: the game is visually stunning (overall), it made compromises where necessary without compromising the experience, and, above all, it delivers the same feel and enjoyment as the original release. If you've never played it, there's no excuse now, as it's a must-have for the Nintendo Switch 2 library.

With Xenoblade Chronicles 3, the Nintendo Switch welcomes a new essential role-playing game in its catalog. Far from the lightness of tone of the second episode, the title delivers a captivating scenario, rich in twists and emotions, aided by a beautiful soundtrack. By taking up the basics of the two previous games, the gameplay gains in dynamism and benefits from many effective and complex mechanics, even if the fights suffer from readability problems like the other games in the series. And if the exploration through vast panoramas remains as pleasant as ever, this pleasure is still affected by a technique which displays visual shortcomings on several occasions. Like the first episode, Death Stranding 2 is a game that will divide opinion, but not for the same reasons. Kojima Productions delivers a more mainstream sequel here, both in terms of writing and gameplay, and purists may miss the roughness of the 2019 title. But what DS2 loses in "personality", it gains in pace and variety. Progression is more generous and stimulating than in the past, and the action-infiltration phases accompany very well a gameplay loop that is still as gripping, based on delivery and movement optimization. And then, what can we say about the technique and artistic direction, which are of very high quality! In short, Death Stranding 2 is excellent, but is it a great game? Edmund McMillen's new project (developed with Tyler Glaiel) embodies everything I've been hoping for in the roguelite genre, and even more so in the tactical RPG genre: colossal content, a combat system of unparalleled depth, and above all, a sense of discovery that never fades. On top of all that, the game is an exceptional generator of stories that can appeal to both seasoned gamers and newcomers alike. Of course, you have to appreciate the creator's distinctive art style and not be afraid of game overs. Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a title with a unique and interesting proposition, but which is not intended for everyone. By putting player autonomy at the heart of the experience, Capcom's game offers a feeling of freedom and a pleasure of exploration enhanced by brilliant gameplay and a pawn system that is still fascinating. But this immersion at all costs gives rise to uncomfortable, but voluntary, design choices in order to make this adventure credible. However, the experience still suffers from certain real flaws, such as its overly classic and not always clear quests, its sometimes messy combat and especially its numerous slowdowns on console. In short, Dragon's Dogma will delight those who play the game with its unique and uncompromising proposition, surely leaving aside those too accustomed to the comfort of modern games.

Doom Eternal: this is a big "yes", a destructive trance to which we get attached very quickly, which offers us a biblical story revisited very interesting and gameplay of incredible nervousness. A true ode to fast-FPS, immersive, which offers, over a more than honest lifespan, smart, intense battles and a memorable and varied hell dive. An apnea from which you only come out to rest your eyes, your heart, your mind ... and catch your breath!

Addictive, varied, precise, coherent, relevant, Rogue Legacy 2 serves as the ideal sequel to the cult 2013 game that popularized rogue-lite. But more than doing better on absolutely every level (classes, weapons, traits), the Cellar Door Games studio is setting a new benchmark in the genre thanks to a clever mix of metroidvania and randomly generated levels. It's simple, the whole thing works like hell. Never frustrating, always giving the feeling of moving forward, constantly reviving the pleasure of the game with different powers and heroes to embody, Rogue Legacy 2 returns and marks the rogue-lite with a red iron. One of the best games of 2022.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles is an exceptional video game, but it's not a video game for everyone. It belongs to the niche of turn-based tactical RPGs and is much more demanding than Fire Emblem, for example. The fact remains that almost 30 years later, it remains a must-have for the quality of its writing, especially since it finally benefits from an impeccable French translation and a high-quality dubbing cast. In addition, players willing to invest their time will discover, piece by piece, an excellent combat system that reveals its richness at every moment of the adventure. With Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, we just want Square Enix to revive this series of exceptional games.

The one and only tangible addition to the studio is a rather messy and cumbersome experience and challenge system that won't get you much except cosmetic items in the hundreds. The pleasure and the sensations are there. But it would have taken a little more to make an impression.

Building on an already very good first episode, Horizon Forbidden West hits the stars, becoming a true culmination for the Guerrilla Games studio formula but also for the “classic” open world genre in general. Fascinating from start to finish, with a universe with sumptuous artistic direction, better written and directed, and more engaging from the point of view of combat and exploration, the title is almost irreproachable on everything that he undertakes, showing attention to detail at every moment. In addition, Horizon Forbidden West even has the luxury of being both excellent on PS5, PS4 Pro but also PS4 Fat, thanks to exemplary cross-generation work. We can only regret a final conclusion that was a little quickly dispatched, and a lack of major new features. Not enough to spoil the wonderful adventure that awaits in the prohibited West. A truly exceptional title.

Thanks to careful porting, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim on Switch is a great way to (re)discover this Japanese sci-fi nugget, whether in TV mode or on the go. With its amazing proposal halfway between the visual novel and the tactical role-playing game, Vanillaware manages to tell an exciting story through its many branches and its original progression system. Beyond its narration, the game does not forget to stage strategically rich and relaxing battles despite austere graphics, far from the beauty of the hand-drawn visuals of the adventure mode. A title not to be missed therefore for all lovers of Japanese games and SF, both on PS4 and on Nintendo's hybrid console.

Comfortable in the exercise of style imposed by the time loop, the artists of Arkane signed with Deathloop a very good FPS that is as interesting as it is wacky. More action-oriented than a Dishonored, Bethesda's title quickly reaches a level of depth but also of complexity that is rare even for a work by Arkane. The repetitive aspect necessarily linked to the theme of the game is intelligently lessened by the variety of situations, the chance of encounters (with Julianna) and the rise in power. Enjoying a concept of loop without running out of time, Deathloop encourages experiments of all kinds in a universe that contrasts drastically with what the people of Lyon have already produced. And it's good to see that the studio doesn't sing us the same song ... over and over.

It does not suffer from any slowdown and its overall quality remains very high, regardless of the configuration used. Thus, this PC version of Miles Morales is a golden opportunity to discover or rediscover the adventures of the spider-man, in particular thanks to its excellent gameplay and its very good handling. A grandiose Manhattan, a difficulty in the hair and a lifespan quite acceptable for a game of the genre, you will not regret your purchase.

Metroid Dread is exceptional in every way, placing itself as one of the best episodes in a series that already has no shortage of nuggets! By mixing the phases of action and infiltration, the game developed by Mercury Studios constantly keeps the player in suspense. But beyond its structure and its exploration aspect, it is the fluidity of the gameplay that stuck us to the ceiling, with a Samus more agile and twirling than ever and a difficulty that forces us to juggle these many capacities in many situations. Whether you are a newbie or a fan of the series, Metroid Dread is a must-have for any Nintendo Switch owner.

Monster Hunter Rise is an excellent vintage. In the continuity of its predecessor, it makes hunting more pleasant and accessible than ever thanks to new gameplay features that boost the experience, from exploration to combat against these formidable monsters that we still enjoy facing. and even. The essence of the franchise remains intact, with this inherently redundant formula that will not appeal to everyone, but which shows itself so absorbing once tamed, whether alone or with others. A title that has the potential to occupy you for hundreds of hours, especially since Capcom intends to make you come back regularly with the addition of free content.

As expected, Paper Mario: The Millennium Door HD follows the same path as the original 2004 version. This remastered version maintains the excellence of its pen with a cast of characters each as striking as the next with a combat system that has already proven itself. The modernized artistic direction works wonders, both visually and aurally. But form is not everything. The structure of the game can quickly weigh on anyone who is allergic to the multiple forced back and forth, especially since the features to relieve this archaic architecture are too little impactful to relieve its heaviness. In short, Paper Mario: The Millennium Door HD remains the best way to discover the best of Mario RPGs when it is released on May 23, 2024 on Nintendo Switch. But we must keep in mind that it also risks tarnishing the wonderful memories that some people have of it.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is everything we could have expected from a sequel, and more. Warhorse Studios delivers in 2025 an RPG that is solid on its foundations and striking in its visual and playful realism. With its authentic combat and “organic” progression, the game published by Deep Silver is unrivaled in fully immersing us in a breathtaking feudal Bohemia. Unfortunately, this sequel is not without its flaws, starting with its restrictive save system, several technical problems and especially its sometimes improvable playful narration. The fact remains that this Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a singularity in the current landscape that should be applauded and encouraged.
