The potential of the video camera, a central tool for solving puzzles, is partially thrown to the winds due to a puzzle structure that remains the same from beginning to end. What remains is still a game with a good atmosphere, which perfectly embodies - at least in the first part - the spirit of cinematographic films, also thanks to some clever and exquisite workmanship.

Batman Arkham City Lockdown is the dark side of Infinity Blade, and that's not cool as it could seem. It has an excellent presentation, thanks to the Unreal Engine, but that can't compensate for the lack of variety which the gameplay offers. We love Batman, but it deserves a bit more than this poor treatment, mainly because its price is quite high.

Ultimately, our encounter with The Last Case of Benedict Fox gave us mixed feelings. On the one hand we find an interesting plot, embellished with some tasty twists and framed by an extremely fascinating setting. On the other side of the fence, however, we find an approximate technical realization and a general lack of refinement in the gameplay, defects that end up compromising the overall enjoyment of the work. The new Plot Twist project has been part of the Game Pass catalog since day one: for this reason we still feel like recommending it, at least to a certain extent, to fans of the genre who subscribe to the service. To all the others, however, despite the title being offered at a budget price, we suggest waiting for any patches that can at least solve the most obvious problems. In its properly finished form, The Last Case of Benedict Fox could in fact aspire to much higher qualitative peaks.

Man of Medan keeps himself afloat thanks to an atmosphere full of charm, to a sufficiently original multiplayer structure and to a valuable sense of investigative discovery that supports the limited exploration. However, the numerous possibilities of choice are not always adequately supported by an all too predictable script and by a recourse to a rather mannerist horror, which in the long run ends up reducing tension.

Enjoyable to play and absolutely beautiful to look at, Trek to Yomi is a perfect homage to a piece of Japanese film history and culture. Linked as much to the world of the living as to the land of the dead, the protagonist's journey does not offer particularly surprising narrative implications, but despite this it lets itself be followed and is the backdrop to a playful and audiovisual experience in the name of historical fidelity. Rich in breathtaking views and long shots capable of enhancing an exploratory component not free from imperfections and the beauty of very evocative scenarios, Leonard Menchiari's adventure has been able to intrigue us with his combat system which, while relying on choices that are not always in focus, made you feel like real samurai. Fans of Kurosawa's works, as well as those looking for a style full of style but with more staid rhythms, would do well to wear the kimono and leave with Hiroki.

The inspired settings and the tactical element at the base of the gunplay are certainly appreciable but fail to make Scars Above go beyond the boundaries of sufficiency. Many of the errors and lightness are due to the youth of the development studio, which was still able to define a credible and in-depth lore and a complete but not fully satisfactory plot. If you have an immoderate passion for space and science fiction cinema, you might consider the idea of accompanying Kate on her journey but, if not, the reasons that should push you to try it are considerably reduced.

Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One is a pleasant tale of origins and investigation, which continues the extremely intimate and introspective approach of Frogwares towards the character created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The game often stumbles upon the narrative errors of its predecessor, not delving sufficiently into some crucial ideas in the epilogue of the adventure. The meticulous management of clues, deductions and exploration linked to the cases to be solved makes the work a satisfying product for fans of the famous English investigator, as long as you turn a blind eye to a graphic sector that at times is somewhat obsolete.

Outcast A New Beginning offers sometimes interesting alien settings, the backdrops to an overall enjoyable story, albeit lacking in peaks of excellence. In addition to the technical stumbles, the game combines cutscenes and dubbing that aren't always up to par, repetitive tasks that are generally very simple in structure, as well as battles that lose their bite due to the limits of the AI that moves our opponents. Furthermore, the progression thrives on phlegmatic rhythms, which do not go well with the fun exploratory possibilities offered by the use of the jetpack. He's still faithful to the hit-and-run approach, to quick matches, to "I'll play the last match and then I'll stop". The single player campaign, although simple in structure, is entertaining enough, while local games with friends can be addictive. The variety of players and teams guaranteed by the official licenses is good and the graphics are essential, with some rough edges, but also characteristic. Unfortunately, online multiplayer is very problematic at the moment and we hope that the experts can work to improve the situation as soon as possible.
