Mutant Year Zero is a turn based strategy role playing adventure set in a world after the nuclear war. It captures the player with its main characters, world building, good sense of humor and an unforgiving combat. It has its flaws in the form of replayability, and lack of skill depth, but the overall impressions are very positive. Recommended even for the people that are not too much into this genre, and for those who are, it’s a no brainer.- PLAY! Zine

Although not without its flaws, the everlasting quality of this game cannot be overlooked. New graphics, magnificent world, great characterization, good story and phenomenal music, make this old school gem a blast to play. Clunky gunplay and controls can stand in the way sometimes, but overall, they are not enough to ruin the experience of traversing through Adelpha.- PLAY! Zine

If you are a Danganronpa fan, this is a title to shake up the genre we don’t see much of nowadays. We have yet to see how much the choices really matter, but if you focus on storytelling and the acting, the music, and the fresh approach to these types of games – you're in for a treat. Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is an epic medieval RPG that excels in immersion, both in its narrative and historical setting. Sometimes the former two hold it back from being the best RPG of the year. The game is a slave to its mechanics and systems, some of which feel tedious and slow, and the combat is, at least for me, punishing and clumsy – as if I’m awkwardly puppeteering Henry from behind, flailing his arms in battle. Two Point Campus is a great experience that learns from its predecessor and makes the game a bit less micromanagey, fun, and vividly fresh with every new campus and game you play. You can be the principal not only of a generic university but a lot more, including schools of magic, espionage and knighthood. If that is not fun, then what is!?- PLAY! Zine

Although it might look like just another Souls clone set in a 2D environment, Salt and Sanctuary manages to almost effortlessly transition the familiar gameplay into a different dimension. The gameplay is deep, offering multitude of combat options and as rewarding as it was in Dark Souls.- PLAY! Zine

Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighbourville is a stellar dive into hero shooter waters for PopCap. With its great level design, great multiplayer and ton of content, it overcomes some of its flaws like lack of campaign and is sure to give tons of hours of PvE and PvP fun.- PLAY! Zine

Even if it looks like it came from the Commodore 64 era, the second season of The Last Door is a chilling adventure with a haunting soundtrack. It is a Lovecraftesque journey from mental asylums to opium dens, a proper horror game that refrains from using cheap scare tactics.- PLAY! Zine

Kona is taking the best elements from the walking simulators, survival games and classic adventure games and putting them all in one place. It relies heavily on the setting and the atmosphere of isolation and even builds a nice little detective story on top of that.- PLAY! Zine

A DLC that has all rights to be considered a proper expansion, The Following adds so much to Dying Light that it almost feel like a proper standalone game. This is a great example of how DLC should be made - with new map, incredibly fun addition of vehicles and even improving upon the familiar gameplay.- PLAY! Zine

Even though the grappling system is slowed down and pre-fight sequences lack the familiar trash talking, UFC 2 is a great transition of sport into the digital realm. It is the closest we've been to feeling how it is to fight inside the octagon.- PLAY! Zine

The first Atelier series to follow a singular character throughout its trilogy is coming to an end. The gameplay is still the same at its core and still very enjoyable, but it features some refreshing new mechanics. Overall, Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key is a worthy finale for such an iconic series.- PLAY! Zine

This is still that good fighting game from last year, without any significant additions nor massive changes besides new characters and cosmetics. With improved netcode and all balance fixes NetherRealm has released so far, Mortal Kombat XL is nearly a flawless victory.- PLAY! Zine

Frostpunk shakes up the often cheery or stale genre of City Building games with a dystopian background, survival elements, and involved decision making. With the right fixes of the game’s technical faults and (much) more content, Frostpunk could be a new staple for city builders looking for something different.- PLAY! Zine
