Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is the perfect conception of what a sequel should be, a frenetic title with third-person action that never lets up and with additions based on very fun and entertaining game modes that give the title great replayability.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 does its legendary setting justice, offering a high-quality cinematic campaign that is a wild ride to blast through, and it only gets better if you bring a few friends to watch your back. Add to that the clever Operation side stories, the competitive Eternal War multiplayer, and the promise of a dedicated (and free) Horde Mode on the horizon, and Space Marine 2 sets a benchmark for 40k games worthy of its own storied, illustrious lore.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II manages to become one of the great surprises of 2024 with a title that will delight veterans of the saga and newcomers who love action. Its way of including strategy in frenetic combats joins its brilliant technical finish and a bombproof performance to sow the ground on which Saber Interactive presents a proposal that you can enjoy alone, with friends and with unknown players. The game's mime to the original game and the inclusion of the Operations and Eternal War modes end up making a rounded experience that does well everything that today seems to be avoided in the industry.

Visually stunning and featuring a cinematic campaign, Space Marine 2 is the brutal shooter that many franchise fans have been waiting for. Its short and linear campaign is balanced by cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes, which breathe life into a game that is not very accessible in terms of narrative.

Warhamer 40,000 Space Marine II lives between two worlds: on one hand, it's a kind of game that no longer exists; direct, wild and unpretentious. And on the other, it tries to adapt to current trends, not without some clumsiness. But that's really the least of it; you are here to cut tyranids in half with a chainsword… And no one does it better.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is as brutal and bloodthirsty as its predecessor. It has solid mechanics, even if they are uninventive and quite repetitive, and it's full of clichés. However, it's a typical action game that works thanks to its simplicity and because it gets straight to the point: massacre some aliens without asking too many questions.

Solo players are likely to be left wondering what happened over all those years. [Issue#403, p.112]
