In what it proposes, F1 23 is virtually perfect. Keeping the graphic strength and refinement of mechanics that worked well in the previous game, it brought back a narrative mode that, along with an interface overhaul and quality of life, only improves what was already amazing.

F1 23 is pretty much a faultless racing experience. While its career mode may be lacking in innovations this year, the return of Braking Point and the new F1 World mode more than make up for it. Add in other improvements and features, and you have what is undoubtedly the best F1 game yet. If you’re an F1 fan this is an absolute must-buy as usual, but even racing game fans in general would be wise to add this to their collection. With its wealth of content, brilliant handling and sublime presentation, F1 23 is simply racing at its finest.

There’s no doubt that the F1 series feels like a yearly iterative experience, but Codemasters has done an outstanding job with F1 23 because it improves upon last year’s title in almost every way. The increased accessibility options, enhanced driving mechanics, and welcome return of the Braking Point story mode are all steps in the right direction for the Formula 1 gaming community.

F1 23 is another improvement over the previous game, with refined mechanics and new experiences that will please any racing fan. Not only that, but it makes it clear that upcoming games in the F1 franchise cannot be lacking in content that generates more engagement, hitting the nail on the head with F1 World and, most importantly, Braking Point 2. Any new F1 game that does not have these features will be considered a step backwards.

The new benchmark for the Codemasters saga? F1 23 via the breath of EA Sports releases the best vintage in terms of content for the license, especially thanks to the addition of the F1 World mode. Even if you are not really well guided towards the latter, it will fill many hours of your time with its many well-renewed challenges and quests. A lack now filled for the Formula 1 saga, which is still going around in circles in the animations and its technical rendering. The 2023 opus is a great gateway to the world of single-seaters, with the bonus of the continuation of Point de Rupture, the rather interesting Drive to Survive scenario.

While the last year’s game was a transitional release, this year’s sequel brings a spectacle-filed singleplayer campaign and ambitious focus on more live service challenges and professional league racing. While it does not master all aspects of its driving and presentation, it is another in the line of very solid racing titles from Codemasters that can satisfy both longtime fans and newcomers alike.

Braking Point 2.0 does offer some solid (if sometimes cringe-inducing) drama, the driving mechanics and presentation continue to impress, and generally, to an outlier, this is one fabulous F1 game. However, resting on your laurels only gets you so far, and F1 23 has failed to move the needle in regards to making F1 games even more compelling than they already are. By all means, pick up and relish another core EA and Codemasters F1 outing, but it's time the series stopped playing it safe and gave us something audaciously new.

Customization still isn’t as granular as it could be.

    Thoughts-
All in all, F1 23 is the perfect jumping-on point for any would-be racing enthusiast considering investigating the Codemasters-developed series. With a remarkable sense of detail and unmatched controls across the franchise, the learning curve isn’t quite as steep with upgrades that ultimately help to stabilize the handling of the vehicles on the track as well as measured difficulty options. Additionally, there’s a wondrous sense of community as the popularity of the sport reaches new heights in the 2023 season. And with this latest release, there’s plenty of content to sink your teeth into between the campaign and both single and multiplayer challenges within F1 World. F1 23 is poised to be the biggest entry in the series yet.

That there alone makes it a superior experience to the last F1 game. I couldn't stand those garbage boat handling physics from F1 22. Speaking of which, the supercars handling remain unchanged. They still feel like boats and make that weird acceleration noise. Yeah I get it, it's a bonus feature but that doesn't excuse the supercars being lazily designed. They either get it right or get rid of that stupid gimmick. I complained about the lack of story mode in F1 22 and the developers actually listened. While F1 23 Braking Point story is pretty mediocre, I can at least say I enjoyed it more than the typical arty farty "I'm so miserable" trash like TLOU and TLOU: Kratos Edition.

The multiplayer is better now thanks to the improved traction. On top of that, I didn't experience all those connection issues like F1 22. Although, this game is pretty much the same as the last. The $70 price tag is outrageous. I have also experienced some bugs and a few pop-in issues. While facial animations are AAA quality, there are some unnatural expressions in the cutscenes. Speaking of which, it infuriates me that a greedy company like EA can put so much effort in cutscenes and voice acting in a freaking F1 game than most full-priced games this generation. It just goes to show how greedy and lazy the video game industry has gotten. I would recommend this game until it's like less than $30.

Breaking point is useless, boring and cringe, the objectives are the same in all the story. There are the new car skins and new transfers but nothing else.
This game in not worth 80 € at all.

As with any game EA Sports get their hands on, it is a buggy and unfinished lazy mess. Career Mode and My Team, the two most popular modes have been copied and pasted to the exact minor detail other than a couple of cutscenes which haven't even been optimised properly. Red Flags, which were disgustingly sold as a big new feature despite being such a minute and necessary thing for an F1 Game to have, do not even work properly, with race results being destroyed by their inclusion. I would love to know how it is acceptable to release a game at such steep prices when it so incomplete? This error can not have been an oversight, the game was released knowing full well the issue existed. Furthermore the game seems to be heading in a direction where EA Sports can extract the most amount of profit out of users (As with the majority of their games), with useless customisation options also costing real money. On a slight positive note the handling of cars has improved and allows controller players a better experience. Breaking Point was a strange inclusion following its absence in last years game, and is incredibly underwhelming, with most challenges involving the same mindless script. I do wonder wether this game mode was intended for last years game as I find it baffling not one of the challenges involves a red flag, seeing the importance they placed on it. I hold my breath on F1 World as for the time being it seems like a decent concept and one of the only reasons this score isn't lower. However it reminds me of Ultimate Team modes on other EA Sports games and I hate to think in what way this may be heading given the company's track record of micro transactions. In my opinion steer well clear of F1 23 unless the corrected drivers and liveries are worth £70 of importance to you. Expand
