Being fans of LEGO and puzzle games, we wanted to love LEGO Bricktales. We’ve found it very hard to do so, however. Crashes are one thing, but when the gameplay itself is hampered by fiddly controls and the feeling of repetition, there’s not a great deal of fun to be had.- GameSpew

If you’ve got a lot of patience and don’t mind games that are very slow-paced, Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travelers might be worth a look. After all, thanks to its short playing time, it doesn’t require too much investment. Most JRPG fans will find it not entirely fulfilling though. It should be applauded for trying something a bit different, but at the end of the day a dull game is a dull game. And that’s what Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travelers is: a dull, but beautiful, game.- GameSpew

If What Comes After can help those dealing with mental health struggles, then that’s a wonderful thing. But it doesn’t cover these topics delicately; its messages aren’t hidden anywhere, they’re in-your-face, front and centre. However, it’s all the other issues What Comes After tries to deal with – deforestation, animal abuse and more – that ruin the experience. As important as all of those issues are, What Comes After doesn’t give enough time for them to have any real purpose or meaning. Had it been more focused, it could have had much more impact.- GameSpew

Siralim wears its many inspirations on its sleeve but unfortunately brings too few new ideas to an already populated genre to stand on its own two feet. Some may be tempted by its obvious Pokemon-inspired roots, and some enjoyment may be found in its creature-collecting and castle building, but most will likely find themselves disappointed with the blandness of it all.- GameSpew

Despite its problems, if you’re a keen online gamer and haven’t grown tired of the zombie epidemic as of yet, Dead Alliance may be worth a shot. Just try to forgive its less than stellar presentation. Oh, and forget about the single player add-on; it’s really not worth your time or money.- GameSpew

It’s not a game without merit, but unfortunately while Overpass 2 does improve on its predecessor in multiple ways it’s still ultimately disappointing. Key to any racing game is the actual feel of driving its vehicles, and it’s in this regard that Overpass 2 is lacking. Add in the unconvincing physics and limited modes, and you have a game that might be worth a try at a discounted price, but should otherwise perhaps be avoided.- GameSpew

Close to the Sun is a game that’s only remarkable for its scenery. And it’s a shame, really, as the Helios could have carried a great tale. As it is though, while there’s nothing about Close to the Sun that’s broken, there’s nothing compelling enough to make it worth your while, especially with its short run time and lack of replayability.- GameSpew

Even with its frustrations, there’s something alluring about The Plane Effect. Its art style, its eerie and slightly unsettling soundtrack, its dystopian sci-fi vibe; it all leaves you with questions that you’ll be desperate to get answers for. It’s just a shame that the gameplay you’ll need to endure in an attempt to uncover those answers isn’t as enjoyable as it could be.- GameSpew

If you love loot-based games and like the idea of wielding four weapons at once, you can get some enjoyment out of Babylon’s Fall. You’ve got to look past the drab visuals though, and have plenty of patience to get through its opening hours and lack of direction. Ultimately, there are some good ideas here, and some fun moments to be had, but they’re wrapped up in a package that feels rough around the edges and not up to the usual standard that you’d expect from PlatinumGames.- GameSpew

Final Vendetta isn’t a bad game, but in trying to ape the classics it loses sight of the true goal post: the games that currently rule the roost. Even then, we’d still rather play the original Final Fight or Streets of Rage than this middling effort that just simply doesn’t feel as welcoming or enjoyable. Ultimately, if you’re a huge fan of the genre and have a great deal of patience you might get some fun out if it, but it’s never going to be remembered as a classic.- GameSpew

Ultimately, it’s hard to recommend Firewall Ultra. Hardcore VR and tactical shooter enthusiasts might get some fun out of it, but for most there’ll simply be too much downtime and not enough variety. Throw in other issues such as the lack of interactivity, and you have a game that is a bit of a disappointment overall. Can things be turned around? Maybe, if developer First Contact Entertainment can act quickly. Already a patch has been released to speed up unlocks and improve matchmaking, but there needs to be more, like additional match types. Player retention is likely to prove the biggest hurdle here, though; it’s simply not fun waiting longer to get enough players to start a match than the length of a match itself.- GameSpew

Predator: Hunting Grounds isn’t a terrible game. Not at all. But it’s just not good enough. The core of the game is decent, but it needs more maps, more interesting objectives when playing as the Fireteam, and simply more polish. On top of that, while playing as the Predator can be fun, you’ve got to be prepared to spend nearly half your time waiting on matchmaking, and then you could just find yourself running around a jungle like a headless chicken if the opposing Fireteam has its collective head screwed on. With a little bit of work and some additional content, Predator: Hunting Grounds could definitely be worth a purchase, but until then, you’re probably best steering clear.- GameSpew

All in all, VEV: Viva Ex Vivo is quite a conflicted game. It gives the impression that it wants to be quite a laid back, almost zen-like experience, yet it’s frustratingly challenging. It’s also as clear as mud when it comes to explaining itself, revelling in throwing science jargon at you to the point where it overcomplicates matters; it’s essentially quite a simple survival game.- GameSpew

Pick up Gangs of Sherwood and you might get a few hours of entertainment out of it, especially if you play it with friends. Ultimately, though, this is a mediocre action game with a litany of issues ranging from unbalanced characters to sub-par presentation. For that reason it’s difficult to recommend, even if you’re intrigued by its visually fresh take on the legend of Robin Hood. Though to be honest, this doesn’t feel like a Robin Hood game at all. Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse isn’t a terrible game by any stretch of the imagination, but once the novelty of playing as a zombie has worn off, it’s rarely fun. It’s dated in just about every way imaginable, and while those who fondly remember it from many years ago might get a kick out of taking control of Stubbs once again, newcomers are probably just going to left wondering why his corpse has been reanimated once more. With two different endings, Those Who Remain is worth playing through all the way at least once to find out how the story ends. But with so many issues, it’s hard to find the motivation to jump back in to reveal that second ending. Disappointing is the best way to describe Battlefield 2042. It can be fun at times, but also frustrating and downright dull. Its maps are impressive in scale, with weather effects that are a sight to behold. But they’re just too big, filled with vast open spaces that don’t do the game any favours. Mix in a variety of bugs and unfortunate design decisions, and you have the weakest Battlefield game in years. Can it be turned around? Possibly. But whether you’re a fan of the series or not, you’re definitely better off waiting for it to receive some more updates before you jump in.- GameSpew

There's some fun to be had with Sacred 2 Remaster, but on the whole it's a disappointing update of a classic RPG. Gensou Skydrift isn’t a terrible racing game, but its awkward controls and iffy drifting mechanic heavily reduce the fun that can be had from it. Add into the mix poor visuals and a dire campaign, and unless you’re happy to race online you should probably avoid it. Hopefully the option to remap the controls will be delivered in an update, because that would definitely make it more of an interesting proposition.- GameSpew

With all of its issues, it’s hard to recommended Daymare: 1998. Some, however, will be able to grit their teeth and enjoy it – it’s not all bad. It’s a slice of old-fashioned survival horror, with a modern twist and some original features thrown in for good measure. Those original features aren’t all great, however, and the unevenness of the overall package – though reflected in the game’s budget price – makes it very much a love/hate affair. Though maybe “love” is too strong a word. Perhaps tolerate/hate affair is more appropriate.- GameSpew

The best word I can use is probably ‘clunky’, but putting it rather bluntly, Dungeon Punks controls as well as a dead horse.- GameSpew

I wish I could say more good things about The Jackbox Party Pack 7, but overall I was disappointed by this selection. I’ve come to expect that one or two of the games might not be great, but with three of the games here being complete duds, this is probably the poorest Party Pack yet. In its favour, The Jackbox Party Pack 7 is presented as nicely as any Jackbox game always is, and it remains as easy as ever to play with friends. But when six better games in the series exist, this one’s a hard sell. You can play Quiplash elsewhere, making Blather Round the only worthwhile title – but I’m not sure it’s worth buying the entire game for.- GameSpew

For the price of two cups of coffee, you’ve got an indie platforming adventure that offers up several hours of entertainment. Flat Kingdom may be a little clunky, sure, but it’s not broken – and if you’re a fan of simple side-scrolling platforming, you might find something to enjoy here. It’s not going to light your world on fire in any way, but there are certainly worse games out there.- GameSpew

Neon Blood will likely grab you from the outset thanks to its interesting premise and attractive visual style. Unfortunately, poor localisation, unrewarding combat and some other issues pull the whole experience down.- GameSpew

Twin Robots is over in a couple of hours, and its lack of personality means that it’s unlikely to stay in your memory for much longer than the time spent playing it. Given that the PlayStation Vita version also lacks the local multiplayer functionality that the other versions offer, what you have here is an inferior version of a game that is, on all accounts, undeniably lacklustre.- GameSpew

Kong: Survivor Instinct looks rather nice, and its 2.5D action-adventure gameplay is somewhat enjoyable despite being quite basic. It's just a shame that there's so much clunky human-on-human combat, which is not fun in the slightest, and that manipulating its gargantuan monsters is simply a case of gathering collectibles.- GameSpew

When played in multiplayer, it just becomes too hard, too drawn out and too stressful. It's just not fun. But even then, unless you're prepared to to get to grips with RiftStar Raiders' unintuitive controls, you're probably best off steering clear.- GameSpew

While The Beggar’s Ride does a lot of things quite well, and has some creative and interesting ideas behind it, it just doesn’t do enough for me to get past its one huge flaw – the terrible controls.- GameSpew

While we can appreciate what Modus Studios was aiming for with God of Rock, we struggle to recommend it to anyone but the most ardent of music rhythm or fighting game fans. It’s a unique concept that sounds like it should work, but ultimately it’s neither fun as a music rhythm game or entertaining as a fighting game.- GameSpew

Sunless Sea is a good game and Zubmariner brings a solid amount more of that goodness into the fold… But for anyone who has played the game somewhat extensively, I would proceed with caution, because for me, [a] lack of anything really new was the straw that broke the proverbial camel’s back.- GameSpew

Ultimately, Ion Fury is just a disappointment on console. It would have been a nice diversion had it been at least as good as the PC version, but it’s a thoughtless port that doesn’t take console nuances into account. Even worse, it suffers from technical issues that suck even more fun out of it. Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison deserves better.- GameSpew

If you’re a huge Sword Art Online fan, or are simply after an expansive JRPG to sink your teeth into, you will get some enjoyment out of Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris. It requires some patience and persistence, however, and you’ll still be far from impressed by it. Poor performance hampers its gameplay, while long and frequent load times in conjunction with poor pacing often make it feel like a slog. So many times, especially during the first chapter of the game, you’ll be itching for some action only to be hit with an hour or more of story scenes. Eventually, you might be tempted to just drop it and play something that treats your time more respectfully.- GameSpew

Devout Neptunia fans keen for another outlandish escapade to lose themselves in will no doubt get some enjoyment out of Neptunia: Sisters VS Sisters. There’s little here for anyone else, though. Far better RPGs exist on PS5, and even as Neptunia games go this is a bit of a disappointment thanks largely to its ho-hum combat system. So, perhaps give it a miss unless you really must spend more time in Gamindustri.- GameSpew

There’s a good game in Motor Strike: Immortal Legends somewhere. The problem is the enjoyable parts of the game – mainly being its combat, gets stifled by little variation and repetition. Whilst playing with friends is a fun distraction, it doesn’t make up for the other problems the game has.- GameSpew

In any way you look at it, the story of Syberia 3 cannot be described as anything other than heart-breaking. Not only for the player or the characters themselves – if ever they were capable of realising the technical mess they were a part of – but for developer Microids. So long have they been working on this game with an ambitious attitude hoping to satisfy long-time Syberia fans after an excruciating 13 year wait. There is a great adventure game here just begging to be broken out, however for now as Syberia 3 stands, Kate Walker’s story is one best left washed ashore.- GameSpew

The foundations are here for a refreshing and unique experience, but they need building upon and refining. Devout monster truck fans are likely to get some fun out of it, but everyone else is better off either avoiding it or picking it up with a discount. Monster Jam Steel Titans isn’t the worst racing game available right now, but it’s still very much trailing behind the competition.- GameSpew

If you’re a huge fan of twin-stick space shooters, Curved Space will do enough to hold your attention for a while. Its unique features don’t amount to much, however, leaving you with a rather mundane entry into an already crowded genre. Simply put, there are much better arcade shooters out there to spend your time and money on.- GameSpew
