Mighty No. 9 isn’t perfect, but it is something that anyone who grew up loving any kind of Mega Man game should check out.

Mighty No. 9 is an extremely niche product. The efforts of the developers do not reflect the millionaire crowdfunding campaign that gave birth to the game, but the final result is still more than decent and can be really fun for those who love this videogame genre.

Even with dull visuals and a little too much reliance on the past, in a world where Capcom has seemingly forgotten that the Blue Bomber exists, Mighty No. 9’s enthralling boss battles make it an okay substitute to fill that void for the time being.

Frustrating to play and a pale imitation of Mega Man, Mighty No. 9 is unlikely to command the same reverence as its older cousin.

It was certainly compelling enough for me to want to finish the game. There are also plenty of challenges to help hone platforming skills which ultimately do help in finishing the regular levels. As a game that is clearly supposed to appease Mega Man fans who will likely never get a new game in the series ever again, it falls spectacularly short of their expectations, particularly those that assisted in the crowdfunding campaign.

It’s an OK game; completing bosses does feel nice considering all the crap you just went through and overcoming the risk of having to redo it all again.

Good Lord, so far I think this was my Tony Hawk of 2016 despite me being slightly more generous.

I don't know what you're complaining about. This is Megaman in 2.5D. It's a mindless, fun game.

This is a spiritual successor to Mega Man, not a rip-off because it was made by the creator of Mega Man Keiji Inafune.

Bad graphics?Mighty no.9 isn’t perfect - sure - but it’s still an average experience that doesn’t deserve so much hate just because of what? Bad graphics? The game is just casual gaming that doesn’t need a great storyline or superb optical effects. Besides, it’s not designed for hardcore gamers, just normal, all-experiences gamers of all abilities. The ‘Saturday morning cartoon style’ graphics aren’t great, but does it really matter? It’s still something worth to check out for anyone who loves overall gaming. Expand

I am truly baffled at how this game raised around $4 million dollars on kickstarter, had around 3 years of development time (with multiple delays), and STILL managed to come out a disappointment.

    PROS:
    - Using the dash ability to rack up combos can be fun and rewarding.
    - The soundtrack is decent I guess, but I've heard better from previous Mega Man games.

    CONS:
    - Graphics are just plain ugly overall (explosions look laughably bad).
    - The game suffers from frame rate drops, which is unacceptable given how bad the game looks.
    - Dialog is neither good or funny, and the voice acting borders from decent to downright obnoxious.
    - Abilities you get for defeating robot bosses are practically worthless, with the exception of 2 or 3.
    - Level design is the BIGGEST issue I have with the game though. Levels can be very archaic and basically come down to trial and error. Traversing levels can feel tedious and frustrating, instead of feeling fun and challenging. There are many instant death hazards scattered throughout levels (some of which are hidden off camera, which just makes the game even more frustrating for beginner players).
    - The final boss is very anti-climatic and incredibly tedious to fight. The fight just drags on for way too long.

This game did have potential, but there are too many flaws holding it back.
