This game feels just like playing a new Megaman X title, with some extra features.

Some backgrounds feel a bit bland, and the voice acting is terrible at times but all in all, I'm having a great time!

I don't know what you're complaining about. This is Megaman in 2.5D. It's a mindless, fun game.
What were you expecting, a blockbuster, cinematic game a la Uncharted?

This game is really fun. Picked it up physical for £2.99. It c as me with an art book, a double sided poster and a code to download a digital game manual. It so sad that people hate on this game, its lots of fun. Coming from a classic mega man fan. Guys give it a shot. You will be surprised.

Mighty No 9 is a victim of internet fanboy outrage. After the multiple delays and hugely successful kickstarted budget, expectations were very high. In the end, we were treated to a wonderful and new experience. Inafune has designed something new and nostalgic all at once.

Amidst all of the unwarranted rage for this game, I will try to address each of the core aspects of the game and give it its ''fair shake.''

Graphics: Keep in mind, you are purchasing a game for 19.99. This is not Skyrim on Ultra settings. This is a classic platformer that was kickstarted to run on current generation systems, portable systems, and last generation systems. That being said, the graphics are more than adequate. Lots of bright colors--neon greens, blues and reds--bring a whimsical and fun pallette to the experience. Honestly, while its not pushing the limits of pc gaming, it is still aesthetically pleasing and fun. (NOTE: The negative reviews about graphics are mind-blowing--people paid $20 3-4 years ago to play Mega Man 9 and 10 which were made to look like NES games...The hypocrisy truly is mind boggling)

Sound: Perhaps this is where I found the greatest fault in the game. While the voice acting is top-notch (there really are some great voice actors, including the obligatory Steve Blum--this guy is everywhere), some of the writing is a little juvenile. That's ok though--you're a robot fighting other robots. If you are taking this game too seriously, I think you are missing the point. Music however, might be good? I don't know because the volume balance is so heavy on the sound effects that I never got to hear the music really, which was quite disappointing. Inafune typically treats gamers to some great composers' work. As an aside, one thing that does greatly shine is the personality given to all of the bosses. Once defeated, they become allies and help you throughout the game, dropping in little conversations and you make your way throughout specific levels.

Gameplay/Mechanics: Here's where the game shines. The combo system, while difficult to figure out at first, is actually a blast and keeps the game's pace way up there. You end up really wanting to dash around as much as possible and absorb ''xel.'' The enemies have nice defined hit boxes. Controls are spot on and super responsive. The boss battles are challenging but fair. The weapons you absorb from the bosses are all a lot of fun to learn. I mean, gush gush gush! I really had a blast with this game.

Overall: Avoiding a comparison to past Mega Man games is impossible. But if you stack it up against them, the controls are directly on par. The graphics, if you consider it, is better than any Mega Man game (of any series to date). The sound is lacking and needs balanced, but is fine. The gameplay is what really boosts my score for this game. What it all comes down to is, "Was it a fun experience?" Without a doubt, this game ranks up there with some of my best gaming expeiences so far for 2016. Highly recommend it, even with its few blemishes.

It's a decent game that is pretty much as expected- a spiritual successor for Mega Man games. It's nice to look at, has a great soundtrack, is fast paced and gives a new spin to an old classic.

While it doesn't compare to other new classics like Shovel Knight or Rogue Legacy, it's still fun albeit short- and now that you can find it for 10 or so dollars it's absolutely worth picking up.

I find it funny though how many bad reviews have nothing to do with the game- but are complaining more about the way it was funded.

To anyone thinking about it now- just disregard immediately any review complaining about crowd sourcing. I play games to enjoy games- not to think about how much was spent to make it or what some developer might have said on social media. Kinda sad how the actual game is the last thing on people's minds nowadays when they make reviews.

This has gotten a lot of bad press, but I got out of it exactly what I was expecting. A new megaman game. The controls are tight, the levels fun and the bosses interesting and fairly smart. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If you're a sheep, don't read this.

Forget the all the drama leading up to its release.
Forget the bugs and the errors about installing this game.

Take a deep breath because my review of the game is as simple as this:

    It will be cheesy.
    Beck will sound annoying.
Graphics will look weird, but not a deal-breaker.
    Music could be louder.
It will be hard to play at first, and you will kill Beck constantly.
You are going to rage, just like the old days.
Curse words will be said, and controllers may possibly be harmed.
Game mechanics will be just like NES MM series, with an X series twist.

With that in mind, satisfaction will be had. If you're still hesitant, game play should already be on YouTube.

The game is worth the $30 (PS4) in my opinion.

I think the low ratings are undeserved. "Critics" are bashing a game with a relatively low budget that came from an indie studio. As someone who grew up on Mega Man as a kid this game is very nostalgic and a blast to play. I guess hating on it is what the "cool" thing to do. If you were expecting a blockbuster game you weren't gonna get it with this genre/budget. I personally have enjoyed it.

Some of the powers were useful instead of 1 or none throughout the game so don't believe the myth that only 3 were useful because there was so many more, weapon energy has recovery and isn't hard to lose to encourage actually using it. Enemies are decently varied and entertaining to go up against, spawning directly on top of MN9 was not. Ducking is automatic in hazardous areas, except one?
