Slow and clunky controls, uninspired level design and unfair difficult spikes make this game a title you're better off skipping, even as a hardcore Megaman fan. Treat yourself with some fangames - they're likely better.

This game is a scam, it got a ridiculous amount of funding with nothing to show for it. Poor graphics, and framerate issues despite that, mediocre level design, terrible voice acting. Don't buy it.

The game feels cheap and lazy. The graphics are muddy and ugly with sluggish game play that just isn't fun. With so much money and hype put into this game you have to wonder where it all went cause the end product feel like they cut every corner they could. Keiji Inafune already got to make his mega man with Mega Man X and you would be better off tracking down a copy of that game.

Will never support anything on Kickstarter again after this Farce... After all the delays, the game released is nothing like a 'spiritual successor' to Megaman in terms of gameplay or graphics; only the artstyle is slightly similar, and only because the Inafune was on board were they able to rip that off...

I am crying like an anime fan on prom night after playing this game. Why did I even back this abomination? Deep Silver is on a row with releasing mediocre game after Homefront: The Revolution and Mighty No. 9 joins their lineup. This is not the Mega Man game we want. It is bland and boring. Should have used my money to back Yooka-Laylee or Bloodstrained instead.

After years and years of waiting, I was trying to get an answer why Mighty No. 9 went through so many delays until they finally arrive right here. It turns out that all the serious hype that they promised me and the rest of diehard fans of the popular Mega Man games.... Two words: Big Mistake.

After a long period, guess what else Mighty No. 9 quickly delayed, again, goddammit it's going to be delayed on the XBOX 360. Seriously? This is not going to be good to be this pile of turd than its underwhelming poor sales and bad timing to promote the game. Deep Silver (Square Enix's parent company) tried everything they can, but just like Homefront: The Revolution, nothing work. So I could imagine what it feels like Mighty No. 9 should've been the passion project experience but like a parody of itself. Much like the time when Bugsy just crapped the 90s than a bowl of cat litter.

Mighty No. 9, to me, is an unfinished schlock of an less inspired Mega Man game. The loading times are just terrible spending a few short hours burying my hole to watch a creepy linage of a Fox Kids cartoon. The graphics are in more form a step down to what other platforming titles like Ratchet and Clank still brings me back great memories why I owned a beloved console called the PS2. And last but not least, how wrong is the awkward voice acting, insecure cutscenes, and the level designs are just too damn ridiculous. And aw, you may be thinking that its designs are a lot worse than Sonic The Hedgehog's 3D outing, right? Right, well almost. But as bad as this was, it's a shame that Inafume promised to be his baby but with little less flair despite the roller-coaster laundry lists of controversies surrounding the game and its (alleged) successfull Kickstater campaign.

Bottom line is don't spend too time playing this game otherwise it'll just be a hard time to open its damaged wounds and not recovering from its swollen memory. This is perhaps now I'm calling Mighty No. 9 as one of the most overhyped games ever. Nothing like an unfinished game on a sour note. I wonder why someone from their website actually said with the words "Prepare the Mighty!" I wonder who come up with that idea, Lou Ferrango from Hercules? Nah, that was way off. I'm sorry. So don't spend your $60.00 at Gamestop cause this will be the last time I ever hear from a broken game again.

Seems to be the fashionable thing to dogpile this game and rip it a new one. Especially as a backer. And as it is, it's mostly deserved.

Gameplay wise, it's okay. But I don't care for how much it gears itself to pander to speedrunner/leaderboard culture. You have to dash through enemies to actually kill them. It creates a sense of pressure to get through the stage fast, but then you deal with lots of level hazards, and odd design choices like pits which don't indicate you're supposed to do down them. So you're being cautious while trying to hurry through.

I'd be more forgiving of the challenges the game offered if certain things didn't have such sloppy design. For example, in one level, there's a turbine half an inch off the ground that you're supposed to dash under. In the demo, it was a problem that I thought they'd fix. But they kept it, and just added a hint. But for something that's all about speeding along, it really grinds the pace to a halt trying to figure out the right distance to stand from when dashing through.

Also, with the dashing through enemies to kill them, you have to for bosses, and if you don't in enough time, their health regenerates.

Visually, it's not as ugly as most of the screenshots have shown. A lot of parts are, but some small segments show promise... But then the frame rate randomly drops every once in a while.

The dialogue is pretty bad, like 90s Mega Man cartoon bad. Again, not a game killer, but there's quite a bit of it throughout the levels, so it's mildly annoying.

It doesn't deserve all the piss it's been getting flooded on it. I'd give it a 5/10. But with the combination of how poorly handled its development and kickstarter campaign were, as well as knowing it's supposed to be filling the boots of Mega Man which have been left empty for a while, this is hard to get behind. But hey, it's better than nothing.

And do I have to say about the graphics?

Day2, alright time to get some serious levels done. Holy hell do these levels suck. It's classic mega man level design, further twisted by whatever idea Inafune had in his head at the time. Feels like a case of "too many cooks in the kitchen".

As for combat mechanics, the dash *is not* strong enough to build an entire game around. It's finicky, whether it stops you just short of an absorb-able enemy or can't keep responsive during intense moments. This is my biggest problem with the game, if you implement a nice dash feature like that it better be ultra-responsive....to the point of being able to dash in and out of situations with no input delay.

Cant care about the story since it's essentially megaman in what looks like a Chinese knock-off skin. But the English voice acting is all types of late 90's horrendous, as if cardboard was given consciousness and told to speak into a microphone.

Like many many others, I'm disappointed with this game. Worst thing I've ever backed.Playing Azure Striker Gunvolt....which funny enough is what Mighty Number 9 *should've* been. Better story, better mechanics, better level design, cheaper game.

    PROS:
    - Using the dash ability to rack up combos can be fun and rewarding.
    - The soundtrack is decent I guess, but I've heard better from previous Mega Man games.

    CONS:
    - Graphics are just plain ugly overall (explosions look laughably bad).
    - The game suffers from frame rate drops, which is unacceptable given how bad the game looks.
    - Dialog is neither good or funny, and the voice acting borders from decent to downright obnoxious.
    - Abilities you get for defeating robot bosses are practically worthless, with the exception of 2 or 3.
    - Level design is the BIGGEST issue I have with the game though. Levels can be very archaic and basically come down to trial and error. Traversing levels can feel tedious and frustrating, instead of feeling fun and challenging. There are many instant death hazards scattered throughout levels (some of which are hidden off camera, which just makes the game even more frustrating for beginner players).
    - The final boss is very anti-climatic and incredibly tedious to fight. The fight just drags on for way too long.

This game did have potential, but there are too many flaws holding it back.

Some stages have 3 extra lives and some have 0. A lot of things pointed out in Beta that needed polish or to be fixed never were. Despite clearly taxing my xbox one the graphics are nothing to write home about, indicating very poor optimization. This is by far the lowest score I've ever given to a game. Here you have it 3/10. Even the fan-made version, Megaman Unlimited, is much better game. You can download it for free in PC. If you want some Megaman, go buy Megaman collections. The Dev said "at least it is better than nothing", hell no I would say for this game "Nothing is Better". This game is LIFELESS.

I went into this expecting megaman x, I love megaman x4, one of my favorite games. And it was not wrong to expect something similar, it was blatantly advertised as such! And it was not wrong to expect something similar, it was blatantly advertised as such! The biggest selling point was the creator of megaman working on the stupid thing. And I don't understand how one can mess such a simple formula, tight platforming, gangster bosses, cool new weapons, hell even the story is almost irrelevant in these games and just have some cool looking characters, that's all this game needs.

    What the game does have:
*Clunky as hell platforming even with an infinite dash
*A new dash system that revolves around you dashing into enemies after killing them, but essentially not doing it on the very second you kill them results in a combo restart and no real reward. So encouraging a player to dash prematurely and take damage also resulting in a combo loss, unless one uses the ice cannon which just brakes the game.
*THE STUN LOCKS, omfg. Not once has anyone appreciated being stun locked in a video game and dying. Personally I don't sit there watching my character paralyzed and think , oh *uck yeah now THIS, THIS is exactly what I want. Every freaking boss has a stun lock and once stun locked almost an instant kill, AND on top of that if you do lose all your lives you restart THE WHOLE LEVEL, which was the same in megaman x, but when you HATE the levels that becomes a bit of a problem. Now before you say get gud skrub, pls not I have 100% every megaman x and done megaman x4 no damage which is pretty freaking hard! But still more enjoyable then even fighting one stupid boss.
*Poor level designs, whilst bringing nothing new to the table on level designs you could at least make some cool levels, nope we get basically the same level with a re colour.
*Poor character designs, WHO THE HELL, thought mighty no.9 Looks cool?! He looks like the michellin man went on a ten day crack binge to lose weight and then put some plastic bumpers on to fight crime!!! All the bosses are lame as hell, look at the boss designs in Megaman x5, freaking fire t rexs and grizzly bears and god dam SIGMA as a floating freaking head is cooler than ALL the bosses.
*A character swap TO THE WORST PLATFORM CHARACTER of all time. Did anyone actually enjoy playing as the other character??? She cant dash to kill stuff, she cant charge her gun all she can do is shoot enemies until they go to that dead state, and then? Shoot them TWICE as much AGAIN. On top of that you HAVE to kill every enemy with her so you cant just ignore them it takes like YOUR WHOLE DAMN LIFE to kill one freaking enemy.
I stopped playing after one level as her so I am going to stop my review here before I burst a blood vessel.
Dont buy it. Please. I dont know you, and I don't owe you anything. But I can save you, I can stop you from supporting such money sucking trash, I can help you in the right direction.
    Dont.
    Just.
    Dont.

    All the best.

I paid 14 dollars for this abomination. If i were to do it again I would gladly have taken a dump on a fresh 20 dollar bill and light it on fire. Maybe im not giving the best review because I am extremely frustrated after wasting 3 hrs of my life playing this game and trying not to hulk smash every thing in my near vicinity. Do yourself a favor and avoid this game. This game gives you that bad gut feeling where you feel like the deaths are not your fault due to the bad controls and mechanism's within the game. For the love of god this game needs a turbo button to be played with. Expand

Is it supposed to cost 1 million dollars?
A nonsensical game, some poor graphics after Keiji Inafune beg for money for Kickstarter, we thought we were going to get a megaman-like successor with a very high budget.

What a great game disappointment for all platforms 4/10

I backed them for $125, for now I still waiting for the vita version as their promised. They never send out the physical rewards, no one response for all issues. The game comes out like a cheap products, its not what I want before I backed. Will not buy any games by Comcept anymore, as their company they cant be trusted.

Absolute wank bollocky ****. This having to die **** during levels to find out out to surpass them in a side scroller. Totally unforgiving nature for something tailored to kids. And level design is pure ****e.
Do not pick up this game, leave it rot into nothing.
    I want my time back.

Intro: WHAT HAPPENED? This was suppose to be the Megaman spiritual squeal we have been waiting for, from the father of Megaman himself. Instead we get a lazy rushed experience with some fun bits every now again. With $4 million dollars in funds given from the fans, all the backers of this game are crying like an anime fan on prom night.

Instead we get a lazy rushed experience with some fun bits every now again. With $4 million dollars in funds given from the fans, all the backers of this game are crying like an anime fan on prom night.

Story:What there's a story in here? Yep and it terrible. It is told though the laziest 3D animated cut-scenes where the character don't move at all, NOT EVEN THEIR LIPS MOVE WHEN THEY TALK! It's even more insulting that after the final boss fight you get three anime-quest picture with no voice acting to tell the end of the story. Then they have the nerve to have an end credit cut-scene with the same lazy animation, trying to setup a squeal that this series will probably never get. The voice acting itself is ok, if the story was good or even necessary in this action platformer.

Gameplay. There nothing that bad about the gameplay aspect.........for the most part. You have your shoot, jumping and dashing that you would expect from a game like this. The problem comes from the level design. Every environment is forgettable and have tons of cheap one hit deaths. There is a difference between a game being hard and a game being cheaply hard and in some of area of this game, it is cheaply hard. Stupid narrow spaces with no room to do anything, with a simply jump that's bit higher that you wanted and boom, your dead, There are some fun and fast pace moment and hell, even one level that had a real cool idea, but this fun is few and far between. Also to note there is one level in the game that's complete unnecessary. You play as a girl named Call for one level and her controls feel off and out of place. That level was a chore to get through.

Presentation: GARBAGE! This game looks like a PS2 game and has multiple issue despite is low end graphics. On PC the game would go as fast as 60 FPS and go as slow as 20 FPS. That's not because of my PC because even the highest end PC are having the same problem, its even worse on PS4 and Xbone. As I said for the story, the cut scenes are the laziest thing I have ever seen. I don't know about consoles but while playing this game it also crashed 10 SEPARATE times while I was trying to get through the campaign. For a game that looks like this, THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.

Soundtrack The music is okay but it is mostly forgettable. I hate how every boss, except for the final one, has the same boss music. That's just embarrassing. There only one song I really like and remember and that was the final boss music.(I'll link it below in case you want to listen)

Conclusion: This could have been a fun game. All the aspect of gameplay to make a good game are here but this is muddied with laziest. Terrible story, unimaginative and forgettable levels, framerate issues and crashes, all while the creator want to all ready focus on a squeal. There's a bit of fun to be had but if you really want to play it but wait until its on sale for $5 and you will need to be a BIG fan of Megaman. For everyone else this is a title I recommend skipping.

Story-Robots take over..... not original but still not bad so its ok
gameplay-The gameplay is nothing like the mega man X games as those were fun and this is frustrating with its unfair obstacle and hazard placement and its bad physics, I hate shooting an enemy and dashing through it and then the enemy next to it hits me, its not a fair challenge its just annoying and the bosses are not like mega man games unless you count the weakness of the bosses but if you obtain one bosses ability the rest are cake which was the not like that in mega man games.
Music-Mediocre to ear bleeding, megamans was meh to amazing.
OVERALL-This game is a ugly looking game with bad music, a decent story, but awful gameplay.

Normally challenge is welcome but this game's reward returns are so minimal it's not worth it.

I remember Megaman X fondly, you had plenty of abilities even from the beginning, wall slides, wall jumps (from any flat surface), power shots, none of that is in this game but at least you get a dash and ledge grabs. You get variations of that and your shots but they're virtually useless and

You get variations of that and your shots but they're virtually useless and add little to the enjoyment of navigating a level.

Level design seems inconsistent, most sidescrollers hazards have a prompt some of MN9's seem
instantaneous or punish you before you have a chance to learn (or worse, punish you while or after they reward you). Megaman games usually have enemies who drop health or weapon energy, this seems to be replaced with a system that stores energy from enemies you "dash" through, to access this you have to pause/stop the action. it ruins the flow of action. weapons are uninspired. I-frames are something meant to act as a grievance and learning tool for players, there's none of that if not minimal. Other parts of levels rely on poorly explained mechanics and force you to play a specific way because if you don't, you'll lose health or your life.

It's a poor imitation of Megaman, in fact, just get a Megaman or Megaman X collection to feed your nostalgia, they usually play much much better.

It's so pervasively dull. Where other prominent throwbacks have recaptured the beating heart of the games that inspired them, Mighty No. 9’s familiar pieces are thrown together without a driving vision. Hopefully the super fighting robot’s next successor is more worthy.
