My fingers are crossed that Comcept gets their act together and can create a sequel that is the Mega Man 2 to this underwhelming original. [Issue #23 – September/October 2016, p.68]

Ultimately, Mighty No. 9 is just not worth the price. It has a satisfying set of mechanics, but that is all it has going for it.

Mighty No. 9 is a game you don’t want to continue playing. It tries to ride on the wave of Mega Man nostalgia without understanding why people love Mega Man. [Sept 2016]

Mighty No. 9 is very disappointing, thanks to its ugly graphic style, annoying presentation and frustrating levels. Mega Man needs a better follow-up than this.

Mighty No. 9 isn’t a bad game, but it’s generic in gameplay quality and suffers from technical issues that hamper the experience.

We're not sure where things went wrong, but Mighty No. 9's finished product is just a "mega" disappointment.

Mighty No. 9 should have been a great play on the legacy of Mega Man, but instead is a cheap product that nearly has any creativity in it. This is not what Mega Man deserves.

Its level design isn't anywhere near as cheap as Mega Man's, which are consistently full of **** enemy placement, death pits, and insta-death spike traps. MN9 has these, but nowhere near as much. The Xel Dash also provides Beck with a much more resilient move than Rock's useless slide dash. The character designs are also all great and the story is much better than pretty much every classic Mega Man game I've played (specifically 1 - 4). On the whole, 9/10. Expand

Masterful. I haven't played any Mega Man games before, but I can tell this game is above and beyond them. For starters, the graphix. They lookMasterful. I haven't played any Mega Man games before, but I can tell this game is above and beyond them. For starters, the graphix. They look A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. ESPECIALY the explosions. It also introduces an interesting gameplay mechanic I haven't seen before. The game will actually slow down the frame rate sometimes, which adds some fun unpredictability and challenge to the game. Sometimes, the game will even crash! It adds some fun tension no other game has replicated, especially not those lame old Mega Man games. The dash mechanic is really fun too. It's nice to have a way to get a quick burst of speed in a game like this, another thing no other Mega Man game has ever done. Seeing a pattern? This game is like Mega Man, but good. In fact, it's one of the greatest games I've ever played, second only to Sonic Boom. The only flaw I can see with it is the fact it's a platformer. They should have just made it an FPS instead. The 360/Wii U/PS3 versions don't look that great and the default button mapping is pretty lazy once you realize it's pretty much mapped the same way as how it would be on a 360 controller (i.e the OK button is "B") The cut scenes are cheap and the Voice acting is just as cheap. Stay away from the Wii U version. Expand

I should have left it off rather than continue with this frustrating endeavour. The level design is really poor, and when the game is difficult, it seems purely by chance, rather than being intentionally challenging. I was relieved when "Game Over" flashed up on screen. Expand
