Been playing diablo since the first game, Was disappointed with diablo 3 I thought they could only make it better, how wrong I was. the feeling of progression is non existent, everything scales to your level all the time so no feeling of progression or achievement whatsoever. also hate that the stat points are distributed automatically. I just bought the game so hI have not played the game before the season 1, I mean this is not just a bad season complaint, the game for mee is boring ... well back to diablo resurrection I guess... Fun at start, exploration is nice. Then so repetitive, it's getting annoyingly boring... Stopped playing. It's nice to build expectations for players, it's even better to give content to keep them

It's a great game, but the developers have to be careful with the community. Making characters weaker to keep players playing longer is not the best way to make the game more attractive.

Yeah so I logged in just to change my score from a 9 to a 0.
Diablo 4 endgame and balancing is a pathetic excuse. How about some real balance patches and making the game more fun instead of more grindy. Oh but what's that the psychologist team at blizzard said you have to implement as many mechanics and patches to keep players hooked and play for longer? Well I DON'T care, fix the game.

If you are looking for an aRPG where you feel powerful, with amazing gear and loot, rewards for your long grinding and an amazing and exciting end-game, do NOT buy Diablo 4.

    Specific problems with this game:

    1. Gear. You will get so much gear. 99.99 of it will be useless. You will go 10 or more levels without finding anything better. The affix system means there are so many stats and the chances of getting anything to match your build is very low. After level 85 (or even before), there is no better gear and therefore no reason for most players to keep grinding as there is no reward.

    2. You will constantly be the underdog. Just as you start to feel powerful you will move up a world tier or more nightmare dungeon levels and wondered what happened.

    3. Crowd control. You will, especially in the end game, be constantly stun locked, frozen, dazed, knocked down and poisoned. Poison damage in this game if OFF THE SCALE. Most builds have 1 skill with one use to get out of this and it has a cooldown.

    4. Boring. The end game, and, indeed, the entire game is simply boring. You will do the same dungeons and events over, and over, and over and over again for little or no reward. All of the dungeons in the game are based on 8 or so styles, all have very similar layouts and all have almost identical sections and goals.

    5. Forgetful enemies. Every single enemy type in this game, right up from a lowly hedgehog to the biggest elite enemy of any type can have the same attacks, spew fireballs, throw poison, teleport, cold, etc. They all blend into a sense of sameness.

    6. The horse is terrible, with bad cool downs and it gets stuck everywhere. You can actually run faster with some builds.

    7. Combat is a mess of colourful explosions and crowd control effects and a screenful of enemies. Somewhere in there is you, it's like find wally. You will struggle to see the worst attacks coming because there is so much crap on screen.

    8. Combat is boring. Almost all builds are simply attack with basic skill, build up resource, attack with core skill and use other skills as and when cooldowns are over. Most of the time with my druid I just stand still holding core skill down until everything dies, popping the occasional cooldown skill. That's it.

I do want to say the campaign was the highlight of the game - I actually really enjoyed the campaign.

But in a very un-Diablo move you no longer can go back and re-fight the same bosses you faced in the campaign. Instead the end game is a nightmarish slog through the same bland dungeons or open world gather/kill tasks over and over and over to the point that there is no point.

The campaign gave me a lot of hope, but the end game revealed this is just a boring, shallow shell of a once great series.

The Battlepass also simply makes no sense, why should you spend money to be able to earn something in a month, which is only temporary anyway?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Diablo 4 is like Diablo 3, but without the fun. I stopped playing around 20-30 hours in.

On the positive side. The graphics are way better and the cut scenes are excellent.

On the negative side, here were my issues:

    1. The world is boring. Visually, and as an experience it's just endless identical dreary landscapes and dungeons. Diablo 3 had so much more variety in places, like the levels when you are in a besieged castle, in Heaven, and so on.

    2. The campaign is boring. It is mostly chasing the bad guy from one place to the next, finding out she already left and you need to go somewhere else. When you add the fact that all those places are visually boring... it feels like you are waiting for something to happen. Again compared to the story in D3 which was epic. I mean, you got to heaven and it was being invaded by hell.

    3. They took out the thing I really like about Diablo 3- finding that one piece of gear that makes your build work and increases your damage exponentially. That was glorious, and it allowed you to do things like farming and speed runs. D4 doesn't seem to have things that make this difference, and the enemies scale with you so you are getting gear just to keep up. Overall it makes combat slow and grindy.

Overall, the game feels monotonous, dreary and a huge grind.

I know everyone is complaining about the season pass thing and the patch. I don't care about the season pass and I stopped playing before the patch. But from what I understand, they made the game even slower and more grindy. Wow.

I have 100level Druid, Rouge, Barbarian and 80level Necromancer. The design of endgame is really boring. Changing to the other BD really wastes my time. They just give you 32 malignant hearts for 90 days season 1 ? When they found some bug, why they can't hotfix immediately? People have really short memories, and and very high expectations based on their personal wants and desires. And when they don't get those things, the entitled masses flood the internet.

Let's talk about a few things:

1 - "Predatory monetization tactics" - None...ZERO...of the things you can purchase in game with real money give you more of the game, or an advantage in the game, they are purely cosmetic.

2 - "There's no endgame" - Diablo 2, the most coveted in the series, LITERALLY has no end game. Meanwhile D4 gives us helltides, nightmare dungeons, world bosses and legion events. There's always something to do.

3 - "Patch 1.1.0 broke the game" - No it didn't. This is the greatest example of hyperbole I've ever seen in gaming. The majority of people who complained about the patch, did so without ever playing the first season.

4 - "The game goes nowhere" - first time playing an ARPG? You kill, loot, level, repeat. It's like someone complaining in Gran Turismo that all you do is race...

5 - "They took everything good about 3 and threw it away" - You complained the story wasn't dark enough, they made it darker. You complained it wasn't hard enough, they upped the challenge. You companied there wasn't enough community, they made live events.

Some people will never be happy. And what's worse, some just live to be angry when they cannot grasp that someone is having a good time that they don't get.

D4 is in it's infancy, and will only get better over time.

Putting “sacred” in the name of the gear is truly an illusion that you are getting different gear. Its all the same except the stats can roll a little bit higher. The campaign was not the greatest imo. Most of the quests were annoying especially the desert escort quest that we all know we hated lol. The opening cut scene got me hyped for the story but it was definitely boring for a story about good vs evil. Skills in the game are okay, they could add more things to modify skills in different ways which D3 I think did a good job of. You could completely change how skills worked/interacted in D3 and it made the skills less stale, should have done that for D4 as well. Monster level scaling needs to go from any game ever. It ruins the feeling of leveling up and at that point why even have levels in the game to begin with? The skill tree could not have been done in a more boring way. There is very little choice and you just end up choosing the few passives that actually work with your skill of choice instead of making any decisions about what would work best for you. Sorc class is criminal for this. Blizzard has some how made legendaries feel bad when they drop, basically a glorified rare item with aspects that dont change how you play your character in the slightest. I didnt mind the stash tabs they had given us but hearing that they messed up so badly on loading everyones stash tabs is just so crazy, id expect that from maybe an indie dev but even then wtf???? The devs are also obsessed with this thing called “balance.” I truly think trying to achieve balance in a pve game is asinine. No one is going to remember a balanced game because then everything is just going to feel the same and not as fun. You dont remember cool items or skills from D2 because they were balanced… Last thing, the open world may be one of the worst decisions they could have made for a diablo game. It ruined the formula and now there is no formula in D4 you basically run around any where like a mindless drone because every thing scales and feels the same no matter where you go in the world. Not to mention the world itself is super super bland. Theres not one cool or fun or even different area in the game. This is the type of game I would expect from a small dev studio making their first ARPG ever. Instead this is what we got from the billion dollar company that has made 4 diablo games and have 20+ years in the ARPG market. Not to mention a Diablo game that doesnt even have DIABLO in it. Game probably would have been better received if they called it Litllith or any thing else. Dont play this game unless you LOVE being bored. Expand

    1. I regret pre-purchasing, will never do this again with a blizzard game. 2. The gameplay is insanely boring. D3 was IMMEDIATELY fun. This is directly opposite of that. 3. Tying into my 2nd point - the grind is WAY over-tuned. I could understand the level of grind they decided on for launch to keep players busy. But to keep that grind for seasonal content is insane to me. There's no way I'm putting in that many hours for a SEASONAL character. In diablo 3 it took about 8ish hours if I remember correctly to get a character to max level during a season. This was pretty long but felt fine (besides you could get boosted later on). The journey to max level was decently fun, getting weird legendaries that spiked your power level even though they weren't meta. That was very memorable to me. And once you hit max level the game was fun for hours and hours on end. I believe the game deserves a 0 rating for now. But I'll happily change it once the game gets better. If someone asked me if they should buy diablo 4 right now I would actively discourage them from doing so and tell them to wait. So the game, it is good. I started with barbarian enjoyed the story, the exploration, the fights, the enemies, the missions. But then something was bad, the class.

I started following a guide, because I didnt want to do the same mistakes I did in D2. So character was strong. But I didnt like Whirlwind. So I changed to a personal build and, lol, I was weak, and boring.
I created a rogue thinking of a shadow build but I found out the Imbuement build. The game became so easy and funny. I killed the bosses faster than other classes. But ¿was it OP?, no. There were still bosses from strongholds that killed me sometimes. I had to rebuild me just to beat them. And that was enjoyable.
The other 3 classes were funny too. Druid is weak, Sorcerer is pew pew and Necromancer is... a full tank. Oh yeah Necro was exploting blood with Overpower damage.

The story was.. good, but not the best one. Neyrelle and Donan were family reasons, at least Donan didnt started like that but they changed the direction of his decisions. Then it is Lilith family story, it was cool. And Lorath with Elias story like father and son, again. It is to based on family. There were good backgrounds stories like Taissa or Mephisto. At least in general the start and ending were good.

I liked the system of levels. I could play with my friend who was 10 levels down. There are some bad things about this but I go more for the good finger.

The enemies were good. I found a lot of differents bosses. Even if they repeate in the dungeons, there is no need to farm all the dungeons. Their attacks are dogeables. So you need to think how to fight them.

The scenary was perfect. Yes, D3 showed us the worst hell for babies. And here you enter a dungeon with a lot of blood, bodies, pain, etc. The good Diablo game.

I can say they did a good job with the game like old times. But the old games were not perfect and this one neither.

A surprisingly mediocre game that emphasizes quantity over quality when it comes to hours invested by players. While Diablo 4 is a fine game in its own right, it fails to live up to the admittedly high standard set up by its predecessors, especially Diablo 2.

Diablo 4 is not a horrible game, by any means - it possesses a solid story, with gorgeous cutscenes to boot. Its gameplay mechanics are also perfectly fine, and seems to perform relatively well on a PS5. However, the areas in which it is adequate do little to mitigate the impact of its greatest issue - it is not all that fun to play. It feels soulless and vapid in a way that prior games have not. Even in the state it was initially released in, Diablo 3 did not feel this lifeless or pseudo-predatory when it comes to time spent playing.

Whereas most console incarnations of Diablo 2 and 3 allow you to play the game offline for at least some of the time, Diablo 4 demands that you are always online. It also really wants you to engage with its controversial seasonal content. But perhaps most egregiously, the main tasks of the game - finding legendary loot and slaying powerful enemies - just isn't as fun. It all feels like banal busywork. And for a game franchise that has provided me with so much fun over the years, this feels deeply disappointing.

Diablo 4 is not worth its currently commanding price tag. It is a game that I often find myself begrudgingly convincing myself to play out of a lack of better options. Perhaps at a lower price, this game would feel like a sensible purchase; perhaps with refinement by its development team, the game might feel more engaging and fun. It is a game I regret purchasing, even as I begrudgingly state that it is a perfectly fine game with no glaring flaws - however, in comparison to what came before it, I believe it fails by trying to toe a line between a modern live-service product and the Diablo games of old. I recommend either waiting for its price to drop, or checking out either Diablo 3 or Path of Exile if you are looking for more cost-effective isometric ARPGs to play.

Finding items is no fun at all, since almost every unique is useless due to developers not giving them good stats, and legendaries are just "aspect holders". I would estimate 1 in about 1000 rare items have the stats you want, so be prepared to sort out yellow items like you have never done in your entire life. It's like doing the laundry again and again for hours but you will never get finished. Open world had potential to be fun, but they killed it with patch 1.1 when open world mobs are capped 5 levels below you, so it is just a waste of time. This also makes questing worthless once you hit World Tier 4, so if you saves some quests you will get nothing from them. I was looking forward to this game a lot, and was prepared to forgive many issues, but the game is broken in so many ways that I cannot see how they will put this together into a fun game at all. Also, difficulty scaling is among the most broken I have ever seen. Before World tier 4 everything feels slow and it takes time to kill stuff and move around, and once you get a few upgrades in World Tier 4 everything suddenly is way too easy, and you will be killing world and dungeon bosses in just a few seconds. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have been a huge fan of the Diablo series for 25 years now. I had heard something about Blizzard getting on shaky ground, but I didn't pay much attention to it as I don't have a lot of time to be an active part of the gaming community. When I saw the offer to purchase the game, it brought about sentimental feelings that it would be a worthy continuation of the second installment, although I found the price to be a bit steep, especially considering the main competitor is a free-to-play game (PoE).

The visual aspect is of high quality, and the atmosphere is on point with great animations, etc. However, the game design feels raw, the balance is not great, and the endgame content is quite weak. It seems like the developers were rushed into releasing the game, and it ended up being unfinished. The next patch only made optimizations worse and disrupted the progression and balance. The seasonal system and battle passes are just nonsense; it's evident that the managers at Activision Blizzard are simply greedy people who sacrificed creativity for profit. This approach will only alienate the remaining loyal audience. Perhaps, this is the fate of large corporations - to become dull garbage towards the end of their life cycle.

I tried to go back to the very first small village i started the game in and the monsters there were EXACTLY as difficult as when i first saw them that can be said for the rest of my 30 hr journey in D4.

Then since i played the sorc class the field of view (FOV) started to really annoy me. AS a ranged class you cant help but to play the same as melee since camera distance is SO CLOSE and the angle is so bad you cant see anything until you are almost on top of it! Camera felt nauseating aswell.

After about the third village it the world and the monsters started to look and feel the same everywhere i went. By then the story had lost all momentum and i was left to aimlessly wander (that was about 5th hour mark)

After that was more of the same and when i understood that i didnt like the game at all it was too late to refund it´.

I'm huge fan of Diablo franchise but this game is a disaster. On top of all the above nerf here nerf there nerf again and again just to make the game worse. 400 hours playing, defending and believing for a bs unfinished game. I feel Blizzard rob me big time. If anybody want to play this game wait a year or two till Blizzard get their life together. Expand

Developers completely disconnected from reality. Only few stash tabs, camera zoomed in, no currency tab or item stacking, no loot filter, missing basic QoL, fatal itemization, bad game design, bad afixes, damage for distance, damage for vulnerable... mobile experience like, no depth, not fun to play

Before, I managed to play 1-3 hours a day because I don't have much time, but since the new battle pass I can't play anymore because of bugs (example I arrive in a village and I can't nothing to do anymore no merchant windows open) and disconnections, crashes (it's so annoying in the middle of a quest and a fight).

Never ever believe the critic reviews.

Decent campaign. Boring gameplay, Zero endgame.
Devs have no clue what they are doing.

There are insane amounts of game-breaking, fun-destroying bugs that should have been addressed before release. This game is not complete in any form nor fashion. This game is not complete in any form nor fashion. If you play on console you will still crash and freeze once per hour if not multiple times. I can't even begin to describe how horrid the targeting system is for console, at this point we know the game was not designed for console play nor with console players even kept in mind. They simply marketed to console to deceive us into believing we would have a decent gaming experience and that was the one thing we never got. Shame on Blizzard and Activision for creating such a mindless blunder and atrocious example of what we thought would be a continuation of the classic Diablo franchise. We're nothing but beta testers to this new pump and dump style of game developers to maximize profit and minimize cost, function and overall satisfaction. This game should never have made it past beta and we deserve refunds. A lawsuit is probably our only way to recovering our losses. Expand

Updates like crap, unbalenced of classe, always trying to slow down end game.

There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV — best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.

The visuals are probably what excited me the most. The way the game looks and the atmosphere makes me feel like I'm playing the old Diablo again. On steroids and on a quadruple screen TV, but the feeling is still there. [Issue#328]

Diablo is back, and taking no prisoners. The top-quality, lengthy campaign will be enough for some, while the endgame should prove a welcome obsession for others. [Issue#30, p.84]
