Diablo 4 is not the best game ever, but its pretty damn good. The sounds, the music, the combat, the graphics are all great. Love the story. If you don't want to buy an overpriced skin then don't. Not buying the skin won't cause you to miss out on any content. Along with this I've been seeing complaints about level scaling, but in my opinion the scaling makes this just that much harder and makes all of it an uphill battle the whole time which I love. Though I do see why some people might not like it because it adds an extra level of difficultly. All in all this is a great foundation for what I hope because an amazing live service game. Expand

    Great game.

But some complaints/improvements: Some stutter/rubber banding sometimes tho. And the UI/UX need some work for us that use both controller and m+kb (the UI resets when switching input, selecting the first item to the top left). And I miss the option to bind some actions (to my mouse buttons). And we need WASD. Kinds mind boggling they haven't fixed these basic issues in

Diablo installments have not hit the major niche of gameplay, gore, slash and loot of the genre. It took a failed mobile game for Blizzard to show us they haven't forgotten a stagnant player base with what looks and feels once again like one of their main franchises. Totally recommended.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In my opinion Diablo 4 is the best Diablo has ever been. Easily. It’s the best isometric ARPG you can find. Easily. The latest installment has improved on the franchise in every way possible. Music is phenomenal. Graphics are perfect. Attention to detail is on another level. The massive map and locations are gorgeous. Challenges. Collectibles. So many dungeons. Perfect balance between Diablo 1 and 2. A million things to do. Intriguing story with twists I didn’t see coming. Beautiful armor and weapon design. Aspects are the new cube. Fun builds and powers and playable characters. New memorable characters, not many, but there are a few. Fun grind and end-game and loot system. New features. There are a million things I could say about this game but it would take all day. It is everything I wanted Diablo 4 to be minus some politics and the overpriced microtransaction store. I am hooked. The only reason I give it a 9 instead of a 10 is literally because of one thing, and one thing only……politics. Not only should politics stay out of games entirely, (games are a place to escape reality)… they managed to incorporate lots of it in Diablo 4. You can tell Blizzard was afraid to be called sexists because I am not even kidding when I say that at LEAST 80%-85% of the characters in this game are women. I’m not including the randoms you massacre while you’re exploring, I’m talking about side characters, main characters, characters the leave behind notes for you to listen to. It’s like when Malthael destroyed 50% of the human population 50 years ago (reaper of souls expansion in Diablo 3), he killed all of the men. There are more of your typical politics and propaganda that is in the game to make sure the cry babies don’t go on social media and do what they do best, cry. But I’m sure you can use your imagination. I do realize that there are politics and propaganda in basically everything these days but some games it’s hard to ignore it because sometimes it is overdone. Overall, I give it a solid 9. Absolute masterpiece. Must play. You have no idea what you’re missing out on. Expand

While it may not be without its flaws, the game manages to capture the essence of the Diablo universe and offers a satisfying journey for both new and returning players. Here's why Diablo 4 deserves recognition for its notable improvements and potential to evolve.

One of the standout aspects of Diablo 4 is its dark and atmospheric world. The game's visuals are impressive, featuring detailed environments that effectively convey the foreboding nature of Sanctuary. From eerie forests to desolate wastelands, each location feels distinct and adds depth to the overall experience. The attention to detail in the art design and atmospheric effects creates a moody ambiance that immerses players in the grim and treacherous world.

Combat in Diablo 4 is engaging and enjoyable, particularly for those who revel in hack-and-slash gameplay. The fluid animations and impactful abilities make every encounter thrilling, as you unleash devastating attacks against hordes of demons. The variety of character classes provides different playstyles to suit individual preferences, offering options for both close-quarters combat and long-range spellcasting. Although combat mechanics may not introduce groundbreaking innovations, they do stay true to the satisfying and addictive core gameplay that fans have come to expect.

Diablo 4 features an open-world design that encourages exploration and discovery. The vast landscapes are filled with dungeons, side quests, and hidden treasures, making each journey off the beaten path feel rewarding. While the open-world aspect is a departure from the linear structure of previous Diablo games, it offers a sense of freedom and adventure that breathes new life into the series. The day-night cycle and dynamic weather system add further immersion, creating a living world that evolves as you progress.

The narrative in Diablo 4 aims to delve deeper into the lore of the franchise, and while it may not be groundbreaking, it does provide an intriguing backdrop for your adventures. The storytelling is serviceable, with memorable characters and cinematic cutscenes that drive the plot forward. However, the pacing occasionally feels uneven, and the narrative fails to reach the same heights as some of its predecessors. Nonetheless, the story provides a solid foundation that sets the stage for potential expansions and future content.

Multiplayer remains a core element of the Diablo experience, and Diablo 4 embraces cooperative gameplay with open arms. Joining forces with friends or other players online enhances the fun, as you embark on epic quests together or engage in challenging group activities. The multiplayer aspect fosters a sense of camaraderie and adds longevity to the game, ensuring that the Diablo community can continue to thrive. However, Blizzard's decision to implement an always-online requirement for Diablo 4 is somewhat of a drawback that sometimes interferes and hampers the overall enjoyment of the game.

While Diablo 4 has its share of strengths, it's important to acknowledge that the game is still a work in progress. Some areas, such as itemization, endgame content, inventory management and UI customization could benefit from further refinement and expansion. Additionally, occasional technical issues and balance concerns may arise, impacting the overall experience. However, Blizzard's commitment to ongoing updates and improvements gives hope for the game's future.

In summary, Diablo 4 may not be a flawless masterpiece, but it presents a solid foundation upon which the franchise can build. With its captivating world, satisfying combat, open-world exploration, and multiplayer focus, the game offers an enjoyable experience that holds promise for the Diablo series. As updates and expansions continue to shape the game, Diablo 4 has the potential to grow into an exceptional addition to the franchise.

I am having a huge blast with this game. Open world is fun, dungeons are fun to play and skill system is great to experiment and try around with. Especially, you don’t have to watch “TRY THIS BUILD NEXT LEAGUE”

I have to admit I was very hesitant about this game after Blizzards terrible recent track record of mediocre or right out terrible releases.
But the game is good. Very good even. It is a very well thought-out blend between D2 and D3.
The skill system is back, as is the paragorn board. There is a cap on Skills however, 58 skill points "only" and only 6 active skill slots. As a D2 player, this sounds limiting, but then again we had mostly 1 or 2 beefed up skills in D2 we used solely all the time to level 99, so in that regard D4 actually improves on with limited, but sensible choice.

The paragorn board just reinforces the above, where you can further define your build with sensible stat improvements while also having to decide which capstones you want to go for. This together with full respec options allows for a very well thought out character progression system that encourages thinking through your build while allowing constant small or big adjustments.

The item system is great as always, although in the beginning the affixes felt a bit too samey. But the imprint/aspect system, where you can create your own legendaries with stats that are useful for your chosen skillset is right out fantastic while not trivializing finding new items.

The shared world sounded very problematic to me - but it wasn't. As a complete solo player I have to admit that it felt very fresh and cool seeing other randos appearing, sometimes helping, and going along again afterwards. It made the world feel full and lively. Respawning monsters are a bit weird but understandble for such a system and overall this added a lot of fun to the experience.
Downside though is that it means no mods, ever. Which sucks balls but was unfortunately expected.

On the other hand I have to compliment Blizzard for how polished the release actually is. Very few bugs, none gamebreaking for me and the QoL features, the game design, the story and the progression all feel very well thought out and complete.
If you like looters and can forgive some less complex mechanics like Path offers, then D4 is very likely appealing to you. I played it now since the 2nd (early access) and I regretted none of the hours in it at all. And my Necro (what else?) already is level 60, so there's that. Despite having to work most of the day :')

So fun game play, easy skill system, micro transactions are only cosmetic and don't effect game play at all. Endgame barbarian here, only complaint would be the nerf to barbs basically right out the gate.

People trying to degen play this like streamers and youtubers, whos job is speedrun the game to produce content, and complaining the game as nothing to do? The endgame is farming for gear? What did you expect from an ARPG? Diablo as plenty to do and various ways after you reach level 50 and or finish the campaign for you to progress your character.

Servers where down for about 1 hour 8 of june, and this delusional people, who dont even have the game, so they are playing through twitch streamers, came here and bombed the game. What a sad life you must have to deliberately do this.

This game is a solid 8/10, good story overhall, great combat, great graphics, well optimized, classes feel fun to play, various ways to farm gear, diferent types of end game.

Now there are many things that could be improved:
    - Stash needs rework and the ability to search
    - Implement gem only bag
    - Builds feel to "pre built" little room for creativity
    - World bosses could be more challenging

70$ game, if you value your time at 1$ per hour, you get your money's worth and even more.

When season launches, there will be a battle pass with free and premium tiers. It's not mandatory to progress your character nor does it award items nor power for your character, mainly cosmetics and currency.

From the 15 or so hours I have logged to the game I have to say I am impressed. There is an in game shop that sells cosmetics for real money, however, it is never shoved in your face and is basically hidden in the menu. Like I mentioned the store is cosmetic only so there is literally no reason why people are so upset about it.

I can't wait to play more on my days off. I have never left a review before but I felt like I had to because of all of the review bombing going on for basically no reason. In all honesty if you enjoyed Diablo II or Diablo III then I recommend Diablo IV. If you are brand new to the series I recommend the game as well since you don't really need to have played the other games to understand the story and enjoy the gameplay in this title.

Absolute best ARPG on the market. Gameplay, incredibly smooth. Music, top tier. Atmosphere, perfection. Story, captivating.

I wasn't really a Diablo fan but this game has got me hooked. I'm going to be playing this game for ages. It's got so much replay value because of the variety for builds you can make. I can't wait to finish my first playthrough and get stuck in to another class. I'm really impressed.

Best ARPG hands down. Coop is great, and it's what Diablo should have always been - a gothic, dark, grim world where we endlessly slay monsters

Graphics/Combat/Content everything is just there and this is just the starting foundation they can only go up from here. They have said we will be recieving seasons every 3 months with more content then ever before. Two expansions are already being worked on i forsee a bright future for D4.

This game is a solid 8/10 now but if you include that this is only a foundation and will have so much more added to it i will rate it a 11/10 easy. Shocking that there is zero p2w in the game as well.

I don't have a log of the hours that I spent on Diablo 2, but given that I played it consistently for five years, and then on and off for the following fifteen years, I'm willing to bet its well over a thousand hours. Similarly, I invested hundreds upon hundreds of hours into Diablo 3 across multiple platforms. In addition to those, I messed around with several of the Diablo clones over the years - Path of Exile, Torchlight, Titan Quest, among many others. Needless to say, I was beyond excited for Diablo 4. I purchased it on PC and on PS5 to do couch coop with my wife.

I am a Diablo 2 purist, no matter what the series does, I think that is a timeless formula, so I am always a little rough to accept change in the series, even if it takes it in the right direction. Diablo 4 really takes the series to new heights while keeping the same core dungeon crawling, loot hunting, monster slaying concepts. The open world feels very appropriate for the Diablo series without steering off into other MMORPG territories. It keeps the same spirit of the series but it makes the world feel so much more alive. It is difficult to put into words but it is something that you absolutely have to experience for yourself. The world itself is static which is completely new for the series, but all of the dungeons are procedurally generated like you would expect, and it executes it very well. Blizzard made everything feel much deeper than ever before, and they executed it perfectly. I feel almost as if Diablo 3 tried to add this layer of depth, but they needed to test their foundation over a decade to make it work this fluidly. I also like the connectivity with other players - you'll find them in town, you'll randomly come across other players doing an event that you'll link up with for 5 minutes and head your separate ways. It's very nonintrusive and totally adds to the experience.

The character skills development, and overall depth to the gameplay is all there - the more you play, the more you realize how complex the character building really is. Once you think you have it under control, it just adds more and more depth and complexity to it. Its the most fleshed out Diablo experience without a doubt. The great part about it is that you can play it how you wish. The complexity is there if you really want to get sweaty with the game, but there is so much content that even casual players can fully immerse themselves with as much as they feel comfortable with. I really enjoyed playing this with my wife because she largely does not play any videogames, but I managed to hook her with Diablo 3 many years ago. Its complex enough for me to be able to really get into the stats and builds, but straight forward enough where she can create and customize her character on a far more casual level, yet we can play on the same couch and love it the same.

The graphics are fantastic, although sometimes the textures look a little too shiny and wet, and some of the character models in the cutscenes look like clay and a bit out of place, but overall the graphics are fantastic. The music is amazing and very well composed, or perfectly ambient. The story overall is excellent for a Diablo game, but the world building and lore is where its at. There is a ton to dig into if you are wanting to learn more about the world of Diablo, something that the series was always lacking. Most importantly, the world has that gothic art style that was present in Diablo 2, and not the oddly colorful art style of Diablo 3.

They also greatly improved the couch coop for this game. You can each manage menus at the same time, which I cannot express how big of a game changer this.

Overall, nobody does ARPGs better than Diablo. Nobody. This feels like all of the growth that Diablo 3 experienced and all of their trials and errors are fully realized into this game. I'm still a Diablo 2 purist, they did everything perfect with that game. But if I want to play Diablo 2, I'll play Diablo 2. This was an absolutely necessary step for the franchise and it makes the growing period from Diablo 3 completely worth it.

Hello, I am an avid ARPG enjoyer.
I write this review for two audiences, casual and "competitive".

    Casual --
Let's start with casual, this will be easier :)

Note that these are subject to preference, as the game is on the darker side.
    General categories for casual players:
    Storytelling - 9/10
    Visuals and Audio - 7/10
    Combat - 8/10
    Pacing - 8/10
    ------------------------------------
    Overall - 8/10

    Good job Blizzard!

    Competitive --
Now if the above review was not informative enough for you, then you might be in the more competitive category. I'll be frank, I've reached level 100 on hardcore mode, and I've spent many hours theory crafting builds, figuring out power scaling, and farming for gear. So let's get to it.

    Storytelling - 9/10
My review for storytelling remains the same. This is a darker game, so others might not enjoy the storytelling aspects that Diablo 4 presents, but at the same time... If you're playing a game titled "Diablo" then you should probably expect to see darker themes.

    Audio - 8/10
    Good stuff.

    Visuals - 7/10
This is where things become tricky. I come many different games, and I've seen a lot of visuals. There's something unique and satisfying that strong visuals (not flashbangs) and audio can bring to the player. The best example I can use is in Lost Ark, when your character uses an "ultimate" ability - it feels like an ultimate ability both from the sound cue's and the visual effects. Diablo 4 seems to shy away from this, but it's not entirely a bad thing. It's just Diablo 4's aesthetic.

    Combat - 7/10 (combined from Mobbing/Boss fighting)
For ease of review, we can break the combat down into two styles that are applicable to the ARPG genre. Mobbing and Boss fighting.

    - Mobbing 9/10
This is what Diablo does best. The builds you make tend to have speed as their middle name. The faster you go, the more items that drop, the more exp you earn, the more materials you farm, the higher you push your character. With so much RNG inherent to the genre, it's critical that you're farming efficiently - again, Diablo does this quite well.

    - Boss fighting. 5/10
We have a problem here. I will preface this by saying that there are unique "bosses" within the game that have mechanics for a player to learn and adapt to. However, this goes away very quickly when the boss dies in less than 10 seconds flat. There's no real sense of "Boss fighting" in this game, as bosses are basically just another elite pack with more health, or just a means to finish your dungeon.

The way that Diablo 4 is currently made to be played with it's skill usage, does not lend itself well to boss fighting in contrast to other games like Lost Ark's endgame boss fights (or even PoE bosses). There's a certain level of thematic presence that Diablo 4 boss fights are missing, and although I'm not an expert in game design - I can at least tell when a game is lacking.

    Pacing - 7/10
The pacing in this game is able to appeal to both the casual and more competitive player base alike. The game features a level scaling, which matches mobs to your level accordingly. Leveling initially feels comfortable and at ease, while leveling towards the end feels very slow, which is not a bad thing per say.

While some people enjoy chasing the higher level number, the game is much better enjoyed chasing "content" instead of "levels". As you're doing content suitable for you, the levels will come naturally, however there are some nuances to the pacing and scaling in this game that can make it feel bad at times. (Such as unlocking the next world tier when you're 7 levels down, but all of the enemies are now 10 levels higher than you.)

    Itemization - 7/10
The is a subject to great contention. ARPG's always tend to have a random aspect to their loot, and farming for the perfect item for your build can feel either tiring or rewarding, depending on multiple factors.

The tier levels of items for Diablo 4 was implemented quite well once you're more familiar with the system. However the systems used are incredibly and needlessly convoluted. I enjoy complex systems, but I mostly enjoy complex systems when information is in abundance.
For example, you are unable to see the potential roll values for an item affix at the enchanter, why hide this information? Hiding this type of information only makes the game more complex and frustrating for a casual player, which appears to be your main audience, as competitive players will seek this information out on their own.
For the average player, it will be difficult to determine if this next piece of gear is an upgrade for your character, or salvaged resources. Side content - The side content in the game is very good, but I will only ever do this content once or just not play anymore. Overall - 8/10

Diablo 3 had rebirth. This allowed you to keep the same character. But resetting it to level 0 and starting the season. Redesigning a new character every time a season starts isn't interesting to me. What after 20 season I'll have 20 characters? I only want to manage 5 characters, one of each class.

    Pros:

    - An 8-12 hour story experience that's very immersive and holds together mostly well. After the first playthrough the game allows you to skip the story so you can just jump into doing whatever you'd like.

    - Varied, extensive endgame activities to power your character up in numerous ways (Helltides, World Bosses, Tree of Whispers, Nightmare/Regular dungeons)

    - Every class feels unique, and for how simple the skill tree looked, there is a really good amount of build diversity (4-6 builds per class).

    - The game flows amazingly well, most aspects of it's activities are simple enough to understand, and only min-maxing will require further research.

    - Those seeking a bit more complexity can find it in the paragon boards that allows you to shape them in a way that fits your character, with unique and powerful effects, and 9 different boards per class.

    - The atmosphere and the look of the world is simply stunning, and very well done. The cinematics also never disappoint, especially considering that the Player character is now present in them as well.

    - Itemizations, whilst simple, still has a lot of options and variables/tools to shape your character in a way you'd like. The idea of a Best-in-Slot item is there, and it's sufficently hard to get. To add onto that, it never feels bad to replace a legendary item with a regular rare item, because you can always just re-use the effect once from your old piece of gear.

    - The cash shop, despite all the fears people have had regarding it is an absolute non-issue. The earnable game sets look just as, if not better than the ones on sale. There is no power offered here, only cool cosmetics at reasonably high prices.

    Cons:

    - The renown system/lilith statue system is completely fine on the first playthrough, however having the renown "grind" be subsequently required every 3 months with seasonal content will dampen the mood quite a bit.

    - Limited Endgame: I list this as a con, but in reality most other ARPGs started with much less than this. Diablo 4 has a fantastic skeleton that the team clearly plans to expand upon in seasonal updates.

    - Damage buckets make stat priorities among classes a bit samey.

Overall I feel like giving this game any worse than a 6 (And that's really trying to hate on it), or better than an 8 feels disingenous, the released base product is absolutely fantastic, and people giving it a 0-4 are just blantantly trying to discredit all the hard work the team has done over the last several years.

    A) You definitely feel like a badass who runs around the world crushing demons left and right.
    B) Campaign is well done. Great cutscenes, easy for you to railroad at your own discretion, very thematically "diablo".
    C) The power progression is well done. Starts out simple, and layers on complexity so help a new player slowly figure out how the core mechanics work (skills, then enhancements, then aspects, then paragon powers)
    C) Lots of fun theorizing new builds and reasonably easy way to respect your character to test them
    D) Large open world that I enjoyed exploring.

Diablo 4 is a great foundation for what could become the best Diablo game yet. It slows the pace a bit back from the arcade-like feel of Diablo 3 and has, in my opinion, the most compelling story of the games I have played thus far. The leveling experience is great and I have thoroughly enjoyed the transition to mid game, even if balancing has some room to improve. The soundtrack and visuals are phenomenal, combat feels chunky and visceral and I do find that the game plays best with a group of at least 2 friends. That said it's absolutely playable solo, even if I think it's a better co-op experience. There is a wide variety of content to engage with early on, and I personally find the nightmare dungeons can provide a fine tuned challenge to your liking, if you don't want to go too crazy you can keep it sort of easy, which is a nice option. I also like that itemization has gone a little towards Diablo 2, with extra ranks to skills and less traditional stat bonuses, though I do feel like some of these bonuses need to have more value added to them and be explained more clearly.

Now for the negative, as of right now the legendary abilities can feel pretty shallow compared to Diablo 3, although early on it experienced a similar issue. Endgame content is kind of alot of min-maxing your gear, which is a staple of this style of game but if you don't like that, you still probably won't. And there are some quality of life improvements the game could use but are by no means so negative they warrant reviews of 1 or 2. Online connectivity has been mostly good, especially for a recent launch, but if you have limited time, it could be a spot of contention.

All in all, I give Diablo 4 an 8 out of 10, it's a good foundation and depending on how it develops it could easily be a 10/10 experience down the line, but this is blizzard we're talking about.

Game is feeling pretty fun. I do feel like XP still feels a bit slower and the itemization has flaws with the enchanting system or that loot after a certain point early on doesn't feel rewarding. There's also some big quality of life changes that need to be implemented to remove some of the tedium of the game like respec-ing or loadouts. I'll keep updating this review as it changes since this is a service game after all.

I'll be 1000 with you, I'm really not the type of person to just jump on to bandwagon negativity or the idea of review bombing.

That being said, there's a level of trust and faith that has been utterly destroyed by the team in charge of this game. For context I have about 250 hours into the game and have reached 100 on my sorcerer and 75 on a rogue. The switch to Sorc and have enjoyed that play style but the longer it was played, the more I noticed my friends who have been leveling up beside me have been outclassing me tenfold. That's fine and fair and I like just doing zappy things anyway but it got to the point where I couldn't clear the content that they could clear and it felt bad. I was grinding my way to 100 to be able to help out with Uber Lilith. No dice, too weak. Spent time grinding for gear in popular builds to beat her and once again... no dice, too weak. We rely too heavily on CC in order to get to a level about a 1/4 of what other classes can put out and with about half the survivability. I still had fun on the way up until about 85ish.

Now... that was a fun story only to set up for the slap in the face that the 1.1 patch gave everyone but somehow in some magical way made the weakest class into the weakest class but somehow so much worse. We lost all of our tool in order to survive in terms of a cool down reduction nerf since we rely on 4 defensive skills for every build because you know... balance. We lost our damage from Devouring Blaze and the Aspect of Control nerf which I would be fine with... if they actually bothered to buff literally anything to take place of it. Like buff the skill damage or the passives or something please. We've been starving for crumbs and those nerfs without nothing else just made us so weak. I'm dealing about 1/6th of my damage when my friends are pretty okayish comparatively. They took a bruise to an arm, sorcs got cut off at the shins.

The community has been having conversations about Sorcs being the weakest before the patch, how the hell did devs not know the state of it prior? Do they not listen? Between that and making monsters stronger and slowing down experience gain makes this patch very slow and very boring if someone was to start again which is literally what Seasons are made for.

What a way to turn a 8-9 out of 10 into a big fat 0. The devs don't respect your time and they don't respect your support for the game. This will literally be the only bad review I write about something. I was really hoping to be in better spirits after sleeping it off a night but I'm somehow more angry the more I think about it. Don't buy the game until the devs figure this out and if they do and fix the problems that have been plaguing the game since the beginning and the new ones they added, be careful and bail if they do it again.

Diablo 4 makes me feel embarrassed that I spent as much time playing D3 as I did. Diablo 4 in so many ways feels like the proper sequel to Diablo 2 that we've been waiting for.

The story, characters, music, ambiance, production value, cut scenes, easter eggs, thoughtfulness, and passion put into this game is unbelievable. Where Diablo 3 felt like a rough draft of releasing Diablo Immortal, Diablo 4 felt like a realization and refinement of the best of Blizzard from the past...at least what's left of the OG crew. All those aspects are 10/10. All the "ThErE aReNt MeMoRaBlE sOnGs LiKe D2" people...you've been listening to those songs for 20 years. Sure the sound levels may be off, but if you turn down the rest of the sounds to hear the music better, you realize that the sound artists and musicians did some amazing work and i will be listening to these tracks for the next 20 years.

Gameplay: People wanted more depth and choices to matter....got that. People wanted more difficulty = yep. People wanted depth and build diversity...so far so good. I'm absolutely loving the imbuement system. Different legendary aspects make or break a build and it's been awesome. Oh and before you say anything, when I played early access I had one mission when the game launched = Be a Giant Bear....and it's awesome! Realizing the fantasy, feeling impactful, having amazing synergies with skills and loot feels great.

Is the game perfectly balanced? No. Is there more work to be done? Absolutely. But with this being really the only good game Blizzard has going into the future since their whole Overwatch 2 debacle...the developers have a lot of evidence that making good choices for gamers makes investors lots of money. Especially with POE2 on the horizon and POE's amazing track record of content updates and profitability, the Acti-Bliz suits (should) see that want wonder why they can't do it better. I'm not worried about the current state of the game becuase there's a dedicated team behind the game and Blizzard needs this to work.

For the people whining about the microtransactions. I've now played a nearly a hundred hours in the game...havent opened the shop once. I have no idea what's even in the shop. People complaining about the existence of microtransactions in a game like this that are cosmetic only are complaining about Apple selling phone cases for the iphone. At no point have I been playing the game have I thought "wow they really slacked on the visuals with this game, I wanna buy some of the good cosmetics" because the loot, the environment the mount skins are super cool and getting a drop for a skin or salvaging a legendary for a transmog or imprinting a rare and watch the item transform to a totally cool new cosmetic is amazing!

Areas to work on: 1. Quality of Life features have been well documented by the community. People talk about the overlay map...I just need to be able to zoom out of the mini map and that'll be fine. My mouse side buttons should by default zoom in and out of the mini map to the same degree as the full map does and that'll solve the whole overlay problem. 2. Stashes, gem stash etc. people know this kinda stuff. Gems should have their own stash tab. I'd even consider buying one like POE sells if that means it doesn't take up valuable loot space. Also let us have unlimited number of stash tabs! Maybe after 5-6 the rest have to be purchased through the shop. 3. Levelling and power curve - Even as a druid, once I got to Tier 3 and found some good Legendary aspects that synergized i was stomping, but the early levels sucked. Frankly, I think you could keep the level scaling and the systems in place if you just started the paragon system at level 1 instead of level 50. 4. Please add timers and notifications for events that you want the community to care about. There should 100% always be a timer for the next world boss and next Helltide. I literally log in hoping for Helltide. 5. Better community/trading options. I understand the wariness due to literal decades of scams and duping by the Diablo community with fully open trade. However, right now I don't even know how to offer items to trade and being able to easily put items up for auction would be a nice feature.

Don't believe the rating bombers. I made an account just to write this review. I played the betas and I've been playing literally the worst character according to apparently everyone: this game is awesome. It has a lot to offer fanboys, casuals, hardcore folks, and even skeptics. There's clearly a lot of love and passion put into this game and I'm excited for the updates to come.

Oh, behold the masterpiece that is Diablo 4, a veritable symphony of a game, tailored exclusively for the elite, the triumphant, the apex predators of existence - successful hardcore adults. Only those whose bank accounts are weightier than their sense of enjoyment need apply.

Behold as the game diligently undergoes perpetual renovations, a virtual utopia where every bug is lovingly squashed, every wrinkle smoothed out. What could be more thrilling than a game that gets frequent facelifts? After all, who needs to have fun when you can be endlessly entranced by the riveting process of bug-fixing?

But hold your horses, thrill-seekers! If your idea of gaming is even remotely related to "fun," tread no further. The developers have declared it themselves, with a straight face no less – "it is not fun." Clearly, we've transcended such trivial desires. Games aren't meant to be enjoyable; they're meant to be the very air we breathe, the immersive cocoon that cocoons us from the mundanity of reality.

And speaking of time, fret not, for Diablo 4 is here to suck every last ounce of it from your life. A leisurely horse ride? A simple exit from a dungeon? Each act, a luxurious indulgence, costing you the precious currency of existence: time. But rejoice! For as a member of the prosperous elite, you have time to spare, and what better way to squander it than in the throes of Diablo 4's meticulous attention to tedium?

Forsooth, this game isn't for the riffraff; it's a sanctuary for the opulent. If your bank balance resembles a hamster wheel rather than a mountain of gold, avert your eyes and scurry away. But if you're a bonafide member of the elite, buckle up! Diablo 4 beckons you into its leisurely embrace, a tortoise-paced odyssey that'll make even the slowest snail seem like a speeding bullet.

Fun? Pshaw! Fun is for the plebeians. Go, amuse yourself with mere LEGO blocks or the frivolous trifles of a Nintendo Switch. Leave the weighty matters to the connoisseurs of discernment, those who understand that an impeccable taste is worth its weight in gold - Diablo 4, a flawless masterpiece, deserving of an unchallenged 10 out of 10. No need for questions, for the answers are written in the golden script of success.

Most people reviewing here are giving low score due to servers being down, its not a true reflection of the game itself. Diablo 4 is a great game. I pre-ordered it and am currently World Tier 3. I read some of the critiques and I have to disagree with most of them.

How can someone say the build system is shallow when the game has only been out for a couple of days? You have a branching skill tree (active and passive skills) which not only synergize with the other skills within the skill tree, but also the multiple different aspects you unlock either from gear drops (which you can remove and add to other gear at a cost) or completing specific dungeons. Not to mention paragon levels after hitting level 50 with node and glyph unlocks. Each piece of gear also have different stats and effects which you can also relocate to other gear. All these factors synergize to either create an average build or a very potent build capable of finishing higher level content. Its a bit more than adequate. Not overly complicated, but not simple enough to feel like you are not 'building' your character. People who bought this game knew it was not going to be POE2, so why compare its build system to POE1? The build system is a lot better and more complex and rewarding than any previous Diablo game or any other decent ARPG out there besides PoE. Mythic items are also a welcome addition to the caliber of gear you can get at endgame. I always felt Diablo 3 was missing just one more tier of gear quality.

The graphics are incredible. They managed to capture the same dark gritty vibe from Diablo 1, which is what I missed at times from Diablo 2 and especially Diablo 3. Environments, outdoor and especially indoor are very detailed and I found myself at times marveling at these.

The gameplay can be slow and fast at the same time, its hard to describe but it feels good and more realistic than any previous Diablo entry. Each kill is extremely satisfying, the effects are great, everything you would expect from a polished Blizzard game. They seem to be able to do this better than anyone else.

My favorite part of the game is the maps and zones. For so long I waited for an ARPG that was like Sacred 2 in map and exploration size. Diablo 3 was extremely shoe horsed and I hated that. Diablo 4 is a huge seamless world and this for me is the best part of the game.

There is also a ton of things to do. Main quest line, a plethora of sub quests, mini dungeons, dungeons, strongholds, helltide, world bosses and probably more I am not even aware of yet. It is a game they can definitely expand on in the future and add more features like this if necessary.

My only gripes are the following:

Lack of different voice options. My necromancer sounds like a paladin.
Act 2 seemed a bit short. The story is average, nothing groundbreaking. I would have like to have seen some more classic Blizzard cinematic, a lot of it is in game cinematic. After just finishing FF7 remake I realized this was lacking a bit.
Slight rubber banding at times - This definitely detracts from the experience and is annoying. This is most likely cause the game just launched, but will be fixed in the next couple of days.

Other than that, quite frankly this is the best ARPG I have played. Diablo 1 will always hold a special place in my heart. Sacred 2, Grim Dawn/Titan Quest too, but I feel Diablo 4 has taken positive aspects of all these games, learned from their mistakes from Diablo 3 and made one hell of a game in Diablo 4.

Blizzard have improved on the framework of Diablo 3 in just about every way, from graphics to sound design to story and world building... Some items still haven't been found at time of writing--by anyone. The story turns into a bit of a slog as you progress, but it's an improvement over the prior games. XP and leveling slows to a crawl around level 60. There aren't good incentives to do a lot of the content they want you to do in many cases. At bare minimum, this needs some serious balance changes, and I'd prefer they gutted the level scaling system altogether if that can be done without ruining the open world built around it. The world is much more immersive and there are lots of surprisingly high-quality side quests. There really are a lot of upgrades to the series here, but it could be so much better so easily. The level scaling feels bad. The gear feels sorta weak. It needs an overlay map (I'm staring at the minimap in the corner of the screen while walking, their plan backfired). Expand

People have really short memories, and and very high expectations based on their personal wants and desires. And when they don't get those things, the entitled masses flood the internet.

Let's talk about a few things:

1 - "Predatory monetization tactics" - None...ZERO...of the things you can purchase in game with real money give you more of the game, or an advantage in the game, they are purely cosmetic.

2 - "There's no endgame" - Diablo 2, the most coveted in the series, LITERALLY has no end game. Meanwhile D4 gives us helltides, nightmare dungeons, world bosses and legion events. There's always something to do.

3 - "Patch 1.1.0 broke the game" - No it didn't. This is the greatest example of hyperbole I've ever seen in gaming. The majority of people who complained about the patch, did so without ever playing the first season.

4 - "The game goes nowhere" - first time playing an ARPG? You kill, loot, level, repeat. It's like someone complaining in Gran Turismo that all you do is race...

5 - "They took everything good about 3 and threw it away" - You complained the story wasn't dark enough, they made it darker. You complained it wasn't hard enough, they upped the challenge. You companied there wasn't enough community, they made live events.

Some people will never be happy. And what's worse, some just live to be angry when they cannot grasp that someone is having a good time that they don't get.

D4 is in it's infancy, and will only get better over time.

There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV — best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.
