Review gets a 1 because I have seen worse. This recent patch however gutted ever class, but the weakest class in the game took the biggest hit. I log in only to find my Sorc doing 80% less damage than before the patch. This isn't playable, and judging at how long it takes them to fix something (if they even fix it), I'll be long done with D4 before that day comes.

It goes to show that Blizzard does not respect the player's time. It really seems like they did their best to increase the in-game time by dragging the game out just so they can show their stakeholders increased hours played. Oh nelly will this ever backfire on them.

The game is too grindy and the latest update makes progress even slower. 100+ hours to max level when there is no build variety and itemization is very poor. I have a PS5 and I am a casual player. I am about to buy a PC so I can play Last Epoch and PoE2.

I have no doubt that Diablo 4 is one of the best games of 2026, today it's not this day.

Blizzard deploys nonsensical patches that break the underlying mechanics of the game and in doing so ensures that it has no long-term playability. Why would anyone invest time in this game if they're just going to casually break whatever you've built to juice some internal KPI with a complete disregard for whether or not it makes the actual game fun to play?

They've destroyed almost everyones will and motivation (including mine) to play Diablo IV. Patch 1.1 should've existed out of QoL and/or harder content such as torment 5, 6, or above.
But instead they nerfed the classes into oblivion where as the sorcerer is not even playable anymore.
Blizzard as a company is out of touch, and has lost complete sense of feel or connection with the playerbase.

Just as many others have already said - The game is pretty but also soulless and boring. The non-stop waves and hordes of enemies isn't fun in the slightest bit. You just mash and click buttons until the vague and mostly indistinguishable moving objects surrounding you stop moving. Then you pick up the largely useless gold and items that don't really help you in any significant way. I wasJust as many others have already said - The game is pretty but also soulless and boring. Then you pick up the largely useless gold and items that don't really help you in any significant way. I was fully kitted out with yellow items top to bottom by level 14. What's even the point of blue items? And really, even the yellow items aren't usually all that special.
Diablo I and II were insanely fun games. There was a formula that worked so well that people literally played them for years and even decades (D2). DIII was ok-ish but everyone knew D2 was better. How can the developers at Blizzard be so obtuse? Why make moving through the game so mind numbing? Why get rid of the value of gold? Why not make yellow (and orange) items hard to find and worth it when they are? Why make enemy combat an endless, confusing button smash slog? I literally can't tell what most enemies look like or what they're even doing to me. It's just visual noise.
Why was D2 so much better than D1? Because it was bigger and gave us more characters. Sure there was some pretty cool innovation with the gems and rune system but the basic game play didn't change.
I feel like D4 is a pretty looking Diablo clone that got all the reasons why Diablo was so fun completely wrong. This kind of misstep would be ok if these games came out every 5 years. But to wait almost 12 years? For this? It's just flat out unacceptable.

As a casual gamer, I can't spend hours every day just farming for a RNG chance at getting better loot. I swear I scrap 99% of what is dropping. Also, if you don't use a few meta builds you're experience will be much worse, especially after they nerfed pretty much every aspect forcing you to spend even more time farming loot. The cost of rebuilding your character to try new things is only possible if you, once again play 10+hours a day and even then is just ridiculous. They had 3 previous games to build off of but decided they wanted to shoot for a more AARPG/MMO style game but then start taking out multiplayer aspects because they decided a small percent of players are leveling too fast and shining a spotlight on the fact they biffed the endgame? So the decision was to make leveling even worse for others so they dont have a chance to get there? -Talent tree and entire UI is ugly and convoluted. It's a quest to find your quests.
    - The monsters are the same the entire game. No fun / new mechanics to learn to dodge, no upgraded or variations, just the same guys over and over and over and over.
    - Completely unnecessary 'open world' with mounts - It's just boring filler Blizzard requires you to go through for no reason
    - Dumbest people - Not a single person has common sense. Every person who walks into a cellar, or goes down a ladder is inevitably caught by demons and needs to be saved. Sure, my main goes into those cellars, but is also capable of killing his way out.

If you know the franchise, then chances are you'll get through the main story line, start the next difficulty, and then quickly taper off. This game needs a FFXIV revamp - take it off the market, apologize to the player base, and develop a game that's good - otherwise it'll be a disappointment to the franchise, but at least removes the temptation to stay inside this summer.

Overall, I just didn't enjoy much of D4. From the campaign to the end-game, it never felt enjoyable mainly because the gameplay itself just isn't enjoyable.

Before the game even came out, i was very annoyed by yes, A PREDATORY, practice of charging 20 dollars extra for early access with a hardcore race behind it to FOMO consumers. Anyone who doesn't think this is a scummy, predatory practice is a corporate shill.

Campaign was extremely easy. I played a Rend Barbarian. The scaling world felt as though as completely side quests, strongholds, or farming dungeons was pretty meaningless as the scaling would just diminish that effort. So I just went straight through the campaign only to be extremely underleveled when fighting Lillith cause apparently that just didnt scale for some reason? I fought her at level 36 or 37, still one shot it because the game is very easy. Overall, the story, voice acting, and graphics were good but it was boring gameplay. I'd give the campaign a 6/10. I dont particularly like campaigns in general. It wasn't the worst, but it wasn't Halo 2 on Legendary.

The combat is more of the same as the last versions of Diablo and in some ways worse. You only have 6 abilities, 4 of the Barbarians spells are nearly essential lock-ins for buff, then you need one builder and one spender. This is across every build Barb has to offer. You press two buttons with some buffs. One you level up you can almost drop your spender because your shouts generate all your rage but most still keep it just in case. You really can't really afford to take leap, charge, steel grasp or anything fun really. Just buff, build, then spend. Was pretty silly that my D2 Barbarian had more spells to use than my D4 barbarian. I haven't played PoE and quit D3 probably after a month or playing it because the RMAH. However, it is crazy to me that in 23 years, I have less abilities in a game to use that is a ARPG. Combat for me is easily a 1/10, I can't imagine a worse action game then pressing 1 combat ability 95% of the time. This was acceptable 20 years ago, not now.

The gearing system leaves a lot to be desired, its not terrible so to speak but there are glaring issues. Nearly every build prioritizes Vulnerability, Crit, Crit %, and CDR. Resists are utterly useless. Gems have no use beyond your first 10 royals. Acquiring the gear is best done by doing half of a dungeon then resetting the dungeon. This makes for a very repetitive and unfun game loop of pressing one button for two minutes then reset and do 20s of load screens. I'd give gearing a 5/10.

The dungeon system was terrible. There are 100s of dungeons to do but you really should only do 2-3 because they are SO far ahead in terms of XP per hour you are wasting your time if you are not. Not to mention, most dungeons are crazy similar in their mechanics (kill all mobs, bring two boxes to holders, etc.) and end bosses of dungeons are pretty lame. Nightmare dungeons were a bit more fun cause the scaling made them more difficult but the rewards just aren't there to justify doing them. I'd give this a 3/10.

The world content varied greatly. Strongholds were amazing. Statues of Lilith / Renown grind was an insane grind and not very exciting outside Strongholds. World bosses were a complete joke. Side quests were mediocre, not much there. The horse is really bugged and the CD on it was kind of annoying. I'd give the outdoor content a 5/10.

Overall I give the game a 4/10. In my opinion, the developers really need to address the gameplay first and foremost. Barbarian was extremely boring and only having 6 abilities to use is such a disservice to modern games. If they fixed the vehicle im traversing the world through, doing dungeons and world content would be much more enjoyable. I think the game has a decent base to build off of, but is it worth 70 dollars, not now in my opinion.

The combat feels good and the leveling doesn’t feel too slow. The classes feel different enough. One thing Blizzard still seems to have with the right team and amount of time, IS good game feel. The sounds and the visuals are satisfying and the builds don’t feel one dimensional as Diablo 3 did and you actually can have versatile subtypes within each class like how a druid can build to focus on being a werebear tank, a wind/lightning mage, an animal whisperer, or a combination of it all. Similar with other classes too how sorcerers can have different elemental specializations and mix and match with beautiful and bright effects and punchy sounds.

The story seems to be one of those you either love it or you hate it.

It’s also a better sequel to Diablo 3 than Overwatch 2 was to Overwatch 1(which blizzard released as basically the same game lol).

Diablo IV does feel different enough and strikes a good combination of simple and complex.

And it’s an ARPG. You play it for the fun explosions and effects and getting better and better loot which this satisfies pretty well.

Sadly, as of launch, there isn’t MUCH to do in the endgame when you hit the later/max levels, but they have plans for seasons and expansions to add more. The leveling process and the classes themselves are fun though and you’ll get a ton of enjoyment out of it.

Edit: As of the Season 1 patch I can’t in good conscience recommend this game anymore. Anything that was bad is doubled down and anything that was remotely fun is nerfed. Leveling was slowed down, classes already gutted, itemization not addressed, endgame activities heavily nerfed.

Maybe I’ll edit this if they fix it but maybe I won’t bother like they don’t seem to bother with this game.

I expect these developers to work much harder at the outrageous price of $70.

Truth be told, I don't even have much of a problem with non-P2W microtransactions, because I have to accept reality that AAA online PvP multiplayer on Playstation will basically only happen if MTX is included. You can thank greedy and lazy "story-driven" developers like Sony Santa Monica for that, because they save so much money by giving us half of the game at full price, and still make bank. So of course, developers that give us the full game are going to monetize the online portion for that extra work. My problem is that I already spent $70 on this mobile game that isn't even close to a true AAA experience, and the greedy developers still have the audacity to add MTX. Seeing how this is an online only mobile game with MTX, it should've been free-to-play. This outrageous greed makes EA and Take-Two look like saints in comparison. At least they have full priced games with actual AAA quality. Battlefront 2 or GTA V alone has better quality than the entire Blizzard catalogue combined. That's embarrassing.

As I already mentioned, this game is online only. So once the developers decide to shut down the servers, this game will end up in the trash can. Charging $70 for a game with no offline modes is a cash grab. The multiplayer is trash. Online is unstable. Blizzard proves once again they aren't capable of making a game with AAA quality. Nothing but free-to-play quality games from these lazy and greedy developers. Blizzard fans ranting over MTX is very ironic. If you're one of those gamers that spent $70+ on WoW, then you have no right to speak against MTX, because you're the reason why they exist in the first place. If a 2004 shovelware can get hundreds upon thousands of dollars from just one person, what do you think the rest of the studios will do? Exactly, how hypocritical. I don't recommend this game at all, unless you want to support laziness.

I dunno, they need to fix this personally I uninstalled this morning, reinstalled POE for the next week until Remnant 2 comes out then I might consider coming back once all of this is fixed but you took a game that was decently fun on launch and turned it into a boring slog with the last update. I tried a helltide last night and it was night and day compared to pre patch I can't believe how bad it has become.

I'm aware some day with paragon that will flip, but I hate the design decision.

I absolutely do not like having no proper crafting options.

I don't like the itemization, especially the vulnerable stat.

And the icing on the cake for me is the $70 price tag, the greedy early access program, and then selling skins in game for sometimes as much as $30.

The game is no only irritating in key ways, it's also just morally bankrupt from a financial point of view. I'm not going to say it's the worst game ever, but if 5 is middle of the road, this is a 4 for me.

Diablo IV, sorry Diablo Immortal 2 is a product with little creativity that has been stripped of the key elements characteristic of hack and slash and action RPG games.

The itemization and crafting system have been taken from the mobile game, which means it is not satisfying for players expecting a deeper and more elaborate experience.

ITs a huge map, but its basically all the same. Its so generic. All races are resource buildup usage.
The bosses have such little personality, and the fights are booring. Usually Blizzard has good hang of movement, but its like there is delay in movements, its not fluent at all. The fact that mobs level up as you do, takes away all feeling of progress except for the level number. There is no feeling of getting huge boosts in power. Weapons are not fun to find, since everything is useless once you level up and find next level gear. Honestly not untill you are level 100 the search for best in slow weapons beginss for real. Crafting is a light version of NIOH, simple.
IT just feels like running up a hill forever.
Endgame is literally nonexistent, with only 1 boss, which they now removed.
The builds are locked down by blizzard, almost no freedoom for creation.
Honestly if you played POE this seem like its made by amateurs or an indy company.
NO imagination at all. Nothing new.
There is no HEART in the game, no mood. Yet again a wasted opportunity from a once proud gamecompany.
I will stick to companies who actually put their entire soul into their game instead, like Fromsoftware especially or TeamNinja.
RIP blizzard...... I will always cherish and respect BLizzard North For D1 and D2.

I love this game. It's been such a long time coming, and the first 35 or so levels are an absolute joy to progress through. However, after that, it becomes dull, stretched out and repetitive. The game focuses on tedium as opposed to content to entice players to continue and purchase cosmetics. Once I complete the story, I likely will not return for another few seasons.

Yeah so I logged in just to change my score from a 9 to a 0.
Diablo 4 endgame and balancing is a pathetic excuse. How about some real balance patches and making the game more fun instead of more grindy. Oh but what's that the psychologist team at blizzard said you have to implement as many mechanics and patches to keep players hooked and play for longer? Well I DON'T care, fix the game.

This game has a lot of promise, but I am truly amazed by how far downhill this game has gone in just the month since its release. The developers continue to implement unfathomable changes that seemingly serve no apparent purpose other than to reduce or eliminate aspects of the game that the players considered to be the most enjoyable. I find it all to be incredibly confusing.

The devs had great open world games such as Guild Wars 2 to study for their open world, yet delivered the most flaccid gaming open world experience I've ever been a part of. The game may as well have just been a single player game. The ARPG element is ruined as your 'chase' items are basically just praying for an item to drop with 3 of 4 good mods then a gold sink trying to get your 4th mod from the enchanter where the good mods are weighted to not appear.
There are several better and cheaper games out there in the same genre and I would recommend someone who is on the fence to stay away.

First off, build diversity, itemization, dungeon / boss diversity, open world travel, terrible class and build balancing, lack of QOL things (only 4 stashes), numerous game-breaking bugs are just a few things to note about the game. I wasn't particularly impressed with the music given the iconic music we got from Diablo 2.
On a positive note, the game does have some great things going for it in it's story, art, voice acting lore, and general feel of gameplay.

My advice for those on the fence about purchasing the game: If you are okay with dropping 70 dollars to mostly enjoy playing through the campaign before you move on to the next game then D4 might be for you. For everyone looking for any semblance of endgame enjoyment and replayability my advice would be to look at other titles in the genre coming soon such as Baldurs gate 3 or Path of Exile 2. D4 has potential but it will likely take at least a year of further development before it gets the problems mentioned here addressed.

Instead of addressing what the problems were, and claiming that they considered out feedback; they ruined the game play for all classes and players. They literally think players wanted a longer time to teleport out of dungeons. They need to fire the devs and bring people who care about quality and retention, not just a quick buck. So happy I uninstalled today.

Blizzard developers would rather appease their bosses than make a game that’s fun. They’ve shown their true colors, made a 180 on all their promises, and gutted the game simply to increase they’re metrics. Greedy and dishonest. Don’t get this game, because the developers don’t care about you. They just want your money,

I've played each Diablo game in the series. This game had a lot going for it as I played through the campaign. The pacing was really good, I felt like I got upgrades at a decent rate. As I reached higher levels it became repetitive and the end game was very underwhelming. There's no sense of adventure, exploration, or that "just one more mob kill" feeling. This is Diablo 3 all over again. They launched that game in a complete mess, thinking they knew what they wanted. Took them several years before they got loot and fun factor right there. In Diablo4, they are doing ALL the same mistakes again. So expect sevaral years, to get them to understand that. Dont play Season 1, just uninstall, and play something else.

Interesting campaign, good cinematics but unfortunately that is about all the good I have to say for the game.

The already lengthy, and at times tedious, journey to max level was just made so much worse with XP nerfs with the 1.1 patch. In a game whose genre finds most of its replayability through build experimentation and entertaining gameplay loops, you'll be surprised to find that

In a game whose genre finds most of its replayability through build experimentation and entertaining gameplay loops, you'll be surprised to find that Blizzard have opted to discourage both of those facets of gameplay. Build experimentation has been hamstringed through exorbitant costs and tedious skill refund systems. Interesting and entertaining gameplay loops have been universally nerfed for all classes and survivability has been largely removed from classes, particularly for high tier content.

The development strategy of D4 appears to be solely metrics driven with the primary, or possibly only, metric being time spent. The development team at Blizzard have gone to great lengths to increase the amount of time players spend in the game but have done so not by providing a world and gameplay experience we as players want to consistently return to, but by enacting changes that increase friction and introduce needlessly grindy systems.

I would not be able to recommend this game, even for die hard Diablo franchise fans, in its current state.

Doesn’t it say enough that I made this account specifically for leaving them a bad review?

And turn it into a laughing stock, a complete embarrassment. At first the game was fun, but through patches and nerfs

And turn it into a laughing stock, a complete embarrassment. At first the game was fun, but through patches and nerfs it’s a total snooze fest and they don’t listen to their players, in fact, they do the opposite. “It it ain’t broken, we’ll break it”
“if it’s broken, we’ll smash it into tiny pieces” Advice for other game devs - take notes from blizzard, this is how NOT to run a game.

El juego tenía potencial hasta la salida del parche 1.1.0 nerfearon las builds más usadas pero no dieron una mejora a ninguna otra, ahora se obtiene menos exp. Los mobs tienen más vida y los personajes hacen menos daño además de resistir menos.

At the game's release, I was hopeful but cautious given Blizzard's recent history. The game at the state of launch was seriously lacking, but the potential of season 1 fixing a lot of the fundamental issues and end-game bulk kept my hopes up. It is obvious to me now that the developers have absolutely no passion for this game, and the release is purely fuelled by monetary decisions. The recent patch also shows that the developers have no idea how their game works, or should work for that matter. The decisions by the developers have not only failed to improve the game, but actively ruined it further. I have been waiting years for this release, and have never been so disappointed by the ability for such a large and established company to deliver so little. The fact that Blizzard use the selling point that it has been in development for 9 years was aspirational pre-launch, but is now just utterly embarrassing. Fix your game. Expand

Avoid purchasing this game, you will get less than mediocre ARPG experience. Developers doesn't understand what's going on and the patches being implemented seems solely based on what the SQL queries return on most popular/unpopular. There is no deep understanding of the classes/game issues and it seems to take years before this can be fixed.

Don't fall for the Diablo trademark, this is far from the original Diablo experience, and I've played all 4 of them. Blizzard slowly trading their reputation for money.

Path of exile -> Last Epoch -> Wolcen -> Starting at paint dry -> Diablo4.

Patch 1.1 has destroyed this game. I've always been a big Diablo fan and loved the Betas for Diablo 4 but it has got progressively worse with each patch up to the point of it has become a chore to play. I was looking forward to Season 1 but now I don't even care to play the game again as I stands right now

There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV — best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.

The visuals are probably what excited me the most. The way the game looks and the atmosphere makes me feel like I'm playing the old Diablo again. On steroids and on a quadruple screen TV, but the feeling is still there. [Issue#328]

Diablo is back, and taking no prisoners. The top-quality, lengthy campaign will be enough for some, while the endgame should prove a welcome obsession for others. [Issue#30, p.84]
