Absolutely devoid of any meaningful content. The "always online" aspect that adds nothing to the game except for server errors. You just find yourself going "Why do i even keep playing?" I didn't enjoy the game at all, here's why.
    - The gameplay is slow and it's not fun at all. I played as Druid and somewhere mid-game I regret the decision because killing mobs was so slow! I don't want to spend the whole evening in one dungeon trying to get through simple mobs after work, I want to feel like the main character, play an hour or so, and have FUN out of it, not frustration...
    - As for an action game, the gameplay has a minimal fun factor to it, spamming two buttons over and over, and because of the terrible energy system, most of the time I was using the first spell just to get energy back.
    - Scaling could be okay if you would have any sense of progression, but because the good gear is almost impossible to drop, it's just not fun to engage in anything. - just rush the story.
    - Also scaling with the current system ruins the sense of progression completely.
    - The story itself is not bad, and side missions are okay-ish, but the rest with the slow gameplay was a "skip" to me.
    - The world is okay, I preferred the world design from Diablo 3 more, but it's just my preference.
    - The game is laggy! And buggy...
    - Horse riding is not very good
    - COOLDOWNS ON EVERYTHING! Why am I walking SO SLOW!?
    - Paid Battle Pass and Store in a 100 euro game is a joke, haven't I paid for the product already?

I feel like the game was designed to be hated. No fun, no progression, just greed, and annoyance. Super disappointing.

For me it was a total marketing trap that i fell for. On the surface and for a couple of hours gameplay Diablo 4 looks awesome.

I tried to go back to the very first small village i started the game in and the monsters there were EXACTLY as difficult as when i first saw them that can be said for the rest of my 30 hr journey in D4.

Then since i played the sorc class the field of view (FOV) started to really annoy me. AS a ranged class you cant help but to play the same as melee since camera distance is SO CLOSE and the angle is so bad you cant see anything until you are almost on top of it! Camera felt nauseating aswell.

After about the third village it the world and the monsters started to look and feel the same everywhere i went. By then the story had lost all momentum and i was left to aimlessly wander (that was about 5th hour mark)

After that was more of the same and when i understood that i didnt like the game at all it was too late to refund it´.

DONT FALL INTO THE SAME TRAP I DID!
WATCH THE TRAILERS THATS THE BEST PART OF THE GAME AND ITS FREE!

PS. I regret wasting my money. I have never paid that much for a computer game.

    8. No custom saved build for you and make you harder to switch build to have fun
    9. Rarest items almost never exist
    10. Only 6 skills slot maximum. Why we can't have 12 skills at a time in 2023?
    11. You don't feel stronger cause enemies' level and your level are scaled so that you always play like yesterday.
    12. Instead of more unique cosmetic, they put them in the Real Money Eshop so they wanted you to pay more on top of $70 base game

The new update exemplifies a growing trend within the industry, one that substitutes genuine player enjoyment and rich content with a psychologically manipulative grind. It's a phenomenon that serves neither the players nor the long-term health of the franchise.

Patch 1.1, far from offering substantive content, only seems to amplify the grind, widening the rift between the developer's promises and the player's reality. This approach is the antithesis of what has made the gaming industry thrive. Games have historically been about escaping the daily grind, not immersing ourselves in a digital one. The intricate layers of joy, challenge, and reward are what make games irresistible, not the artificial lengthening of gameplay through tedious tasks.

While it is not uncommon to find games that require some degree of grind to progress, Diablo IV’s latest patch takes this to an unhealthy extreme. It neglects the wide spectrum of players, catering only to the most dedicated who have ample time to invest. This is not an inclusive approach. Many casual players who would love to immerse themselves in the rich lore and challenging battles Diablo IV promises are left feeling alienated and unappreciated.

Instead of cultivating a healthy relationship with their player base, the developers have chosen a path that fuels division and fosters toxicity. Their focus appears to be centered on profits, with little regard for the gamer's experience. This exploitative trend is the true villain in the gaming community, creating a divide between players and the games they once loved.

Pre-orders once represented a pact of trust, a statement of faith in the developer's vision. Yet, Diablo IV, like many games of late, uses it as a gateway to secure commitment before unveiling a gameplay model that borders on manipulation. The pre-order system has been warped into a shroud that masks the lack of creative solutions for engaging gameplay, leaving players with a sour taste of regret.

The Diablo franchise, renowned for its deeply satisfying action and atmospheric world, has been diluted by a patch that seems more concerned with maintaining player engagement than providing a meaningful gaming experience. The unfulfilling grind, the focus on the endless chase of illusory achievements, is indicative of a fundamental misunderstanding of what makes a game enjoyable.

Developers have the power and responsibility to shape the gaming community. They are the architects of our digital realms and the guardians of our shared experiences. It's time they reconsider their approach, shifting their focus from profits to players. After all, games are crafted for players to enjoy, not for developers to exploit. The real currency of any game is the joy it brings to its players. Once developers grasp this concept, they might just rediscover the secret to crafting masterpieces that resonate with us all. In its current state, Diablo IV and its latest patch fail to uphold this crucial understanding. We can only hope that the developers will rekindle their passion for delivering rewarding experiences and steer the franchise back on course before it's too late.

The flavor just isn't there, it's dry. I rarely even care about the loot I pick up because most of it isn't usable without restructuring your entire build around a probably temporary piece of gear that doesn't seem to really feel any better. Diablo 4 has taken away the joy of finding a new legendary and replaced with a great deal of "meh". I thought the throwback to a Diablo 2 style skill tree would be great, but they sucked the life out of that as well with punitive rising costs for changing skills, the skill bar is much too small too explore your abilities and experiment. The story is okay, the main character voice actors are excellent, but ultimately no matter how good of a job they did, the ending was anticlimactic and forgettable. I've little doubt they will milk it for DLC before too long, but honestly, why bother? They put in a half effort on the main game, and I've little interest in rewarding their laziness by paying them again to do a little bit better. Blizzard used to be great, and I will always appreciate the work they once did. Maybe if Activation gets their mitts off of Blizzard they will be a gaming company again instead of the soul less corporate entity that their newest game mirrors.

On a minor side note, I really miss hearing Brian George's Abd al-Hazir monster entries and James Hong's jewelcrafter story telling, little things like that being barely present at all in DIablo 4, the small details like that added up to make a game that felt far less empty. Diablo 3 was far from perfect, but at least it was fun. Diablo 4 just feels grindy and hollow to me.

With some of these AAA companies, beta testing is the new alpha, and release is the new beta. With d3, the end game was non existent. The full diablo experience was beating the game 4 times exactly as it was. Across each class it evened out to beating the game 20 times, and then youre done. What an absolute trashcan of a model. I cant believe that they released that. Now a decade later, the same issue prevails in a new skin. Do nightmare dungeons endlessly, and thats the end game.

They had many, many years of working with their player base over D3. Those lessons should have transferred over to the release of D4. It did not. Instead Activi-zzard has chosen to release a game that feels like its in early access. Their fan boys will jump for joy as each path is released containing small scraps to enhance their experience. All the meanwhile it is a ruse to keep players, and to seem like they're doing anything. Im calling it now at the end of july in 2023. The patches they release over the next year are gonna be things that should have been on launch, and the amount of work they will do over the year could realistically be done next month. Instead, they choose to use words that make it seem like every little change is so hard, and that they're THINKING about doing certain things. Its all a total joke. They want to string people along as much as they can. The game is addicting, but most people equate that to fun. Its not fun to run around in this game. The side quests, are not fun. Doing the storyline, walking 80% of it before they give you a mount, is not fun. Doing nothing but nightmare dungeons for marginally less gear, is not fun. Doing a stat squish and a cross the board nerf in your second patch, is not fun. The game is addictive because big money paid for it to have qualities that would create that. If you stop for a moment and ask yourself how much fun the general experience is at the end of the day, I think most people will realize youre just playing watered down WoW in arpg form, with little content to its name. They just make it take forever (remember, d3 was beating the game 20 mf times across all the classes) to give the mind some sense of reward.

This company is a horror antagonist with slashed off face covering theirs, and that plastered on face is blizzard north. Theyre gone, this company is nothing at all like them, and this new one has passed a new level of insufferable that passes even EA at this point.

Its tragic all the names I grew up with are as horrific as they are. if blizzard gave even the tinyest crap about their player base, theyd pump out the quality of life at about 20x the speed they currently are. They are fully capable of doing so, they just dont want to cause of paying employees, or to draw out their profits for share holders. This game is not for the player, its for the company.

I regret each of my 150 hours I put into this game before I realized what was happening. It was a massive waste of time and thanks to this game, I will never, ever, give another cent to blizzard. I drew that line with EA and Ubisoft, and now someone I once loved so dearly who carry's their name is also across that line on the "Do not buy" category.

Its barely even a game company so much anymore as it is a money grubbing time waster. It should be moved to the classification of simulation games because all it does is simulate pure misery.

I paid 90€ for this garbage, with a season pass and i won't even play it because the game isn't worth my time and yours.

One wonders why Blizzard keeps coming up with such insane ideas. How to make a Season 1 completely unattractive before it even starts. If you still want players in Season 2, you should listen to the players now. Microsoft is pretty stupid to buy such a company as Activision Blizzard.

No randomized Dungeons/Area's just the same boring stuff with stolen mechanics from PoE (not well implemented). Even in Hardcore the Endgame is boring af and if you die its

I am sure it's totally normal for a multi billion dollar comapny to need 4 months for a little fix. This game wasn't made for you. Wasn't made for us. It was made to make as much money with season passes as possible. And to make sure we all play the season and need the season pass, everything else gets a nerf. Let's nerf every class, increase enemy hp and decrease xp across the board. Artificially making the gaming experience slower is a sad excuse for lack of end game content. Was excited for Season 1, but this new update changed that. Also, $70 for a game, but a paid battle pass and $25 skins in the shop? Nice one Blizzard.

Open world is a joke, during campaign it had a meaning to explore and find stuff, but non-campaign quests give no plausible reward and randon mobs on the open world isn't worth farming. On endgame, you just teleport to your dungeon.
You cant replay campaign bosses/maps unless you start a new char.
Inventory space is not enough to keep more then a couple of spare parts of gear, gems, aspects, etc.
And then, there comes S1 patch notes, that made everything worse, even some stuff that was working.

I've reached level 98 and don't even want to bother getting to 100. It's just not worth the time. It's too repetitive. I'm lvl 98 wearing lvl 60 n 70 gear and don't even need to change it. There are no real rewards for reaching max level so why bother? Once you reach lvl 60-70 and get ancestral gear there really isn't any point in leveling up. Unless it's just to run repetitive and boring nightmare dungeons. I've started playing other way older Rpgs again. That's how boring Diablo 4 has gotten. Season is no better. I've reached lvl 78 and just can't be bothered to level any higher. What's the point? Also, spending 20 mill to reroll one thing on one item is super annoying. And also I've played over 500 hours of this game and not gotten even one Uber unique. I don't really care about them but still. Doesn't that drop rate seem just a little too low? Expand

I have had more fun with some and less with others, but overall each has been enjoyable and replayable products. Most recently I have been heavily invested in their diablo franchise, and while Diablo 3 had a bit of a rough rollout (the game itself was good, the servers, and the always on nature of the game requiring them, made them frustrating at moments. A few missteps were made attempting to introduce real money into the auction house but after it was carved out, the game was once again, fun to play. It was clearly designed to appeal to the end user, whether they were seasoned grinders, or casual players looking for some fun couch co-op. So, when Diablo IV was hinted at a few years back as a work in progress, I was very excited. However, the influence of Activision loomed large in their decision to launch a pay to win time suck of product a'la Diablo Immortal in a proper game's place. It was and still is a garbage product intended only to such the finances and time out of desperately addicted fools for the sake of their bottom line. While dismayed, i remained hopeful for what was promised to be a legitimate successor to the Diablo franchise, a game hinted at, but always just around the corner. Finally in , we were gifted a playable demo of the fabled unicorn. The early access and public betal playthrough to level 25 and around in ACT I of the final game were amazing. The play was fun, the progression and kill advancement felt worthwhile and I was hooked. I went ahead and paid them for the ultimate edition for myself, and picked up 3 more copies for my wife and kids so that we could play together in the full game.

Well, now that the final product has been available for a few weeks, i realize why the betas were limited as much as they were. While the storyline progresses a bit further, and the overall lore is good, the game grinds to a haul soon afterward. Even before the end of hte campaign the game begins to feel repetitive and mindless, the sidequests have good information, but as you work to complete those, you end up leveling your character, without much benefit as far as loot to increase your power output - however, due to the same keep them grinding logic that went into diablo immortal, the monsters have no such issues increasing in strength commensurate to your newly aquire level, and your ability to progress greatly diminishes. This is inevitable slowdown is ONLY mitigated by following extremely precise calculated build paths that are in no way intuitive just looking at the game layout, items or states visible to the player. You pretty much need either a build guide you follow (not playing a game) or a massive pivot table/spreadsheet to calculate on a case by case basis, if any one of the hundreds of items you do procure is going to benefit or harm your ability to even damage the next identical, but ever stronger, bad guy.

In my case, i quit well before reaching level 100 on my first character - the game is only designed to be completeable if you sink your entire waking day into it, over and over, with non-stimulating chores such as, parsing items, killing the same spawned mobs, and using a very poorly explained mechanics to open rifts, sorry, i mean nightmare dungeons. But, even then, just this week, Blizzard decided that the mindless, unsatisfying play experience was just TOO FAST, as you only need to play 16 hours a day 5 days a week for a month to beat it, so, they nerfed the crap out of all the heros, buffed the monsters and reduced the experience gained from them. I would have rated the game a solid 5, and wouldn't recommend it. But now It's an exploitative 2 at best, and i actually feel conned out of $310 for my 4 game copies. This is corporate greed and a complete disregard for their player's lives, money and free time.

It felt a bit like an early release without them telling you it was before purchasing, During this faux early release period (pre season 1 patch) there wasn't much to do once you leveled up. No real chase items (and once those chase items became obtainable by around 140 people them made sure to put an end to shat real fast). There is really nothing to actually do except sink 300+ attempts into a boss fight that is literally just move to avoid mechanics or else you die in literally one hit. So we patiently awaiting this "huge season 1 patch" The only thing huge about it was disappointment. The nerfed essentially every single class, they gutted the Sorceress class that was already by far the worse class in the game, and to add insult to injury they got the only new unique that is actually detrimental to use, They are quick to nerf anything players enjoy and a slog to release things the player asked for which has only been like 3 things they have answered to. I guess they don't have to constantly try to answer player feedback (which they don't really do) if they don't have a player base to begin with. I would suggest playing Hero Siege (a pixel based diablo) over this game at this point..... Expand

Had fun pre season 1, now it’s a damn sh*t show. From an enjoyable game to an actual dog poo of a game.

Season 1 patch expands on blizzards attempts to make this game less enjoyable and more tedious while ignoring the QoL features that have been requested by the community from day 1 as many of these features were already in Diablo 3.

Re-rolling gear is actively discouraged by the current system because you cannot tell what pool of affixes are available when you try to swap one, the cost to do so is so high that its best to give up after a few rolls. There is minimal bag and stash space for all those yellows you'd like to try and re-roll, most will be duds because of how expensive it is so you're encouraged to keep any decent ones.. In your tiny stash space. For a game that is about collecting gear this poses a problem and becomes a deal breaker if you play more than 1 character as stash space is shared.

An ARPG with no good loot? Most unique items available to each class are out performed by well rolled yellows upgraded with well rolled aspects. In D3 rolling a primal set piece with decent stats was a great feeling, going to the enchanter and knowing you can get 1 more bis stat on it definitely a good time.

They added a mount but made it so there are walls, cliffs, obstacles that block you quite often and you can get stuck on corners very easily. It seems like the idea behind the mount was lets give it to them but make it awful to use. Most classes can move faster than a mount anyway.

I feel like the decision makers behind Diablo 4 were too eager to make their own mark on the franchise and as such most of what made Diablo 3's endgame enjoyable has been removed in favor of systems and itemization that actively deter players from doing what ARPG's are best at, clearing maps quickly, efficiently and collecting worthwhile loot.

New Patch made the game worse than it was before. Needs to heavily improve on QoL features. Everything feels slow and unrewarding

Repetitive and grindy got even more repetitive and grindy. No real endgame content outside of a single "uber boss" that usually requires meme builds not used anywhere else. Buff the useless things, e.g. camel has its voice now.

Blizzard had everything going for this game but decided to do nothing to fix bugs and common, valid complaints, and instead nerfed every class based on reasoning that crumbles upon encountering an ounce of critical thought. Maybe in 2 years or so they will manage to remove their heads from their cash holes.

This was my first Diablo game and I initially enjoyed the game, but this latest patch is one of the worse I have experienced. I spent about 17 million gold rerolling affixes on my gear just for them to nerf everything into the ground the next day. After sinking way too much time into the game just for them to nerf having fun I’ve uninstalled and won’t be trying out Diablo again Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After being very excited when it came out. The developers have done nothing but make the game worse with each patch instead of addressing the actual issues to make the game better. I'll come back in a year and try the game and see if they figured it out yet. Expand

The only good thing in this patch is that iam gonna play Baldurs Gate 3 when it comes out. No need to play a slow downed season for some cosmetic garbage reward.

Awful 1.1 patch destroyed playability. Helltides are no longer worth running, and exp gain is nerfed. Why, Blizzard?

There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV — best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.

The visuals are probably what excited me the most. The way the game looks and the atmosphere makes me feel like I'm playing the old Diablo again. On steroids and on a quadruple screen TV, but the feeling is still there. [Issue#328]

Diablo is back, and taking no prisoners. The top-quality, lengthy campaign will be enough for some, while the endgame should prove a welcome obsession for others. [Issue#30, p.84]
