    As a longtime fan of the Diablo franchise, it genuinely pains me to have to write such a review, but the latest patch for Diablo 4 has left me with no other choice. Blizzard has historically managed to meet or even surpass expectations with their continuous updates, however, this time around, the implementation feels more like a misstep    A Major Disappointment - Latest Diablo 4 Patch

    As a longtime fan of the Diablo franchise, it genuinely pains me to have to write such a review, but the latest patch for Diablo 4 has left me with no other choice. Blizzard has historically managed to meet or even surpass expectations with their continuous updates, however, this time around, the implementation feels more like a misstep than an upgrade.

    For starters, the new balancing adjustments made to the classes seem significantly out of sync. While it's understood that a certain level of class balancing is necessary, the degree of these changes has disrupted the strategic gameplay. Now, my Sorcerer feels less like the master of the elements and more like a wand-waving wizard from a children's book.

    While the Diablo franchise has always been known for its resilience and potential to bounce back, this latest update has undeniably damaged the game's reputation. It is my sincerest hope that Blizzard takes the critical feedback from its dedicated player base seriously and swiftly acts to rectify the current state of Diablo 4.

    In its current state, I cannot in good conscience recommend Diablo 4 to any prospective gamers, especially those who cherished the previous entries. This update does not honor the legacy of the Diablo franchise, nor does it offer the gaming experience we have come to expect from Blizzard. Until we see substantial improvements, my advice would be to keep your distance from this current iteration.    … Expand

    The game has its issues like most games that are new. However, for the PC they have an issue with memory leak that will ruin your GPU. If you go to the forum in either Reddit or Blizzard you will see numerous posts about this very issue. The game lags and disconnects you constantly due to this issue and the tech support will just say it’s in your end.     Even with high-end rigs, you must set all of the game settings to absolute minimum to avoid severe lag and game stuttering. Weekly updates take TWO days, wherein you are subject to being logged out at any time, even mid-battle. Once the updates are complete, you must troubleshoot the game again to regain any usability as all of the lagging and rubberbanding and stuttering that youEven with high-end rigs, you must set all of the game settings to absolute minimum to avoid severe lag and game stuttering. Once you think you have a class and build that you can live with, Blizzard cuts you off at the knees, laughs and points and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it in protest. They already have your money, you'll not get that back. Very close to $100 wasted to BETA TEST, as this game is obviously nowhere near complete, judging from all the nerfs that they roll out weekly. Microtransactions are nowhere near MICRO. The average skin will set you back about $30 to $40 USD, AND it's a very slightly tweeked, perhaps color slightly altered version of a skin you can get absolutely free in the game.     Patch ruined the game. Really enjoyed it while it lasted. It’s like blizzard rolled out this patch to spite its user-base. The nerfs didn’t even satisfy the goals of the developers to reduce need for things like crit & vulnerable damage. I understand the game needed to provide a bit more of a challenge, but they could have been much more reasonable. For those reasons, I’m out…

    Game was mediocre starting out with my first character, playing through the campaign it felt decent, average ARPG. After the campaign however this is when the game severely falls off. There is barely a sense of progression after the campaign. End Game is non existent.

    TBH I put too much faith in "you think you do, but you don't" "Don't you guys own phones" modern Blizz. They have continued to sacrifice player fun for profit without realizing the truth that all of the good will for the company was from when they made games that were fun to play. I fell in to this nostalgia trap. Loved D1 bought it the week it came out. Loved D2 drove 200 miles to get a copy on launch day. More or less enjoyed D3, launch was terrible but it at least felt like they were addressing players issues with the game, love the current seasons.

    Basically the way they decided to "fix" their lack of fun endgame content was simply to make it harder to get there in the first place.
    I have seen a lot of people trying to justify the massive nerf to all classes by pointing out that the S1 mechanic will make up for that. . . I would be inclined to agree if this didn't effect the Eternal realm. Seasonal content should be optional not mandatory.    … Expand

    Bought early access. Was having fun up until July 18, where the game completely changed to an ultramarathon for only the sweatiest of gamers. Fun was gutted. That’s what gaming is, or at least was, for. Corporate greed at its pinnacle with this one. Fool me once shame on me. Fool me twice, well I can’t get fooled again.

Nightmare dungeons can be reset infinitely without consuming sigils and what did the devs do but removed the only fun affix on a dungeon which is Magic Find! More stash space and Gem Tabs which are easy quality of life    Could have been the greatest ARPG but developers are out of touch with their player base and making the game FUN.

The most recent patch (season 1 hasn't even started yet) completely halted player progression and gutted build diversity. They made all gear worse, all builds worse, all defenses worse, all events worse, and all XP gains worse. They nerfed the class that is already at the very bottom of the tier lists to oblivion. They also introduced new aspects and uniques that bring absolutely nothing to the game. Do not waste your time or your money. Trust me, I have wasted both putting my faith in Activision Blizzard. Feels like a money grab to make people buy battlepass levels to level quicker. This company makes me sick tbh.     Post patch 1.1, meh, everything is slower, A LOT slower. Why can't I fight enemy's above my level in the overworld?     Blizzard killing the game with a new patches. No balance at all, necro can oneshot uber lilith but sorcerer can path dungeon +10 lvl. They nerfed the exp gain, they disabled the alt fast progression. My overall impression that the game and most characters designed to 1-50 lvl but not more

    Story wise it was good, and pre season 1 patch the bones were a great start. A lot of QoL expectations missed and some questionable design issues, but generally worth it. They posted preseason 1 patch and nerfed the entire game. Didn’t even patch to update, just uninstalled. No real QoL improvements and no new cool news. Makes D3 marketplace laughable.

    The devs are tone deaf and patch after patch degrading the game enjoyment. no QoL improvements, reduction of xp, reduction of damage, making everything go slower while making the game less enjoyable (eg nerf of helltides)

Now with the new season and things added it will be just probably one more hour if any to play. Used to play since beta got early acces and was actually enjoying this game like many others untill the latest patch. Blizzard is so disconnected to its community its laughable.

Constant rubber banding, lack of dungeon diversity it gets old fast. The latest patch has just dragged out the mechanics further for future seasons.     You know why. I have never uninstalled a game so fast, and I invested enough time to have a level 100 character. I was actually enjoying it, but what a way to rip all the joy and life out of something in a single patch. You done goofed Blizzard.

    Absolute garbage. 1-50 is pretty fun just skill and campaign wise, but falls SHARPLY off after that. No reason to loot anything, all special items are complete garbage for 95% of the builds. Feels like we’re in a paid beta. Really horrible advertising tactics. Do Not Buy!!!

The looting rate wasn’t great but instead of improving it, devs made the farming system harder and dragged the whole process even further. More bugs than a picnic basket at the park. The patches are always to fix bugs and nerf characters in some way. Please stay away from this game there are many other options. There is even news to where the developer themselves said to play another game while playing this one. To current players I apologize but nerfing cool down reduction was the one for me. It felt slow as is already and reducing cool down reduction was simply just to hurt the players and waste more time. There was absolutely no reason for this nerf because it was not powerful just made the game play bearable to play the least.… Expand

Player fun is not factored into these decisions at all. This is not a Diablo game, any resemblance to quality Blizzard titles of the past are gone. Blizzard is dead, this game exists to make you play longer,This is Diablo Immortal but for pc and console under the guise of the name Diablo IV.     I wanted to start with a fresh mind into the next season and got the papyrus of patch notes for S1 which effectivly extend the level progress (artificially) and nerf all charakters. I will have a look at the evening but I played 30 minutes with my hunter and it was just terrible and I directly switched off this    Was a good game in the beginning and I really enjoyed my 150 hours into it.
    I wanted to start with a fresh mind into the next season and got the papyrus of patch notes for S1 which effectivly extend the level progress (artificially) and nerf all charakters. I will have a look at the evening but I played 30 minutes with my hunter and it was just terrible and I directly switched off this game.
    I was in general excited what blizz would do out of diablo. start was fairly okaisch -> gone to : embarrassement.

But every Diablo game up to 4 has an addictive quality that can keep you up all night, and during the day you're counting down when you can get more time in. Diablo 4, not at all.. And multiplayer was better implemented on Diablo 2 TWENTY THREEWeirdly boring, not fun, feels like a chore, can barely get the enthusiasm to keep playing. Yes it's a return to the tone of the earlier games. But every Diablo game up to 4 has an addictive quality that can keep you up all night, and during the day you're counting down when you can get more time in. Diablo 4, not at all..     The Game had its flaws, seasons was meant to be what we were waiting for, instead they nerfed everything. xp and lvling were rough but now they are unbearable clearly blizzard have no idea what their fans want, the game is unplayable making already annoyed fans like myself quit the game until they fix it or just move on entirely. This game will die completely in its current state.

Truth be told, I don't even have much of a problem with non-P2W microtransactions, because I have to accept reality that AAA online PvP multiplayer on Playstation will basically only happen if MTX is included. You can thank greedy and lazy "story-driven" developers like Sony Santa Monica for that, because they save so much money by giving us half of the game at full price, and still make bank. So of course, developers that give us the full game are going to monetize the online portion for that extra work. My problem is that I already spent $70 on this mobile game that isn't even close to a true AAA experience, and the greedy developers still have the audacity to add MTX. Seeing how this is an online only mobile game with MTX, it should've been free-to-play. This outrageous greed makes EA and Take-Two look like saints in comparison. At least they have full priced games with actual AAA quality. Battlefront 2 or GTA V alone has better quality than the entire Blizzard catalogue combined. That's embarrassing.… Expand

    Hard to say anything good, I have played all of the diablo series and must admit this game Is byfar the worst experience. I have over 15 years playing the series and not happy with blizzard and how they nerf everything into the ground. They have no clue what the community wants and just scales off everyone at the top 5 pct.

    Before lvl 50 - horrible grind in strong holds and redoing all the slow and boring quests. After lvl 50 the game becomes even more horrible having to do the same nine S- and A-tier nightmare dungeons over and over and over again. Finding items is no fun at all, since almost every unique is useless due to developers not giving them good stats, and legendaries are just "aspect holders". I would estimate 1 in about 1000 rare items have the stats you want, so be prepared to sort out yellow items like you have never done in your entire life. It's like doing the laundry again and again for hours but you will never get finished. Open world had potential to be fun, but they killed it with patch 1.1 when open world mobs are capped 5 levels below you, so it is just a waste of time. This also makes questing worthless once you hit World Tier 4, so if you saves some quests you will get nothing from them. I was looking forward to this game a lot, and was prepared to forgive many issues, but the game is broken in so many ways that I cannot see how they will put this together into a fun game at all. Also, difficulty scaling is among the most broken I have ever seen. Before World tier 4 everything feels slow and it takes time to kill stuff and move around, and once you get a few upgrades in World Tier 4 everything suddenly is way too easy, and you will be killing world and dungeon bosses in just a few seconds.… Expand

    Nerfing every class and ability and halting player progress in order to milk the same lackluster content is a bad move. Blizzard has become a sad company with no respect for its playerbase. Best stay away from this game until issues are properly addressed. If history repeats itself, that will be in 26 seasons, if ever.

    Game was alright for a few weeks, but the patch on 7/18/23 killed most aspects of the game. It’s a shame. Before it was a dumpster fire it was an alright game. Hopefully Blizzard will get its act together and resuscitate this game soon. Otherwise I can’t advise buying it in its current condition.

The patch nerfed damage, added health to mosters, nerfed horse riding speed (due to cool down reduction), added almost twice the time it takes to leave a dungeon (why you ask, no one knows.     Sorc Teleport on PS5 is junk , you cannot teleport full screen like on PC. The sorc teleport on PS5 distance is same like evade.
    Elemental resist is not working.
    Horse sprint on PS5 is not full sprint like on PC.

They should have made nm dungeons have better mob density and they should have the uber uniques in the game and make the basic uniques actually good.     Solo Campaign was fun but everything after it is pure trash. Blizzard just wants you to spend as much time as possible in this game but gives no reason why you should do it. Besides from that patch that made the game even worse up to not playable (infinite login time, full of bugs, invisible walls, quests not working and so on). But the shops always works fine.

    10 years of development time and Blizzard manages to release a game that is completely undercooked. Extremely buggy, unadressed VRAM leaks, a very poor UI, no endgame, limited character customization, and a season 1 patch that is honestly horrible as it nerfs everything with no compensation in terms of player power or rewards. A baffling failure overall. I have had no issue putting this game down.

    The final straw for me was sitting in queue for the past two hours. That's nothing new for a veteran Blizzard games enjoyer, but today it really hurt for the first time.

    I have 15 kids 3 wives and 5 jobs, and as such I only get two hours to play each day.

    Not today, today I sat in the queue. I got in once, however. For a glorious 10 minutes I got to explore the new season content: invisible walls, rubberbanding, stuck in loading screen while trying to enter a cellar, now stuck in queue.

    As I am writing this, the game crashed after waiting in queue for 20 minutes again.

    It was fun and exciting for the campaign, but after that, you level for a bit and progress somewhat when you can explore Nightmare Dungeons, or do Hell Tides, or just farm content. However, you quickly hit a wall in which you cannot progress. This was further amplified by the constant nerfs the developers implemented in various parts of the game.

    The game, now, is no longer something you are able to play and enjoy to reach player power increases. It is, unfortunately, made even worse by the considerable stat affixes that are amazing but never roll on your gear. This frustration is compounded by the introduction of the challenge of farming enough gold to, enable what should be a switch in character builds or specializations only limited by the random drops in the game, and not, be for paying for every system required for the switch. Thus, pulling you deeper into a downward spiral of a time sink, severly limiting play and forward momentum. This will only be exacerbated more during the seasons, when you have a time crunch and also a reset factor. Resent nerfs have made it even worse, clearly designed around the, now clearly apparent philosophy of ABK that: "time spent = content."

    I have already wasted my 120 dollars on this piece of garbage software that is now lining my recycle bin on my desktop. This is the first game in the franchise that I have ever uninstalled and stopped playing due to dissatisfaction with, not only the current version of the game, but also the deep flaws that exist in the character designs and key game mechanics/systems.

    Hold on to your precious dollars. There hundreds of better titles out there. Wait for the expansion and re-evaluate, in my opinion.

    I will not be buying another Activision, Blizzard, King title or anything related to this horrible company that clearly has lost touch with their player base and does not respect their player bases time.    … Expand

    There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV — best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.

    The visuals are probably what excited me the most. The way the game looks and the atmosphere makes me feel like I'm playing the old Diablo again. On steroids and on a quadruple screen TV, but the feeling is still there. [Issue#328]
