    TLDR: Its a Diablo III reskin with scantly more depth. Wait till on sale.

    The Good: - Its a Diablo III reskin - "same" gameplay with different skills and bonuses. Its fun, I put in over 80 hours, so I paid approximately $1.00/hr for fun. I may return in a couple of seasons, so my value goes up. - I thoroughly enjoyed season one... "The Barber", nuf said. The Bad: - At about    TLDR: Its a Diablo III reskin with scantly more depth.     The Good:
    - Its a Diablo III reskin - "same" gameplay with different skills and bonuses. Its fun, I put in over 80 hours, so I paid approximately $1.00/hr for fun. I may return in a couple of seasons, so my value goes up.
    - I thoroughly enjoyed season one... "The Barber", nuf said.

    The Bad:
    - At about level 85ish, the game loses its purpose and gets real boring and overly grindy.
    - Legendaries and Ancestrals need a name change to Powerball and MegaMillions. You have to go through 100's of them to find something to tolerate.
    - There is a LOT of stuff that is unexplained by the game. You must go find Youtubers to teach you otherwise you end up with 20 levels after you unlocked it, you will find things like the 's' button is a key part of a build or that power level, except for 700 and above, means nothing at all or that... list could go on for four or five paragraphs.
    - Only two or three side quests have characters and stories that are worth reading, and while we are at it (finger pointed at the whole industry), I am the most powerful wizard in the world...I defeated what heaven couldn't and your idea of great side quests are make them an errand boy *sigh*. If unlocking paragon points wasn't attached to them, I would never look at them again, as they don't effect jack.
    - Microtransactions, although not nearly as bad as 3 was in the beginning, if you want it, one complete outfit can cost you as much as the game.
    - If you don't pay for the season, your playability will be very limited.

    The Ugly
    - My biggest beef with Diablo IV is that in eleven years of development only this much got done? I expected more than a reskin with new skills which makes Diablo IV an eleven year old "Madden" game. You know the one, where EA updates a roster, adds a couple words and charges $70 every year. It took Blizzard 11 years to do what EA does every year.
    - Multiiplayer is super lacking. No hopping into random "Riifts" or interacting at all, in fact, when you see someone cross your path, you end up going the other way because it hurts you. My question is, what's the point of clans or being online-all-the-time if there is no good way to interact (other than emote "look" five million times). I joined two separate clans and unless you Discord, there is no simple way to hang out and join parties. Again, a D3 reskin.
    -Im old, I have seen and played all four iterations of Diablo on day one. If you look at the base, you will see a trend of most saying D2 was the best iteration, and with that I agree. Why is it we keep getting further from the best iteration rather than build upon that one? Oh yeah, that model didn't have season passes, microtransactions and was heading in a fantastic direction that we could all see.    … Expand

I've reached level 98 and don't even want to bother getting to 100. It's just not worth the time. It's too repetitive. I'm lvl 98 wearing lvl 60 n 70 gear and don't even need to change it. There are no real rewards for reaching max level so why bother? Once you reach lvl 60-70 and get ancestral gear there really isn't any point in leveling up. Unless it's just to run repetitive and boring nightmare dungeons. I've started playing other way older Rpgs again. That's how boring Diablo 4 has gotten. Season is no better. I've reached lvl 78 and just can't be bothered to level any higher. What's the point? Also, spending 20 mill to reroll one thing on one item is super annoying. And also I've played over 500 hours of this game and not gotten even one Uber unique. I don't really care about them but still. Doesn't that drop rate seem just a little too low?… Expand

    I was a huge Diablo Fan. But this Game is just Trash. They nerfed every fun Part. Explore 4 Dungeons and you`ve seen them all. Did i mentioned the 6 same Dungeonendbosses? Just wait for Path of Exile 2 - lot more to do, lot more fun and it costs 0$. Was my last Game from Bli$$ard.

    Don't support this terrible company. You will get exploited, playing their purposefully worse game just so their "engagement numbers" are up for the shareholders. Yuck! Avoid this like the plague.

    Ausencia total de dopamina, ni satisfactorio, ni divertido, ni entretenido. El pastiche perfecto de mecánicas erróneas de juegos centrados en la monetización agresiva sumado a un core que hace aguas por todos lados y una historia que parece sacada del juego más lagrimoso de Annapurna.

    Un despropósito de juego hecho sin ganas que marca el inicio del final de la saga Diablo.

    I played the main campaign to the end, and it was entertaining for the first few hours. 75% of the main campaign is just grind the same things until the end. I put the game down after i finishe dthe main campaign, i came back once to try the higher level stuff... and just uninstalled the launcher. No reason to touch it again.

    All the problems have been well described by others already, because they're painfully obvious. Soulless gameplay, loot, and a UI that's stunningly poorly designed.

    There are a hundred better games for less money. Don't forget your battlepass!

    staight to the main points i have:
    pros
    -the campaign i throughly enjoyed.
    -the boss appearances from previous diablo games
    -skill tree system mostly reminds me of diablo 2
    -able to respect
    -cinamatics
    -length of campaign
    -ability to skip campaign when creating new characters
    -seasonal content, as long as it's just cosmetics on the battle pass

    cons:
    -paragon board resets are more time consuming than resetting character skills when trying different builds
    -lack of public test realm at this time. would be great to have the playerbase try out a patch in development and give feedback
    -at this time lack of having the option to re-fight campaign bosses
    -patch implantation. the communication of patch has gotten better but it still can't go into the pros slot. of course characters got some damage and defense buffs, however depending on the nightmare dungeon you run after the density buff, the buffs to characters can be noticed or feel non-existant(at lease in my experience from what feels like 90% of the time i generate what feels like infinite crowd controlled mobs or mobs that deal high elemental damage for there is near to non-existant elemental defense which won't be fixed until season 2 last time i checked.)
    -getting infinitely crowd controlled by the mobs. most guides say just get more croud control duration reduction on gear. news flash, it does not help if you fight a mob and end up repeatly dazed, confused, frozen(and in some cases one shotted after being frozen), feared or worst case all of the above at the same time. when i enoucter that situtation with my break free ability on cooldown i just drop my controller and grab a drink before picking it up again to revive my character, just being honest
    -elemental resists(fire, ice, lighting). they are currently none existant. i doub that potions that claim to give them even work. as mentioned earlier, unless I'm wrong; the last time i checked elemental resistances won't be fixed until season 2.
    -being raw dogged by poison damage.
    -lack of build diversity meta's. there was a ranking of "top tier" builds after some recent patches and one of the character classes didn't even rank in any tier let alone F tier    … Expand

    I did not have high expectations for this game and maybe that's why I liked it overall. Initial release has small issues, which is normal for any new game, but the team managed to deliver on many things for this game, keeps listening to the community and fixes many problems as they occur. What I liked the most is the instant action right after character creation, which is also typical for the Diablo franchise. No hourly long setting up and pointless talk to NPC. Action is well balanced with story and leaves room for the imagination to go wild. That said: graphics are excellent, sound is superb, story is amazing, character classes are true to the franchise, character creation is best so far compared to other Diablo games, build opportunities are many and problematic builds disappear patch after patch, combat is admirably well done, though replayability in endgame could be improved, controller does not support haptics and adaptive triggers, yet, so I hope these are coming. I find this game simple, yet genius and genre-defining. Typical for the company behind it - making bold and risky moves, people usually fail to initially comprehend. Not quite happy with the high prices of the shop, though that does not interest me much. Looking forward to playing more seasons and expansions! More intriguing content is needed, so hopefully the developer manages to find the right talent to continue the Diablo legacy. It will always have a special place in my heart as I am sure it also has for many others. Seeing a lot of extremely negative reviews here tells me people have a very poor understanding and sense of appreciation to what they are given and perhaps that's what they also gain in life. The campaign is great and I had a lot of fun when playing through that part of the game on my initial play through. The problem is that you don’t play Diablo IV for the campaign, you play it for the seasons and the end game. Save your money and go play Path of Exile, or even Diablo III. Hopefully this game will get good someday, because the bones of a great game are there, but Blizzard is going to have to make leaps (like they did with Diablo 3) to get it to that point, and I just am not hopeful with the direction that company has been headed lately. Experienced several crashes, freezes, and login issues. Consumables and other non-equipment items felt useless or like a forced mechanic in the game to stop players from scaling.     The game is terrible, Microtransactions. Terrible gameplay loop. You reach a point where you continuously ask yourself why you are playing the game... there is no point. Whenever you level up enemies' level with you. Because of this you feel just as strong when you were in level 1, there is no point. The game is a hot mess, and I want my money back!

    I bought the ultimate edition hoping to have fun with battlepass and etc however i've since lost all interest just from playing pre season. Tried my best to get into season 1 but i really just can't do it. Just bored of it. Definitely tons of ARPGs with better replayability out there than diablo 4.

    I have waited for this game for years and though it has had some bumps it has been a blast to play especially with friends there are many people that are using the lack of instant gratification to bash a game that's still in its cradle like most of the titles its compared to the initial game is just the beginning and i look forward to more

Plutôt en mode, essais-erreur et j'ai compris la mécanique au bout d'une centaine d'heure de jeux.     It is much better than a D3 but I am story player so ofcourse i See the problems with items, dull hours of only a few or not enaough types of enemy or planty blind spots in medium locations no good reason to play after 60 level but still it is big step from the D3 in story telling and i love diablo vibe and hyoe(not perfect but not so stupid like last one)

    That being said, there's a level of trust and faith that has been utterly destroyed by the team in charge of this game. For context I have about 250 hours into the game and have reached 100 on my sorcerer and 75 on a rogue. The switch to Sorc and have enjoyed that play style but the longer it was played, the more I noticed my friends who have been leveling up beside me have been outclassing me tenfold. That's fine and fair and I like just doing zappy things anyway but it got to the point where I couldn't clear the content that they could clear and it felt bad. I was grinding my way to 100 to be able to help out with Uber Lilith. No dice, too weak. Spent time grinding for gear in popular builds to beat her and once again... no dice, too weak. We rely too heavily on CC in order to get to a level about a 1/4 of what other classes can put out and with about half the survivability. I still had fun on the way up until about 85ish.

    Now... that was a fun story only to set up for the slap in the face that the 1.1 patch gave everyone but somehow in some magical way made the weakest class into the weakest class but somehow so much worse. We lost all of our tool in order to survive in terms of a cool down reduction nerf since we rely on 4 defensive skills for every build because you know... balance. We lost our damage from Devouring Blaze and the Aspect of Control nerf which I would be fine with... if they actually bothered to buff literally anything to take place of it. Like buff the skill damage or the passives or something please. We've been starving for crumbs and those nerfs without nothing else just made us so weak. I'm dealing about 1/6th of my damage when my friends are pretty okayish comparatively. They took a bruise to an arm, sorcs got cut off at the shins.

    The community has been having conversations about Sorcs being the weakest before the patch, how the hell did devs not know the state of it prior? Do they not listen? Between that and making monsters stronger and slowing down experience gain makes this patch very slow and very boring if someone was to start again which is literally what Seasons are made for.

    What a way to turn a 8-9 out of 10 into a big fat 0. The devs don't respect your time and they don't respect your support for the game. This will literally be the only bad review I write about something. I was really hoping to be in better spirits after sleeping it off a night but I'm somehow more angry the more I think about it. Don't buy the game until the devs figure this out and if they do and fix the problems that have been plaguing the game since the beginning and the new ones they added, be careful and bail if they do it again.    … Expand

    Great story and fun mechanics but that only lasts for about 10 hours of game play. Enjoyed running dungeons with friends. The side quests start to feel extremely tedious and the endgame content is a bit repetitive. Has such potential to be an amazing game, hopefully future content will help it meet that expectation. Fully recommend waiting for game to go on sale before buying.

    Wish I could get a refund for this game. Diablo 4 offers very little in variation and gear rewards. It gets repetitive very fast and is simply not worth the pricetag of 70 Euro. This will be the last Blizzard game I'll ever buy if there within short time isn't significant improvements in gameplay.

    Played to lvl 100. Then it fell off... nothing to do. No-one to play with. No end-game (unless you call Uber Lilith end-game). No trade. S1 is very very bad and the changes could have come MUCH MUCH sooner.. They say that they listen their audience but they are not. Maybe season 7 will be better.

Only to get slammed with a nerf hammer putting your build into a unplayable piece of craps. worked on another build and character for some time again, just to get another hit into ground.

    I don't understand we aren't getting any respect when we paid for the game and invested so much time just to get ripped into pieces because they can.

    For those that haven't played the game. Don't bother, it's just going to be disappointing. The game was not designed to be fun, and they're trying to take more fun away when you finally find something.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This isn't a review bomb. I've thought long/hard about this. It is sad because this game could have been amazing. In the beginning - the first week - it felt like it was going to be. I sang it's praises; I looked past the obvious flaws. I said "it just came out, they will fix it..."

    But Blizzard has.done nothing but make the game worse, week after week. It is clear to me now that this game was highly engineered/researched/developed to extract the most money out of me as possible.

    How you ask - there is no pay to win, you don't need to buy a battle pass/skin. True. But Blizz has, and.continues, to make the game increasingly frustrating/unrewarding/unfun - with the expectation that I will spend more $.

    It feels like a rug pull... and that is a big reason for the rating. 2 quick examples:

    Leveling takes FOREVER, and past lvl 55-60 it's the only thing to do. There used to be a 25% exp boost for doing more difficult dungeons. This hardly made a difference, but it was all that was left after countless nerfs made leveling to 100 insanely more difficult than it was at launch. They did this right before the 1st season: it discouraged you from leveling your non-seasonal character... But hey, there are leveling buffs in the season, so just start a new toon and level up in the season, right? Why would Blizzard do this... well you can't buy a season pass if you aren't playing in the season now can you? They broke the "eternal realm" to push people to the "seasonal" realm. Call this theory crazy, explain how it wouldn't work on you. But it WILL WORK ON SOME PEOPLE. And every $ counts. So they did it - a rug pull. Now it takes 25% longer (in just this one change) to level up.

    They also increased the amount of time it takes to teleport out of a dungeon after clearing it by a significant %. Why why why in the world would they do this? Because every second adds up, and the longer they can keep you from getting exp, the longer they can keep you in the game.... You're more likely to buy a season pass, but even if you don't they can quote higher player counts at their seasonal, sorry - quarterly profits calls. Seconds add up, and this was just the canary in the coal mine that was so blatant and on the nose. Believe that they are actively trying every possible trick in the book to do the exact same thing via other mechanics/changes/etc.

    I could go on and on, in sure others have. It would be one thing if the game just released with the problems it has. But it is much more than that - this is a rug pull. They are actively making the game worse to play, in an attempt to get more money from the players. Regardless of if it is working, or blowing up in their face -- that is what's going on.

    My wife and I both paid $90+ tax for early access. We were looking forward to playing this for 100's of hours, but we both quit - independently - before 3 weeks. She's at lvl 56, I made it to 82.

    It's not fun. On top of all the BS it is not fun, and our time is better spend on a number of better games.

    It's really sad what Blizzard did to this beloved IP. It will never be enough money for them...    … Expand

    This game deserves a 7/10 for me. While the story was captivating the gameplay was a bit lackluster after gaining some momentum. Once the story was complete at Level 50 I lost interest and noticed people started to fall off. Honestly nothing else for me to do unless seasons is your thing which you are forced to start a new character from level 1 every season.

    I enjoyed the game quite a bit in the beginning. I liked the campaign and story, because I enjoy things like that. I found it to be very easy, but I didn't really mind. I thought the boss mechanics were much better than Diablo 3 and the campaign in general was much better, so I took it for that.

    As I continued to play, however, and especially into season one, I feel like I _want_ to    I enjoyed the game quite a bit in the beginning. I liked the campaign and story, because I enjoy things like that. I found it to be very easy, but I didn't really mind. I thought the boss mechanics were much better than Diablo 3 and the campaign in general was much better, so I took it for that.

    As I continued to play, however, and especially into season one, I feel like I _want_ to like the game a lot more than I _do_ like the game. I don't mind that the progression system isn't as ridiculous as PoE, and I don't mind that the developers are still trying to figure some balance things out. I like some of the concepts they're trying to go for, but I think the execution is very poor and feels very rushed. I also am having a harder and harder time feeling like there aren't shareholder metrics that I'm literally paying for ruining the enjoyment of my game. Things like the drop rates of items linked to arbitrary completion tiers for the season seem like a no-brainer to me, although being in the industry, it's easy to see that on the player end while it could very well have been a poor design balance decision and just a communication miss between the people putting together the season chore list and the drop tuning.

    Either way, my score has to stay pretty low because the game as it is now, including season one, has some highlights (to me): story / campaign, cut scenes, campaign bosses, _some_ mechanics, and a lot of potential, but is otherwise essentially an paid alpha / early-access and a buggy mess. Nothing is really balanced, there is _clearly_ a missing world tier past around the 85ish range, and it seems like stuff was stretched and re-worked to try to accommodate that. My guess is that originally you were supposed to go into nightmare at 40, torment at 60, and then something else at 80 that had another system / mechanic / content, which got pushed. Likely to a paid expansion /shrug but maybe just for timing.

    I will definitely play season 2 and see how it goes, but I'm really disappointed. At this time, I wouldn't recommend anyone not already invested pay for this game. I have been playing blizzard games since Warcraft 1 and every title they made for a very long time ---- warcraft 2 / tides of darkness expansion then the battle.net edition that allowed online multiplayer. Then Starcraft 1 then Broodwar. Then Diablo 1 and Diablo 2. And Lord of destruction expansion. Warcraft 3 reign of chaos into Frozen throne expansion. Then World of Warcraft. Then starcraft 2 and all its expansions.... Slowly over time they shifted into microtransactions and shady business practices where the heart of the company died. Blizzard is not the same company it once was it is now just a shadow of a greedy stock market investor using strings to orchestrate a money printing method to prey on young adults and children and their parents. Do not support this company. Support a better game dev like Larian Studios who actually values your hard earned money and your time invested into a game. Baldurs gate 3 is 10,000 times better game than this game will ever be.… Expand

    Too bad we can't get a refund... Terrible game design... always online BUT it is better to play solo (the first 50 lvls)... nothing is balanced just a big mess... it was a fraud not a game... Good marketing and nothing else....

    + addictif, on a envie d'y retourner ! + Lilith est quand même styler... + cinématique très sympa ~ certaines quêtes secondaires sont quand même classique mais il y a un effort quand même. ~ caméra brouillon quand il y a beaucoup de monstres sinon    + création de personnage

    70 EUR for this unfinished peace of a game. Its that kind ob bad and feels like a beta. Patches are ridicolous and slow. Never again in my life i buy a blizzard game on release.

    I'm a long-time fan of the series, played every Diablo so far. When you choose to create a game that doesn't work offline, is expected that that game will work online. This simply isn't the case in Diablo IV. If you want to own a big regret, you should buy this piece of crap.

    I didn't enjoy the game at all, here's why.
    - The gameplay is slow and it's not fun at all. I played as Druid and somewhere mid-game I regret the decision because killing mobs was so slow! I don't want to spend the whole evening in one dungeon trying to get through simple mobs after work, I want to feel like the main character, play an hour or so, and have FUN out of it, not    I didn't enjoy the game at all, here's why.

    - As for an action game, the gameplay has a minimal fun factor to it, spamming two buttons over and over, and because of the terrible energy system, most of the time I was using the first spell just to get energy back.
    - Scaling could be okay if you would have any sense of progression, but because the good gear is almost impossible to drop, it's just not fun to engage in anything. - just rush the story.
    - Also scaling with the current system ruins the sense of progression completely.
    - The story itself is not bad, and side missions are okay-ish, but the rest with the slow gameplay was a "skip" to me.
    - The world is okay, I preferred the world design from Diablo 3 more, but it's just my preference.
    - The game is laggy! And buggy...
    - Horse riding is not very good
    - COOLDOWNS ON EVERYTHING! Why am I walking SO SLOW!?
    - Paid Battle Pass and Store in a 100 euro game is a joke, haven't I paid for the product already?

    I feel like the game was designed to be hated. No fun, no progression, just greed, and annoyance. Super disappointing.    … Expand

    I played D3 for years and now - after a short breake of D4 - again, cause there is no competition. And I dont blame them for season - i know its starts new and i liked it.
    But ... THE BIG MISTAKE: You cant begin from start like in D3 and bring thinks the next few years. I want them from beginning in D4 and then something new. So there is no    No Endgame like in D3 - So no Meta race:

    It’s really bad, the developers never listen to the gamer community and their opinion, they created a game that wasn’t ready to release with laggy servers and no offline mode. The game does not have a complete story, just so they can create more expansions and overpriced dlcs. I’m a huge fun of diablo games but this one does not pass the vibe check. Avoid it at all costs!

Obviously, D4 team is too arrogant and treat players are idiots since they already got the money. The season 1 experience is completely destroyed for Rogue player after they ninja fix the poison.     There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV — best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.

    The visuals are probably what excited me the most. The way the game looks and the atmosphere makes me feel like I'm playing the old Diablo again. On steroids and on a quadruple screen TV, but the feeling is still there. [Issue#328]
