Speaking of a video game of such importance, it is difficult to separate the nostalgia effect from the actual quality. While Shenmue III proposes itself exactly as it wanted to be, on the other hand it stumbles into flaws that go far beyond anachronism. The desire to appear in everything as the ideal sequel to a series frozen for eighteen years proves to be a double-edged sword. As much as Shenmue III manages to find internal coherence in its compact rhythm, one cannot overlook the obvious conceptual limits that undermine its overall quality. Yu Suzuki's title does not go beyond the "miracle" of his own existence, and as satisfied as it may be, even for the most dedicated fans it will be impossible not to admit an unpleasant aftertaste of lost opportunity.

Minecraft Legends' adventure, in single player, can be completed in a handful of hours, going straight to the goal with the right strategies, but it can also keep you company for much more if you want to explore all of the overworld. The PvP mode, very central on paper, doesn't really shine if you don't use some communication system external to the game – a non-secondary problem, given that strategy is really crucial and good coordination helps not only to keep the games fun, but also to ensure that they do not last longer than necessary.

Yu-Gi-Oh! RUSH DUEL: Dawn of Battle Royale !! is a game prisoner of its nature, if you love dueling and you are not afraid to grind matches after matches then it's the game for you, bearing in mind, however, that variety is not at home in the Konami game and that the single player mode offers a very limited challenge and a plot suited to a very young audience. The Rush Duel make their promising debut here, representing an alternative to the main mechanics of Duel Monster, which have become undeniably complicated for a novice to approach. We hope this title can represent a fresh start for Konami, a return to more ambitious video games for the franchise in the future. The potential is there, we hope there's also the desire to make the most of it.

Like the original title, this graphic remake of Destroy All Humans! presents itself as a fun title for some gameplay ideas and for its style, without however being able to leave a mark. Unlike 2005, however, the renewed graphic version is not enough to balance a well aged, but still aged, gameplay. Who has never had the opportunity to help the Furon to conquer the earth, could find in Destroy all humans! a pleasant interlude from other more demanding or massive productions. Marathon gets better the more you play, but in today’s gaming landscape, it’s fair to ask how many players are willing to invest many hours before the real fun begins. The foundations are solid: the artistic vision is striking, and the gunplay is satisfying. Yet, many of Bungie’s new shooter’s mechanics seem almost designed to push players away rather than draw them in. A confusing interface, overly convoluted weapon and item design, a low TTK paired with punishing PvE, and progression systems that only balance out after unlocking most skill trees create significant early hurdles. And even when everything finally starts falling into place, some design choices remain puzzling, including the mandatory quarterly wipe, which currently raises more questions than answers. When it all comes together, Marathon is undeniably fun, but at this stage, the game still needs quite a few key tweaks to fully realize its potential.

Pokémon Champions is a Pokémon battle simulator; it does just that, and that's fine. It was developed with that specific purpose, and it wouldn't be fair to dismiss it as a flaw. As it stands, the game is a bit lacking in content, completely missing the possibility to battle against the CPU, and more could have been done to teach newcomers the basics of high-level competitive play. On the plus side, the experience is completely free to play, with a non-predatory, and indeed very fair, monetization system. Pokémon Champions is therefore a good foundation to build on, a live service built to last. If the game wants to be the home of competitive Pokémon in the long term, however, it must prove it with continuous improvements over time.
