Trover Saves the Universe is perhaps the most fun, foul-mouthed and irreverent game you can enjoy in VR, but the gameplay is not always as good as writing.

For a not exactly popular price, Persona Dancing: Endless Night Collection offers a significant level of entertainment for lovers of the genre and the ATLUS saga. Although the gameplay is a bit simplistic, the choreographic aspect always remain at a high level. Vivisecting the package you can see some naivety too, but overall - and focused on target audience - is a well-packaged collection.

The Escapists 2 is a management-strategic game that improves some aspects of the predecessor and adds a successful multiplayer component.

Forza Horizon 2: Storm Island is a pretty solid, rally themed DLC. The new location works well with the improved bad weather conditions and adds a lot to stuff to do, although not all the new events are actually "new".

An action-RPG without unnecessary frills, perhaps a bit anonymous and derivative, but with ideas capable of creating sparkling and noteworthy gameplay.

From Decemberborn Interactive comes a new "retro" metroidvania that shines thanks to a great level design full of secrets, but that does not take any risks in terms of innovation.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong is a brilliant adaptation of the themes, the atmosphere and the mood of the homonymous pen and paper RPG. The alchemical mix between cinematic adventure and light RPG works great and Big Bad Wolf Studio gives a fresh take on the concept of “playing a role” in a video game. It’s a pity that technically wise the game sometimes doesn’t stand up to its own ambitions.

A stealth game in the true sense of the word you should keep an eye on, even if the enemies AI is still not that great.

Madden NFL's debut on the new consoles brings lots of social features and new details which are not always so significant, though. In particular, the visuals don't seem to take full advantage of Xbox One and PS4 hardware. An incomplete pass into “next gen”, for now.

Victor Vran is by no means perfect, but it's fun, ensures hours of play and it's ideal for those who want to delve into the hack 'n' slash genre for the first time.

Dino Frontier sinks in longevity and in strategic/management depth, but if you're looking for a truly immersive and approachable VR game you've found it.

Madden NFL 23 is not the definitive football experience, but it is a substantial step up from the last edition thanks to the new gameplay features implemented by FieldSENSE. The general improvements are noticeable but not so revolutionary, while the graphical imperfections and the problems with the artificial intelligence continue to represent the Achilles heel of the franchise.

A fun and lighthearted spin-off, recommended for all Dragon Quest fans.

As always, Ride is a good starting point for Milestone, an encouraging debut for a new IP, with a solid foundation from which (re)starting, but also other aspects to be improved in the future. Definitely worth buying if you're a motorbike enthusiast.

A good management game, empowered by a very unique comedic sci-fi setting. Campaign isn't the greatest and a little bit more content would have been great, but all in all a nice return for the classic 2001 Startopia.

A good game, but already seen on 3DS five years ago, plus an even better one, but too short.

Daedalic's take on tactical combat is unique and refreshing, making for a robust gameplay that is also enriched by an interesting setting inspired by Finnish folklore.

The Medium is an artistically inspired and technically interesting horror game, almost entirely based on narrative. With a slow pace and a few really interesting puzzles, the game focuses on the evil atmosphere of the double world. Those who expected a broader adventure may be disappointed.

The legendary RTS milestone comes back with a new look and an updated gameplay, but with some old mechanics and too much crashes, freezes and unstable frame rate, it can't be still a masterpiece.

Anthem is an imperfect and evolving game, but if you are looking for a rewarding experience in terms of gunplay, fighting and settings, you will hardly be disappointed.

In Just Cause 4 you will have fun making things explode and exploring the map in the most different ways, but don’t expect a great depth of play.

Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is a farming simulator that doesn't dare much but that offers all the elements of the genre with the right expertise. Don't expect particularly deep gameplay though.

A decent reproposition of what still is a milestone in its genre. It's got a couple of new ideas that will not blow your mind but do make it fresher. The touch interface is well implemented but not perfect.

Cris Tales is carried along by a good story and an extraordinary art direction that tell of heroic acts, self-acceptance, courage, revolutions and hopes in a "fairytale about time". His non-linear tale is based on a classic JRPG gameplay but it's able to present itself with its own clear and distinct personality, unique mechanics and good ideas, trying to give depth to the combat system. Unfortunately these possibilities do not match well with the lack of strategic situations and the very high frequency of random encounters does not help to make the most banal encounters less unpleasant. Cris Tales remains a well done game, but could have offered much more.

On PS4 Pro RedOut is a great, rich and frantic racing game. On the other hand, on a standard PS4 or on Xbox One there are some annoying frame rate issues.

Shadow Gambit: The Cursed CrewIn are two valuable additions to a game that was already very nice and compelling in its own right. New content that may not radically re-announce the gameplay, but still has all the necessary ingredients to please Shadow Gambit fans, who will enjoy returning to the Caribbean in search of new adventures.

Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythmic Adventure Pack is an interesting package especially if you love music games. Clearly the chapter already published on Nintendo Switch and the ideal choice in case you want to start with this saga. However, the two titles collected in the collection are perfectly in line with the hilarious atmosphere well known to those who love the saga. Although the two campaign modes are not exactly the best of freshness and rhythm, their inclusion is one more reason to linger among the joyful notes of this irresistible rhythm game. A certain homologation of the two interfaces makes the two games all too similar, and overall a bit anonymous. Luckily, with perfect controls in each mode and a proven gameplay, the game remains an excellent choice for lovers of the genre.

A JRPG that's not so inspired and too repetitive, but brings with it plenty of things to do and is perfect for Fairy Tail fans.

Same classic Inazuma Eleven gameplay mixed with lots of narrative twists.

A very short full game, yet a super-satisfying prologue: don't look for the full body of The Phantom Pain in Ground Zeroes, you will find only its promising ghost structure.

It is always said that games must be judged for what they are and not for what we would like them to be: Star Renegade is a strange mix of strategy and jrpg, all under the umbrella of the roguelite-genre that ends up delimiting, and partly limiting, all the best aspects of the game. I could not stop thinking, at each run, that a normal campaign, even a short one, would have benefited the pace of the game and could make all the mechanics make it shine at their best.

World of Final Fantasy Maxima features more options, minigames, bosses and soundtracks than the previous version. Even if the new features aren't such a great thing, the game is still largely enjoyable.

White Night has a very effective atmosphere, a unique visual style and some good horror moments, although it suffers from an awful saving system and too simple puzzles.

The Western Front Armies is a solid expansion dedicated to the fans of the multiplayer mode from Company of Heroes 2.

Pharaoh is a solid new entry in the Total War series, although it lacks some ambition. If all you wanted was some fun playing as a general in a Bronze Age setting, you'd probably be satisfied here, but if you were waiting for the next big thing, you'd have to wait a bit more.

We Happy Few must clash with a gameplay that doesn’t fascinate too much, but its plot, settings and longevity are more convincing.

Foregone, although initially weakened by a certain lack of personality, finally manages to impose its own rhythm, distinguishing itself as a fun and carefully developed action. The empowerment of the protagonist and her equipment keep the attention, while the difficulty, high but never prohibitive, puts the player on the one who lives, without ever throwing him into frustration. The derivative design soon gives way to an excellent technical department, capable of providing scenarios between the pleasant and the wonderful. Foregone, on the whole, is a pleasant and fascinating experience, which never manages to explode completely, but holds for its entire duration.

A frantic, enjoyable and easy to approach strictly for multiplayer game.

Armikrog is original, extremely funny and very unique, but it could be more refined and it's a bit limited in its puzzle structure. It's also not that long, especially if you consider the steep price (which is probably caused by the claymation technique, but still… ).

Goat Simulator is a little, stupidly fun indie game that you will love, even if it's well far from technical perfection.

Yoshi's Woolly World is still a funny and colorful platform game, but the screen size and resolution don't allow the original art direction to shine as it should.

Fast paced, addictive and funny as always, but it doesn’t seem the best episode in the Dead or Alive series, so far.

Quantum Break has some breathtaking moments and shoot-outs, but its mechanics are a bit shallow and the story is not that strong.

Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires is a well balanced mix of turn-based strategy and hack 'n' slash gameplay in real time. The scenery graphics are still not on par with the attention to detail of the main characters, though.

Hatoful Boyfriend has lots of funny moments and absurd characters, but it’s also charming in its own, plumy way.

West of Dead it's quite a classic twin stick shooter roguelike with a twist: it chooses tactic and thoughtfully action instead of frenzy. The gameplay is quite derivative and basic, though everything works and it's overall a fun game.

After a year in early access, Arcadegeddon has evolved and expanded to become a good multiplayer shooter but failing to make a qualitative leap.

A well structured game of tactics in a messy dress, Kaiju Wars is filled with content and will keep fans of the genre engaged for a lot of hours.

From a spin-off such as Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, we can’t expect any innovation, and in fact, while enjoyable and always entertaining thanks to its varied combat-system, the game does not add much to the Yakuza series.

Unoriginal and technically lacking, Final Fantasy Explorers tries to make up for it with a large amount of content and fun multiplayer modes.

As a prequel designed to expand the narrative universe of Road 96 by offering a much more classic gameplay, Road 96: Mile 0 is an appreciable first-person adventure that abandons the roguelite elements to accommodate game dynamics typical of Rhythm games. However, this time the developers of DigixArt Entertainment have yet to tell an intriguing and profound story, despite a multiple-choice dialogue system and alternative endings, which unfortunately do not solve the problem of poor longevity.

It does not reach the level and the beauty of its great predecessors, but Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure is still a good and nostalgic adventure game. Let's hope this Big Finish Games effort is not an isolated case, but the beginning of something more lasting.

If it wasn't buried under countless menus and all the red tape resulting from the freemium model, Trials Frontier would be a game to recommend to friends. The gameplay of Trials Frontier is smothered by its fun-breaking structure.

Metal: Hellsinger is a raw and old-style FPS with a frantic rhythm mechanics that make the rhythmic-musical element a valid support for an otherwise derivative gameplay.

Despite what you could think at first glance, this is mostly an unforgiving action game, with some interesting ideas that require skill and improvisational abilities from the player. It doesn't always work perfectly, though, and it's a bit on the short side.

Strike Suit Zero has got some issues that keep it from being a must-buy, even for genre aficionados. It still is a pretty good game, with several highs and a good degree of challenge. There's also some replayability, even though it's tampered by the repetitive mission design.

This is The Police 2 is Fargo mixed with X-Com. Managing all your cops is fun, but sometimes it's a bit too harsh without any reason. Like life.

Despite its attempts at innovation, Assassin's Creed Shadows ultimately feels quite familiar in too many ways. The story, while somewhat fragmented, remains enjoyable for most of its duration, thanks to the well-developed protagonists and a good supporting cast. The gameplay introduces some interesting ideas, but the repetitive nature of certain tasks and the outdated AI prevent the new mechanics from reaching their full potential. Nonetheless, players who are drawn to the Japanese setting and fans of the typical Ubisoft's open-world adventures will probably enjoy the game without too many compromises.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III turned out to be what many feared: a sort of DLC of the previous chapter developed by Infinity Ward. Although undoubtedly fun for fans of arcade and fast-paced multiplayer shooters, Sledgehammer Games has done nothing but focus only on the nostalgia effect and few notable innovations, also creating an uninteresting and barely sufficient campaign.

A simple platform game, clearly thought for mobile gaming and not completely suited for a home console. Nevertheless, it is entertaining and the remixed levels are pretty challenging.

A dark fairy tale featuring one of the most atmospheric soundscapes I've encountered in recent years. Yet, repetitive combat and exploration mechanics, steeped in outdated design, prevent South of Midnight from being remembered as a classic.

Something was lost in the transition from the 3DS to the couch: despite a very (and a little too much) faithful conversion, Resident Evil Revelations shows drawbacks and missteps that were absent in the stellar, original release.

Add-ons like this were bound to come. Get to work does not disappoint, but doesn't amaze either.

F1 25 is everything a Formula 1 fan could want. For the 2025 season, Codemasters' attention has focused on the return of Braking Point 3. The graphics and sound compartment remained at an excellent level, with appreciable renovation work on some circuits and a "reverse" experiment that proved successful. The sim-cade driving model has veered toward that of the well-received F1 23 to meet community demands, but the physics engine and game structure remain virtually unchanged with all the pros and cons. F1 25 remains a thoroughly enjoyable experience for fans of Leclerc, Norris, Piastri, Russell and co. New ideas are beginning to be lacking, however, while several modes and aspects of the game are beginning to show signs of aging.

Hello Games' procedural dream is becoming a reality, but we'll probably need to wait months/years to see the process completed.

Tachyon Project is a simple and immediate dual stick shooter based on interesting mechanics. Longevity is not its strong point, though.

Firewatch is a little, fascinating adventure, that fail to fully satisfy its potential.

Colorful, cheerful and fun, Flinthook is not only a joy to look at, but above all also a blast to play. Too bad for its uncompromising difficulty and its poor balancing, that prevent this roguelike-platformer from becoming the next cult classic on the indie scene.

John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando doesn’t reinvent much within the cooperative shooter genre, but it’s fun to play and the addition of vehicles proves to be a winning feature.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink is a much less ambitious game than it seems, but its simplicity shouldn't necessarily be considered as a flaw. Cygames' latest work is fun and well polished, and it has an exciting combat system, great art and music. Unfortunately, the story falls short, and after reaching the endgame it devolves in a repetitive cycle of 80 or so hours of mindless fighting, without any real challenge or new ideas to keep things fresh.

Ghost of Tsushima is a love letter to the chambara movies and delivers great atmosphere and stylish visuals, but Sucker Punch’s open world fails to bring a compelling and cohesive experience gameplaywise. With its highs (duels, mythic quests) and lows (open world structure, quests), Ghost of Tsushima is an average game, and sadly feels like a lost opportunity to bring to the players the definitive samurai experience.

A good game with a nice bunch of character and a remarkable level design, with really nothing new to show.

Consider Super Mario RPG as a textbook: if you want to know how Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi were born, you're in the right place. If you're looking for a great Mario RPG, you'll find an outdated game.

Milestone's Gravel rocks. A solid arcade driving game which features mainly off-road races with a convincing sense of speed and a good variety of competitions, vehicles and tracks. Too bad for the thin longevity of its campaign and the complete lack of alternative single-player modes, which greatly reduce Gravel's specific weight.

XDefiant is an online shooter with balance problems but still fun, solid in some aspects, and (far too) generic in others.

A competent variant on the classic "hidden objects" theme, with excellent artwork and interesting plot.

Not the best in the series but still fun and engaging, that comes with a few new gameplay modes, two civilizations and restored graphics.

In Skyhill, you'll feel like The Last Man on Earth, in the role of Vincent Price. You'll have to fight for your life, in this simple and clever roguelike. A fine example of this genre, but the not the best out there.

Being the heir to the original Outcast is having a very big pair of shoes to fill. A New Beginning falls short, but is in no way a bad game. It could have been so much more, however.

An ambitious, imperfect game, offering one of the richest free-to-play worlds for players who enjoy depth and experimentation.

Neverness to Everness is an ambitious open-world gacha game overflowing with content, whose greatest strength lies in the city of Hethereau and the wide variety of activities it offers, ranging from exploration and management to combat. The gacha system is surprisingly generous compared to the standards of the genre and helps make the experience accessible even to free-to-play users, while the sandbox structure can keep players engaged for dozens of hours. On the other hand, some fairly evident limitations emerge: the combat system is functional but lacks depth and fails to compete with the best titles in the genre; the narrative struggles to find an engaging pace in this 1.0 version; and the cast of characters does not leave a particularly strong impression, either in terms of writing or character design.
