Even with its issues, this Taiko no Tatsujin game that brings together two improved Nintendo 3DS adventures for Nintendo Switch is the perfect title for those fans of the franchise who want to enjoy it more after having played Drum 'n Fun.

It’s not often you see the inclusion of a story mixed up with a rhythm title, but Taiko pulls it off in a way that makes it wonderful for players of any skill to enjoy drumming while taking down and befriending monsters. It’s wonderful to see this beloved series continue to be released in the west and Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythmic Adventure is worth picking up for anyone looking for more of their favorite drumming action or wanting to get into it for the very first time.

Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythmic Adventure Pack delivers an all-ages RPG adventure that I couldn't help but fall in love with. There are some clunky gameplay issues like awkward difficulty balancing and repetitive battle music, but at the end of the day, this is still one of the cutest and most creative music games I've ever played.

Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythmic Adventure Pack is an awesome rhythm game with a very amazing list of songs straight from Japan! Playing as Don and Katsu in story modes adds a creative twist to the Taiko no Tatsujin series and is a great way to introduce the series to a western audience. However, without the drum, the price of the drum, and a lack of multiplayer, it may turn some new people interested in playing the series away. If you’re a long time fan of the series and want to invest in a drum or already have a drum, then you will surely love it! But, if you want to have a real Taiko no Tatsujin experience I would recommend testing out the arcade version if you get the rare chance to experience it in the west.

Taiko no Tetsujin Rhymic Adventure Pack, while not outstanding, is a solid entry to the series. Fans of the franchise will enjoy the free play mode as usual. The newcomers can go for the RPG Adventure mode if hardcore drumming to get the perfect S rank for every song is just too daunting for them.

Basically, with Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythmic Adventure Pack, you are getting the game for its two RPGs. Rhythmic Adventure 1 is okay enough, I suppose. You can see it set a precedent and, insensitive depiction aside, has its moments. Rhythmic Adventure 2 is genuinely enjoyable, cool, and moves at a great pace. And of course, the standard Taiko mode is fine and has a wide selection of 130 songs. It is just definitely a collection where one part outshines the other.

Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythmic Adventure Pack is a novelty game, and like most novelties, it's shallow with short-lived appeal. It doesn't offer enough variety in songs to make an easy recommendation, and it certainly falls short with its adventure modes. There are better rhythm games on Nintendo Switch for the same price or less.

You, as Taiko travel through time collecting party members while battling enemies using the drum to defeat them. It can get repetitive at some points but you can always leave battles. The two games it comes with are jam packed with interesting characters and funny line. I would recommend this game to any Taiko no Tatsujin fan or any fan of rhythm games. This game isn't for everyone but it was a blast to play though Expand

This is a good rhythm game. The plot is nearly non-existent but it will be a good play if you like rhythm games.

No drum support, no rumble support and very small selection of songs which aren't as good as the ones on the original drum n fun.

The few songs that are good are repeats that are already available on drum and fun meaning that you are buying them twice if you own the original game.

Rpg elements are a waste of time.

I loved drum and fun and was really looking forward to more content but this game has nothing new to offer that hasn't been done much better beforehand.

But the whole reason I bought this game was to play it with my drum controller that was designed specifically to be used in Taiko games and... it is only supported in Taiko (Free Play) Mode?

That's right. The Story Mode, which I am assuming most people will spend 99% of their time in because this is sold as an RPG first, does not support the drum controller. I feel like I've been scammed. If I knew that the game did not support my controller before I bought it I definitely would not have dropped $50 on it. Ridiculous.

The controller has all the buttons you need on it already, too. They just didn't map them out of pure laziness. I cannot even fathom the thought process behind this.
