  • Summary: In Tachyon Project you take control of Ada, a software program that has taken conscience and that was designed to hack into the most secure servers on Earth. After some rather mysterious events, Ada is thrown out of the test server where it was living and out into the Internet, but when she tries to go back there she finds she's unable to. She'll then start a journey to uncover the truth behind what happened to her creators, which she considers her parents. In the process she'll find out that things were a bit more complex than she initially thought. Tachyon Project is a dual stick shooter where we've taken concepts from the classic shoot'em up genre and tried to adapt them to the dual stick shooter genre. In Tachyon Project the player will find the gameplay versatility and speed traditional to dual stick shooters but with the variability in weapons and enemies that you usually find in shoot'em ups.     Yes, it is short. But Geometry Wars 3 aside I haven’t had that much fun with a twinstick shooter in a while. Be wary of the spiking difficulty in the middle parts though where it moves from challenging to frustrating for a little while.

    Tachyon Project does not reinvent the wheel for twin stick shooters, but it does add some creative new tread that allows it to feel familiar yet fresh at the same time. There are plenty of modes, challenges and customisations to try out, so fans of the genre should have plenty to keep them busy throughout their time with it.

    Tachyon Project seems to take a lot of inspiration from Geometry Wars but puts its own spin on things. Taking cues from one of the best twin stick shooters ever made, isn’t a bad thing in the slightest.

    If you like games a la Geometry Wars, Tachyon Project is a very interesting choice. Solid and fun, twin-stick shooters fans should definitely give it a try.

    In the end, Tachyon Project is a half-decent game that will appeal most to a select group of gamers. Despite boasting a unique take on incurred damage, the title’s slower pace and occasionally dull engagements hold it back from being as good as it could’ve been.

    I have played a number of twin stick shooters and this one comes out on top. The controls are very tight and responsive. There is a huge variety of different enemies, which cause the player to switch tactics. Similarly, there are hundreds of different ways to customize your ship/program to your liking, as there are tons of different main weapons, secondary weapons and perks. The storyline is decent.
