Heavy Rain is an absolute classic of its unique genre of videogames. The story of the origami killer can still charm with its blend of mystery and noir ingredients and the remastered graphics are a plus to enjoy it. Unfortunately, the gameplay mechanics feel a little old, but this alone doesn't really kill the experience as a whole.

WRC 4 is a bit more "pretty" and appealing than WRC 3. The new handling system is great, has been further refined, made even more exciting (finally, different surfaces returns different grip), with lots of fine tuning control on the steering wheel. That said, the new rally Milestone is not yet a true prodigy of beauty.

The Evil Within 2 is definitely one step ahead of its predecessor: a rich, deep and long-lived horror survival. The level of difficulty has been considerably softened. If this makes the title more accessible, on the other hand, it denies that authoritative uniqueness of the title that inspired it.

Does it make sense to spend 20 € to play Resident Evil 4 in 2014? Who already knows everything about this 2005 classic made in Capcom maybe is gonna wait for a better offer on Steam. Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin is a delightful game, a small production that exudes care from all pores and manages to instill a relaxing sense of calm in the player. The narration, which draws on classic Japanese folklore, has those simple but winning characteristics typical of the training story. A pure, cheerful and touching fairy tale, capable of holding on to the screen until the (splendid!) conclusion. Unfortunately, some naivety in mission management makes the second half of the game a bit redundant. It would have been perfect to "dry" the continuous backtracking, enriching the central part with some unprecedented fighting. However, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin can be loved, with well implemented game elements and wonderful art direction.

Pokémon Sun and Moon clearly want to change some aspects of a long-standing series. The new features actually bring some of the mechanics up-to-date and, at last, there's a good level of challenge. A deeper plot makes the whole adventure even more enjoyable, too. Pragmata is an old-school, linear yet intriguing sci-fi adventure that shines through its dual combat system and, above all, the relationship between Hugh and Diana, which forms the emotional core of the experience. Its combat stands out as one of the game's strongest elements, thanks to the seamless integration of shooting and real-time hacking, keeping tension high and encounters both dynamic and strategic throughout. The artistic direction and presentation are equally convincing, particularly in the first half, but it is the gradual development of Hugh and Diana's bond that truly drives the narrative and gives it emotional weight, even as the story begins to lose coherence later on. Despite some limitations that become more noticeable over time, especially in level design, narrative progression, and a slightly underwhelming overall length, the game remains a solid and enjoyable experience: easy to recommend to fans of linear, character-driven adventures.

High on Life is a game that keeps its promises. Underneath a skin made up of over the top humor there is a biting irony towards a genre (old school FPS’s) which has far too many tropes to make fun of (and here not even one is left behind). The sometimes chaotic level design, combined with not exactly exciting boss fights, risks overshadowing the merits of the Squanch Games game, but a good sum of game mechanics manages to keep everything afloat, waiting for the next joke and the resulting laugh.

The Wonderful 101: Remastered is an exciting concentration of fun. The wonderful design, the roaring, noisy sound; everything shines and enchants, just like seven years ago. And yet, despite its solid playability and full of concepts, the camera often struggles to follow the action at its best, becoming a real nightmare in the tightest of spaces (always very short, luckily). Mediterranea Inferno is a well-written visual novel that deals with adult themes in an honest, courageous, sometimes painful way, showing the experience of the pandemic from different points of view and able to reflect critically on contemporaneity. What is striking is Redaelli's ability to mix different expressive codes, combining Japanese aesthetics with Italian figurative art in order to evoke images capable of giving concreteness to symbols and allegories. At times it seems that the subtext has overtaken the text, making certain passages of the narrative somewhat instrumental to the reflection that follows, rather than the other way around, but all in all this is fine, because the storytelling works and leads to unexpected twists.
