Mikey Hooks is a really good game, based on a solid gameplay and a really precise control system. It could instead have been a great game, but it's too short and easy, and even if the Race Mode adds some fun, it's simply not enough to make the final step to greatness.

Nioh 3 is a smart evolution of a winning formula. Team Ninja successfully transitions to an Open Field structure without losing the tightness of its level design, while the new Samurai/Ninja duality adds a fresh tactical layer to an already stellar combat system. The game feels fairer and more accessible than its predecessors, removing artificial frustration in favor of readable challenges. While the narrative plays it safe and side content remains repetitive, the core loop is stronger than ever. A must-play for fans of the genre.

This short DLC can be seen as a sum of everything that makes Gears… Gears. The short duration allowed the screenwriters to give shape to a tighter and more cinematic story, all embellished with quite varied scenarios and a graphic impact among the best in circulation. Dynasty Warriors: Origins is the revolution long-time fans have been waiting for, but it doesn’t come without compromises. The new entry in the musou series serves as a perfect starting point for newcomers, while still offering enjoyment to veterans and genre enthusiasts thanks to an updated combat system, a level of graphical fidelty finally in line with modern standards, and a solid amount of content. The story is told with a maturity unseen in the series, and despite the protagonist’s lack of charisma, it remains engaging for most of its duration. The absence of co-op mode and the removal of the large playable cast are tough pills to swallow, but Omega Force and Koei Tecmo have clearly made an effort to innovate. While it doesn’t quite shake off some fundamental issues of the genre, Dynasty Warriors: Origins marks a significant step forward for the series and provides a great foundation for its future.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is undoubtedly a tangible step forward from the classic musou. Not only in terms of quality, but also for the commitment of the developers in the creation of a powerful story and the inclusion of solid and funny mechanics. The management of the elements and powers linked to the Sheikah technology are a breath of fresh air and a considerable whiplash to a gameplay notoriously linked to rhythms mostly noisy and carefree. While not renouncing its disruptive roots, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is inscribed in a very refined construct, endowed with a dragging narrative and endowed with an overwhelming number of secondary activities. To pay the price is the fluidity of the action, mixed with a very low resolution and full of pop-ups in portability and drops in frame-rate rather annoying in dock mode. Even if on the first Ninja Gaiden weighs the weight of age, remains perhaps the best chapter of the whole package, and even today, one of the best action ever. Bloody and spectacular, the second chapter does not match the excellent design of the predecessor, preferring a more classic pace. The kitsch atmosphere and the unsuccessful design of some bosses deny the title its excellence, proving, however, a worthy heir to the first episode.
