Minecraft: Wii U Edition is, well, Minecraft. But. It doesn't support old Wii controllers and the Game Pad -integration could be better, like own screen for a second player and a touchscreen inventory. [Feb 2016]

It’s not for everyone, but if it’s for you, it’s a gaming experience you won’t likely forget.

All in all, Mojang has done a wonderful job of porting the full Minecraft experience over to the Wii U.

Minecraft Wii U Edition is just another version of Mojang's great sandbox. Unfortunately, there is an evident lack of Wii U GamePad integration that makes its use very prosaic. If you've already played another version of Minecraft, you probably won't be thrilled.

Minecraft arrives on Wii U with all its core experience, still as fun and addictive as always. Still, it doesn't really use any of the hardware's exclusive features, missing even the obvious opportunity to add some amiibo compatibility.

Despite my adoration of the game, I ended up being frustrated at just about every aspect of the Wii U Edition. This is the epitome of a wasted-opportunity, bare-bones port. It's great that the game is coming to yet another audience, but this is hardly worth the investment for someone who already has the opportunity to play Minecraft elsewhere.

Bigger worlds, more skins and more block selection! The controls are great! The graphics are great at 1080p (Full HD) (Can support 720p (HD) and 480p (Standard) as well). Could let it so that 4 people can look at the TV and 1 person can look at the GamePad. Also, I wish it could support Classic Controller Pro, that would be great, so I can have 3 people play at the same time. Nunchuck, no thanks, I wouldn't want motion controls for this game. Make it come out on disc! It is currently only available on eShop! Could it come out on 3DS and Wii as well? Please do!!! Still great though. I think it matches with PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One! This is a great game, in Australia; it costs $40. Much cheaper than the others! I give it 10/10 Expand

The game itself is the same as Minecraft, with a few things left out from the PC edition, such as red deserts, ocean monuments, etc. It even plays very similar to the Playstation/Xbox versions, with a similar crafting system. If you already own Minecraft for the PC, there really is no reason to buy this, unless you don't have a computer, Playstation or Xbox. Even if Minecraft is good as it is, this version of it really doesn't need to exist.

    Minecraft: Wii U Edition gets a 7/10.

Why no motion control support (wiimote + nunchuck) and inventory on the gamepad? ARGH!

I used to play it on my PC for some years, until one day I got bored of it, and left it. When the game was ported to the Wii U, I decided to give it another chance. By this rating of 6/10, I think it's obvious that I didn't like it much. Minecraft: Wii U edition keeps the essence that made Minecraft great, but in a quite weaker form. Even though it can get interesting and intense at times, the control scheme is very weird and difficult, making fighting a tricky experience. The world is also just too small (862x862). It may be understandable with the Wii U's power, but the same console was able to run Xenoblade Chronicles X, a game that has one of the biggest overworlds in videogame history, which substracts points from Minecraft. And it's just dumb to require an HD resolution to play in Co-op. However, the game is fun like 75% of the time, and it keeps the core essence of Minecraft, which makes me unable to give it a lower score that it does not deserve. Expand

I claims that you can connect other controllers to the game by clicking start, but there is no response to that from the game, when it says that is how to put it in. I want a refund, and I want the local multiplayer to work. To connect those controllers, they need to be Wii U pro controllers, or else they don't work. A classic controller should be able to be used, but it isn't. Expand
