Reshaping a pristine landscape into new world using your own two hands while things try to kill you isn’t just an amazingly rewarding gaming experience, it’s a clever retelling of human history.

A beautiful edition of a game that's still great. Hi-res, very good multiplayer support, Minecraft for Xbox One is unmissable.

Larger map size is the key feature of this greatly appreciated next-gen update of Minecraft.

Much like going from a rustic shelter to a statuesque castle, Minecraft: Xbox One Edition will only offer more in time, with future updates adding even more hours to a game already brimming with near-endless potential.

It seems pointless praising a game everyone knows is great, but this version provides a much more stable gaming experience.

This creative toolbox didn’t lose any of its magic. Minecraft doesn’t need level-ups, xp, buffs or special abilities to motivate – it captivates with its sheer openness and endless creativity.

This new version of Minecraft features a deeper field of view, a really smooth frame rate and a 1080p definition. The game is the same since 2011, and it's fabulous, but it's not for everyone.

The ability to play split side by side is awesome, no fighting for whos turn it is. I also purchase a couple packs, a skin pack for my son who wanted to be a squid and the candy texture pack for my daughter who loves pink. This is how games should be, low cost, download, buy extras for $1 or $2. Rather than $90 and $30 DLC items. Im sure if this game was $80 I still would have purchased it, but its worthy of a 10 score for value, playability, replayability and minecraft awesomeness. Expand

Alot of fun. It's nice to be able to do your own thing at your own pace and not to be rushed. Great for family and friends of all ages.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I rate Minecraft Xbox One Edition 5 stars because it has many positive features.
One of the reasons I like this game is that it runs very well on any Xbox One because it was designed specifically for the Xbox One, as opposed to the newer Minecraft, known as Minecraft Bedrock, which was made for many devices and runs horribly on older Xbox ones. Another advantage of Minecraft Xbox One Edition is that, unlike the newer Minecraft, you can play split screen with up to four players. The game also has few bugs and runs smoothly without delays or strange things, giving you an excellent gaming experience. The game also has three unique game modes no longer available in Minecraft Bedrock. The graphics are also set to high, but there are no settings to change it to lower graphics because it is guaranteed that you will get 60 frames per second on
any Xbox while playing, unlike Bedrock, which has graphic settings to change lower because it lags a lot. Finally, if you despise waiting, Minecraft Xbox One edition is for you because it starts quickly. I have the original Xbox One, and it takes about 20 seconds to load the game, compared to Minecraft Bedrock, which can take up to 5 minutes or even 10. The downside is that the game has been discontinued, so it is stuck on version 1.12.2, released in 2017. You can still play online and join minigame servers. Also, it is no longer available digitally because it has been discontinued. If you have a digital-only Xbox, you are out of luck.

The ability to transfer your worlds and purchases from the 360 version make it so there's really no excuse to make this upgrade. It's obviously still not up to the scope of the PC version, but consoles have never been closer. With the promise of more to come in future updates it might not be long until it's there. Even without all of the PC benefits Minecraft on consoles is still a highly addictive experience.

There are no goals in the game other than the ones you make for yourself. It's a game that requires player driven exploration, creation, and destruction. The results are liberating. Finding new things to craft and shaping the world to look however you want it to is a blast. Animals and dangerous monsters who only appear at night give the world some extra life. You can get pets or fight until dawn against enemies like the explosive creeper that can destroy what you've built. Or you can focus on raising animals for food and sleep the night away so that you don't have to deal with monster.

The building mechanics are simple to use and give you an almost endless amount of freedom. Having friends along for the ride only serves to make the game more fun and increase your productivity. The larger world size compared to previous console versions means that there is even more potential and freedom to do whatever you want. The gameplay experience is truly endless.

If you have never experienced Minecraft then there is no better way to do it on consoles. While the PC version is still the way you will want to go for the biggest and more content rich version, with future updates on the horizon it's not hard to see how the game might one day match the PC version. As of right now though it is still an excellent way to play an excellent game. It's a non-stop source of player driven and created fun. One that I highly recommend experiencing.

I give "Minecraft: Xbox One Edition" a 9.1/10.

Mojong areWasnt sure where to put this but since this version of the game is basically the same as windows 10 one i will put it here. Mojong are thieves. I had expected that realms would play like the normal game as i was unable to try my free trail of realms due to life things. i was caught unawares by the fact that not only does it suck hard but you cant get your money back for time you don't want on a realm, meaning if they have your money for half a year and you find out how bad realms are well they are keeping it screw you. To further infuriate me they seem to be blocking comments about how bad realms are i can only assume to get more people to waste their money.
This wouldn't even be such an issue but the game runs better hosting locally from a fking xbox then on the realm, WTH how are you going to charge me for a service that is worse then what i could already get. The render distance is super low making it pointless to build anything of size since you wont be able to see it and flying on creative mode is pointless since you cant see anything to fly to it, basically its garbage. I bought half a year so i could play a world with my kids that they could work on when i was at work but they get lost in two seconds cause the entire world is covered in fog and Mojong wants me to know that i cant have my money back for the following months or even complain to them about this.
The sad part is even though this version of the game is inferior the java one its still really good, but i cant support a game like this when the company wont even allow people to talk about the problems they have, i feel like i have been robbed, i paid them expecting one thing, got another and now i cant even ask for my money back never mind get it.
