    Minecraft: New 3DS Edition is a surprisingly competent version of the game despite its obvious limitations. However, the draw distances are terrible, multiplayer isn’t available at the beginning, and it won’t stack up to the console versions. If you truly want Minecraft on the go and own a Nintendo Switch, I suggest buying that version instead as it is the same price and, unlike the New Nintendo 3DS Edition, it will be receiving the Better Together Update this Winter.

    Minecraft New 3DS Edition isn’t a bad game at all—at its core it’s still the same brilliantly addictive creativity sandbox. That said, its complete lack of multiplayer and the availability of the vastly superior Nintendo Switch version for the same price unfortunately makes Minecraft on 3DS functionally obsolete.

    There are already so many different ways to play Minecraft, and the 3DS version fails to live up to the standards set by the other versions. It’s not a bad slice of pizza, but there are so many better choices.

    The title of “New Nintendo 3DS Edition” is a misnomer as there is nothing here that makes this edition any more special than those already available. And now that we know it will not be included in the Better Together cross-play campaign, it almost feels dead on arrival. There is a chance, down the line, Minecraft: New Nintendo 3DS Edition will actually be worth its asking price, but that time is not now.

    Overall, Minecraft on New 3DS is exactly what I imagined it to be: a portable version of a game we’ve all played several times. If you’re in the market for a portable version of Minecraft, just get it on Nintendo’s newest system, the Switch.

    While many asked for the game on 3DS, the wait has dimmed most of those hopes, and now the game simply arrives too late to be worth it for most gamers. If the price drops and the 3DS is the single platform that you have as a Minecraft option, then sure, it's pretty decent. However, if you have any other way to play the game then it's likely better.

    Minecraft 3ds is a very special title to me, as the 3ds is my favorite console of all time and having Minecraft on it was a dream, so when iMinecraft 3ds is a very special title to me, as the 3ds is my favorite console of all time and having Minecraft on it was a dream, so when i saw the 2017 Nintendo direct and mc3ds was then released the same day I was overjoyed finally able to play one of my fav games on my fav console

    so the gameplay is well Minecraft , it will lag in some areas as it is on the 3ds but its still over all enjoyable and is my fav way to play on the go also the first game I've really done achievement hunting in i got them all (reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft3DS/comments/krh3qb/after_80_hrs_all_minecraft_3ds_achievements/ ) not super worth but definitely was fun and challenging over all recommend mc3ds if you love your 3ds and you want Minecraft for it, I personally give it 10/10 though that's pretty biased for me personally so Ill give it the fair rating of 8/10

    The first version of Minecraft that got me to do everything legit for the achievements, you'll love this game if you like Minecraft and love your 3ds, this is my fav way to play on the go    … Expand

However, this version crashes occasionally if I play too long, you can fall endlessly in creative, and the other problem is saving your game is a bit inconsistent, like if I die and lose all my items I can't exit the game and come back to my last save, if I do then the data with all my items and enchantment level gone and back to the re spawn area. Even so, this version of Minecraft is still enjoyable, I don't need maps, the controls are fine and adjustable, no lag, and it doesn't look like a downgraded version of Minecraft at all. So if you want to have Minecraft on the go, the new 3DS edition is acceptable, or the Switch edition is also option.… Expand

    This game is very bad. It is too slow and empty. The building is boring because the graphics are cubes but good looking. Play anything else.
