If you are in the market for a mix between a Shoot’em Up and a Roguelike, Steredenn: Binary Stars is a good choice. It doesn’t do anything extraordinary but offers a fun gameplay loop with a broad variety of upgrades and weapons. The Shoot’em Up experience suffers from too much randomness though. It’s hard to learn the stages and the bosses just because the stages are for the most part randomly generated and you will always go into boss fights with a different set of weapons and power-ups.

Once Upon a Puppet is a lovingly crafted 2.5D platformer with a fresh setting. Theater fans can certainly forgive minor flaws in the performance.

Inayah: Life After Gods is a good looking, classical Metroidvania that combines combat and pathfinding with varied use of gadgets. But platforming is too demanding compared to the weak combat. And also beside that the game is far from the perfection of games like Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Hardcore fans might love it, but there is no obligation to play it even for genre enthusiasts.

Whether alone or in couch co-op, the mongooses Niko and Luna discover hidden treasures and colorful worlds. With different difficulty levels there is something for everyone, but be warned even the easy mode is not that easy.

SNK's legendary fighting game series celebrates a highly successful comeback with Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. A complex combat system, unique characters and action that simply feels great are the main reasons why. So rev it up and unleash your fury.

We had high expectations for Tempest Rising and the game largely fulfilled them. The real-time spectacle looks top-notch and evokes fond memories of the halcyon days of Command & Conquer.

Mandragora is sidescrolling-action combined with Dark Souls with great combat, nice exploring and atmospheric graphics. It's not perfect, but still an indie pearl you should play if you love games like Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown or the classic Castlevania entrances.

Blue Prince is a masterpiece. All the different elements, the story, the gameplay and the overarching puzzles work in tandem to create an incredible piece of art that can only exist as a videogame. It obviously might not be for everyone but if you can entertain the idea of jumping into an extremely well made puzzle game then it should be Blue Prince without any doubt.

Finding Frankie is certainly one of the weaker entries into the popular mascot horror genre. It offers a somewhat novel idea by being set in an indoor park full of trampolines and parkour obstacles but that’s about it. The controls are way too flimsy for some maneuvers, the mascots themself have almost no screen time and it’s very short and still feels padded in places. If you’re looking for a cutesy horror adventure then you should look elsewhere.

Even though Resident Evil 3 does not quite have the same legendary status as some other entries in the franchise, it still is a game well-worth playing even in 2025.

An engaging blend of (slow) runner, puzzle game and platformer, Be Brave, Barb manages to capture right from the start with its quirkiness and colorful presentation.

Star Overdrive is a fresh take on the action adventure genre and it combines puzzle solving, fighting with high speed hoverboard action. In the end the mix was maybe too much to handle and it would have benefited from focusing on just one gameplay element.

Commandos: Origins brings the strength and weaknesses of the original-series to the table. While it suffers from a lack of user-guidance and certain inconsistencies, it also gives players a lot of freedom and creates some really satisfying moments.

One the one hand Monster Energy Supercross 25 is undoubtedly the best series' entry so far with better graphics, better physics and more tracks than ever before. But on the other hand that still does not mean the game could fully compete with the top games of the genre, not least because of the lack of varied gameplay and modes. A solid racing game mainly for a special target group.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows isn’t a radical revolution for the series. Instead, it refines the formula with minor improvements, delivering excellent stealth, engaging combat, and likable protagonists. The core gameplay remains largely familiar, but if you’re looking for the most stunning depiction of Japan in any medium, this is it.

Both look and sound are truly excellent. Be it the design of the various locations of the game, the performances of the actors bringing it to life or the absolutely fantastic soundtrack. If you allow yourself to get immersed in the world of “South of Midnight” you will find an experience that feels oddly authentic despite the setting being fairly magical. The weakest points are when “South of Midnight” starts to feel too much like a videogame by placing upgrade points on a path during very emotional scenes or being structurally way too obvious. Nevertheless the experience is one of a kind and can be extremely engaging.

Mother Machine unleashes the Gremlins on the world and brings a sweet change into the gray everyday life. Even if the single-player mode quickly becomes repetitive and not particularly exciting, the multiplayer mode makes the game all the more worthwhile. If you're looking for an entertaining game for a group of friends, you'll find it here.

In its best moments, Bleach: Rebirth of Souls is a love letter to the anime hit with its thrilling fights, excellent soundtrack and superb style and offers fans everything they want. However, especially the at best modest selection of modes in the multiplayer section prevents it from becoming the number one anime fighting game.

AI Limit is a good debut from the young team at SenseGames with an interesting sci-fi world full of mysteries that motivate you to keep playing, as well as a tactically challenging combat system. However, various problems prevent the Soulslike from reaching its full potential.

Atomfall is a good survival-action game set in a unique world in an alternative1950's North England. The combat is fun. The exploring worthwhile and comes with much freedom. Nevertheless modern comfort is few and far between, what's part of the expericence, but could easily make you feel lost in a way that's beyond fun.

The First Berserker: Khazan combines an excitingly directed revenge story with lots of customization options and brutal action to create a souls-like highlight.

Atelier Yumia introduces many new gameplay elements that will influence the entire Atelier series. Some still need polishing, but we can certainly see where it's headed.

With the best story so far, that's a well done tribute to Japanese culture as well, and with its two widely different main heroes, Assassin's Creed Shadows is just one of the best parts of the series so far. Story, gameplay and dye atmosphere generate a great synergy making the game a must buy for action fans, especially for those who love Japan and want to experience the most groundbreaking part of the country's history.

With the Definitive Edition on Switch Xenoblade Chronicles X remains a great Science-Fantasy RPG with a varied and gigantic open world. The gorgeous landscapes and a fantastic soundtrack provide a strong dye atmosphere that just gets torpedoed by the silent main character. If you should have skipped the Wii U original, the refined version on Switch is your best chance to catch up on a great JRPG experience.

WWE 2K25 shows two faces in our review: On the one hand, it's a highly enjoyable wrestling-game with tons of content and great fanservice. The heavily implemented microtransactions and an uninspired The Island harm the overall experience. However, in the end the positive aspects outweigh the negative ones, so that we can still recommend the wrestling game.

Overall Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter plays it very safe. It takes what worked in the first game and adds a few bells and whistles in different areas of the game. The combat is still very satisfying and the world is brimming with life and atmosphere. Thanks to a fantastic look and Doug Cockle as the narrator it is easy to get lost in this grim world of rats and frogs.

Grimoire Groves is a successful mixture of roguelike dungeon-crawler and cozy game. While the graphics are absolutely cute and adorable, the story is unfortunately not, it lacks depth and variety. The game is fun for a few hours, but then quickly becomes grindy and monotonous.

Despite its age, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light still manages to be a thrilling, albeit unusual installment in the franchise. The blend of action and puzzle gameplay especially shines in co-op.

While the PGA franchise has a long history behind it, this Apple Arcade release serves as an easy to grasp introduction for newcomers, while still offering something for more experienced players. Not quite a hole-in-one, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Dredge manages to pull the player in with its unexpectedly dark world and does not let go. It goes to show how far some good ideas can take a game that initially looks so basic and make it into something special.

Schleich is a German brand that specialises in making little plastic figures for mostly kids.Eldrador Creatures: Shadowfall is based on a line of these figures and would be primed to be turned into a genre that is easily digestible for young gamers. Yet the developers turned the license into a surprisingly deep and for the most part breezy and fun turn based tactics game. While the technical aspects are mostly middling it can still be a very entertaining first foray into a new genre for young and old alike.

Split Fiction absolutely lives up to the high expectations. Hazelight Studios is further refining the co-op formula from A Way Out and It Takes Two. The result is an almost flawless split-screen hit.

The Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection is a nice collection for nostalgics and fans of the early days, but it's just a classic port - many of the games can only be played today with thick nostalgic glasses. We expected more adjustments in a game that came out at full price.

The farming activities presented here are solidly implemented in VR and are quite fun at first. The models of agricultural machinery also look usable, the controls are quickly internalized, the comfort functions are okay and the music fits the action. However, in direct comparison with Farming Simulator 25, the VR version is pretty weak in terms of content. After just a few hours you want nothing more than more different activities, a significantly larger map with more places to explore, more machines, more crops to grow, and generally more things to do. Sadly also livestock breeding and forestry do not play a role here.

PGA Tour 2K25 takes some noticeable steps forward compared to its now two-year-old predecessor: PGA Tour 2K25 looks and plays great. No reason for criticism? Yes, there are. The career is suffering of the tedious interviews and the overall very staid surroundings. In addition, minor balancing problems and the still very present microtransactions are annoying.

Two Point Museum is a worthy successor to the franchise, with the usual humor and great new game elements. If you've always wanted to explore and exhibit dinosaur bones or extraterrestrial artifacts, this is the game for you. If only you didn't forget the time so quickly while playing.

Combining the formula of Dynasty Warriors with a Roguelight might seem mad on paper but works surprisingly well in Warrriors: Abyss. It’s fun collecting the over 100 available heroes and going into battle with them. Calling gathered heroes into battle for devastating combos is engaging. Unfortunately the fights can feel overwhelming because after a certain point every screen is filled to the brim with endless effects of both allies and enemies.

20 years of consistent development lead to the biggest and most beautiful Monster Hunter ever. New ideas refresh the gameplay without taking the dye axe to proven trademarks. Outstanding game development craftsmanship meets a unique artistic vision - an irresistible experience.

Luck be a Landlord is a game for a good time not a long time. Though its graphics and music are very simple, the same can’t be said about the gameplay which provides an addictive experience.

While buccaneer fans continue to desperately wait for a remake of Assassin's Creed Black Flag, Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio are launching a pleasantly entertaining spin-off to Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth that more than lives up to its name and will easily keep fans of the series entertained for 20 to 30 hours. Narratively, the spin-off is a bit weaker than Infinite Wealth, the recycling of locations like Hawaii can be annoying at times and here and there important dialogues don’t feature voice overs. Despite those flaws it’s still one of the most fun pirate-themed games in recent years.

For a small price you not only get Casey Jones as a playable character but also an entirely new region to fight through on your way to save Master Splinter. While Casey doesn’t feel too different from the four available Turtles he is still a fun character to play and the new enemies and bosses in the titular junkyard bring something fresh to the table as well.

Afterlove EP is a mix of visual novel, rhythm game and a life sim that teleports us to the beautiful city of Jakarta. There we accompany Rama, a young musician who recently lost his girlfriend and is now trying to find his way back to normality after grief took over his life.

A nicely told story of life and its ups and downs completed with hand drawn art and well picked indie music by a local band.

As great as Marvel's Spider-Man 2 may be in terms of content and gameplay, Sony and Nixxes initially ruined the launch of the game on PC from a technical perspective. However, it's all the more pleasing that the developers are currently tackling the problems quickly and that several of them have already disappeared. If Nixxes' patching efforts continue at this pace, there is a good chance that the game will hopefully soon reach the level of quality that we also know from the PS5 version. Until then, our devaluation will remain.

While certain elements of Trials of Mana+ certainly show the original game's age, it captivates players with its 90s JRPG charme. This, in addition to the engaging story, the improved visuals and the fun game play loop make it a package that is still well-worth experiencing, even more than a quarter century after its original release.

Cassette Beasts scratches that Pokémon itch, but offers enough new ideas in terms of setting and gameplay to differentiate itself. So if you are looking for a monster collecting game but want to go old-school, you should definitely try its free-to-start part to see if it is right for you.

If you have an Apple Arcade subscription and are looking for a tactical game that is easy enough to learn on the surface, but has quite a bit of depth beneath it, Three Kingdom Heroes might just be what you are looking for.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is a well refined sequel that remains very faithful to its unique predecessor. That's great for fans of part one, because here they get what they like, just bigger, better, and more technically mature. But if you did not get warm with part one, there is little hope that will change dramatically with part two.

Big Helmet Heroes is colorful and has some very cute character designs. Unfortunately otherwise it is a pretty shallow button masher. The different heroes play mostly the same and have almost no depth to them. Especially in later levels it also becomes hard to keep track of your character, especially if you are playing with another person and there are a lot of enemies on the screen all using multicolored attacks.

Civilization VII is a great 4X-Game and a fresh start for the series. It however is far from perfect, which harms the overall experience at first. Civilization VII needs time, but gets better with every hour and eventually turns out to be a motivating, complex and enjoyable part of the series.

Sniper Elite: Resistance delivers Rebellions patented action-stealth-experience. While the gameplay remains intense and enjoyable, the presentation and the handling need an overhaul for the next parts of the series.

Dead Letter Dept. is a very specific game. It combines typing and horror. But it does so incredibly well. The gameplay works perfectly with its low-poly look, its sometimes very weird moments and the very creepy atmosphere. Completely mundane work suddenly feels threatening and hostile. It tells a story that couldn’t be told in this way in any other medium. If the concept of a horror-typing game excites you in any way then you should absolutely get it.

Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap is great where it really counts. Building traps and setting up elaborate killboxes using a variety of traps and status effects is incredibly satisfying. The 3rd-Person Action is serviceable but does not excel. Unfortunately controlling the menus on a controller is an absolute pain and feels very slow, imprecise and often just plain bad.

Echo of Ada inevitably casts a spell over you with its gameplay loop. Each mission is associated with a not inconsiderable risk, which is why you should always weigh up how much you want to risk. However, problems such as the tedious grind and the microtransaction model prevent the game from seriously challenging the best in the genre.

Tales of Graces f Remastered is a neatly improved JRPG that shines above all with many convenient improvements and allows the successful story from back then to be easily experienced today. German subtitles and access to lots of DLC content are a real plus.

If you don’t have any particular nostalgia for either The Phantom Menace or the original release of Jedi Power Battles then this might not be for you. The controls work but are not very precise with the Jedis sometimes feeling like a tank. Oftentimes it’s very hard to hit enemies despite being almost inside of them. But it’s still a short and fun action-fueled romp through the areas of the first Prequel with the more than occasional new enemy thrown in.

With the HD-remake Donkey Kong Country Returns remains an excellent platformer that still shines related to its gameplay and its (improved) visuals. If you already played the versions on Wii or 3DS, the new version on Switch seems a little bit too expensive despite the mostly visual upgrades. But if you love the genre and did not play the original game yet, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD is a must buy.

While the discussion on which Final Fantasy game is the best of all time usually centers around parts 6 and 7, Final Fantasy IV is a great game in its own right. A great throwback to a time when JRPGs were a lot different than today.

While Animal Crossing Pocket Camp Complete by no means is an intricate Life simulation, it is an essential cozy game that is just perfect if you need to unwind. After more than 7 years, there is a ton of content here, so if you have never played, here is your chance to pay once and then enjoy and relax with the game at your heart's content.

Monument Valley 3 delivers the captivating atmosphere and puzzles the franchise is known for, while expanding in terms of gameplay and scope. More content has been promised by Netflix, and we are looking forward to it.

While Dynasty Warriors: Origins is not a complete reboot of the franchise it still offers enough new elements to make it a great starting point into the series. The big battles are still the strongest part while the main story is interesting enough. The story of the protagonist is rather boring though and the character often feels completely out of place in the retelling of the history of the Three Kingdoms. The main battles are grand and exciting but everything else can start to feel rather boring after a while. With that said it still offers a fun “Dynasty Warriors” experience on modern hardware.

Neon Blood is a classic case of style over substance. The world ChaoticBrain Studios created is beautiful to look at but rather empty when you explore it. The combat mechanics are dumbed down and borderline boring at times and the story manages to just about scratch the surface of what it could be.

MXGP 24 is not a great racing-game. Despite its official license, MXGP 24 delivers nothing noteworthy to the genre. With lackluster physics, bland presentation and a boring, races gets annoying quick.

Flint: Treasure of Oblivion combines strategy role-playing gameplay with pen and paper elements - and it works! However, as a player you have to teach yourself a lot, the fights lack oomph and some aspects of the game are unfortunately not intuitive.

The gods of the Greek pantheon are front and center in “Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island”. They feel like real characters and it is a joy to get to know them. Unfortunately the gameplay is a very shallow affair that consists mostly of finding an item on one side of the island that you have to deliver to a god on the other side of the island. This can be very appealing though and combined with the great cast it results in more than one long and annoying fetch quest. Paired with the great visuals and so many very cute animations makes it a worthwhile stay on Ambrosia Island.

Fairy Tail 2 is made for fans who can enjoy the well-implemented attacks. Visually appealing and exciting, especially thanks to the many effects and the story moves along quickly. However, it's still somehow just typical JRPG uniformity that would like to have more individuality.

The animations in Stars in the trash are really well done and are reminiscent of the old cartoons of yesteryear. A cute adventure game, which is unfortunately played through far too quickly.

Unbelievable variety of aircraft and possibilities, system-deep simulation and models of countless aircraft types, fascinating and detailed 1:1 image of the globe: Microsoft Flight Simulator is an incredibly ambitious project whose teething troubles should not be overestimated. We look forward to seeing this grand vision become more and more of a reality.

With its mostly poor AI and some minor bugs, Indiana Jones is not a perfect game. But beside its minor flaws and especially how the game breathes the essence of its iconic hero it is just one of the best action-adventures in the last few years and a must-have for everyone who loves Indy or the genre in general.

If you take the time to dive into the mechanics, Total War: EMPIRE has a lot of depth and offers plenty of exciting battles at land as well at sea.

If you look at Fitness Boxing 3 as a regular game, it is too less demanding especially concerning precision. But the game wants to be an interactive fitness coach and does pretty well as this. If you want to beat your inner demon for making sports, Fitness Boxing is a great and highly motivating choice for Switch owners. [Good]

Fantasian Neo Dimension succeeds wonderfully in making familiar turn-based battles appear fresh with an exciting twist. But the (somewhat predictable) mystery story and likeable main characters are also convincing. Although a few weaknesses prevent the game from reaching its full potential, this RPG adventure is not just for genre fans.

Mindlock – The Apartment is filled with dark humor and funny/lovely animations. Highly recommended for fans of old-school point&click adventures like Monkey Island or the old Daedalic-Games. Puzzles, Riddles and a dark, depressing but sometimes funny background story awaits you!

Dungeons of Dreadrock 2 doesn't change too much in terms of overall gameplay or presentation, but for the sequel to a game that could only really be criticized for being a tad short, that's not a bad thing. We thoroughly enjoyed our second trip through those tricky dungeons with all its new challenges and can easily recommend it for anybody interested in the puzzle genre.

Stalker 2 is not a complete disaster. But the game is much closer to that than it is to a good game. Especially the worse balancing and the poor, faulty AI lead to a high interference to some nice mechanics and typical elements from the predecessors. I you are a die hard fan of the Stalker series it's probably worth taking a look. But if not, there is a very high chance you might regret a purchase.

Let's Sing 2025 is the karaoke party for home with many German hits. It's fun and does what it's supposed to do - nothing more, nothing less.

Stray makes the port to the Switch and the orange ball of fur lets us immerse ourselves in a dystopian world full of drones and robots. If you like cats, you should take a closer look at the game and be patient with the awkward controls.

Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival is a fantastic rhythm game that is now available on all platforms. It offers a nice selection of songs in different genres, feels great when played and is very colorful and weird. Using a virtual city as a menu isn’t great and not being able to just play and get all the experience points to level up feels bad. But it’s still a fantastic title that looks and sounds amazing.

Even more than 26 years after its original release, Dragon Quest III has lost none of its likeable adventure flair. Although the HD-2D Remake could have been more modernized here and there, this does not change the fact that this is the best version of the JRPG classic.

With LEGO Horizon Adventures Guerilla Games and Studio Gobo deliver a nice action adventure with a lot of LEGO humour and an entertaining combat system that distinguishes the game in a good way from the titles of TT Games. It's a little short, but if you like the LEGO style and humour as well as Horizon: Zero Dawn, it is easy to make a recommendation.

While Metro Awakening stumbles in some finer details, it manages to deliver its ambitious core idea: Transporting the player into an even more immersive version of the bleak and desolate world of Metro. While the Quest 3 standalone version definitely shows the limits of the headset's hardware it is nonetheless an impressive display of graphical fidelity, interactivity and stunning lighting work. It is no doubt one of the must-own games for this headset if you are brave enough to descent into the tunnels below Moscow.

The Farming Simulator 25 is nothing less than one of the best games in its genre segment. While the gameplay does not change that much compared to the predecessor, there are many technically improvements. But they are not as huge as you might expect three years after the last part. Because of that the new Farming Simulator ultimately retains its class without really expending it.

Anyone who has ignored or missed the campaigns of the last CoD parts should take a look here again with Black Ops 6 at the latest – it’s worth it! But also this year's Zombies mode is a real pulse accelerator and scores with two strong maps, sophisticated power-ups, a driving story, tons of Easter eggs and nice convenience functions such as the save feature for solo gamers. In multiplayer it’s back-to-the-roots, meaning rather compact maps meet tried-and-tested modes and little experimentation. The omnidirectional movement system works great here too and the content roadmap looks promising. Spawn balancing, on the other hand, requires further attention.

Outside of its setting and enemies [Redacted] doesn’t have much to do with its big brother The Callisto Protocol. It stands on its merits as a very solid Roguelite Twin-Stick Shooter that was inspired by some of the greats of the genre. The rivals let it stand out of the crowd of very similar games to some degree. While the shooting feels great and has some punch the melee system is not satisfying and often seems more like a liability than an asset.

Furistas Cat Cafe+ is great if you are looking for an idle game with a charming presentation and plenty of cats to just relax and enjoy the quieter moments in life.

What began as an indie demo more than a decade ago has evolved into a well-crafted piece of art that is anything but ordinary. If you have never played The Stanley Parable before, this Ultra Deluxe release now gives you one less excuse.

Empire of the Ants isn't your typical RTS-game. Instead it's a wonderful looking experience, that drags you into the life of insects. Despite the great presentation, the game itself suffers from lackluster controls and camera-issues.

Mario & Luigi: Brothership is a great combination of Super Mario RPG and Paper Mario in a unique floating island world. Although it is a solo game, the RPG succeeds in preventing an inimitable co-op-like experience with a high variety in combat, puzzles and skill based challenges. Just one of the best Switch games in 2024 and a must have for any Mario fan.

In some regards Slitterhead is fantastic. It offers an engaging story told through the perspective of several characters, a simple yet fun combat system that excels through the ability to possess different people at any moment and super cool monster design in the Slitterheads. Unfortunately a lot of the other aspects feel very underbaked. Stealth isn’t engaging at all and sometimes kills all the momentum the game had going, the controls are always snappy enough for what you want to do and some aspects of the presentation feel very oldschool. As a package the game is a lot of fun though and offers a glimpse into what the developers at Bokeh Game Studio are able to do in the future. That is certainly bright and hopefully brings more somewhat unique titles like Slitterhead certainly is.

While Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered is absolutely a product of it’s time it mostly doesn’t feel like it in the parts where it counts. The gameplay is fluid and varied. The story itself is mostly cliche but the dialogue and its treatment of women is very outdated and sometimes even gross. On the other hand the dialogue between Garcia and Johnson is raunchy and crude but still gives me a good amount of chuckles.

Zero Dawn Remastered looks better and, thanks to the Dual Sense controls, plays and feels even better than the PS4 original. But you need to decide by yourself, if the ten bucks is worth it to play the game again. If you do not have the game yet, Zero Dawn, the Remastered version is just the best opportunity to play it. Not least because here you get the main game as well as worthline story extension The Frozen Wilds.

In Life Is Strange, Maxine Caulfield makes a successful return in another exciting crime adventure with supernatural elements. Despite the timeline mechanics, the gameplay remains shallow. However, the game effortlessly makes up for this shortcoming in terms of narrative and atmosphere.

Dragon Age – The Veilguard isn't without its flaws, but it shows Bioware's qualities after titles like Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem. The new "Dragon Age" may be less tactical, but delivers high-impacts battles that still preserve enough RPG-elements to be intensive and deep enough. With tons of choices and consequences to make, player are going to be hooked to this adventures for weeks.

New World: Aeternum is a good MMO addition for console players. The combat works great with a controller even though that leaves it with a relatively low number of usable skills per weapon.
