Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes mainly delivers what the developers promised. It's a mostly very classical JRPG experience with beautiful graphics and great music. But while fans of the 90's JRPGs might get anything they love about these classics here, they also get nearly everything, that they might hate about them.- GAMES.CH

Perish has more style than substance. The amazing soundtrack and a neat selection of different weapons can’t hide the middling gameplay that lacks any meaningful way to build your character during a run. The repetitive nature of the runs become boring fast while the impressive boss fights are genuinely fun.- GAMES.CH

Mixture is not quite as well-rounded as Moss. The story is also less exciting and spectacularly staged than the competition. But once you've got the hang of it, perfected the handling of the sometimes stubborn potion auto-aim function, Mixture will draw you in more and more. Not only because the level design and skill progression are right, but also because the fights challenge genre fans, but never overwhelm them. Added to that is the scope of 8 to 9 hours, which is good for a VR game.- GAMES.CH

C-Smash VRS is one of the most original sports games for VR. The minimalist look may not appeal to everyone, but it goes perfectly with the game's electro soundtrack. The humor and the stylish transition of South Park into the third dimension are two things, most fans will like. Unfortunately behind that, Snow Day isn't a good game. Rise of the Rōnin is a great action RPG with an intense combat mechanic, a strong and captivating story line and a huge and diverse open world. The weak spot is the balancing. With Dragon’s Dogma 2 Capcom is offering a mammoth action role-playing game that will delight fans of classic fantasy RPG genre. Driven by missions that can often be solved in a variety of ways, sometimes even pleasingly puzzle-heavy, and an atomically staged game world made up of very varied biomes, you will experience a story full of twists and turns and challenging fights against huge monsters. Sadly, performance-wise 30 fps is the limit here on consoles. Also, sometimes you encounter smaller logical errors and minor visual bugs, but overall it’s a very entertaining title.- GAMES.CH

While it’s still somewhat struggling with the legacy of Bullfrog’s Dungeon Keeper, Dungeons 4 from German developer Realmforge Studios continues to carve out its own identity. Outcast: A New Beginning scores with its huge freedom by exploring the world, gaining progress and solving quests in a more or less free order. The humour and the stylish-fantastic graphics are also standing on the bright side, even if some annoying bugs and performance issues do some harm to the strong atmosphere. The bottom line is that A New Beginning is a distinct rise of quality compared to its predecessor in mostly any aspect. But this is not enough for a general recommendation. Unicorn Overlord is a real tactical role-playing heavyweight with a variety of gameplay mechanics that intertwine very thoughtfully. The countless 'who should I let live and who not' decisions and the characters associated with them make the campaign very attractive and increase the replay value considerably. Other strengths include the early freedom when exploring the game world and the successful German on-screen texts. The twist-filled story also serves its purpose, although Vanillaware often follows familiar narrative paths here.- GAMES.CH

With Expeditions: A Mudrunner Game Saber Interactive takes a new spin on the beloved offroad franchise. With a much lesser focus on transportation over exploration, this time more than ever the journey is the goal. A more guided structure eases new players in, while veterans can discover plenty of challenging side missions off the beaten path. While there are some technical issues at launch and the multiplayer is sorely missed (to be added via free update later), the package as a whole is still a solid game for those who don't mind taking it slower.- GAMES.CH

The creators manage to maintain the common story thread, but always adapt it so that the result feels fresh and interesting even for dye connoisseurs. This was already the case with the first part of the remake, but in our opinion it works even better here - also due to the open areas that hold many surprises and the excellent reinterpretation of key moments from back then. While Skull & Bones is far from the worst game ever made, it completely fails in conveying its vision of becoming a legendary pirate captain. Instead, it chases every conceivable gaming trend from excessive crafting, battle passes and hands-off story telling and leaves next to no impact whatsoever. Islands of Insight feels like the developers took the Korok challenges from the recent The Legend of Zelda titles and crossed them with The Witness. It’s a wonderful playground full of different kinds of puzzles, some deviously crafted into the environment itself. While there’s little story to latch on to and no real fail-state, the thrill of discovery has definitely kept us going far longer into the night than we thought possible. Banishers: Ghost of New Eden isn't a perfect game, but a great example, why games are much more than a sum of their single components. The dual character combat is fun and just one of the aspects, where Red and Antea form an inextricable unit. The world looks nice and is worth exploring. And while the new Zombies mode is a mixed bag, versus-multiplayer remains good fun - thanks to small but wise gameplay changes and lots of content and modes. However, if you were hoping for fewer remake-maps and a wealth of new combat scenarios, you should look elsewhere.- GAMES.CH

Vampire: The Masquerade is an ambitious game from an indie development studio. The result is solid and it entertains well throughout its eight-hour runtime. First and foremost, the game world is superb. On the other hand the stealth sequences disappoint with rather fiddly controls. We sincerely hope that a patch will fix these issues.- GAMES.CH

Fans will feel right at home. The Walking Dead Saint and Sinners: Chapter 2:Retribution takes the successful formula and enriches the gameplay with neat additions like night missions and new weapons. Hoewever the shift towards a more action-oriented gameplay and the bad story might be enough to break the deal for you.- GAMES.CH

Jagged Alliance 3 is a masterful blend of different genres. At the surface level it’s a tactical shooter with some heavy simulation elements, but it expands during the lengthy campaign into deep strategic elements, managing multiple troops of soldiers and deepening your bond to those colorful and satirized mercenaries with surprisingly well-crafted and deep roleplay elements as well. The lack of hand-holding or in-depth tutorials may add to the struggle for survival for some, but also adds a steep learning curve and hefty barrier of entry to an otherwise extraordinary game.- GAMES.CH

Tintin Reporter could have been a solid mixture of Adventure and action game. But there is not just a huge number of minor bugs and continuous performance issues that separates the game from a neat score. There are also some fatal bugs leading to an explicit warning not to buy Tintin Reporter until the crucial problems might have been solved.- GAMES.CH

Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name is a more than solid spinoff for the successful Yakuza-series. Good points that lack the overarching structure to be fully realised: Ghostbusters VR would probably have worked better as an adult-oriented game with a dedicated campaign. As it is, the game is only suitable for short play sessions, and the long-term motivation is unlikely to be there for most gamers.- GAMES.CH

Codemasters delivers on the track and features some of the most intense and nerve-wrecking rallye-action of the past years. Considering this is the first outing under the new license and with the Unreal-Engine, EA Sports WRC is a more than solid start, but also has its flaws in career-mode and overall balancing and presentation.- GAMES.CH

RoboCop: Rogue City surprises with beautiful and varied level design, fun shooter gameplay and nice detective quests. However, this is offset by wooden character animations, performance slumps in cutscenes and sound problems. The story stays too close to the movies and fails to add a memorable chapter to the RoboCop universe.- GAMES.CH

With its huge amount of compact and fast mini-games WarioWare: Move it! is an entertaining party game. Jusant is a wonderful gaming experience with an almost meditative flow, supported by an atmospheric soundtrack and almost perfectly balanced game mechanics. Despite its high ambitions, the game cannot hide its presumably small budget. Instead of the infinite freedoms of space, we spend seven hours in confined spaces. We shoot at an average level and successfully apply smaller VR elements. At least the story entertains well. Finally, technical shortcomings also lead to the price-performance ratio not being right.- GAMES.CH

Sword Art Online: Last Recollection is definitely worth a look for fans of the anime series with its fresh story approach and offers a thoroughly interesting look at some of the events of the show's third season. However, the action RPG can never fully exploit its potential, be it in terms of story, gameplay or quest design. Thus, the game clearly falls short of its possibilities.- GAMES.CH

While Endless Dungeon can be a blast in cooperative Multiplayer, the game lacks anything truly new or outstanding for this very popular genre. The tactical mix of tower defense, strategic exploration and traditional twin-stick shooting can be entertaining, but for solo players there’s just too many better, more interesting choices to play out there. Yes, Alan Wake 2 is very linear and we have actually seen more dynamic fights. Sonic Superstars won’t change anyone’s mind on the Sonic franchise, but instead serves as somewhat of a soft reboot. It’s drawing from the strength of the old games, while introducing new zones, new abilities and 4-player co-op. At its very core it’s still playing things save and doesn’t change too much about the established formula, but it lays an excellent foundation on which Sega could and should built upon, as unlikely as that is, given the franchises history.- GAMES.CH
