There is no doubt that Splatoon 3 sets out on a path that has already been paved by its predecessors, leading straight to success. The game manages to provide the same sense of colorful action and enjoyment in a more refined way compared to the previous titles, though it lacks the spirit and the features that would name it as a true sequel. Until all the new features that have been promised by Nintendo become available, Splatoon 3 will remain a game that we enjoy, yet we do not truly need.

This time around, Treyarch was seriously devoted into the creation of a plot that emphasized the importance of characters and storytelling. Battlefield 6 marks a great return to the formula that originally established the franchise as one of the top choices in the genre. It doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel, nor does it need to. With Yakuza 0 overflowing with complexity and quality material, you would have expected Yakuza 6 to go for an even larger and more spectacular final story of its main character’s ark. Surprisingly, the developers chose to trim the fat and return to the starting origins of the show. While it does feel like a step backwards in some cases, it does allows for a far more dramatic experience and believable storyline where you can actually feel the intent of the characters and get invested in them and their lives. A beautiful, heavy on text, visual novel with interesting and innovative adventure elements wrapped up in a well-orchestrated story arc. While we would like to reprimand Capcom for this delay over the 3DS version, we are still happy to enjoy this little gem in more platforms.

Once again, blatant microtransactions stand out as NBA 2K26’s biggest flaw. Still, fans will appreciate the many core improvements, most notably the new ProPlay Engine, which at last delivers smoother and more realistic animations.

Unfortunately, the open world segments, one of the biggest additions in Exodus, have the constant feel of fillers, devoid of any noteworthy substance. It is an aspect of the game that could benefit of significant overhaul or scrapped altogether in a potential (and very welcome) sequel. On the other hand, the shooting is extremely satisfying and the more linear levels that come from the main missions bring the high-quality design, variety and claustrophobic feeling that fans of the series come to expect. All in all it is a Metro experience albeit with some… fat that could be trimmed.

If you are in a search for something completely different, a game that looks back to the age of "choose you own adventure" books, the well written and masterfully crafted story of The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante is a perfect fit for you.
