ROUTINE is a blisteringly intense horror game with stunning visuals, suffocating atmosphere, and some of the best audio design you’ll hear in 2025. Its C.A.T. system makes the world deeply immersive and opens the door to unique gameplay moments, even if the game’s intentional obscurity can sometimes frustrate. Still, for anyone craving a fiercely idiosyncratic title that blasts conventional game design straight to the moon, ROUTINE is an absolute treat.- Gameliner

Those who are thinking of embarking on the expedition that is The Alters, should first ask themselves what their prime objective is. If the answer is 'standard sci-fi management game', disembark ASAP, because The Alters is anything but standard. While management is a core aspect of The Alters, dealing with complex personalities becomes more prominent as your precious time ticks away. Just remember that failing is human and therefore inevitable, and it will suck, so ask all your alter ego's if you're up for all that trial & error.- Gameliner

Absolum mostly wins you over with its strong mix of variation, challenge, and aesthetics. The roguelite builds a mysterious world with intriguing characters, and the gameplay constantly pushes you to improve. SHUTEN ORDER is an ambitious game that combines five distinct genres into a cohesive experience. Each section reveals more about the world and characters, with a story that deepens over time. However, frequent dialogue and gameplay interruptions can make the pacing feel slow and limit player engagement. Despite this, the gameplay is solid and the unique art style and Japanese voice acting reflect the developers' own style and cultural background.- Gameliner

Big Bad Wolf's Lovecraftian investigation horror experience pulls out all the stops to corrupt the brains of many a Cthulhu fan. From dazzling locations full of references to volumes of H.P. Lovecraft lore, Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss spares no detail. The fact that you have to scan every square centimeter until you lose your mind, and still run the risk of missing vital information, might well be a low point for some. With a bit of bad luck, it drives you to mental corruption, but it is a sacrifice that an audience with The Great Old One requires.- Gameliner

Metal Eden stands out as my favorite shooter of 2025 so far, blending a gorgeously crafted cyberpunk setting with rapid, fluid movement that keeps the action relentless. Strong voice acting and sharp dialogue give the story real presence, while the eccentric, upgradeable weapons make the firefights memorable. Moses & Plato - Last Train to Clawville is an enjoyable detective journey that immerses you in the traditional world of crime fiction, with an animal twist. Each character has a distinct personality, making the conversations varied, and while the outcome felt somewhat predictable, the underlying motive was explored in more depth, adding context rather than delivering a true “wow” moment. Still, the ride to the finale is engaging and often amusing, making it well worth your time. Does it make any sense to treat an eight-year-old game to a remake? In the case of Arizona Sunshine, the answer is most definitely yes. Vertigo Games has done a fine job reanimating its undead classic by giving it some welcome Quality of Death upgrades, vastly improved visuals, and better than ever controls. Unfortunately, the seated mode seems to have gotten infected a bit and doesn't live up to the task at times. But if that's all, this Freddy is a happy Freddy.- Gameliner

It's almost impossible to not compare Transhuman Design's Jackal to "that other ultra-violent top-down shooter", but even if it does borrow quite some elements from Hotline Miami, Jackal brings its own funkiness to the poker table. For true soulslike fans, WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers is a strong recommendation — even a must-play. It might not be the absolute best soulslike out there, but developer Leenzee has delivered a very solid game on many fronts. What really stands out is the well-balanced mix between exploration and intense combat. Add to that the varied environments, plenty of mechanics to tinker with, and smooth-feeling fights, and you've got a compelling package. Where things do fall short, however, is the game’s performance — even on the PlayStation 5 Pro, it struggled to run smoothly. But if you can look past that, WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers is definitely worth your time.- Gameliner

FBC: Firebreak proudly earns its spot among the better co-op shooters out right now. It’s a slick-looking game where the unique missions and bizarre weapon choices really steal the show. Thanks to the many interactive elements in the sandbox, there’s more depth here than you might notice at first. Add to that the solid teamwork features, and deep progression systems, and it’s clear Remedy has delivered a strong package. The enemy AI isn’t all that tough though, and the amount of content at launch is a bit underwhelming - but even with those flaws, I can still wholeheartedly recommend FBC: Firebreak. Date Everything! is a strong first outing that shows the developers understand the core of a good visual novel dating sim. Each character is uniquely designed to reflect the object they represent and brought to life through great voice acting and clever writing. The game is rich with puns and hidden depth, especially for those who pay attention to names and dialogue. While the structure encourages progression through limited daily interactions and collectibles, endings with characters can feel static due to a lack of new dialogue afterward.- Gameliner

The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon continues the Calvard arc of the series in a largely successful way. The story is strong and the cast is colorful, but the journey is not entirely without flaws. The narrative unfolds very slowly at the start (a typical issue for the franchise), and at the same time this is absolutely not a beginner-friendly entry point. The combat system remains solid and offers plenty of room for experimentation. Even so, it can feel overwhelming at times, especially if you’re not already familiar with the series. MIO: Memories in Orbit is a strikingly stylish Metroidvania with the potential to rival the genre’s heavyweights, were it not for one nagging flaw: its pacing. Fans of the subgenre will find much to admire in its beautiful presentation, richly realized world, mysterious narrative, and clever level design, which offer plenty for veterans to sink their teeth into, even if the combat and platforming are more competent than exceptional. Blue Manchu once again produces a memorable mishmash with Wild Bastards. The setting contains many peculiarities, but it is mainly the legion of playable characters and their peculiar personalities that give the game its own character. In Wild Bastards you experience a highlight when you go on an excursion with your favorite bastards and use the unique skills that they have to offer. The combat is namely entertaining enough due to the various inspirations from other genres and solid, if not somewhat thoughtful, gunplay. It is therefore extra unfortunate that Wild Bastards suffers from just too many headaches to overlook it. Some elements of the game feel underdeveloped, such as the random relationship management and the indifference in the available maps. The main culprit, however, is the pacing of the game, which sometimes makes you feel like you are really stuck in certain parts for far too long. This is an issue in the main campaign, but then also kicks the replayability off the horse. Nevertheless, there's plenty to love in Wild Bastards, even if a one-way ticket through the intergalactic Wild West is enough.- Gameliner

The only things ruining the immersion are graphical issues, QTE-minigames that just don't land the way they should, and Port Wake that isn't as hustling and bustling as you'd expect from a major transport harbor.- Gameliner

Moomintroll: Winter’s Warmth is a charming and atmospheric cozy adventure that beautifully fits the warm, dreamy world of the Moomins. Building on Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley, it offers improved controls, more gameplay variety, and a stronger story that helps Moomintroll grow as a character. Its wintery atmosphere, gentle humor, and soothing soundtrack make it a delightful escape, while staying true to the franchise’s cozy identity. Though the puzzles are simple and the adventure is fairly short, its charm easily outweighs those minor drawbacks, making it a lovely recommendation for cozy game and Moomin fans alike.- Gameliner

Is God of War Sons of Sparta a good God of War game? Absolutely. It offers meaningful insight into Kratos’ past, backed by a stellar performance from T.C. Carson and rock-solid technical execution. Elden Ring Nightreign is ultimately carried by FromSoftware’s rock-solid gameplay systems, now applied across a fresh mix of subgenres. It’s an energetic and gripping experience, especially when the evolving world and signature combat loop click. However, the absence of modern social features like cross-play or voice chat, plus a strict focus on three-player co-op, makes it less welcoming for duos or solo adventurers. While some ideas may carry into future mainline titles, this spin-off leans heavily on proven formulas - for better and worse.- Gameliner

Is The Precinct that reverse GTA experience some people make it out to be? Yes and no. While Fallen Tree Games isometric police sim tries diligently to offer the player plenty of cops versus crooks action and an intriguing story, it also bogs down the action with mandatory patrol jobs to farm essential XP. Monsters are Coming! Rock & Road is an easy recommendation for gamers seeking a light, quirky experience built for short play sessions. It’s cheap, runs well across platforms, and offers solid, simple gameplay—though its repetition, awkward meta-progression, and lack of standout strengths keep it from knighting itself as the castle’s noble defender. Still, it’s fort-tastic fun if you jump in with the right mindset and a bit of time management.- Gameliner

Whether Tormented Souls should be considered an old-school Resident Evil clone or not, Dual Effects has spared no expense to prove that Tormented Souls 2 deserves its own place in the retro-style survival horror genre. Improved in almost every thinkable aspect, Tormented Souls 2 supersedes its predecessor with flying colors. The only thing putting a damper on this feat is the sub-par combat mechanics and the poor enemy AI that make every combat encounter a tedious chore.- Gameliner

Towers of Aghasba offers an intriguing world where you have to create the ecosystems and balance them. This leads to fantastical creatures and new materials. As you have to recreate and build the old cities, it’s all about restoring the world. Sadly, the game is full of bugs and is missing a lot of Quality of Life features. However, with updates and refinement, the game has the potential to evolve into a solid RPG-survival experience. [Early Access Score = 40]- Gameliner

Breachway effectively uses its sci-fi theme, with gameplay centered around strategic decisions based on ships, cards, and crew. However, you barely carry anything over to the next round. Which makes pre-run planning non-existing. While the resource-based card system works well, players are limited by a standard deck and RNG. The game looks polished with exciting visuals, but it currently lacks some depth and the desire to keep playing. [Early Access Score = 50]- Gameliner

9 Kings delivers a simple but engaging gameplay loop where selecting a king grants access to a set of cards used to place buildings and troops. Battles reward new cards, and strategic variety is encouraged through random blessings, perks, and different kings. The pixel art style and evolving buildings add visual clarity and satisfaction as you expand your kingdom. While more unique kings and game modes would enhance replayability, the Early Access launch is a promising start for developer Sad Socket. [Early Access Score = 80]- Gameliner

The difficulty level is definitely an issue. If you have no experience with the franchise, I therefore do not recommend Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era. However, if the game really appeals to you, I advise starting with the third installment so that you can learn the game's system without too much frustration. If you truly love a challenge, Olden Era is definitely for you, but it will certainly involve a lot of trial and error. Are you a long-time fan of the franchise? Then Olden Era is certainly worth the effort. The atmosphere does indeed resemble that of the old games, and the various modes and factions make the game pleasantly varied, allowing you to spend plenty of hours puzzling and exploring. It seems the developers have listened closely to the fans.- Gameliner

Even if the last-minute delay of La Quimera raised the eyebrows of many, it probably was the best thing that Reburn could have done, and so was the choice of shifting it into Early Access. The extra time has given the Ukranian studio some breathing room to drag La Quimera out of its utterly unplayable state, delivering a sci-fi shooter which is at least playable now. But make no mistake, while gunplay has been improved massively and even offers some solid action left and right, other aspect like story building and voice acting are still so unbearable that is't difficult to not feel a sense of embarrasment when sitting through the over-the-top Latin-Americans soap opera drama.
