Metal Eden is a fantastic title, brimming with explosive encounters and dazzling moments of traversal. It is as good as the other big budget run-and-gunner this year.

Metal Eden stands out as my favorite shooter of 2025 so far, blending a gorgeously crafted cyberpunk setting with rapid, fluid movement that keeps the action relentless. Strong voice acting and sharp dialogue give the story real presence, while the eccentric, upgradeable weapons make the firefights memorable. Though the campaign is short and the busy interface sometimes clashes with the style, Reikon Games once again proves their strength in shaping unforgettable cyberpunk games.

Metal Eden can’t, nor it wants to hide its Doom Eternal inspiration in a more sci-fi theme, but it’s hard to fault a game for trying to live up to one of the best shooters ever made. Metal Eden is an adrenaline rush of a high speed shooter with excellent shooting, great traversal, lovely visuals and soundscapes, one that keeps throwing fancy new moves and brutal new weaponry to play with. It’s a short ride, ending just around 4 hours, and a couple technical gremlins and perhaps its lack of innovation may deny it a spot among the gods of the genre. Still, if you wanna burst through a fast-paced FPS’ campaign before the barrage of massive releases in the next couple months, Metal Eden is an excellent choice!

Metal Eden may have clear inspiration, but emerges as an enjoyable adventure in its own right which unfolds at a breakneck pace. The eerily beautiful, mechanical world riddled with danger and intrigue compliments the fluid gameplay, elevating it above a simple shooter.

It's not a title that will define the year, but it can be worthy entertainment for those who enjoy the genre and are looking for a futuristic alternative. Ultimately, Metal Eden is a reminder that, while the ingredients are there, it's not enough to imitate the greats: you need that extra bit of personality, which only appears here in spurts, and that's perhaps the most frustrating aspect.

Metal Eden doesn’t try to be everything. It isn’t a sprawling open world, and it isn’t a 40-hour epic. What it is, though, is a concentrated shot of kinetic energy. If Doom is the power fantasy and Titanfall is the movement masterclass, Metal Eden is the scrappy cousin that blends the two into something that’s lean, stylish, and just plain fun but repetitive.
