There was so much to hope for from Monster of the Deep: its shimmering universe is pretty amazing once equipped with the PlayStation VR, and the game offers a beautiful walk in the land of Eos. Unfortunately, Square Enix's first virtual reality game misses the spot by falling short on ideas: the game repeats the same mechanics from start to bottom. Still, the idea of defeating a gigantic boss using a crossbow before shoeing him offers some satisfaction from time to time, but the adventure itself looks more like a storm in a teacup.

Intruders: Hide and Seek in spite of an intriguing concept pain to establish an atmosphere, a tension, the fault to a technique too much chick, but also because of a series of missions which seems only thought to lengthen the narrative of a title which although it lasts only four hours, has already seemed very long.

Concord is not a horrible game or an industrial accident, but it is not up to other competitors. Even more after eight years of development. If the SF universe and the mood The Guardians of the Galaxy are interesting at first, it would have been better exploited with a solo mode annex for example. Although the variety of heroes and their skills is one of the qualities of the title, we regret the relative softness of the set, the lack of sensations of some powers and originality in the modes. In the end, after a few hours, and except for this test, we have trouble thinking that we will play it again.

Despite a prologue that promises an oppressing and mystical atmosphere, Shattered Space leaves on the long run the taste of a « lazy » DLC that does not push its concept to its full extent. Its hand-crafted open world is gorgeous to look at, but sadly uninteresting to explore. House Va'ruun, the core of the story, deserved a better treatment, but falls short because of shallow characters and a scenario that poorly motivates the player to feel invested in. The whole experience can although be pleasant for the fans of the (too ?) classical Bethesda formula, despite an almost total lack of new gameplay mechanics and enemies to fight. Nevertheless, players who did not like Starfield in the first place will certainly not enjoy its first DLC. Let us hope that Bethesda will do better on a second one, presumably already in the works somewhere among the stars.

Though its basic game design idea (trying to reach the bottom of a well as fast as possible) may be nice in theory, its execution in Splash or Crash is terminally ill by design. Its prohibitive price for only 10 look-alike levels, the possibility to choose, right from the get-go, an indestructible ball, and the lack of precision of the 3DS stick combined with the absence of a gyro-based control option make it absolutely worthless.

It works easily around the traps of a too strict adaptation that would hurt the gameplay fun, and offers a beat'em all that may feel very redundant, still, but still a very enjoyable one for the fans. Blood Stone has been a weird experience for me. Its playability is dynamic but wonky, its production values are really inconsistent, its linearity fades a little when playing in difficult mode, its solo durability isn't so great but its multiplayer remains nice (though not great), and the non-stop action would be charming if there wasn't that annoying repetitiveness. Starship Troopers Extermination is aimed mainly at the most hardcore fans of the franchise. Those who want arachnid blood in their eyes, and to spit tons of lead on hundreds of creatures simultaneously. On that, no worries, you will have what you are looking for. For the others, however, it is another story. If we will willingly move beyond the visual aspect of the game, obviously below standards, it is difficult to find an excuse when it comes to talking about the ultimately redundant gameplay loop that never surprises us. Not to mention the ambient chaos, messy and unreadable where the competition has managed to make it fun and epic. The idea of having up to 16 players cooperate is fun, but only on paper since in reality, it is hell. On consoles (here the PS5 version) unfortunately it does not even manage to keep up with the framerate when things get worse, which happens... all the time. The end result clearly doesn't live up to expectations, even considering the caliber of the game. This Starship Troopers Extermination even forgot to set the mood outside of the battlefield, which is a shame.

Coffee Crisis is a nice homage to the traditional beat'em all games of the 90's, with a hilarious storyline. However the mechanics are too classical and redundant, causing the game to lose his interest quite quickly.

Dead or School is a pretty good game with a strange and artisanal design, but quite deductive after all.

This VR shoot'em up is not a good one. It is short, limited, uncomfortable... EVE Valkyrie is much, much better, check it out.

Despite its average and sometimes problematic gameplay, despite a poor multiplayer mode, Crackdown 3 is a nice open wold game with various activities and a mafia to take down boss after boss.

Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage is a very pleasant surprise for the old fans. When stripped of its IP, it is certainly difficult not to blame him for some weaknesses (a basic level design, poor graphics - still unprecedented for other Hokuto no Ken games), but what many would look as a weakness has also some sort of "curious old-school charm".

Disintegration is a tactical FPS with good ideas, but a poor execution.

If you were to find the perfect illustration of the downfall of Japanese RPGs, it would probably look like White Knight Chronicles II. Its combat system is wonky, trying to find the pieces of itself and finding only the player's weariness, its story and characters are so tasteless that one might wonder if we're still in 2011, and finally, its shameless recycling of maps and stuff from the first one doesn't do it any good. Only the multiplayer manages to linger on in our thoughts, baring a little esteem, but it's definitely not enough to dive into this tiresome adventure. Please don't fail on ninokuni like you ailed on this one, level-5, please.

Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games offers a fun gaming experience to young gamers. Aside from a few mini-games that can be quite painful, the game makes smart use of the 3DS' capabilities. That being said, the game will probably be too simplistic for hardcore sports fans.

Attractive in its original idea, How To Survive could have been more fun if it was not as lopsided: the gameplay is cagey and the game is quite repetitive. There is still a multiplayer mode, and battles are sometimes letting off steam.

Why did Square Enix bother to work on an online version of Final Fantasy XV ? Comrades just cuts short the open fights of the main game, taking off its charming exploration part. Naked as a baby, the adventure only serves four-players redundant fights, only if you survived the long lobby waiting. Only the hardcore dying fans of the Eos universe should spend some good time playing it.

Wolcen can be as fun as it is visually stunning. It has some brilliant ideas in terms of character development and feels great once you in a fight. But it also has a lot of technical and balancing issues that may prove that it needed more time before release.

This compilation combines two historic titles from Namco on the 3DS, and offers six games in total. Two of them date back to 80 and 81, and are displayed on such tiny screen that they become unplayable, two others are available in far superior versions (Pac-Man Championship Edition and Galaga Legions in DX versions on the XBLA and PSN), and the final two use the features of the 3DS (gyro for Pac-Man Tilt, a poor platformer, and Augmented Reality for Galaga 3D Impact, a shameful shooter), but both are incredibly lame.

Playing Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 makes us wonder why Capcom split the Mega Man X series in two. With the same bonus as the first compilation, you are left with episodes X5 to X8, which carry the license with them into an abyss of torpor. Why would you get this second part? We do not know either.
