There's never a dull moment in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. There's a new item at practically every turn, and you can't travel more than a few feet without stumbling upon a side-quest. Players always have one skill or another that they can be honing, and the option to visit the Fateweavers is always there for a change of pace.

With such a generic narrative and no penalty for failing missions, the story campaign lacks tension and fails to hold the attention. However, in Titanfall's case, the failure to implement a strong narrative is ultimately inconsequential. Players will tell their own stories simply by jumping and jetting through the vertical environments, experimenting with parkour and, of course, causing destruction in the seat of those towering Titans.

UFO 50 may be inspired by an era that's several generations ago, but an incredible amount of imagination and work went into making this collection of games more than just about evoking nostalgia. While there is a definite finality to Mass Effect 3, the wealth of plot-based variables are likely to inspire second, third and fourth playthroughs, not just of the latest game but of the entire trilogy. With two fantastic games in one package, this latest re-release of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster is very easy to recommend, with a few caveats. On Switch in particular, X-2 benefits from being suited to both long-play sessions on the TV and short bursts in handheld mode. As you’d expect, the difficulty curve is fairly steep and you’ll be challenged from the start, but thankfully Lies of P never feels mean-spirited and offers a lot of chances to learn along the way. It’s a somewhat linear experience, so you won’t have the chance to explore elsewhere while you build yourself up to face a particularly sticky boss as you would in a title like Elden Ring, but if you explore all the nooks and crannies, you’ll always find yourself equipped with the tools you need to tackle the toughest of bosses. Like how musical theatre uses songs to tell its story, Beatbuddy uses rhythms to instruct its gameplay. It could still be a good game without its music core, but the soundtrack elevates it to be a great one.

While puzzles are almost non-existent, that's fine since the momentum of the adventure isn't interrupted. It's also only an hour long, and at this stage after just one act, it's tough to predict if the subsequent pay-off will be worth the initial investment.

2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil doesn't have the depth of an annual release, lacking the online modes that have made recent FIFA games so enormously popular and featuring slightly simplified gameplay.

From a gameplay perspective, however, NBA 2K14 is the best it's ever been. Visual Concepts has finally nailed the control scheme, and has introduced lots of minor tweaks across the court, from improved visuals and animations to more realistic physics.

It's a game that, I think, is newcomer-friendly and a good starting point if you've ever wanted to give the series or the sim racing genre a go. There will obviously be more to like for car fans, but this also comes across as a polished title that's considerate towards newer players. I've enjoyed the hours I've spent with Forza Motorsport, and I can see myself going back and playing some more.

Overall, the Modern Warfare 3 campaign feels like it might have been rushed in terms of new gameplay developments, as well as narrative payoff, although there is a helluva shock in there for fans. It feels like it needed more time to evolve what's there, which is always going to be hard with a yearly franchise, and perhaps not allowing Modern Warfare the customary two years off for development made it harder. Between breathtaking cinematics, slow-paced exploration and blood-soaked gunfights, Gears 5 manages to scratch several gaming itches all at once, without becoming tedious and raw on the skin.

This game manages to find new ways to thrill, excite, and stomp all over your poor, terrified little heart – which we suppose is great for people who have that sort of kink. Whatever floats your boat, we suppose.

Personally, I was left with mixed feelings – but I should also add that I don't have nostalgia for the original game like so many do, and Rebirth feels like a game specifically designed for fans of the original in the passionate way many of the moments, arcs and locations are depicted and fleshed out here. I enjoyed spending time with the core characters, the world-building is impressive and the soundtrack is truly superb. I had plenty of fun with the battle system as well. However, I found the narrative pacing poor and the open-world elements often tedious. The game is stuffed with minigames yet their quality is inconsistent, and there were late-game segments that I found to be a slog.

Overall, Road to Elysium is more of what makes The Talos Principle 2 great, giving players new fun and challenging puzzles, more lore to uncover and lots of Easter eggs to find, with plenty of creative innovations across its three chapters that make it a worthwhile expansion to the base game.

The Labo Vehicle Kit once again proves what ingenious toy makers Nintendo are while largely improving on its predecessors with a better thought-out game experience packed with additional modes and compatibility to make it viable for extended experimenting and party play. Just like with the motorcycle Toy-Con from the Variety Kit, you'll even be able to use the car Toy-Con with Mario Kart 8, though this update has not gone live at the time of review. The only conundrum left to unbox then is where you're going to store these afterwards.

How everything comes together is a wonderful surprise. Crystal Creations manages to over-achieve and mix up the game in an interesting and engaging way, while also remaining comparatively affordable. Is it our favourite Stuff Pack to date? Very possibly. If it's not, it's close. Between this and Home Chef Hustle, the developers have more than delivered with its recent Stuff Packs, and it goes to show that it doesn't matter how big or small the idea is — as long as it's done well.
