This is another rare game that’s far too good to be trapped on a Nintendo system.

Lego City Undercover nails the best aspects of open world games in its own way, and with the inclusion of Lego building mechanics, it feels enough like its own thing rather than a sanitized version of an existing thing.

Simply put, LEGO City Undercover is a blast to play. It's funny, challenging, and features tons of extra content that'll keep you busy for hours. Sure, it's got a few minor quibbles here and there but it's hard to dwell on them when everything else is so enjoyable.

Ultimately, there are more reasons to praise and play LCU than not, especially for Wii U owners looking for something new and exclusive that doesn't involve a Nintendo icon.

A hugely enjoyable open-world adventure which shouldn't fail to raise a smile. It would be criminal to ignore it.

For the first time since Bionicle Heroes Traveller’s Tales didn’t have to stick to an external license, but could let their fantasy run wild in an open world. The result is a little shallow in terms of mechanics, but makes up for it with bucket loads of humor in the tradition of the early Zucker/Abrahams spoofs.

But for parents and adults, Undercover is a less inviting prospect, even with its satirical undertone. It’s a plastic facsimile of GTA – a game that was hardly humourless to begin with, and one that has already spawned a genre’s worth of more sophisticated rivals and clones.

Its not only the most innovative wii u game so far, its also the best lego game ever. What we have here is an instant classic. It features a memorably funny story with impressive voice acting. The graphics are great considering that this lego game is an open-world experience. The wii u gamepad truly feels like a tool that enhances the experience. If this game actually does end up on the 360 and ps3, it probably won't have the unique features of the gamepad. The point is....GO BUY IT! Expand

The city is huge. Tons of unlockables. Lots of main quests and side quests and missions MUST be replayed to finish the game with completion. This game gives the user lots of jokes and lots of content. I cannot think of anything I don't like about this game. Bought for Wii U originally and bought again on the Switch for the 2 player mode. Not a disappointment. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Fantastic Game! Amazing world, characters, gameplay varieties and music.

This game is hilarious for all ages and entertaining from start to finish. All the characters have great and funny moments, my personal favourite being Officer Dunby who is a mixture of all the stereotypes of a policeman.

The only flaw is the loading times. They can take up to a couple of minutes which slows down the overall game experience. Aside from that, this game is filled with charm and memorable moments.
A must buy on the Wii U

Overall, this is a fantastic game that sets a very high bar for other future LEGO games to follow.

Ive played some of the other games in the franchise and they were really entertaining but Lego City Undercover beats them all. Lego City is pretty much a family friendly version of GTA but honestly I like Lego City way better. This is definitely the best game available for Wii U right now. If you own a Wii U then you should definitely get this game. Expand

This game builds an open world, but then fills it with invisible walls. The gameplay falls into a loop: Drive, puzzle, quick-time event, boss, drive, etc. The driving is dull, puzzles are repetitive, and bosses are simply pointless and dull. There is very little detail, and after 15 hours in the game, you haven't even touched 90% of a map, and there's no reason to explore this area. The unused areas are uninteresting unless you enjoy watching cars driving and people moving. Insane pop-ins and pop-outs, a button-bashing combat system, and overused humor.

I fail to find a redeeming aspect of this game.
