    Look, the game was pretty ok at first. Playing solo felt fine up through the campaign. It already had issues though as I felt less desire to play solo after that point and only really found myself playing the “endgame” (not a helluva lot of content there tbh) with my friends. And then they pulled an oppenheimer and dropped a nuke on their own game. That’s why I’m here, and why everyoneLook, the game was pretty ok at first. Playing solo felt fine up through the campaign. And then they pulled an oppenheimer and dropped a nuke on their own game. That’s why I’m here, and why everyone else is here review bombing the crap outta this game. Because they basically took their game and nerfed the entire thing. Somehow as of their patch 7/18/2023 they managed to just nerf 90% of the fun out of the game. They crushed basically every build, put a single character that was already 6 feet under from nerfs down to 106 feet under, and made basically everything take 3x as long to progress and feel 3x as a hard as it used to be. That’s so far beyond unacceptable and is a direct INSULT to the consumers who bought in to play the game. They don’t seem particularly concerned about bringing most of their nerfs back in line with something that respects their players, and anything they’ve promised to do seems like it’s a good 3-6 months away at minimum. Maybe it’ll be decent to play around Christmas, so if you’re reading this around then find some more fresh reviews than mine but holy hells is it bad here in July. If you excuse me I’ll go play exoprimal now because with as little content as that game currently has I’m having more fun their by a factor of 10 after Blizzards latest fiasco.… Expand

    Despite my better judgement, I bought this as I'm a huge fan of 1-3. This reflects my experience as a level 75 necromancer and a level 25ish in S1. This is going to be long.

    Leveling: Boring and long (I don't care about story in my demon clicking game).

    Endgame: Once you finish the story and hit 50, when you have World III and higher, there's really nothing to do:

    Dungeons are extremely samey; every one of them pulls 2 or 3 events out of a pool of about 6 options, so it's not varied at all. You need special keys to play nightmare (harder) dungeons and those really only drop...in nightmare dungeons. But the ones that drop are your current level or slightly higher, so you have to take them back to a city, salvage them, and craft an actually good key.

    As an aside, the game doesn't tell you about crafting higher dungeon keys until you clear a difficulty 4 dungeon, which was frustrating when first playing, because the first key drop in a nightmare dungeon of difficulty 1, was a key for a difficulty 2 dungeon, so it seemed like progressing to actually challenging higher dungeons was going to take forever, when in reality, as mentioned above, you craft the high keys; it just felt bad to be drip fed vital info like that.

    Your other "endgame" options are: grind the same 5 Whispers wherever they spawn so you can get a box of crap from the Tree of Whispers once in a while, or only be allowed to play at scheduled times for the Helltides.

    The world bosses I've tried were actually very fun fights but the drops were not worth the time.

    Itemization:, it also manages to be bland. Dropped items have power levels that vary *wildly*, I was getting World I quality gear in World IV level 25 hard dungeons, absolute downgrades. Gems are utterly pointless because they give extremely small benefits to extremely specific circumstances.

    There's way too many random rolls on every piece of gear so 99% of the time, if the drop is even a higher ilevel than your current slot, it will be garbage because more than 1 option is bad (you can reroll one stat on an item like in D3).

    Overpower and Lucky Hit stats are unbelievably badly design.

    Some Legendary effects are impossibly rare and can be very good for some builds, but it's not like you can trade with anyone who found an item with it and doesn't want it, so good luck upgrading the slot with that trait unless you get extremely extremely lucky.

    You can't preview items on the ground so you have to pick up and look at every. Single. Drop. To decide if it's worth keeping, and enjoy that since half your inventory is taken up by gems. There's a "consumable" tab for potions but also your non-stacking dungeon keys go in there so you have to choose carrying potions or carrying keys, or be willing to dump keys on the ground if you find one you actually want to keep. There's no damn loot filter, on an ARPG that came out in 2023 and prides itself on the amount of stuff that drops, that's idiotic and shows a completely disregard for the player's enjoyment or time.

    Monsters: Bland. There's a few gems, like ones that charge you and knock you over, and being able to actually dodge hits by watching animations is actually fun, but the rest are boring and don't have the "blow up huge mobs" feel of 2 and 3. Depending on your gear bosses are either damage sponges that take so long you're bored with the fight by the time it's over, or with good gear, as inconsequential as any given normal mob.

    Unless of course it's a normal mob with Extra Health, an absolutely terrible idea because it doesn't make things *harder* or more fun, it makes them take an insanely longer time to kill and it's always worth just leaving the area when they're left and finding something else to kill. The Dodge mechanic (press space to jump towards the cursor) is useful and can make combat fun, but it seems like every boss is designed around saving it and using it for one specific attack that will absolutely blow you up if it connects.

    I keep seeing reviews calling this a new Diablo 2. I don't think these reviewers have played D2 recently if at all. There is no comparison, stop it with the "but its grimdark" crap, D2's graphics popped, D4's graphics    … Expand

    The Devs keeps on killing the game and the fun with new season update. It is pretty sad to work a lot of hours on your character and next day you log in and find that the character is weak.

    I dont really understand how the safest place for the soul stone stone would be with some girl missing an arm, I loved how she left a letter to that guy, but the guy who just saved the world is not in consideration of keeping it safe.     The worst for a player like me is that you have an online community, but there is no way to connect to anyone. Its a small open world that feels repetitive and boring, while you have no real way to connect with others.
    Dont waste your money on this. I probably spent 5k hours in D1-2 but here I am done with 10h.
    Was waiting for the season to drop and what happened is just beyond this comment.

    Been playing Diablo since 1997, I have put in 238 hours into diablo 4 in 43 days. I feel used. This game is obviously after slagging players and tapping your wallet. Terrible inventory, super poor item drop rates. 10000 useless items b4 you find one that's even close to usable. Terribly unbalanced in a lot of ways. I want this game to be better soo badly.     Latest patch destroyed the game, just to funnel people in front of the battlepass and use the malignant hearts. They effectively ruined all the characters that everyone just spent the last 2 months working on. Just to force you to make a seasonal char and buy battlepass

The pros of this game are few. They got back to the gritty, dark, roots! FINALLY! I was so happy to see this. The graphics are good, campaign and characters are decent. You will enjoy the campaign, when you hit 60, game gets super stale. Why would I want to do boring, mundane sidequest over again every season?     I made an account to tell my story about how my fun and time was ripped away by 1 discission THAT has NOTHING to do with this company and its DUMB nerfs. This is my First ever Diablo game ever and i was fairly impressed to the point where I had decided this might actually be my game of the year and sunk hundreds of hours into this game. My favorite part in those hundreds of hours wasI made an account to tell my story about how my fun and time was ripped away by 1 discission THAT has NOTHING to do with this company and its DUMB nerfs. This is my First ever Diablo game ever and i was fairly impressed to the point where I had decided this might actually be my game of the year and sunk hundreds of hours into this game. My favorite part in those hundreds of hours was killing some random person and seeing a small Funny popup in the corner saying I unlocked a title called "Predator" I literally laughed for over 5 minutes looking at all the combinations you could put and created a ENTIRELY new character named Jeffery Epstein where I proudly equipped the title and ran around killing demons. NOW after a few months I have been seeing TONS and TONS of videos how Diablo 4 is dying blah blah blah everyone here reading the reviews knows Exactly why they are here. I'm not one to go over every little detail of every class and every nerf that is introduced but this didn't bug me. I boot up a game and start a brand new character and I name them Bill Cosby this time expecting a brilliant Level 100 character to be putting people to sleep as a sorcerer or whatever I level up my character in this brand new ""SEASONAL WORLD"" looking the EXACT same id say my 30 min I put into leveling Bill Cosby was a complete waste because I didn't see a Damn thing that popped out and said WOW new season Just the same **** That isn't worth my time because the moment I went and hovered to look for Predator it was nowhere to be seen. Then I go huh maybe because its a seasonal thing that would be super awesome if all my hours spent would playing BETA would be put to good use where nobody would be able to acquire predator title anymore. Nope. I log into Jeffery Epstein and His TITLE is replaced with "Enemy". This SOFT company had no one talking about this title and it made it through TESTING to PUT IT IN THE GAME and they go and replace it with some dumb BS exactly what they did with overwatch PVE acting like nobody will notice or it wont affect players. THIS ONE Decision has stopped me from ever spending money on a blizzard title or any time on Diablo ever again. Hopefully yall can read this and agree that blizzard has crossed the line a long time ago but as a casual player having my hard earned time to Jeffery Epstein and Bill Cosby is just a complete heartbreak.… Expand

They are communicating with us more than they have with any other title. They know they messed up with 1.10, and I think they are on the right path now.     Best ARPG for group play. It has a lot of longevity so it's a good buy. It's also super easy to set down and pick back up with seasonal releases

    As a main sorcerer players, these game directors and dev team members since the beginning they nerfed the **** out of this character. I,m a casual player but seeing the difficulty of play they killed the enjoyment out of the game.     They continue to ignore player feedback and refuse to address obvious problems with the game. This game is under-developed, un-polished, and designed to waste your time. The game was released with lack of content, so they nerfed everything to the ground slowing player progression and then expect everyone to believe that wasn't the intention. We aren't the cash cow idiots you think we are.

    Unfortunately blizzard has ruined this game with ridiculous nerfs and game changes, they nerfed sorcerer which was already the weakest class in game and now it’s simply login screen fodder. They could have left the game the way it was a week ago and just done some bug fixes and released season 1 but nope they literally nuked their own game. Spend your money elsewhere.

I am a full time employee, spent most of my day offs leveling, farming and minmaxing my character. I turned down plans, turned down friends, stayed home to play. Waiting for my next day off, only to be b*tch slapped upon playing right after theLol, what a b*tch of a game this was.     The Dev team nerfed all the builds and defenses on the eternal realm by 50%. Players spent hundreds of hours on these characters only to to force players to the season realm so they spend money on a battle pass.

All the feedbacks from customers were ignored, the class that actually need help were nerfed to the ground. Developers were so out of touch with the game to the point of incompetent, too lazy of playing the actual game to know the exact problem.

    Clearly the too many people don't understand seasonal play. Diablo has always been a grind, if you can't handle it don't play. Season 1 feels great so far, gameplay is amazing.

    Blizzard is completely out of touch with their own game. The most recent patch makes the game less fun. They don’t understand the mechanics of the game, resistances don’t work, Sorcerers are completely unplayable after the patch and were handicapped before it. The itemization is terrible, the aspects and affixes are convoluted and not fun.

The patch nerfed damage, added health to mosters, nerfed horse riding speed (due to cool down reduction), added almost twice the time it takes to leave a dungeon (why you ask, no one knows. Maybe the Devs really just hate the players and want us to stop playing) added more

    I have played games since I was a small child (33), played WoW, Runescape (first time it came out), *name drop other grind-loot game. So I am not opposed to a long grind, (92 is middle for OSRS of a skill that goes to 99) but it has to have some benefit, you unlock something that makes your character/account better.     Head of Balancing: Well, I think so? We buried her.
    Head of Development: But she still has quite a lot of followers! Take care of it!
    Head of Balancing: Okay, we'll dig her up again, and burn everything thats left! Just to be sure!

    Either the developers are completely oblivious to their own game mechanics or it's a deliberate action to slow down players and generate longer playtime per player to improve the statistics (KPI). Instead of finally creating decent endgame content, they simply stretch the path to the endgame indefinitely, so the lack of content isn't noticed as quickly.    … Expand

    The newest patch has made Diablo 4 unplayable. The creative team keeps taking player fun away and makes it harder and harder to enjoy the game. It's obvious the team is being puppeted by studio heads that have no clue what they are doing and are intentionally trying to damped player enjoyment to prioritize stats for execs. Pass on this game and wait for balders gate 3.

    There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV — best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.

    The visuals are probably what excited me the most. The way the game looks and the atmosphere makes me feel like I'm playing the old Diablo again. On steroids and on a quadruple screen TV, but the feeling is still there. [Issue#328]
