Instead of the best Diablo game, I pre-ordered the most boring one. No great items, no fun gameplay, no interesting progression, no reason to experiment with builds, just pretty graphics

Blizzard don`t listen to the community. The new patch is definitely a downgrade. Most of the changes are pretty bad and the game is not enjoyable anymore.

One of the biggest disappointments in gaming history. Simply it’s just a 40-50 hours of fun, nothing else. This might be a good rpg but this is not Diablo. Blizzard must consider feedback from players, not simply try to boost playing time with nerfing everything, even increasing loading screen time.

1.1 was a historically bad patch that deleted the fun from the game in one fell swoop. Absurd, anti-player move take a fun game and make all the classes less impactful, the gameplay loop grindier, and kill nay motivation anyone had to play.

I can live with bad patches, hey it's your game. But the service itself is quite bad, lags, rubberbanding in town and endless queues are things that do not work out for a game that is basically a single player one. Was looking forward to play season 1 today, 1 hour queue....

Promising game at the start but devs quickly proven to be incompetent and inept. The management use scummy and predatory moves such as nerfing exp and making gameplay much slower to squeeze out game time from playet base. I HIGHLY recommend people to give it no more than zero

Not since the Star Wars Galaxies combat update or NGE release has a patch been so unanimously hated. 1.11 Season 1 should be renamed to Season of the Moribund. Long loading times, insane lag of season launch day, it is like they have learnt a thing since launch!

Game was incredibly promising at launch with a gripping story. As someone who isn't involved in game development, I don't fully grasp the inner workings of the Blizzard offices. I assume there are teams, separate from the developers, that pay attention to player feedback and balance the game accordingly. There should also be a team responsible for ensuring that the changes in each patch align with what the community needs, addressing necessary nerfs without going overboard.

They must have been aware of the potential issues that would arise, right? They should have anticipated this situation. So, the only conclusion I can draw is that they intentionally wanted to start fresh. Perhaps they want us to spend more time grinding during the upcoming season, aiming to maximize player retention, whether by choice or by the force of Blizzard's actions.

Blizzard must have gathered a significant amount of data on the time it took players to reach level 100. However, it appears they focused on streamers rather than the average players who worked hard to reach level 56 and were content with their progress. They used this knowledge to ensure such progress doesn't happen in Season 1, resulting in across-the-board nerfs.

It also seems likely that they assume we will forget about these issues when creating our seasonal characters. While this may be true for many players, there will be legitimate quits due to this debacle. Blizzard seems to welcome both outcomes, wanting players to forget about their previous strength.

Numerous posts have referred to this as Public Beta 1.1, and that analogy couldn't be more accurate. Blizzard likely couldn't risk giving full game access to actual beta testers, as they would have torn it apart and damaged its ratings. So instead, we got a glimpse—a necessary risk because the game was rushed. Even if it wasn't rushed, they would never have known how the game would truly fare once released to the masses. Now, having learned from this experience, we're facing the mega-nerf.

This mega-nerf establishes a new baseline, and I highly doubt they will repeat such a drastic move. At this moment, I share the frustration and disappointment felt by everyone else. I'm not here to make excuses. I simply want to express my frustrations, seek understanding, learn from past experiences with this studio, and hope for improvement in the game. I also wish for every individual involved in this decision to have recurring nightmares until the game becomes stable and players are satisfied. This situation is truly disappointing, and my faith in Blizzard has been shaken.

As Ron has shown with the Gears games he cannot maintain a positive run on a game and this shows again with Diablo 4... with the 7/18/23 update coming out its safe to say that fans weren't apart of the discussion for how to improve the game and the only thoughts of fans were how can we take away the fun, the xp and the coop experience, aspect nerfing. The entire update around 7/18 was simply to destroy all the different areas that allows a player to have fun and enjoy their time. You think adding a hanful of new, yet awful, items and some cosmetics will loosen our pursestrings? Have fun suckling the last bit of milk out of the average idiot's teat as you continue your malpractices.
Even after all these years I'm appalled at how you people make the dumbest decisions. First you thought implementing automated matchmaking in d2r instead of familiarised lobbies was a great idea and now this? I'll tell you, your studio truly has a knack for ruining things that started out well. Choke on it, you dimwitted c***s. Last time I will be buying one of your cursed products.

By the way your ladder launch is a f***ing joke. Login queues are laughable at best and when you manage to invoke the patience to somehow get in, the game crashes during every loading screen. I'd rather be trapped in a blizzard than play your steaming pile of s*** games any longer.

10 years of development time and Blizzard manages to release a game that is completely undercooked. Extremely buggy, unadressed VRAM leaks, a very poor UI, no endgame, limited character customization, and a season 1 patch that is honestly horrible as it nerfs everything with no compensation in terms of player power or rewards. A baffling failure overall. I have had no issue putting this game down.

Solo Campaign was fun but everything after it is pure trash. Blizzard just wants you to spend as much time as possible in this game but gives no reason why you should do it. Terrible drop rate of things compared to the previous parts. Boring, repetitive dungeons, with a lot of backtracking again and again and again and boring end game activities (3 actually) and forced multiplayer that doesn't work

PVP just broken and is not working like - at all, seriously.

All online activity in the game is to gather in 10 players togeher a couple of times a day and kill the world boss - after which all players again disperse to farm mobs alone or in a pair with a friend - no more.

And for some reason, a lot of different mechanics that already existed in d2 and d3 were not implemented - because of this, the game feels poor - no legendary potions, no runes, no class rifts, no different types of goblins - it is extremely strange why the experience of previous games was ignored in 4th part

If you get it at a discount it's ok. For the full price, I would not recommend.

LOL, updated to zero after 1.0.1 patch

Blizzard managers are clearly increasing the time that is tedious to spend on the game, so that the battle pass probably does not close too quickly

    Screw them =)

There are 120 dungeons, but those dungeons come from half a dozen tilemaps and repeat the same half dozen bosses meaning there are really only 6 or so dungeons. Leveling takes absolute years, which would be okay if the game was fun or loot exciting, but I had the ancestrals I wanted more or less at level 72, meaning there was nothing to search for besides so called "uber uniques" which are mostly stat sticks which hardly change the game the way they were advertised. The nightmare sigil system suffers from the same terrible inventory management as the gems. Towns are beautiful but clunky, mounts are clunky and unreliable, abilities feel great, but you don't change your play pattern at all after level 30 or so, meaning you are pushing the same 5 buttons in the same order for hundreds of hours if you want to hit max level, and there is nothing you can even hope might drop along the way. World bosses are paper thin at high levels, and also boring as a result. A disaster of an ARPG and a nail in the coffin for this dying, once-hero of the game world. Expand

As a sorcerer, this new patch made me stay away and give this game a rest. Im no longer interested with what theyre doing to the game. It is no longer fun. I dont have time to grind. My damage has been low let alone my defensives could barely keep my 2 legs up. This is a massive screw up!

End-game balance was mediocre at best, then the devs made it abysmal. It made me feel bad that my money and progress is now a waste. All for an effort to make the top 0.01% people play more, but of course the rest of us will feel bad to spend another thousand hour to maybe get somewhere. Lack of meaningful reward is just lazy game design.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Why would you let tons of players progress a character and spend hundreds of hours playing just to nerf their characters and make them weaker…basically making it so all the effort they put in was meaningless. So many aspects in this game are unbalanced im hoping good changes come but not sure I have to the desire yo continue after the latest patch. Sorcs really suck at the moment and you can’t really play a variety of builds if you want to be good. Paragon system is pretty horrible as well and could have been done way better. Expand

The endgame is non existent, after you finish the campaign there's nothing else to do than to grind the same dungeons over and over and over again and the same events until you get to level 100. all the time investment that you put on your main character is worthless as every season requires you to start all over again with a new character (in my opinion this is the most stupid idea ever for a game of this kind), unique items feel worthless and not unique, itemization is awful and the last patch was the last nail in the coffin.

You're game is rated Mature its a young adult. Here you are still trying to control it, make it no fun. Before everyone was enjoying hanging out and chilling with Diablo 4. BLIZZARD YOU ARE THE WORST, You need to understand we know its your game. We know you made it, but you're not the fan base, you're not the people buying this to have fun. You're fans are not happy, trust on this.. It's all I see people upset because you nerfed small aspects of peoples builds that made huge impacts!
**** i can't even play my Druid companion build anymore because every time I use my wolfs primary attack they end up floating above me while I get destroyed. Or my necromancer who wasn't the toughest but could always pull through, now just gets obliterated. Level capping Tier 4? Why not just make Tier 5? Diablo 3 sucked assssss but you could atleast play 16 different torment levels and it made sense.  You guys even made Gems useless...seriously..
This game was good it truly was in the beta, I thought ok this is pretty sick. Then you guys did what you do best, which is well? Ruining something fun simply because you can. I am logging out and never buying or playing another Blizzard game...
Ive played since Diablo...that game was good...
Seriously quit being babies and fix things that need fixed like maping bugs, or dungeon elite spawn rates, or issues with aspects, or make weapon spawns that work for peoples builds not **** only werebear/werewolf stats for a druid whose never used either. I'll say it one more time, stop ruining and taking away other people's fun, give them what they want and deserve. Listen to us, make more money off us duhhhhh...Most of our lives suck right now and games like Diablo 4 let us get away from our lives for a bit...no ones wants to get away to something this fixed for failure. However, one of my best friends recommended it & wanting a way to reconnect with him I bought it. To my surprise, it was really fun. Sure, there was grinding, but there were enough rewards comparable to the time spent. I was surprised to comprehend the skill tree as much as I did, and I found pleasure in designing a unique build & getting the best equipment for it. Then the patch came out. Here’s my assessment: if the goal was to balance the game, they should have added benefits or increased the effectiveness of lesser-used builds. Instead, they decided to level the playing field out by making everyone equally weak. At the same time, I assume bc a few people who have the privilege to play games around the clock complained they finished the game quickly, the developers decided not to put in new, fun content, but instead, thru increased in-game costs, severely lowered drops, and decimated XP, they made the game a slower grind with rare, momentary blips of enjoyment. They made the game more of a time-suck. Literally, they extended the time it takes to leave a dungeon upon completion. My character became essentially null & void. I thought I could somewhat easily change my build & get new equipment, but in addition to not reducing the MASSIVE cost associated with making new gear, now I had a weaker character who took far longer to kill enemies, those enemies dropped far less loot (all of it still random, so the chances of getting what I needed were even lower) the price of opening certain chests was increased at the same time the currency to open it was reduced, and I now gained a fraction of the experience.
I am so frustrated with this game for drawing me in only to turn around and change tone entirely. I haven’t touched the game at all like I had pre-patch. It feels like a chore or like homework now. That’s not why I play games.

They balance a game around a system called seasons to make themselves look good, but intentionally disregard the eternal realm players where those players get these said nerfs and nothing to supplement their losses. Season players in this season 1 get "malignant hearts" which adjusts a lot of the losses from the "nerfs" in this recent patch.

The biggest offender of all. Their leading developer Rod Ferguson says extremely inappropriate nonsense that is very unprofessional in these "developer talks" or campfire chats talking about his actual rectum and colon which not a single person asked about. Rod is the lead person for this game. He is a failure of a leader and he needs to be fired... not promoted elsewhere... he needs to be fired. Lack of Endgame Content:

This lack of content undermines the game's longevity and leaves players feeling unfulfilled

This lack of content undermines the game's longevity and leaves players feeling unfulfilled after investing so much time.

    Server Issues and Bugs:
Despite being a highly anticipated release, Diablo 4 has suffered from persistent server issues and numerous bugs. This has resulted in frustrating gameplay experiences, frequent disconnections, and loss of progress. The lack of a smooth and stable online infrastructure takes away from the multiplayer aspect, which is an integral part of the Diablo experience.

    Skill and Talent System Overhaul:
The drastic overhaul of the skill and talent system in Diablo 4 has been a subject of heated debate among fans. While the intention may have been to introduce more variety and depth, many players feel that it has led to a lack of customization and a watering down of character development. The new system fails to provide the sense of uniqueness that players had grown accustomed to in previous Diablo titles.

Builds for each class all have a majority of slots taken by the same few skills leaving 1 or 2 slots free.

Game balance is awful some classes have multiple viable builds where others have none.

    - No mount changes at all

    - Powerleveling just got gutted so now you can't even boost characters anymore

    - World Tier 2 got a slight gold buff and item buff, 0 XP buffs which was the main issue

    - Level scaling on monsters puts them a few levels lower so XP has gone down AGAIN

    - Channel time for leave dungeon is 5 seconds instead of 3, why? Why add more time waste? Such a weird unnecessary change, I haven't seen this brought up once

    - No roadblock changes

    - Helltide Mystery chest cost increased from 175 to 250, why? Why is this necessary?

    - Hamstring only slows healthy enemies? Why?

    - " There is no longer a limit to how many materials you can refine into higher materials at once. " WHY WAS THIS EVEN IN THE GAME? They literally made bad changes just to revert them back and say "we're making progress"

    - Main stats nerfed on weapons by half

    - CDR nerfed on all gear

    - All Crit damage nerfed by 17%

    - All vulnerable damage reduced by 40%

    - Damage to CCed enemies reduced by 30%

The fact is, people are getting bored. This is an ACTION RPG with slow paced action. It's a LOOT hunter with boring loot. This is an MMO with no social aspects. A dungeon crawler that feels more like a game of fetch the stones and put them on the pedestals.

Developers don’t care about the players. Not willing to take feedback an improve where need. Early game is quite good but end game and patches have killed it.

There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV — best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.

The visuals are probably what excited me the most. The way the game looks and the atmosphere makes me feel like I'm playing the old Diablo again. On steroids and on a quadruple screen TV, but the feeling is still there. [Issue#328]

Diablo is back, and taking no prisoners. The top-quality, lengthy campaign will be enough for some, while the endgame should prove a welcome obsession for others. [Issue#30, p.84]
