    I'm not sure why, but this game is addicting. I do think that there is room to improve some of the core mechanics here (damage bucket system, itemization), BUT blizzard got the MOST important aspect right - its damn FUN to play. Aa classic blizzard fan who loved D2, hated D3 and have played numerous games and genres - this version of Diablo WILL be a great success. I can't    10/10.

    Aa classic blizzard fan who loved D2, hated D3 and have played numerous games and genres - this version of Diablo WILL be a great success. I can't exactly put my finger on why the game is so much fun, but if you start playing it you just won't want to stop.

    A) You definitely feel like a badass who runs around the world crushing demons left and right.
    B) Campaign is well done. Great cutscenes, easy for you to railroad at your own discretion, very thematically "diablo".
    C) The power progression is well done. Starts out simple, and layers on complexity so help a new player slowly figure out how the core mechanics work (skills, then enhancements, then aspects, then paragon powers)
    C) Lots of fun theorizing new builds and reasonably easy way to respect your character to test them
    D) Large open world that I enjoyed exploring.    … Expand

    I acquisitioned the game and it's absolutely good, good dark atmosphere, very good graphics (better than what I've seen from Poe2 showcase so far), campaign story is good, a lot of content to do, and you never get bored, builds are satisfying to work with and if you know what to do you'll have a good time. They made only 2 CGI cinematics (Intro & Inarius vs Lilith), in the past blizzardI acquisitioned the game and it's absolutely good, good dark atmosphere, very good graphics (better than what I've seen from Poe2 showcase so far), campaign story is good, a lot of content to do, and you never get bored, builds are satisfying to work with and if you know what to do you'll have a good time. They made only 2 CGI cinematics (Intro & Inarius vs Lilith), in the past blizzard used to make at least 4 per game, wish they would make more. I'd give it a 8/10 but since a lot of people downvotes it unjust I'll give it a 10 (people are upset for scaling/itemization/or they simply don't know how to diverse their builds or how to play it). Many of the things are improved weekly, the game is constantly handled well by blizzard so far, wish they would have made the same good job with Warcraft 3 Reforge and not outsource it.… Expand

    All abilities and clases feel great. You can clearly understand when you are in endgame and when your character scales. About 400 hrs of content for the average player. Lots of gun, cant wait for season to try out new clases

    very good artwork the graphics are nice to look at with some little problems but nothing too bad to cry about.     The game has great combat moments and a lot of friendly community momments.
    Don't believe people saying that the game is like a Diablo immortal 2 because i believe they didn't even played the game for more than 2 hours.

    For people that are worried about the 3 days of early acces of the game that people bought, just to let you know that people will mostly play in the 1st season for everybody will be at the same lvl at the end.
    Don't get fooled by the predatory monetizing, just some haters that think the game have microtransactions everywhere, only skins. which are just an image to you.

    This is a fantastic game day one. I have about 100 hours in already, and I plan on making this my "home" game for the foreseeable future.

    Pros: - Open World: Lots of things to do in an open world field. Quests, World Events, Strongholds, Dungeons, etc. - Impressive Endgame: For a game that just launched it already has a lot to keep you busy after the campaign. Tree of Whispers    This is a fantastic game day one. I have about 100 hours in already, and I plan on making this my "home" game for the foreseeable future.

    Pros:
    - Open World: Lots of things to do in an open world field. Quests, World Events, Strongholds, Dungeons, etc.
    - Impressive Endgame: For a game that just launched it already has a lot to keep you busy after the campaign. Tree of Whispers (bounties), Fields of Hatred (PvP), Helltides (Random challenging areas that appear for a limited time), World Bosses, and Nightmare Dungeons.
    - Story Campaign: This not only has the best Diablo story, I would say it's one of the best video game stories I've played through in a long time. The whole thing is very morally grey, that makes you wonder where you stand. It's not just black and white like a lot of other fantasy type of games.
    - Combat: The combat is super fun, with a crazy amount of different builds and styles to try out. The way weapon and armor aspects can further change up the builds in significant ways always always keeps me interested and thinking of new possibilities.
    - The Future: The already plan to introduce new seasonal content ever three months to help keep the game fresh and interesting with the first one happening in late July.

    Cons:
    - Still some stabilities issues they need to work out. I get disconnected once or twice a day on my PS5.
    - Mounts need to be addressed for smoother riding. It's easy to get stuck running into a little hill for example.
    -Boss variety needs to be upped. I'm fine with the dungeons being the way they are, but encountering the same boss in several different dungeons is disappointing. Making each one unique would also give each dungeon its own distinction. Heck, even changing the colors and names would be better than nothing.

    Despite my cons I still give this a 10. Not because it's perfect but because it's exceed my expectations and has a promising future. Not to mention a less buggy experience than a lot of other games recently (Redfall for example.) A lot of the low reviews are saying things that are just factually not true. It's not pay to win, you can trade in the game, etc. All in all, a great to start to a great game.    … Expand

    Perfect ARPG without the extreme complexity of a spreadsheet ARPG. Few things need to be balanced/fixed but they are minor issues.

    Complaints about monetization are overblown hard, you have the foundation for hundreds if not over a 1000 hours laid out for box price without any microtransactions needed.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Giving a 10 to balance the dishonest 1 and 2 ratings all over here. Real ranking would be around 9. I've played around 50 hours already, have a level 53 solo Necro that I built completely blind and is making for a very fun experience in world tier 3. Character feels extremely powerful and the payoff for optimizing gear reasonable without full on min/maxing, I can see a major difference when I get better gear. Level scaling does not prevent feeling powerful as many complain, I know this is the case because I am using a total off meta minion/shadow build and still blow through content. Story was great, there's always plenty to do and the people complaining about build diversity are just mad that the meta builds are particularly good rather than playing the game for fun. It's a beautiful world, the cosmetics and item power you get just for playing the game are satisfying and will work toward your build. Overall a very well made world with plenty to do for a somewhat casual player. Excited to see what updates and expansions will bring to the game.… Expand

    Story : 9/10 Sound Design : 10/10 Graphics : 10/10 Price : I have put 100 + hours into the game since release so 70$ is somewhat ok. Gameplay is one of the best I have experienced in a while. I don't remember playing a game that keeps me glued to the screen this much since maybe the original Modern Warfare 2. Playing 4-5 hours a day leaves me with a feeling    My GOTY until now.

    All 5 classes are pretty useable in end game.
    My clan has variety of classes most being lvl 80+ pushing endgame nightmares 40+ and everyone seems to be doing ok. You might have to respec your class for endgame , so the game does require some balancing but for now its not an issue.

    I doubt people review bombing the game put a single hour into the game.    … Expand

    Diablo 4 is a great foundation for what could become the best Diablo game yet. It slows the pace a bit back from the arcade-like feel of Diablo 3 and has, in my opinion, the most compelling story of the games I have played thus far. The leveling experience is great and I have thoroughly enjoyed the transition to mid game, even if balancing has some room to improve. The soundtrack and visuals are phenomenal, combat feels chunky and visceral and I do find that the game plays best with a group of at least 2 friends. That said it's absolutely playable solo, even if I think it's a better co-op experience. There is a wide variety of content to engage with early on, and I personally find the nightmare dungeons can provide a fine tuned challenge to your liking, if you don't want to go too crazy you can keep it sort of easy, which is a nice option. I also like that itemization has gone a little towards Diablo 2, with extra ranks to skills and less traditional stat bonuses, though I do feel like some of these bonuses need to have more value added to them and be explained more clearly.

    Now for the negative, as of right now the legendary abilities can feel pretty shallow compared to Diablo 3, although early on it experienced a similar issue. Endgame content is kind of alot of min-maxing your gear, which is a staple of this style of game but if you don't like that, you still probably won't. And there are some quality of life improvements the game could use but are by no means so negative they warrant reviews of 1 or 2. Online connectivity has been mostly good, especially for a recent launch, but if you have limited time, it could be a spot of contention.

    All in all, I give Diablo 4 an 8 out of 10, it's a good foundation and depending on how it develops it could easily be a 10/10 experience down the line, but this is blizzard we're talking about.    … Expand

    Really having fun to the extend that I can't wait until I play some more. It is casual and at the same time very grindy and time consuming (if you want to). Good job to the devs and the team, just hope they keep it up with upcoming expansions and seasons etc

I'm playing it every day since the early-access, and I'll keep playing it until I've tried all classes and get to at least level 50 with each, so I can see which fits my playstyle the most.

    Overall, great game, smooth gameplay, amazing sound effects, good atmosphere and    Diablo IV is a masterpiece.     This game is fantastic. It's easily 10/10 for me. I love the complexity and fluidity of figuring out builds that work better than others. I love that the dark theme of Diablo has once again reared its head for players to fight back. Gameplay is designed for more interaction so you're not just zooming around hitting one button everywhere. It's way more engaging than previous titles and other ARPGs.     I like it very much! After d3 i was skeptical! But they nailed it for me! I love the dark horror theme! Gamepkay easy one of the best I played compared to other Hack and slash RPg! Story is proffesional and cool! Much still to come!

    I agree with lots of developers design decisions, especially how they approached level scaling and itemization as all regions are now relevant even in endgame. The game now requires combination of skill and some amount of planning in terms of character tweaking. There might be situations while fighting, where you need to revaluate approach or tactically retreat but that keeps combat interesting. I really like the fact that there is some resistance and monsters are not simply bending to you.
    You still make gains and there are ways to make your character powerful, so you can have your power fantasy, but things can kill you if not careful, which is so much better and that is how game should be: A bit challenging.

    Story is really good and satisfying and got me into Sanctuary lore again. It was quite ride with lots of cool moments. Much darker than D3, which I like but I would not say that atmosphere is as dark and heavy as it was in D1 and D2 (not sure if it is good or bad, but I think I would welcome something even more darker).
    Characters not as black and white as you would expect, but protagonist seems to be spared from dichotomy of good and evil and is quite one dimensional. Maybe in next iterations hero choices and impact on the events could be explored?
    Cinematics were masterpiece.

    Technically, game is fantastic. Graphic, animations, sound, gameplay, various systems. All is exceptionally well made. So much detail in there. You start to appreciate little things like busy towns, little tasks that npc do (skinning animals, fixing something, speaking, while surrounded by crowd, crows flying away as player approaches etc). Each town feels unique. You just want to be in this world and interact with it (eg. clicking on pile of stones to get the materials and to hear the sound and animation feels a little like first moment in D1 after killing first skeleton)

    Modern accessibility options: It is nice knowing that someone cares.

    There is some critique I would have: Lots of dungeons feel similar because of the same tasks/bosses that need to be done. I hope it can be improved over time, would be nice to have some variety so redesigning dungeons and adding new bosses would be welcomed.

    Option to hide whole HUD. I am not sure if I missed this but I do not think it is in the game (correct me if I am wrong). Please add this. Sometimes I like to just log in to enjoy the towns, surroundings and art.

    Overall, Blizzard did outstanding job here. I am so satisfied that I got my younger brother into the series again and I am trying to get my little brother into it as well so all three of us can experience the franchise like in 1997.    … Expand

It's worth the price because you'll be playing it for a long time. By the date of this review, 28th June of 2023 there is no better game yet.     Best Diablo ever, excelent jugability, graphics, music (espectacular), lore and quests. Obviously have some bugs, remember D4 has just some weeks in the market... but the team behind (thousands of people) its very capable, the game have a strong potential. Waiting for Season 1, expansions and DLC =) 150h played atm

    Such a fun game. Not really sure what the negative reviews are complaining about. The graphics are most definitely not a downgrade. The micro transactions are completely ignorable. Why care what your armor looks like from 30 ft above?

    Long time player of Diablo 2 and Diablo 2 Resurrected. Although the trade market is a bit hampered by class specific drops, the play style is awesome and continuing to grow with seasons. Excited to see where this game goes!

    Very fun game, very well balanced, the last update 1.1 brought better balance and is more fair for all players. Cleaning up users abusing game exploits, rush dungeon or piggybacking. The part of the community that is angry are players who want to have maximum damage, never die to the point of being god mode from day 1. The game now implements more challenging gameplay and that is always welcome.

    This is, hands down, the best game ever! The classes are novel and unparalleled, and the loot system is fantastic. Everyone should buy this game, along with the Battle Pass - it is such a deal at $19.99. The developers worked so hard on this, and I am so proud of them.     Devs do not care about the players. They decide to nerf anything fun, and not change ANYTHING the community actually wanted changes. Simple things like more stash space.     I did not buy this Game because I know it will be a dissapointmant. And it did indeed dissapoint. I am still giving it a perfect score because ever idiot buying it did indeed deserve getting a **** game for still supporting Blizzard.

    Awesome game. Great visuals, engaging gameplay and lots of content to keep you busy. I have only ran into 1 bug, the quest furys fate. Launch was super smooth especially considering its a AAA game with a ginormous player base. Can't recommend enough!! 10/10 would purchase again!

    This game is great, I beat the same campaign 3 times in a row then I just endlessly run the same 3 boss fights non stop over and over and over again.

    Wait thats Diablo 2. This is WAY better.

    When the games gets stale start a new Character like the game intended.
    This title is not an MMO where you play one character until you change games.
    I think most reviewers will agree that this games is not about the end game, Don't be in a rush.

Diablo is a long term game, learn, change, adapt learn etc. If this is to hard for uninstall the game and leave it to the people who love Diablo for what it is. Loads of bugs have been fixed and the devs have released a roadmap of things to come which the community have been asking for.     Diablo 3 had rebirth. This allowed you to keep the same character. But resetting it to level 0 and starting the season. Redesigning a new character every time a season starts isn't interesting to me. What after 20 season I'll have 20 characters? I only want to manage 5 characters, one of each class.

    This is the first Diablo title I’ve played and I’ve loved it. The latest patch was a bit disheartening but I love how responsive the devs are to feedback and how transparent they have been with their plans. They seem to really care about the community!!

    This is actually a good game. Seasons will change and people will get mad but the critic reviews don't lie. It's still a fantastic game that the majority of people who have probably rated this game low have sunk 100s of hours into in the first 2 months.

    While the game had some launch issues, and I still am not ok with Blizzard and it's prices / decisions, I can't vote because of that, because I enjoyed the game, so I don't believe a bad rating would solve anything, even if the servers couldn't keep up at launch because of the mass log in, which was to be expected.
    Anyway, great game, love the story, can't wait to see what they do in the future.

    I believe Diablo IV has to potential to become a masterpiece. The classes and their abilities truely feel amazing and RP. The campaign is by far the best across all games of this genre. It actually makes me want to sit, relax and enjoy it instead of skipping like every other ones. The leveling experience could be improved on some classes but overall feels great and rewarding.     The game had an absolute amazing launch. Unfortunatly, it still has some issues and the most recent patch made a lot of the community feel like the devs were out of touch. I partly felt this way too but after seeing how fast they are pushing out content and how well feedback is listened to and influcences their design decisions is giving me more than hope.

    I really dislike the review bombing that some people are doing. Giving a game a 0/10 is just plain unfair.

    1 - "Predatory monetization tactics" - None...ZERO...of the things you can purchase in game with real money give you more of the game, or an advantage in the game, they are purely cosmetic.

    2 - "There's no endgame" - Diablo 2, the most coveted in the series, LITERALLY has no end game. Meanwhile D4 gives us helltides, nightmare dungeons, world bosses and legion events. There's always something to do.

    3 - "Patch 1.1.0 broke the game" - No it didn't. This is the greatest example of hyperbole I've ever seen in gaming. The majority of people who complained about the patch, did so without ever playing the first season.

    4 - "The game goes nowhere" - first time playing an ARPG? You kill, loot, level, repeat. It's like someone complaining in Gran Turismo that all you do is race...

    5 - "They took everything good about 3 and threw it away" - You complained the story wasn't dark enough, they made it darker. You complained it wasn't hard enough, they upped the challenge. You companied there wasn't enough community, they made live events.

    Some people will never be happy. And what's worse, some just live to be angry when they cannot grasp that someone is having a good time that they don't get.

    D4 is in it's infancy, and will only get better over time.    … Expand

    After a quick patch everything seems to be expected, been playing with Sorcerer and immensely enjoying it. There are still some issues with inventory management, but except for that, I enjoy playing it.

    My wife and I only play about 45 minutes per day during the week and a few hours Saturday and Sunday. I love that we can both do dungeons together and not need a bigger group. She is having a blast and it's fun playing with her. Thanks Blizz for the memories!

    The game has its flaws but it was honestly perfectly fine for me. I'm typically too busy to play for hours each day, so I didn't really experience the issues some of the others players seem to be having. It's Diablo. I love it. What can I say.

The edge lord content keeps you awake in otherwise mindless repetition and offline theorycrafting. Same effect as vermintide. Its really well balanced as well, feels better than modern tv shows that do the same for my tender brain anyway.

    Even the upcoming seasonal battle pass.. is loaded with.. cosmetics! and it seems like most of will be possible just by participation rewards.

    So.. i don't doubt the other scores, but if you land somewhere in the middle to high end of casual.. its like they made the game for us. I wouldn't bother if i didn't think of myself as a gamer causal, or an arpg nolifer, i don't think either demographics are getting served to the high price of entry.    … Expand

All the zeros seem to be mostly from folks that don’t like changes to their specific class or are grinding out late game. Can’t speak to late game, but from 1-50 the leveling experience in Season 1 has been a lot of fun.     I don’t understand why its score bombed so much. Is this game fun - yes. Is it the best - no, PoE is still much better. Anyway I am having good time now in season one, but probably after I will reach world tier 4 I will play a few hours and quit. It is not endless game for me, but still you can sink over 100 hours with fun, and it means it is worth the price.

    They’ve done well with the cone tent out of the box for a game of this scope. Plenty of room to grow and expand but I love their vision for the game and expect it to keep getting better. Also, clearly the blizzard hate is strong with all the review bombing.

    I have to admit I was very hesitant about this game after Blizzards terrible recent track record of mediocre or right out terrible releases.
    But the game is good. Very good even. It is a very well thought-out blend between D2 and D3.
    The skill system is back, as is the paragorn board. There is a cap on Skills however, 58 skill points "only" and only 6 active skill slots. As a D2 player,    I have to admit I was very hesitant about this game after Blizzards terrible recent track record of mediocre or right out terrible releases.
    But the game is good. Very good even. It is a very well thought-out blend between D2 and D3.

As a D2 player, this sounds limiting, but then again we had mostly 1 or 2 beefed up skills in D2 we used solely all the time to level 99, so in that regard D4 actually improves on with limited, but sensible choice.

    The paragorn board just reinforces the above, where you can further define your build with sensible stat improvements while also having to decide which capstones you want to go for. This together with full respec options allows for a very well thought out character progression system that encourages thinking through your build while allowing constant small or big adjustments.

    The item system is great as always, although in the beginning the affixes felt a bit too samey. But the imprint/aspect system, where you can create your own legendaries with stats that are useful for your chosen skillset is right out fantastic while not trivializing finding new items.

    The shared world sounded very problematic to me - but it wasn't. As a complete solo player I have to admit that it felt very fresh and cool seeing other randos appearing, sometimes helping, and going along again afterwards. It made the world feel full and lively. Respawning monsters are a bit weird but understandble for such a system and overall this added a lot of fun to the experience.
    Downside though is that it means no mods, ever. Which sucks balls but was unfortunately expected.

    On the other hand I have to compliment Blizzard for how polished the release actually is. Very few bugs, none gamebreaking for me and the QoL features, the game design, the story and the progression all feel very well thought out and complete.
    If you like looters and can forgive some less complex mechanics like Path offers, then D4 is very likely appealing to you. I played it now since the 2nd (early access) and I regretted none of the hours in it at all. And my Necro (what else?) already is level 60, so there's that. Despite having to work most of the day :')    … Expand

    They listen to feedback, make some mistakes, are aware of those, and seem to constantly care about improving the game... That aside the game is fun and I have played 100s of hours already.

    Changed my mind after completing the game. Awesome! Good job blizz. Hope there will be no aggressive donate. The story is pretty good. Especially in comparison with past games. The paragon system is so much better and so exciting. Resources, economics all good. D3 has so many promblems at the start. And they did almost all things right this time.     There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV — best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.

    The visuals are probably what excited me the most. The way the game looks and the atmosphere makes me feel like I'm playing the old Diablo again. On steroids and on a quadruple screen TV, but the feeling is still there. [Issue#328]
