Despite finding Declan's necklace on some railway tracks, they are on the verge of giving up when Rebecca's calls manage to rouse Declan, who had fallen asleep only metres from the tracks.
He is rushed to hospital, however Declan's only concern is Bridget's condition.
When doctors perform routine tests on Bridget, they discover that her left hand side is paralysed. Steve and Miranda are distraught and lie to Bridget, telling her that physiotherapy will help her regain her strength. Bridget, however, senses they are lying and questions Riley, who reveals the truth.
Attempting to deal with her diagnosis, Bridget refuses to see Declan when he tries to visit her, breaking both their hearts.
Mickey is still upset about the recent events, but struggles to talk to Ned about his feelings. Janae suggests an afternoon of gardening and soon father and son are bonding again.
The afternoon goes well, until Jake eats a box of snail poison. Steve is called, but it is uncertain whether or not he will survive. Janae blames herself, and Jake takes her guilt a little too literally.
