It is clear that Remnant 2 has made some concessions. This is particularly true as regards the narrative and the rushed main plot. On the other hand, the gameplay has been enriched, particularly during boss battles. Compared to the previous episode, the art direction is far more polished and immersive. Similarly to its predecessor, Remnant 2 is a 3rd person shooter with classic but effective RPG mechanics, sprinkled with a dash of Dark Souls for a welcome and controlled challenge. Our first run lasted around twenty hours, and our feeling at the end of the final sequence was close to: “already!?” The adventure mode and procedural world offer great replayability, and we cannot wait to get back to the game when future DLC will come.- Xboxygen

Ultimately, Full Quiet is a game that has to be earned. Despite being complex at first and difficult in certain resolutions, we get a kick out of wandering around in nature, understanding the different mechanisms (at last!) and finding certain artefacts. In short, it is a great adventure game if you push through the initial difficulties and have a good sense of observation.- Xboxygen

Front Mission 1st Remake carries the weight of decades of frustration for French gamers. But fans can rest assured that we now have the opportunity to play the best possible version of this timeless classic. Oaken is, like many indie treasures drowned out by big releases and an abundance of news, the kind of unexpected discovery that is a real treat, and one that deserves to be known, shared and recognised. Here, Laki Studios restores our faith in the videogame industry’s ability to deliver quality content with a strong personality. These cute little woodland characters exude a love of rigorous strategy, and every mistake can quickly carry a heavy price. As far as we are concerned, it is quite a success, to say the least.- Xboxygen

Released in 2019, Mordhau managed to win over PC gamers, but considering it is a competitor to Chivalry 2 released two years after the 2021 release of the latter, it is hard not to compare the two. Unfortunately, Chivalry 2 was able to offer a more complete version, and returning to Mordhau after having tried a more recent game does not help at all. Perhaps a Mordhau 2 will arrive sooner on console and offer more content and gameplay than its rival. In conclusion, we would rather go back and slash heads on Chivalry 2.- Xboxygen

Nova Lands has won our hearts. The heaviness at the start of the game quickly fades away, giving way to a desire to go as far as possible. Progression is fairly well balanced and the title is never frustrating, even going so far as to make you think about how to improve your productions once you have turned off the console. The experience has been quite enjoyable. Provided you enjoy the genre, Nova Lands is well worth a minute of your time.- Xboxygen

Thanks to its fast-paced trailers, Exoprimal had a lot going for it. Unfortunately, after just a few hours of play, we soon realise that the content is not up to scratch. Without being exceptional per se, it nonetheless has a certain charm: what a pity. The thrilling idea of putting pressure on the two teams during game sessions is quite clever, as are the various exoskeletons that delight us. But the whole thing is swiftly marred by the redundancy that sets in. If the Japanese studio does not get involved soon, Exoprimal could well disappear like the dinosaurs...- Xboxygen

Without suffering from Alzheimer's disease ourselves, we have to admit that Inner Ashes won't remain engraved in our minds. The soporific exploration phases and childish puzzles failed to live up to our expectations. Despite its charming art direction and oniric music, our dream is quickly shattered once we've got the controller in hand, as the challenge presented lacks the depth to convince us. The theme is interesting, but the proposition is not.- Xboxygen

The Valiant is undoubtedly one of the best RTS games we have ever played on Xbox. It is a huge favourite for its plot, its characters, its atmosphere, its soundtrack… Everything would be perfect, if this console port did not suffer from so many handling problems. By trying too hard, the developers have failed to find the right balance, or to deliver a convincing port. It really is a shame.- Xboxygen

Harmony: The Fall of Reverie is aptly named as it is indeed, the fall of an unbalanced dream. The inspired artistic direction, the sensitive characters, the acting in the dubbing and the musical ambience all contribute greatly to the creation of this original and complex universe. Unfortunately, the title is mercilessly weighed down by an unnecessarily complex and ponderous game interface that constantly taunts us with poor gameplay and choices that were deceptive from the get-go. The promise of making “fully informed” decisions by allowing you to go to the other side of the stage and master the mechanics is far from being kept, and that is what makes the title so disappointing. Best reserved for fans of the French studio.- Xboxygen

After the narrative excellence of Rime, we had high expectations for this new title from Tequila Works. Unfortunately, Gylt fails to match its big brother. The lack of risk-taking in the gameplay and in the construction of the puzzles leads to a rather plain game. Due to a lack of finesse between what is narrated and what is suggested, the chemistry is not right and many players will miss out on what the developers wanted to convey. As Stadia's sole exclusive when it was first released in 2019, the title probably suffered from the weight that was on its shoulders at the time. We hope that for its next release, the studio will be able to fully express its talent.- Xboxygen

On the face of it, either in form or in content, Army of Ruin is not necessarily original or sexy in, but it does deliver on all its promises. Technically speaking, it has a number of arguments to convince those reluctant to old-school pixel-art and chiptunes from another century and make them try it. Despite some surprising choices and occasional poor balancing, it manages to maintain that dreaded “Come on! Just one more and I will stop!”. To be enjoyed without moderation.- Xboxygen

With Aliens: Dark Descent, the French studio Tindalos Interactive plunges us into a dark and eerie universe. At first, it appeared to be an unassuming little game. By the point we reached the end, we were quite surprised by how hooked we were. Anxious, stressed, compassionate are but a few words describing how we felt towards the future victims we have on the phone and whose lives are literally in our hands. We spent five hours hoping to solve this mystery as quickly as possible to put an end to the bloodbath throughout Gallows Creek, so that when it is over, we can finally say to ourselves, “Oh... give more!”- Xboxygen

With this remaster, Capcom is giving us the chance to discover or rediscover one of Shu Takumi's works in the best possible conditions. The modernised gameplay, reworked animations, rearranged music and integration of Ghost Puzzles do the licence proud. There are, however, a few shortcomings inherent to the original work and its medium. The lack of a Save option and the length of some of the dialogues slightly tarnish the experience, but that is trivial compared to the pleasure we had in thwarting fate.- Xboxygen

Indeed, Protodroid DeLTA does not reinvent the wheel. But Adam Kareem has nonetheless succeeded in integrating the foundations of a mythical licence of which he is an unconditional fan into his own universe, with both passion and respect. So yes, there is a taste of Mega Man here. Despite some obvious similarities, its many original additions, some of them quite striking, make it a truly original game. Park Beyond offers some good ideas for building roller coasters, and the first few hours are rather pleasant to explore. Unfortunately, despite the clever ideas related to the management of visitor categories, the diversity of outlets and the freedom given to creation, the experience quickly runs out of steam. We were also put off by the lack of clarity in the optimisation of park management between profit, fun, amazement, and cleanliness. Then we move on to camera problems and numerous glitches that mar the game experience. Apart from having a new competitor, Planet Coaster is still the master of theme park management games. Park Beyond presents a game lacking in content, with six themes and around fifteen unique attractions, the rest being available as DLC... Nuff said.- Xboxygen

The British studio Codemasters publishing a Formula 1 game every year is something we are used to. As such, the anticipation was high, and it would be a euphemism to say we were not knocked off our feet. The sequel to the Story mode, Breaking Point, keeps us on the edge of our seats right to the end. The new, highly ambitious F1 World mode allows you to spend countless hours fine-tuning your car, with the intention of competing against other drivers. But none of this would be possible without the improvements made to the handling of our F1 car. To our delight, this title is undoubtedly the pinnacle of what Codemasters can offer us. All in all, Dordogne is a moving story, full of sincerity and kindness. The title addresses a wide range of family issues: abandonment, family crises, serious accidents in life. It also offers a universal biography that touches our hearts and soul, as much through this summer stroll as through the search for memories. Our only regret is that it only lasts 3 hours at most. The Italian studio Milestone, creators of motorbike games for many years, finally presents the new MotoGP 23. Unfortunately, the joy of discovering the new features crashed as quickly as a motorbike on gravel roads after just a few minutes. The neural aid undoubtedly helps new players understand the bikes’ mechanics. The scripted challenges and the addition of relationships in the paddock tend to go in the right direction, but almost everything is a copy of MotoGP 22– released a year ago. Street Fighter 6 is a real masterclass, and we have rarely seen so much care taken with a versus fighting game, whether in terms of the amount of content and the quality on display. The cast is varied, the atmosphere is bonkers and the modernised and punchy gameplay makes it all worthwhile. Blizzard Entertainment sure took its time with this. But it was for a good cause. Diablo IV has clearly given itself the means to achieve its ambitions: to become the benchmark for hack 'n slash for years to come by bringing together old and new players under the same banner. The game system reveals its riches quite gradually, and the available content from launch is already pantagruelic. The question of the title's lifespan does not even arise, given that the Seasons system will periodically bring new exploits to complete. Whatever version of the game you choose, one thing is certain: Lilith will suck out your soul and bend you to her will.- Xboxygen

The Bearded Ladies wanted to make a richer, deeper and more ambitious game, but unfortunately, they failed. Even if you ignore the glitches, fix the difficulty and fine-tune the combat, the story and universe are far less interesting than the experience offered by Mutant Year Zero, especially as the main protagonist, Elvis, was quite annoying. From what we have seen on the PC version, the game runs without too many problems, but several players complained about the balance of the battles. If you are still interested in the game, we can only advise you to wait for the expected patches to arrive or to play the more stable PC version.- Xboxygen

Convergence: A League of Legends Story reveals another important part of the universe, but with the atmosphere of the Arcane series, as the locations and some of the main characters are similar. The conflict between Piltover and Zaun, against the backdrop of a war of influence for the control of Hextech, is given a new chapter of history here, while taking up the traditional themes linked to the risks of temporal paradoxes. One truly enjoys following Ekko in his peregrinations, his fights and his doubts throughout this episode, which is still a bit short considering the price. Nonetheless, whether technically or in terms of gameplay, the title keeps all its promises. With After Us, the Piccolo studio once again flexes its ability to make video games go beyond mere entertainment. Beautiful, lively and intense, Lego 2K Drive is as pleasant to watch as it is to handle. Based on classic karting game mechanics (turbo drifts, objects to throw, etc.), it does not forget to add its own touch by offering some well thought out subtleties. First of all, the story mode (the adventure’s core) has nothing to be shy of in terms of activities compared to Forza Horizon games and it can be played by two people simultaneously. However, it must be noted that the monetisation aspect is rather invasive with its integrated purchases and a season pass. We can only hope that this optional paid content will be used to finance additions to the title and that the support will be long-lasting, because the basic material is excellent.- Xboxygen

Regarding the latest Arkham Austin title, we are not going to hide the fact that we were on the fence. On one side, we felt this irrepressible urge to bash the game, especially concerning its definite lack of finish. On the other, and despite its shortcomings, the title kept us on our toes and we sincerely enjoyed playing it. Saying Redfall is imperfect is an understatement, but with the right follow-up, we really think that it could, in time, rise from its ashes. Hopefully, this will come true as soon as possible. Beyond the technical issues that will mostly be adjusted in time, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a remarkable title worthy of the “fantastic sequel pattern” that have marked the videogame history. If Jedi: Fallen Order was a pleasant surprise and built a solid foundation for another great single-player epic saga in the compelling Star Wars universe, Survivor improves on nearly every aspect of the original game. Indeed, the main characters grow in stature and become more and more endearing. Something quite challenging to achieve considering the ice-cold reception around Cal Kestis during his presentation. For Stig Asmussen, the Game Director, a trilogy was always the initial plan. We are looking forward to this third episode. May the force be with Respawn.- Xboxygen

Even though Ravenlok does not feature Alice per se, labelling it as a mere inspiration would be absurd considering how Cococucumber’s title brilliantly takes all the codes of this myth and sprinkles them with others. Minecraft Legends is a potential gem in the making. While it does not revolutionise the genre, it brings a refreshing twist to strategy games with its unusual third-person camera angle. In spite of its arduous development, which gave rise to certain concerns, Dead Island 2 is a real success. The technical aspect is spot on: the quality of its landscapes and the very elaborate atmosphere of its ten explorable zones often make for quite a pleasant surprise. The whole thing is wrapped up in an effective narrative that keeps you on the edge of your seat and its well-written secondary characters are the icing on the cake. The title unveils more and more layers throughout its adventure and is filled with good ideas, thus captivating us for the twenty hours it takes to complete it. Of course, the game remains quite standard in its approach and does not revolutionise the genre. Yet, how pleasant can it be to slaughter and butcher hordes of undead foes under the blazing Los Angeles sun. The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story is in many ways, quite a surprise. By adopting the pixel art style, Digital Sun Games presents the story of Sylas as a “miraculously rediscovered genesis” of the video game phenomenon that inspired it. Embracing the pitfalls inherent in these technical choices, we more than gladly accompany our unshackled rebel in his battles, both physical and ideological. The Ukrainian studio Frogwares has opted for a remake of one of their games released in 2006 as a result of the conflict ravaging its country. Rather than being satisfied with a slight remake, the game has been completely reworked from A to Z: that’s what we’re talking about! The story is slightly modified compared to the original, and the graphics are very pleasant, as is the soundtrack. Behind her looks of a wild girl with a bad mouth and her thirst for blind vengeance, Vernal is a prime example of finesse and grace once we have a controller in our hands. With a minimum of practice and if you put a little effort into it, you can embody a twirling Dante in 2D wearing petticoats (they are made of steel, though). Hello Penguin Team brilliantly succeeds in offering us a not so “old-fashioned” metroidvania, both rich and complete, while having the luxury of taunting all these modern games over-assisting the player. Saga of Sins is a fascinating, although too short discovery, both culturally and historically, for those who are interested in this period. The gameplay does not revolutionise the genre but remains sufficiently sober and efficient for an old-fashioned action game. Hats off to Bendy and the Dark Revival. Building on the experience gained from the franchise’s first episode, which was considered an unexpected success, Joey Drew Studios gifts us with a golden nugget of the genre. Indeed, this shows and proves that anguish, fear and panic are not the essential prerogative of ultra-realistic productions. The discrepancy between the cute visual aspect and the horrors lurking around the corner of each corridor tends to heighten the player’s uneasiness. We dreamed of tasting a great vintage, but apparently, vinegar seems to be what is on tap right now. As it stands, Blood Bowl 3 is unworthy of the magnificent board game it embodies. However, the title has a lot of potential thanks to the field experience and its new official rules, making it still as convincing and fun to play, all wrapped up in a brilliant graphical and technical redesign. Although the French studio has already rectified some details such as customisation, they will have to go to great lengths to convince fans to choose this opus over Blood Bowl 2.- Xboxygen

Clash: Artifacts of Chaos certainly suffers from a lack of budget and polish despite the few postponements already made. Adorned with a scrumptious graphic design and an enjoyable soundtrack, ACE Team's title unfortunately collects shortcomings. If in a tolerant mood, we would say it is just above the average line; in a more virulent one, we would say it is simply unbearable. We wish we could have ignored some of the flaws and game design choices, but the accumulation of a bland storyline lacking impact and emotion, the borderline useless RPG components and the quite ill-adjusted difficulty got the better of our patience, to the point of quitting the adventure before the climax. An unfortunate disappointment, that needs to be quickly forgotten.- Xboxygen

Project Zero: The Mask of the Lunar Eclipse is one of the best games of the licence in the West in its finest habillage. Initially, Geometric Sniper - Blood in Paris sent shivers down our spine before comfortably warming us up. Tempted by the proposal of a “Where's Wally?” video game, the non-existent scenario and the repeated stereotypes as well as the bad memories during which the title takes place made our heart cold as ice. Once we put aside what can barely be called a storyline and we shift our focus on searching for baguettes around the Eiffel Tower, a warm smile came over us. When played among people, the game finally unveils its richness and enables us to rediscover the joy of having fun with others thanks to a simple but effective video game allowing everyone to have a good time, whether you are a gamer or not. All of this for a price lower than 3€: what more could one ask for?- Xboxygen

We enjoyed the first episode of Dusty and Piper's adventures. We were therefore looking forward to this new title, and what a ride it was! The artistic direction is still as poetic and shimmering as ever. The realisation is flawless, even though we would have liked to fight more opponents. The musicality is once again omnipresent and we gladly rediscover the sarcastic ritornellos punctuating the adventure. Beyond its childish outer layer, Figment deals with mature topics. This second title is therefore the opportunity for a new introspection. If the studio plans to make a trilogy, count us in to keep on with this therapy.- Xboxygen

When something is enjoyable, it needs to be acknowledged: BROK the InvestiGator is quite impressive. Disguised behind cute and colourful outfits, it presents us a future that nobody would wish for; yet it is not without hope. It is a real treat to tag along these picturesque and well-written characters’ adventures. The COWCAT studio presents us with a small concoction of mixed genres, something quite rare nowadays. As one can guess, the combat part obviously is subpar to what the specialised competition of the genre proposes. So, grab the hero’s scaly paw and dive into the year 3035: you will not regret it!- Xboxygen

If we were to remember only one thing about Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, it would be its ease of completion. Forget about other titles where you had to work your ass off to even complete the first level. With Team Ninja’s latest, we can almost finish the story in one go. As for the graphics, an extra effort would have been appreciated, even more for the soundtrack. On the other hand, the gameplay’s pleasantness makes for quite an enjoyable experience. Whether alone, with friends or discovering this type of game, you will not regret it.- Xboxygen

Ultimately, our opinion about Atomic Heart leaves a sour taste in our mouths. At first, we were very excited by this memorable introduction and a cool building to explore, but we were quite disappointed by the bland and trite open world environment. After enjoying the discovery phase, the fun of it all quickly fades away. The initial ideas concerning the various gameplay phases were not bad, but they should not have been recycled ad nauseam. Right now, Mundfish's title has all the makings of a repetitive game ticking all the industry’s requisites without mastering the ins and outs of the genre. This results in a pleasant title that should nonetheless find its audience. Sadly, it will also disappoint a lot of people. Was it too ambitious? Perhaps. It must be said that, according to us, the studio masters quite well the technical side: it still needs more work to be convincing, though. So, a sour taste, but one that still needs to be experienced nonetheless.- Xboxygen

Rise of fox hero cannot claim to be a game that leans towards learning if it implements a boss at the end of the first level that is almost impossible for a rookie to beat. However, we feel that the target audience is indeed first-time players: a very attractive price, a non-existent scenario, recognisable enemies, small bonuses to brighten up the progression and a multi-purpose sword for everything else – ultimately, a quick to learn gameplay. As a result, with such an abnormal high difficulty, the game will inevitably upset some players. A child will not be able to do it and a more experienced player will be bored. Rise of fox hero missed its goal: too bad, its graphics were so cute.- Xboxygen

To finally be able to get our hands on this epic previously reserved for the Japanese public is a real chance for the fans of the licence. Unfortunately, after six episodes in the same format, it is disappointing to live a similar experience once again. If the narration of Like a Dragon: Ishin! is excellent and makes us experience a beautiful adventure, we cannot help but see it as yet another Yakuza, whether in its construction or its side content, but with a samurai filter. It is important to highlight that Wanted Dead offers an old-fashioned experience on every aspect. The shooter part of the game is not very well done, unlike the hand-to-hand aspect which is much more qualitative. In many ways, you can feel the lack of balance between next-gen and old-school games and that the development had to meet certain specifications, which absolutely failed to seduce us. Be warned that Wanted Dead proposes an experience for gamers whose credo is retro gaming. If you are a nostalgic of the Dreamcast, PS2 and Xbox era, go for it, otherwise it might be painful.- Xboxygen

Wild Hearts is not without its qualities. It even manages to captivate us during certain moments of grace, notably with its lively, nervous and dynamic gameplay as well as with its colourful bestiary. The ability to build structures on the go during battles is a real advantageous edge, both offensively and in our movements. Despite its first few hours which are hard to take in hand, it gains momentum as you unlock new game mechanics. Demon Hunter 2: New Chapter does not revolutionise the formula, but it nonetheless remains a safe bet for fans of the genre. Graphically, it is neat and well designed: you can find objects without having to squint and tilt your head sideways. It is a pleasure to find the basics of a classic point and click game, and you can appreciate the few new ingredients that are sprinkled here and there. As for the usual narrative that mixes the fantasy paradigm with everyday life elements, it works like a charm. Despite its shortcomings mainly due to its collaborative funding and the size of the studio, the first title in the series was convincing. Now that it is supported by a publisher, we expected another level of realisation from the KeokeN Interactive team. Unfortunately, the result lacks a little je ne sais quoi to convince. The scenaristic qualities and the developer’s talent in the construction and the orchestration of the narrative manage once again to erase the technical defects. SpongeBob: The Cosmic Shake is not a bad game. We mainly criticise it for recycling well-established codes in the genre, ones they already exploited in the previous episode without ever trying to bring something more. The story is only a pretext, far from the standards the square sponge got us used to. Raiden IV x MIKADO remix is clearly not for the occasional pilot, who should be advised to go for more affordable titles that are probably much less frustrating to complete. Saving the Earth has been a terribly serious business since the 1980s. This episode of the electrifying licence is hard to master and reminds us with a certain cheek and style that only training and perseverance are the keys to success. Whilst the discovery of the different princesses imagined by AweKteaM is fun and hits the spot every time, we nonetheless regret the lack of content for the price asked, as well as the lack of replayability once reached a high level, thus making the whole thing far too simple despite a difficult setting. What a great episode this Monster Hunter Rise is! Capcom has taken the formula of the massive Monster Hunter World from a few years ago and sprinkled it with improvements to make it even more dynamic. By reducing the number of ingredients needed for crafting and adding various improvements such as the Wirebug, switch skills or even more verticality in the environments, the Japanese developer has certainly refined the already canonical recipe of the previous opus. The cherished universe, the number of new monsters and the ever-present challenge wrap up the list of essential ingredients which, in our opinion, make this Monster Hunter Rise a savoury recipe to success. We are convinced that a sequel could benefit from a few improvements, especially concerning the tracking, which is almost invisible here. Maybe for a Monster Hunter World 2?- Xboxygen

Legendary Heroes is not a good game, or at least not on console. The handling is clearly not adapted to the controller, in addition to having a kind of latency, and being glitchy during attacks. A bit confusing at first, High On Life is an experience that can finally be enjoyed once you put some hours into it. Regarding its purely FPS component, even though it works very well, it was a bit too wishy-washy. Among the notable flaws, we have the lack of impact in gunfights, a small and repetitive bestiary and bosses that are too easy to take down. On the other hand, the idea of the Gatlians is interesting to explore and this irreverent, vulgar, trashy and absurd humour finally won us over and made us forget some of the game design’s shortcomings. Beware, however, that the lack of ergonomics, particularly with regard to subtitles, could put off many non-English-speaking players from getting involved in the adventure. Although imperfect, Squanch Games’ title remains a solid base for a new licence and manages to take us into its totally ludicrous universe despite quite a negative first impression. Make no mistake: this is not a cross between Mom, I missed the Plane and Doom. This is a game that uses well-established industry codes, sometimes taking things from Resident Evil, sometimes from Doom, but without ever thinking about or adapting its gameplay, all of this sprinkled with numerous nods to pop culture films. Sold as a serious, horrific and complex game, Krampus Kills is actually the opposite. Indeed, we have the feeling that DangerousBob Studio LLC is knowingly trying to hide the truth. This particularly annoyed us, but we must admit that, after the initial disappointment, we enjoyed going through the levels of this game which should show their true colours.
