DeLTA was made to "be the change" that shows the world the promise of what AI can become - and so she sets out to prove to a skeptical world she's more than "just a robot."

However, when a gang of Vypers attacks Shelton's lab, the doctor is forced to enable DeLTA's combat subroutines and retrofit her with weapons systems for self-defense. After DeLTA successfully fends off the attackers, Dr. Shelton sets DeLTA on a new course: defend the region against the rising Vyper threat, earn the city's trust and affection, and show the world the true promise of what AI can become.

Show the world the potential of AI in Protodroid DeLTA, a fast and fluid 3D action-platformer set in a beautiful and hopeful solarpunk world, featuring a colorful cast of characters to meet and bosses to defeat.

Despite a fairly negative-sounding review, Protodroid DeLTA is a fun game. It manages to capture most of the magic of action-platformers of the era, Mega Man X in particular but also the Sonic Adventure games to an extent, with fun, dynamic combat and tons of platforming and a bright, colourful look. Unfortunately, while the gameplay has its moments, it’s also not quite as precise and polished as such a game would require, and with how prevalent and difficult the platforming sequences become, this is certainly a big issue. Nostalgic gamers and people dying to play something resemblign a new 3D Mega Man are still bound to have a pretty fun time with Protodroid DeLTA, and here’s hoping that the title can be successful enough to warrant a sequel that fixes some of its shortcomings.

Indeed, Protodroid DeLTA does not reinvent the wheel. But Adam Kareem has nonetheless succeeded in integrating the foundations of a mythical licence of which he is an unconditional fan into his own universe, with both passion and respect. So yes, there is a taste of Mega Man here. Despite some obvious similarities, its many original additions, some of them quite striking, make it a truly original game. It is a great indie discovery, and a fantastic way to enjoy some quality time whilst waiting for Protodroid DeLTA 2.
