May 17, 2023Strayed Lights is a strange and immersive adventure title. With interesting stage design, incredible audio, and slick combat, this is one game that shouldn't be missed. It wasn't on my radar, but I'm glad I got to experience it.

Apr 28, 2023Strayed Lights is both a cosy, relaxing experience and an extremely well-crafted Souls-lite adventure game – and honestly, it’s a combination we didn’t even know we wanted. With a lavish world, beautiful soundtrack and addictive combat loop, this is a unique title that's easy to recommend.

May 1, 2023Strayed Lights’ pacifist, parry-led combat felt out of reach at first, but then we found the rhythms of it. We were switching colours on cue, like a mobile rave. We weren’t sold on some visual telegraphing, and the exploration could do with some spit and polish, but everything else here is immaculate. So, treat your fingertips and let Strayed Lights brighten up your evenings.

Apr 25, 2023Strayed Lights is a solid debut title from Embers that delivers atmosphere in droves.

Apr 25, 2023I can’t stress enough how close Embers is to something great here. Strayed Lights is just a few design decisions, tweaks and adjustments away from being fantastic. It’s a beautiful world you want to explore, but you just need a touch more guidance to feel less aimless. Even as someone who cares little for story in games, a little something here might help players feel more connected with the world.

May 17, 2023Artistic expression is what will strike the biggest chord in Strayed Lights. There are lovely moments of beauty to unearth, and you will no doubt find a game ignited with a love for tranquillity and colour. However, empty spaces make Strayed Lights world feel uncomfortably abandoned at times, and the combat is based too heavily on precision and colour matching to engross. Thankfully, Strayed Lights is short, but it runs out of momentum too soon despite some impressive boss encounters and some gorgeous skies. Give it a whirl then, but you won’t feel like Strayed Lights is anything but a shallowly gentle gust that will blow by without the force it needed to stick in the mind.

May 19, 2023Even though filled with good ideas, Strayed Lights gives us the impression of being unfinished. It is as if a polishing phase was missing, which would have done it the world of good. In the end, despite such good bones, we can only feel frustrated. Message to Embers Games: don’t rest on your laurels, you have a diamond in the rough in your hands. We are impatiently waiting for a sequel that will be able to take advantage of the universe we see in the background. We want to discover the truth about this falling civilisation and its Lovecraftian architecture. Unfortunately, here, some things are still missing.
