It's beautiful, relaxing, and a wonderful game to show off PlayStation VR2 with but Kayak VR: Mirage is ultimately a very basic experience.

Simply put, your enjoyment of Thumper will mostly rely on how much fun you have retrying the same segments over and over again. Although some folks like games that take this approach, I personally get tired of it fast so keep that in mind before taking the trip.

I had a good time with Startenders: Intergalactic Bartending but it can be a rather finicky and repetitive affair so keep that in mind.

I've never played anything quite like The Last Clockwinder and it truly knocked my socks off with its clever take on factory-building.

Budget Cuts Ultimate is a culmination of VR stealth action that'll keep you on edge as you figure out just what the heck is going on.

Pixel Ripped 1978 is the best offering in the series so far and I'm absolutely blown away by how much variety they managed to pack in.

It's cute, simple, and entertaining but Kitten Island unfortunately doesn't quite live up to the classic 2D platformers of the NES era.

With nifty mechanics and a rewarding sense of challenge, Cat Souls is a worthwhile indie despite its rather clunky and inconsistent feel.

Annalynn is a ton of fun so if you're in the mood for some gratifying retro arcade action then you'd be a goof not to play this indie gem.

I loved my time with Terminal Velocity: Boosted Edition and I'll boot it up whenever I want a quick fix of old-school explosive action.

I didn't expect much from Sugar Tanks but its slow albeit intuitive gameplay still managed to disappoint; it's not that sweet after all.

Speed Crew is definitely a solid co-op game to add to your line-up but it definitely doesn't reinvent the wheel; it only repairs it.

I loved every second of Railbound and I'm sure you will, too, especially if you appreciate cute dogs, tricky trains, and clever puzzles.

Everdream Valley delivers simple fun farming gameplay within an adorable game world that'll surely keep a smile on your face.

Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection is a great compilation of dungeon crawlers but one that will require a substantial amount of patience to play through so if you're up to the task, it can be one highly rewarding package that'll stay with you for a very long time.

We Love Katamari REROLL+ Royal Reverie is exactly what its name will lead you to believe as it's an excellent classic silly fun time that looks better than ever and has a pinch of extra content that's sure to delight long-time fans so play it; okay, Mr. Sunshine?

Undead Horde 2: Necropolis is simply one of my favourite indie games of the year so far thanks to its incredibly rewarding structure and variety of horde types that make configuring your army a treat. If that sounds good to you then I highly recommend this indie gem.

Street Fighter 6 is an incredible experience that any fan of fighting games will thoroughly appreciate. With 3 very different modes of play that'll appeal to basically anyone, I can easily say that this is one must-have fighter.

Raiden III x MIKADO MANIAX is a solid iteration of a classic shoot 'em up which will always remain one of my favourites thanks to its incredible gameplay and action-packed campaign that'll keep you glued to the screen. Plus, there are oodles of extras which is great.

Railway Empire 2 may not be a perfect fit for console play but I still loved my time with it and I definitely hope that it gets updated to help make it more accessible and streamlined. Although it can be a great deal of track-laying fun, I currently prefer the first game.

Super Mega Baseball 4 is my favourite baseball game of all time thanks to its top-notch customizable gameplay, oodles of modes, and hilarious and welcoming atmosphere. Plus, it reminded me why I've always loved baseball games even from the good old NES days.

Although it's a mostly entertaining old-school shmup, Arcade Archives MAZINGER Z can be quite irritating with its brutal unpredictability.

If you own a Switch and love shoot 'em ups then I highly recommend playing Gunvein as it offers top-tier arcade-shooting entertainment.

Cyber Citizen Shockman is certainly a relic from the past as it's undeniably dated yet at the same time, I can't stop playing it.

Although there's a lot of humour and good times packed into Evil Wizard, its combat is quite middling and can be rather frustrating.

Super Dungeon Maker nails what made the classic Zelda dungeons fun while letting you intuitively create and share your own; great stuff.

Although it doesn't do anything revolutionary gameplay-wise, Planet of Lana is a lovely puzzle platformer with one gorgeous world.

As far as retro-inspired 2D action games go, Bat Boy is certainly top-tier and it will definitely put your skills to the test.

The delicate balance of maintaining health and on-hand energy charges throughout grueling combat situations makes CONVERGENCE: A League of Legends Story a challenging and immersive adventure that'll compel you to fully explore its imaginative world.

Onigo Hunter is certainly one of those retro-inspired RPGs that I'll gladly go back to whenever I want a quick fix of an old-school turn-based adventure. Its sense of exploration is superb and it even makes backtracking while completing quests a treat. Huzzah!

HUMANITY is one great puzzler that'll keep you entertained throughout its huge campaign of challenging and always-evolving scenarios.

Although its chaotic co-op gameplay can be entertaining, Filthy Animals Heist Simulator simply doesn't reach the heights of similar titles.

When it comes to indie game sequels, Supraland: Six Inches Under truly provides more than enough thanks to its imaginative new setting and gameplay mechanics that'll constantly keep you wondering just what the heck you'll come across next.

Whether you play it solo or with friends, Glitch Busters: Stuck On You is a fantastic action-packed game that's sure to delight.

As a long-time fan of all things Mega Man, I'm thoroughly impressed with what Protodroid DeLTA has to offer; I highly recommend it.

Puzzle Bobble Everybubble! marks a great return for the iconic series. It may take a few missteps with some minor gameplay elements but what's here still provides a superb collection of bubble-bursting fun that you can easily enjoy with friends.

It took a long time for me to appreciate what Monster Menu: The Scavenger's Cookbook has to offer and once I did, I became hooked thanks to its surprisingly deep strategic survival formula that'll have you scrambling to maintain and grow your party of chibi adventurers.

LEGO 2K Drive is a supremely entertaining kart racer, especially for the little ones. So, if you're looking for an easy-breezy time in a delightfully silly game world then you'll thoroughly appreciate what this kart racer has in store.

Death or Treat is a very fun 2D action roguelike with impressively immersive combat that'll have you giddily juggling Halloween monstrosities while they spew out candy as if they're piñatas and it's your birthday.

As a retro gamer with an affinity for all things Dig Dug and Bomberman, I had a fun time with Murtop and look forward to beating my high score again and again until I can be the best bomb-pooping bunny in all the land.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is an awesome and unforgettable adventure and I'm happy to say that the Zelda series is still killing it in 2023. With that being said; please, Nintendo: we really need to experience a brand new Hyrule in the next Zelda game.

As a newcomer to the franchise, I had a wonderful time with STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor despite it not being the Soulslike that I thought it would be. However, it ticked a lot of boxes for what I love about 3D platformers which I definitely wasn't expecting; very cool.

Marfusha is a weird game. On one hand, its gameplay is one-note and repetitive; be it intentional or not. On the other hand, it's downright hilarious with its goofy dialogue, oddball premise, and dystopian elements that actually tie into the gameplay. I recommend it.

Ravenlok isn't a bad game but it also doesn't do anything all that well with its repetitive and undemanding gameplay and constant backtracking. If you're looking for a game to lull you to sleep, though, then it'll definitely fit the bill.

Spooky Spirit Shooting Gallery is certainly a very fun game but that fun has a rather short lifespan so just like with an actual carnival game, you'll play it for a bit before moving on to more substantial sources of entertainment.

I loved playing its predecessor back in the day and now that Dokapon Kingdom Connect is here, I'm thrilled that modern audiences can appreciate its wacky party RPG antics. Who knew that combining those genres could be this much fun?

Teslagrad 2 may not be the sequel that I was hoping it would be after all these years but it's still a very good Metroidvania follow-up that'll have you giddily flinging Lumina around its hazardous environments as you amass a collection of cards and enjoyable upgrades.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Nuclear Blaze despite its brief campaign and occasional repetition. Whether you're exploring to rescue kitties or attempting the super-tough Hold my Beer Mode, you're bound to have a wonderful trip through its fire-filled world.

R-Type Final 3 Evolved is bananas with both its absurd level of difficulty and its vast amount of content to enjoy. So, if you loved your time with R-Type Final 2 then you'll have a blast blowing up Bydo in this badass sequel as well.

I had a wonderful time with Mr. Sun's Hatbox and I'm looking forward to playing it more so if you're in the mood for some silly 2D action that'll keep throwing curveballs your way then be sure to strap on a poo hat and try it out, ya dangus.

Magical Drop VI may not feel like the step-up for the series that I was hoping it would be but it still remains a thoroughly entertaining puzzler that's even more enjoyable with friends whether you play locally or online.

Fairy Fencer F: Refrain Chord is a lovely strategic follow-up to a highly underrated RPG which fans and newcomers will enjoy. From its hilarious dialogue to its intriguing albeit slight innovations to a classic genre, this is one fun-filled SPRG.

Disney Speedstorm is a kart racer that's a heck of a lot of fun and it has an enjoyable and unique power-up system so if you can get past the confusing currencies and menus then definitely give it a chance.

Pirates Outlaws is pretty fun once you start unlocking things and there's a lot of stuff to do in the form of quests, feats, earning repute, trying out characters, and beating the alternate game modes. There's enough content to keep swashbucklers invested for dozens of hours but for me, the core gameplay just isn't fun enough to keep me entertained.

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores extends the tropical scenery of the main game and introduces the land of Hollywood to the story complete with a solid amount of content and upgrades which makes it a fine choice to lengthen your adventure with Aloy.

Advance Wars 1 and 2 are timeless classics and I know those are big words but these games are deserving of that honour. I was obsessed with Advance Wars 2 back in the day and now, I'm loving the franchise yet again. Plus, fans of the series can rest easy knowing that Nintendo hasn't abandoned the Advance Wars franchise and it makes me wonder what's next.

There's a ton of fun packed into Minecraft Legends and it certainly takes a long time to understand how it all works together but once you get over that hump, you'll end up having a wonderful time making delicious bacon out of those dastardly piglins.

Tray Racers! is a delightful racing game that's as silly as it is simple so if you're looking for an online funfest then be sure to check it out and pet Scrump while you're at it. I just hope that its performance issues get sorted out over the coming weeks.

Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection is a fantastic compilation of RPGs that I'm very happy can see the light of day again. The question is: will there be a Star Force Legacy Collection with Mega Man Network Transmission included? I can only hope.

I absolutely love playing Cannon Dancer - Osman as it's one of the zaniest and most action-packed classic games ever created. At the same time, this re-release could have done much more to celebrate this arcade treasure.

Sherlock Holmes The Awakened is a rewarding investigative experience with familiar gameplay that has you play as both Sherlock and Watson as they follow the phenomenon of Cthulhu around the world while fighting to keep their sanity. Although it's smaller in scope than the previous title and is lacking in terms of side-quests, it's still a fun journey and is presented beautifully to boot.

Process of Elimination is a fun detective game with an interesting cast and story as well as a unique board game twist on investigating. As long as you're prepared to read a lot of text, you'll enjoy unraveling the mystery of The Quartering Duke.

Cave Digger 2: Dig Harder is a tough game to recommend, especially because it released over a month ago as of writing this and it's still as annoyingly glitchy as it is. There is a bit of fun to be had, though, especially for those who love the grind.

RUNNER is my favourite PSVR2 game so far thanks to its intense action-packed arcade-like gameplay, incredible amount of variety, and '80s presentation complete with a banging soundtrack and over-the-top explosions. In my opinion, that's what video games are all about.

Assault Suits Valken DECLASSIFIED is a port of an incredibly fun retro 2D action game with oodles of extras to boot. It may just be one game that you can complete within an hour but it's a darn fun one that any old-school gamer would love to have in their collection.

I mostly enjoyed GrimGrimoire OnceMore and it still looks lovely but at the same time, its gameplay isn't all that involving, especially after you master the basics which doesn't take all that long.

I'm delighted with what Hot Wheels Rift Rally has to offer and it's by far the most enjoyable mixed reality gaming experience that I've played yet. Whether you're a fan of Hot Wheels or just want to build race courses around your home, you'll have a great time with it.

Tchia is a highly enjoyable and varied coming-of-age adventure game with a ton to see and do. The possession mechanic is a ton of fun, the sights and sounds are undeniably attractive, and it has a good dose of dark humour to top it all off.

DC's Justice League: Cosmic Chaos is a silly lighthearted game that's intuitive for kids, hilarious for folks of all ages, and fairly fun to boot. Just make sure you don't get it for its multiplayer mode because you'll likely be disappointed with what it has to offer.

Guns N' Runs reminded me why I love challenging old-school action games as much as I do so if you enjoy the genre then I recommend that you play this sucker. Its performance issues are kind of a bummer, though, so be wary about that before diving in.

DYSCHRONIA: Chronos Alternate is a mostly fun investigative VR adventure that sets the stage for hopefully more games in the genre. Physically standing inside a crime scene and finding clues is surprisingly thrilling but I just wish it had a more interesting world to explore.

Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key is the best-looking game in the franchise and it's so full of heart and wonder that anyone with a soft spot for delightful adventures will easily fall in love with it. I can't wait to see what Gust has in store next.

Jurassic World Aftermath Collection is a solid VR game that's tense without being scary and somewhat enjoyable without offering anything particularly unique in its gameplay formula. In short, it'll provide thrills for anyone who's too scared to play a VR horror game.

Unplugged - Air Guitar is a lot of fun for the duration that it lasts but after the repetition and lack of visual variety starts to sinks in, you'll gladly put your axe down, take off your headset, and re-enter the real world.

Cosmonious High is yet another delightful gem for PlayStation VR2 and I'm very happy that such a unique and charming game exists for the platform. So, if you want some cute and lighthearted fun in the virtual realm then I definitely recommend it.

After playing Garden of the Sea for a while, it completely won me over with its downright adorable game world that I can't stop thinking about as well as its rewarding mechanics that are as fun to learn as they are intuitive to work with. What a fantastic VR experience.

I wanted to enjoy ALTAIR BREAKER, especially after its promising tutorial but after diving into the meat of its gameplay, things start to fall apart fast. With that being said, I know that the developers can make a much better game so let's hope that they do in the future.

As a piece of '50s nostalgia, Squad 51 vs. the Flying Saucers fits the bill almost perfectly but as a shoot 'em up, it makes for quite a maddening experience complete with ambiguous visuals that will cause many unexpected failures.

With the brand new course Yoshi's Island in all of its nostalgic charm, plenty of familiar tracks, and a few more Mario Kart Tour courses, Wave 4 of the Booster Course Pass provides a ton of kart-racing fun that anyone will thoroughly enjoy.

Zombieland: Headshot Fever Reloaded is a solid arcade-style shooter that'll put your skills to the test whether you're trying to climb the leaderboards or master all of the challenges for each stage. It's quite inconsistent, though, so be ready for some frustrations.

Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon is one of the most visually impressive games that I've ever played. It may not offer much of a challenge but its undemanding gameplay will allow you to more easily appreciate its gorgeous storybook world.

If you enjoyed Trails from Zero then naturally, The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure should be next on your list of games to play. With its familiar world, cast of characters, and gameplay albeit with a few minor twists; this is one epic RPG that you're sure to love.

Considering it's such a unique offering, I can easily say that Caverns of Mars: Recharged is one of the better Atari reboots in recent years, especially with its simple controls that are utilized in an unexpectedly complex and strategic gameplay formula.

As a menu-based game, The Smile Alchemist surprised me with how immersive and engaging it is. With that in mind, its gameplay definitely gets tedious after a while but it still makes for an excellent game to play whenever you want to relax in a cute town.

OCTOPATH TRAVELER II is a JRPG with a lack of direction in its story that's mostly saved by its fun job system and battle mechanics.

I mostly enjoyed my time with Little Witch Nobeta, especially with its gratifying combat and consistent character enhancements. However, it's still a rather clunky game that could greatly benefit from a map and more distinct environments.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is a superbly fun action RPG that'll put your parry skills to the test. Throw in rewarding exploration and so many mechanics that it'll make your head spin and you're left with a wonderfully engaging full-fledged adventure.

Tetris Effect: Connected PSVR2 is a culmination of everything since the original released in 2018 and the fact that it looks so awesome thanks to PlayStation VR2 means that it's by far the best way to experience it yet. Oh, and the new modes are cool, too.

For newcomers to the series, void* tRrLM2(); //Void Terrarium 2 provides a fantastic experience that will make you fall in love with Robbie and Toriko. However, for veterans like me, it can all be a little too familiar, especially with its slow-paced campaign.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time with WHAT THE BAT? and will likely play through it again in the future seeing as it's such a funny and unique experience while also being surprisingly heartfelt.

I'm having a lot of fun with Demeo and look forward to enjoying more online matches within its tricky monster-filled dungeons. It may ache my neck looking down for so long but in the end, I'd say it's worth it for the amount of fun that it offers.

It took a long time for Grim Guardians: Demon Purge to grow on me but once it did, I became hooked thanks to its assortment of clever abilities and oodles of secrets to discover. So, if you long for the return of old-school Castlevania then I'm sure you'll enjoy this.

Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe took an already great game (perhaps the most underrated game in the series) and made it even better with sharp visuals, oodles of extras, and a brand new mode that allows you to play fun mini-games from Kirby's past titles.

Akka Arrh takes a while to grow on you but once it does, it's hard to put down. From its trippy aesthetics to its tricky gameplay, this is one old-school experience that'll remind you that video games are best when they're simply fun.

Pinball FX offers excellent pinball fun but I can only recommend it to those who are new to the series because fans will certainly be disappointed with its lackluster features. Plus, the fact that they'll have to buy everything again is frankly inexcusable.

When it comes to Switch puzzle games, Piczle Lines 2: Into the Puzzleverse is one that you definitely don't want to miss with its relaxing gameplay and fun-filled presentation that'll keep you coming back for more, especially whenever you want to wind down.
