Convergence: A League of Legends Story doesn't just manage to stand on its own two feet as a gripping spin-off to the League of Legends property at large, but so too does it also craft an astoundingly accomplished Metroidvania that stands on its own two feet, tying together innovation and heart in one of the most welcome surprises of the year so far.

It may not bring anything truly new to the genre, but Convergence: A League of Legends Story is a great time nonetheless.

Another League of Legends spin-off, another Action-RPG, but this time dominating the scene in this stylish Metroidvania is a fun mix of platforming and combat involving time manipulation. Well balanced, fun and fast-paced, even if you are not a fan of LOL you will probably love it.

A platformer with some satisfying heft to its movement, Convergence is also one of the best realisations of League Of Legends’ characters yet. [Issue#29, p.78]

Convergence likely isn't an experience that will stick out in my mind for the long haul, but I have very little to say about it that would be considered negative. From start to finish, Convergence makes for an enjoyable action-platformer that doesn't look to overstay its welcome. Perhaps more than anything, the game once again proves that Riot has been wise to continue expanding League of Legends as titles like this help add more character and depth to the franchise's world. If you're looking for something new to play that deviates from the endless grind of solo queue, Convergence is very much worth checking out.

Convergence offers a playful offer supported by well-made gameplay - net of some roughness - and by a structured progression system, which over the hours enriches a formula that starts a bit with the brake on. Despite everything, having reached the end of the adventure, one gets the clear impression that the team has not managed to best express the potential of its creative vision, thanks to an uninspired and much less effective story than that seen in The Mageseeker. Net of its weaknesses, however, the title represents another good test by Riot Forge, waiting to see the third and final chapter of the League of Legends spin-offs.
