Assassin's Creed Origins is the best possible series comeback. With a gripping narrative and an amazing Ancient Egypt open world, Origins is a wonderful and unforgettable journey. The revamped light-RPG gameplay works like a charm and it's the perfect mix of the most iconic features of the series and a contemporary taste in terms of game design.

Ninja Gaiden 2 Black is not perfect. It tries to remedy the mistakes made by the Sigma series, but it only partially succeeds in its intent and fails to replicate the perfect intensity that Tomonobu Itagaki managed to nail in 2008. However, it remains the best declination of the game currently available on modern systems, thanks also to the Unreal Engine 5 that enhances its aesthetics to excellent levels. It may not be entirely worthy of the Black suffix, but this Ninja Gaiden 2 still deserves your attention while waiting for the fourth chapter.

Plagued with technical issues partially resolved patch after patch, Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate Daemonhunters has also problems in terms of balancing and AI. Sackboy comes to PC, and it’s a big adventure indeed: our knitted hero will have to travel through five worlds in his quest to stop Vex from turning the entire Craftworld into a chaotic nightmare. Have a Nice Death is a beautiful example of rogue-lite. Fast, beautiful to look at and fun to play with. Furthermore, with his dark humour, he touches on delicate issues such as crunch, burnout and the problems of a society focused too much on work and little on the person. We cannot deny that Far Cry 5 is another "more of the same" entry, warts and all, but the religious fanatic setting is spot-on, and Montana is simply wonderful (and Joseph Seed is one of the best villains the series has ever had). The open-world approach to the game works as usual, and the more you look at it as a big, sumptuous playground, the better. The Arcade mode has a lot, plenty of potential that will show its best in the upcoming weeks and months, when the community starts toying with the powerful editor. Even as it is now, Far Cry 5 is an excellent chapter in the series.

Monster Sanctuary merges a complex turn-based combat RPG we are used to see in big JRPG productions with metroidvania-style exploration and succeeds in both genres. Pixel perfect jumps alternate with tactical battles down to the last hitpoint, and we’ll need the help of our monsters to overcome difficult areas and solve puzzles. Meanwhile, an interesting storyline compels us as we catch enemy eggs, Pokémon style. So many genres mixed in one game, and such a pretty one to boot! Highly recommended.

Atelier Yumia is a bold step forward for the series, embracing a more expansive open-world structure and a modernized combat system. The alchemy mechanics remain engaging, but the streamlined progression and reduced party interactions may not sit well with longtime fans. Visually, Gust has delivered its most polished Atelier yet, though the art direction leans towards the familiar. While the lower difficulty might divide opinions, the open-world exploration—clearly inspired by gacha-style games—adds a fresh dynamic without impacting core gameplay. If you seek a more action-oriented Atelier with a fresh narrative approach, this entry is worth a look.

F1 25 marks an improvement over the previous installment, featuring new content and a more in-depth My Team mode. The LIDAR scanning has made some tracks much more realistic, though the disparity with those that haven't been updated is noticeable. As for Braking Point, once again, the developers have opted for a highly dramatized approach to Formula 1, resulting in a simplistic and somewhat unrealistic narrative. Gunbrella throws a huge amount of elements into the pot of game design: twin stick shooter, action platformer, a touch of adventure, pure arcade sections, and a story designed specifically to insert any element into the game without penalizing narrative coherence. Impossible to properly delve into every aspect in the bare eight hours required to finish it, but the result is nevertheless very interesting, also by virtue of a slightly lower price than the average for this type of videogame. SteamWorld Heist 2 grabbed me right away with its light-hearted tone and the fact that it offered considerable tactical depth without being punitive in its approach. On the contrary, the developers seem to say "Come on, try this thing too, you have nothing to lose anyway!". Syberia: The World Before gave me back the sense of wonder I felt, twenty years ago, with the first two episodes and, for this alone, for me it is a big "yes". There are some rather glaring flaws such as the fluctuating quality of 3D models, in particular the characters and some mechanisms when they are shot in the foreground, but nothing that detracts from the impressive narrative work and the extraordinary emotional impact of this adventure, which brings a dramatic story to the stage with great delicacy. There is also a lot of art, both figurative and musical, with a pinch of humor that never hurts. Someone will find it too easy, too guided, but I certainly liked it.

PGA Tour 2K25 arrives after a long break, which 2K and HB Studios have used to improve the aesthetics and enhance the game offering. The game options have been expanded in both single and multiplayer and the existing ones have been refined, and three major tournaments have arrived as well as some new courses, while the roster could certainly have been more consistent. There are still some navigation problems in the menus due to some small bugs and the new control system, alongside the existing ones, requires a lot of patience and training.

Blood & Truth is the macho simulator par excellence. The tracking is reliable and accurate, while the abundance of crazy scenes guarantees an explosive and varied adventure, at least while it lasts. It has a serious need for extra content, but its heart is in the right place, in the midst of a thousand explosions and a shower of bullets and broken glass.

MLB The Show 24 could almost be called 23 ½. The new features are more quantitative than qualitative, with a gameplay that follows the path of the last edition without the slightest deviation. What changes are mainly the contents, among which the excellent second season dedicated to the Negro League and the section starring Derek Jeter stand out. Little to report on Road To The Show, Franchise and Diamond Dynasty, which remain at fair/good levels without the addition of extra details that have a considerable impact on the gaming experience. No particular flaw in the graphics/sounds, which however would require some global cleaning and modernization, with particular attention to the player models.

Despite being designed as a cross-over, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE is an enjoyable J-RPG with a steady identity, that could have benefited from a more passionate writing and a less stereotyped cast of characters.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole is an amazing game also on Nintendo Switch, despite the long loading times, and some problems in the docked mode (a bit of aliasing and fonts a little bit too small for comfort). A wonderful experience for all the South Park fans, but only if you don't have the chance to play it elsewhere.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is "simply" a well-packaged soulslike, extremely derived from the previous work of Team Ninja, very unbalanced in terms of mechanics, but still fun and satisfying. An operation almost tending to experiment with some new mechanics that are not always perfectly blended with the rest of the game grammar, speaking more to the regular users of Souls, rather than to newbies. Fun and with a difficulty that rewards only towards the end but, all in all, it's a properly packaged game.

Incredibly varied and immense, between various and eventual modes, Gundam Breaker 4 presents a well-implemented gameplay within it and a high and studied customization of the Mobile Suit. It's excellent how you can connect and implement different weapons to create the mecha par excellence. The story is not the real strength of the work and does not intend to be, preferring to focus everything and even more so on the game design. A choice that I really appreciated.
