    Dishonored: Death of the Outsider captures everything that’s great about Arkane’s assassination series, while also showing that it can still surprise. Smart tweaks improve the core gameplay and, if you’re worried about having fewer powers to play with, you can always go back through it with Corvo’s moveset when you’re done. As far as mission quality goes, it peaks in the middle - the fourth mission has us revisit a location from Dishonored 2, albeit slightly reworked, and the final mission feels much more linear than what’s come before. Still, it all leads to a satisfying conclusion that neatly ties up every plot strand that’s been hanging since that political assassination, whoever you decide is responsible.

    It lightens up on the story consequences from your actions and allows a much more liberated approach to your gameplay in which I found myself gleefully slaughtering guards more than creeping around corners.

    With its weak main characters the class and storytelling depth of Dishonored 2 is out of reach for Death of the Outsider. Having said that, you definitely can look forward to a suspenseful and stealthy return to Karnaca.

    Dishonored: Death Of The Outsider is a solid, inventive, yet somewhat subdued capper to the stories from the previous Dishonored games. While the smaller scope can be felt throughout, the approach to allowing players to express themselves as a master assassin is just as strong as ever. It's uncertain where the series can go from here, but this stand-alone release proves that Dishonored is still a remarkably designed stealth-action game with much potential, that offers players the chance to be creative in ways they'd least expect.

I really enjoyed more of the Dunwall and its universe, and its expertly crafted levels, excellent variety of ways to play, and great ambiance and world building. Other games say it, but the Dishonored franchise really truly lets you resolve situations multiple ways, and each humongous level is a mini-open-world with tons of these choices. A lovely experience and I'm looking forward to the next new IP from Arkane, although I would gladly play another Dishonored if they found a way to do it.… Expand

Rich levels, new powers and the contracts system all contribute to an immersive adventure. Playing non-lethal and stealthy is as viable as it was in all the previous games in the series. Billie somewhat lax in customization compared to Corvo/Emily but she makes it up for it partially with the abundance of bone charms you encounter along the way which can be used to empower certain play stile.

    Though the Outsider's back story let me down a bit and in my opinion deserved more refinement, the game is developed with a lot of attention to detail and the zealous explorer is dully rewarded with enriched experience.    … Expand

This "game" is pretty much DLC for Dishonored 2, exactly how The Knife of Dunwall and The Brigmore Witches were DLCs for Dishonored. In terms of game mechanics, interface and design, the game is virtually identical to Dishonored 2. In fact, in some cases even limited. This means really good, because those things were nailed in D2, but there's just no progress that I'd expect from what is essentially marketed as a separate game. Level-wise it was extremely disappointing, with effectively only 3 new levels. They were fairly well-designed, but nothing outstanding like in D2, and they were mostly rather hollow, with random, very repetitive loot, and random, very repeatable enemies, most of both not actually contributing to the story in any way, but just acting as fillers. And finally, the writing in my impression was probably the dullest of the whole franchise, so much that I was glad when it was finally over.

    Recommended ONLY if you've played through D2 and are not yet sated.    … Expand
