Folks, Barotrauma is a very detailed game. It's suspense filled, has sudden horrific events that need to be resolved, lots of combat against Europa's monster population and a whole lot more. After adding in the sub design feature, the fan mods and the very detailed game world with slick game play how could you not give this title a two thumbs up. I would highly recommend this title, especially to those that enjoy playing online cooperative games with other human beings.

If you want to live out a larger than life sea story, Barotrauma is your game. Here, you’ll have your arrogant captains, jaded engineers, malpracticing doctors, epic adventures and a myriad dumb ways to die horribly. [Issue#262, p.66]

I probably admire Barotrauma more than I enjoyed it. I like the setting. The gameplay is very clever, even if it isn’t always exciting. I didn’t get a chance to get deep into co-op, but I can’t wait to try. It’s crazy to me that cooperative spaceship games aren’t an entire genre now, with dozens of indie games to compare. At the moment, Barotrauma may be one of the best trailblazers, giving inspirations for the developers of the future.

Barotrauma is an exciting, cooperative resource management game that is also captivating in Singleplayer thanks to its deep atmosphere.

Do not trust the Sea Monsters.
In this Video-game you are in a steamy submarine with others, sometimes alone due to circumstances or other reasons. It is a 2D submarine simulator in space with survival-horror elements, on Europa which is a moon, Europa is a moon of Jupiter. Humans first arrived on the moon in the early 21-st century they began to colonize the moon, and after some time they lost contact with earth and you start 50 years after the mysterious loss of contact. You are part of a submarine crew who decide to go deeper. There exists an option to enable Jovian Radiation.

Basic game-play: in this game you most likely if you are playing on the campaign go from outpost to another outpost. You are not alone. There are 6 classes which specialize in their fields but anyone can do each others job: Captain. Security Guard, Doctor, Engineer, Mechanic, Assistant. The sea monsters in the ocean see your submarine as a tasty snack, They will tear through many layers of Steel, and other things you upgrade your hull with. One way or another they will attempt to shred you and your submarine to pieces. You should defend your submarine, some massive sea monsters of hell occasionally decide to go from the deep dark ABYSS to go hunting and you may encounter them. If and when that happens you should load up your Nuclear shells and try to kill them before they kill you. Most of the times you try to complete missions for Money and experience.

Graphics and audio: The graphics are decent and it is a 2D game the textures are decent. The Audio of the game is good, and the music is kind of scary and alien-like. I do not have much comments about this section.

Storyline: The story line, you go deeper where you discover and explore it has a lot of variety. There is an end where you enter the ending location, I have not reached the end yet. There are 4 factions you can interact with and you gain reputation by doing missions and some missions you lose reputation with another faction. The factions are The Europa Coalition, Jovian separatists, Church of the Husk and The children of the clown mother. These factions have different goals.

Level design: The level design is procedurally generated, there are sea monsters within the levels, at the end of the level and start of the level there is always a start location and an end location, the end location is located on the sonar screen. I have no more comments about this section too.

Multiplayer: The most fun in this game probably will happen with friends or randoms in multiplayer. This may lead to some absolute hilarious moments or terrifying. You may be in the sub doing repairs to systems the next there might be a giant hole in the hull you need to fix due to the Assistant/local clown "accidentally" throwing a fragmentation grenade at someone and it exploding or some sea monster came in and now are ripping apart the whole crew as you watch. It is highly unpredictable of what your crew might do.

Performance: It has a pretty good performance for some and worse for others. I have no more significant notes about this.

Balance and pacing; The balance of this game is not heavily towards you and your fellow crew mates. the pacing sometimes may be slow and other times intense due to the creatures outside attempting to get in. One moment everything may be fine, the other some cultists you were transporting turned into zombies trying to infect you with a parasite known as the Husk. The calm before the storm, it normally is calm until something happens. You may be attacked by an abyssal creature and a few moments later you are at crush depth and you are trying to repair the sub in futility. If you reach crush depth, it is almost impossible to repair your submarine.

Final verdict: 10/10 one of the best video games I have played and fun. I would highly recommend this game to anyone. It is always better with friends or strangers then the AI. Remember to always keep an eye out, for any possible danger, from the outside and the inside too.

Conclusion: This is a very good video game, remember do not trust the Sea monsters. There may be some non-hostile sea monsters, they are the exception, the rule normally is shoot any big thing outside.

I managed to play this game back when it was in early access and well - this is good game.
I really liked this team spirit, created by different game roles (read as game classes), separating the areas of responsibility of different players and making each participant irreplaceable.
And I really liked this spirit of adventure when you don't know what to expect from the next cave or abandoned building.
In addition, the steam workshop, thanks to the cool community of this game, enriches the gameplay with all sorts of cool things.
If you are not confused by the graphics of this game - be sure to try to play it alone or in the company of good friends - you will not regret it.

While it attempts to create aBarotrauma falls short of expectations, despite its potential for enjoyment with friends or random players. While it attempts to create a horrifying atmosphere and chaotic missions, the overall experience leaves much to be desired. Instead of delivering intense encounters with aliens that tower over your imagination, it fails to evoke the intended fear.

The game's major flaw lies in the frustrating process of finding decent lobbies. It becomes a tedious task, requiring a significant investment of time to locate enjoyable multiplayer sessions. This issue significantly detracts from the overall experience and hampers the game's potential for fun.

Although Barotrauma has its merits, such as its potential for cooperative play, the lackluster execution prevents it from reaching its full potential. It's far from a perfect 10/10 game, and the substantial time investment required to find worthwhile lobbies further diminishes its appeal.
