The new Battlefield 1 DLC is a good one, with a solid collection of new, beautiful maps, especially the Verdun battle. It doesn't alter the core of the game, and it's not cheap, but if you loved the original game, there's no reason why you should skip this DLC.- The Games Machine

Despite appearances, Bears In Space is an FPS that knows what it's doing. Bullet hell and platforming, weapons to upgrade and secrets to find, madness galore, infernal boss fights and gameplay deviations, there really is a bit of everything in this bizarre Australian title which may not be perfect, but where it is written that a video game necessarly have to be one to be fun?- The Games Machine

F1 25 marks an improvement over the previous installment, featuring new content and a more in-depth My Team mode. The LIDAR scanning has made some tracks much more realistic, though the disparity with those that haven't been updated is noticeable. As for Braking Point, once again, the developers have opted for a highly dramatized approach to Formula 1, resulting in a simplistic and somewhat unrealistic narrative. The driving model remains largely unchanged, offering a good balance between arcade and simulation.- The Games Machine

The rating takes into account the absolute and undeniable value of Chrono Cross, an excellent role-playing game that everyone should experience. Unfortunately the operation of "rebirth" is not entirely successful due to some questionable choices, but the inclusion of the elusive Radical Dreamers contributes to a package that – especially at this price – must be a part of the cultural baggage of any fan of JRPG worthy of the name.- The Games Machine

For The King II perfects the winning formula of the first chapter by adding bonuses/maluses linked to positioning and some other pleasant innovations. The gameplay is improved and makes it a great starting point for those who have never played the IronOak franchise. It is not one of those sequels that shows off lots of new features, brilliant innovations or incredibly original ideas, quite the opposite: it is so anchored to its past that it also drags with it some of the defects of its predecessor.- The Games Machine

Stellar Blade is a video game that simply takes the best of many works, expanding the concepts in its own way. A kart game that challenges Mario Kart or Smash Bros. on floating vehicles? Kirby Air Riders has speed in its DNA and rewards the most skilled and patient players with tons of unlockable items. At the same time, however, the many facets of its playful soul risk being too much and confusing the “core” experience. Between dozens of mini-games, lightning-fast races, and boss battles with weapons, the game loses some of its focus but still remains a fun experience... especially in multiplayer.- The Games Machine

Watch Dogs: Legion starts with some really intriguing background ideas, ideas that try to dig deep and to leave us with many more questions about the near future. SCUM is an extremely technical sandbox survival game, focused on a detailed simulation of the human body and resource management. Set in a huge map, it offers advanced metabolism, thermoregulation and nutrition systems, which directly influence the character's performance and abilities. REPLACED offers gameplay that alternates between exploration, environmental puzzles, stealth, and combat—with the latter standing out as the most successful component. The combat system, simple and intuitive, evokes old-school arcade games: few commands, satisfying hit feedback, and encounters against multiple enemies that remain manageable and frustration-free. The platforming and stealth sections are less convincing, often feeling slow and lacking impact. The overall pacing suffers as a result, partly due to a certain "walking simulator" quality. Elevating the entire experience is the extraordinary graphics—among the finest 2.5D pixel art seen to date. Sunday Gold is a successful mix of a point and click adventure and a turn-based combat game, with a bit of role-playing. Taken individually, these three components would not be that memorable: puzzles can be solved by trial and error, shooting is not very varied, and character builds are quite simple. Combined, however, they represent a successful alchemy capable of transmuting not so precious metals into gold. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on Switch 2 is a surprisingly ambitious conversion, successfully bringing one of the most spectacular JRPGs of recent years to the Nintendo platform without compromising its identity. The visual presentation remains high-quality for a (even portable) console, the combat system is still brilliant today, and the content of the Intergrade version guarantees a complete package. On the other hand, the framerate locked at 30 fps represents a step backward that's difficult to ignore after experiencing the fluidity of the versions for inevitably more powerful systems, and the installation size—already significant on the original platforms, to be fair—is particularly noticeable on Switch 2. Finally, the strongly linear structure was already subject to criticism in 2020 and today inevitably appears more dated, especially when compared to the open spaces of Rebirth. It remains an excellent choice for those within the Nintendo ecosystem, but not the definitive version of the game.- The Games Machine

Though it undoubtedly belongs to the retro games strand, Casper Croes' relationship to nostalgia in the game is different from the more widespread one. In the case of Alisa, the past is understood not as an unattainable era of now, but as a model whose limitations can now be a challenge rather than an obstacle. The challenge is to recreate a game today that not only draws inspiration from Resident Evil, but also shares its technical characteristics, yet turns out to be palatable to modern gamers. The challenge can undoubtedly be said to have been met, thanks in part to the use of a good dose of (self)irony reminiscent of Lynch's.- The Games Machine

Chains of Freedom is a turn-based strategy with action elements and simplified tactical management that sits somewhere between XCOM and Jagged Alliance, while renouncing elements such as targeted headshots, stance and reaction fire. Alien crystals to equip offer variety, customization and a touch of build strategy. Spirit of the North 2 takes the contemplative experience of the first chapter, expanding it into a larger open world, full of biomes and secrets. Combat, quests and inventory are excellently replaced by exploration, environmental puzzles and an extraordinary artistic direction. The main novelty is the introduction of the crow, able to give wings to the fox, just like a famous drink. Atelier Yumia is a bold step forward for the series, embracing a more expansive open-world structure and a modernized combat system. The alchemy mechanics remain engaging, but the streamlined progression and reduced party interactions may not sit well with longtime fans. Visually, Gust has delivered its most polished Atelier yet, though the art direction leans towards the familiar. While the lower difficulty might divide opinions, the open-world exploration—clearly inspired by gacha-style games—adds a fresh dynamic without impacting core gameplay. Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster is a re-release that really does the bare minimum to justify the arrival of such an important title on high-resolution screens. Atlus has decided not to invest further time to improve and modernize the experience, forcing us to recommend the game only to those who do not own it in its original incarnation.- The Games Machine

Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree combines souls-like combat and Metroidvania structure in a layered, dark gothic world that's compelling, both artistically and in its setting. There are some technical issues, but it's a 2.5D adventure worth experiencing.- The Games Machine

Stasis: Bone Totem is a point-and-click graphic adventure that exploits the classic mechanics of the genre in a modern and appealing technical setting, although the game was made almost entirely by only two people. Its strength lies in its horror-tinged sci-fi atmospheres and in its narrative which presents interesting reflections on ethics and corporations. The writing style is verbose: this might be a limitation for some, but it is an indispensable ingredient in the creation of a world that winks at cosmic horror.- The Games Machine

GreedFall is a charming RPG with a beautiful setting and an engaging plot. It’s a bit rough on the edges, but it represents the pinnacle of Spiders’ productions so far, even if there’s still room for improvement.- The Games Machine

Necesse is fun little survival with light management mechanics: by starting a settlement we can invite NPCs to join it and delegate to them trivial tasks like cutting trees or gathering produce, while we dig through underground caves and fight huge bosses.- The Games Machine

The ports of Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light Redux on Switch are really surprising from a technical point of view. The gloomy and overwhelming feeling of the scenarios conflicts with the portability of the Nintendo console, but this should be considered as an invitation to play after dark...- The Games Machine

Although few titles in the collection can honestly still entertain today - in the meantime we have become accustomed to much more - rediscovering Jeff Minter's "woolly" games was a fun and very, very intriguing journey. Added to the nostalgia is the possibility of knowing completely unpublished details of the development, and this collection, very well done in terms of quantity and quality of the material proposed, has an indisputable historical value. A journey that is willingly retraced by reading, listening and playing. Especially playing.- The Games Machine

Cunningly exploiting its own limitations among which the technical ones stand out, Goat Simulator 3 is perfect for single player or even better in co-op fooling around, has a lot of crazy customizations and proves that the devs have truly given their best - or the worst, it depends on the point of view - of themselves.- The Games Machine

Prinny presents NIS Classics Volume 2 offers a more convincing selection of releases than its predecessor, making it a good purchase for those who want to get their hands on the old NIS classics. If you've spent countless hours playing the two games present at the time of their release, consider that the new features introduced (in this case Petta Mode, for the first time in the West) are not substantial enough to justify another playthrough, especially without the tools to fully enjoy them on high-definition screens.- The Games Machine

What a surprise Call of the Sea was! Out of the Blue’s debut title shows off its own well-defined personality through a very accurate artistic direction and attention to details. All puzzles have their own logic and the idea of proposing them in blocks, separating the adventure into sealed chapters, helps to focus attention on a limited number of elements. With its crazy atmosphere and an eight-hours duration, which prevents any kind of fatigue, Call of the Sea is a highly recommended game for adventure’s (and Lovecraft’s) lovers.- The Games Machine

Slave Zero In fact, this is what the project bases its roots on: the player's learning to strengthen themselves and improve their skills. It's a shame for the absence of an endgame, which could have really brought the score you see further down even higher.- The Games Machine

Achilles: Legends Untold is a good mix between RPGs with hack and slash action like Diablo and souls-likes in which every checkpoint is an achievement. The wide range of weapons, each with unique characteristics and combat styles, invite experimentation even to just see the animations of the protagonist as he crushes, kills and rips apart enemies. The story set in Greek mythology could only be interesting, and the fights are fun, even if some enemies appear out of the blue due to the absence of zoom. There are no classes - Achilles is Achilles! - but quite different builds can be created.- The Games Machine

Killing Time: Resurrected is the perfect combination of exploration and the latest shooting. Nightdive Studios has been able once again to improve a video game and make it enhanced, modernizing some things on the gunplay side and offering animations that are really beautiful to look at. The Town of Light is a heavy, emotionally-tough game, and it's definitely not for the faint-hearted. There are no monsters or jump scares, but a story so intense and cruel that is much more frightening. Nightreign offers hours of entertainment, frenetic battles, and spectacular boss fights to all players who are lucky enough to visit Limveld with two friends by their side, as well as the experienced Elden Ring veterans looking for a good challenge. The same cannot be said for those who have to find their allies through online matchmaking, due to an in-game communication system particularly inadequate for such a complex and punishing game.- The Games Machine

Evil Genius 2: World Domination is a competent sequel, even if it remains inferior in several respects to its direct predecessor. The gameplay formula has been modernized, but some features that made the first chapter a cult classic have been inexplicably removed. A shame because otherwise we would have had a real masterpiece in our hands, but several shortcomings and smudges make it “only” a good video game.- The Games Machine

LEGO Bricktales does only one thing, but it does it well: it allows you to play with LEGOs as you would do in your room, without placing constraints on your imagination. Its main limitation is a somewhat stubborn control system and a camera that is not easy to handle, but the final result repays the effort. The added value is a really appreciable technical compartment, which recreates small dioramas with enormous charm, based on historical LEGO sets that will lead to tears anyone who was young in the 80s/90s. It could mark the beginning of a new era for LEGO games, and that would be great news.- The Games Machine

The atmosphere of Metro Awakening is extraordinary, skilfully realised thanks to an absolutely fine setting and great care for tension. The linearity of the path and a certain repetitiveness of generally already seen mechanics risk trivialising the whole thing, also in the light of the not exactly low price. If you are able to turn a blind eye, however, you will be rewarded by a plot worth experiencing, especially if you love the dystopia created by Dmitry Glukhovsky.- The Games Machine

Keeper is a poetic puzzle adventure in which you play as a sentient lighthouse who, with the help of Twig, explores a mutating island. The goal is to dispel the darkness by harnessing his own light and, above all, his unwavering determination. Without words or death, without real obstacles or elaborate puzzles, the game focuses entirely on atmosphere, metamorphosis, and visual appeal. The gameplay, basic in terms of puzzles, revolves around the beam of light and Twig's contextual action, intentionally keeping it light and uncomplicated in terms of challenge, instead pushing more convincingly on emotion, the power of images, and free interpretation.- The Games Machine
