The players will venture through many unwelcoming locations, battling legendary creatures and trying to piece up the story of the world. The game is a bit lighter on the "souls" side, as the studio wanted to create an easy-to-learn but hard to master experience. Because of that, Achilles: Legends Untold may be enjoyed by the souls veterans and new players alike. And if help is needed, just summon your friends to play together in jolly cooperation, and explore various dungeons together. Expand

Achilles: Legends Untold is a good mix between RPGs with hack and slash action like Diablo and souls-likes in which every checkpoint is an achievement. The wide range of weapons, each with unique characteristics and combat styles, invite experimentation even to just see the animations of the protagonist as he crushes, kills and rips apart enemies. The story set in Greek mythology could only be interesting, and the fights are fun, even if some enemies appear out of the blue due to the absence of zoom. There are no classes - Achilles is Achilles! - but quite different builds can be created.

A pleasant surprise. It's not usual action RPG, it's a nice fusion of two genres that we could briefly describe as Diablo with Souls elements. It works, it's fun, it has style.

Achilles: Legends Untold is an absolutely good game. It has a very interesting idea, and ideas nowadays are valued even more than the quality of the product itself, the game has a good leveling system, and battles can (albeit rarely) be a real pleasure (yes, I'm talking about cutting through a crowd of skeletons). But it needs a lot of polishing, and I'm not talking in technical terms, but in gameplay terms

If we weren't going through a period where Game of the Year nominations are being throwed at us in bulk, I'd say give it a chance, but I'm sure there are other games you should be playing.

Achilles: Legends Untold feels like an unfinished product still working through Early Access. Combat balance and the limited amount of loot would be at the top of my list that needs improvement. You could follow that up with a wider variety of boss fights, a deeper crafting experience, and the writing and voice acting are marginal at best; maybe double down on the writing staff and cut out the voiceover altogether if there isn’t enough budget to do both well.

It’s fun to kill a few hours and hack your way through the underworld but it is hardly something I will return to.

Achilles: Legends Untold is a flat and all too easy action game. The entire adventure is basically one long wave of enemies that are sent at us or against whom we are sent. We run around, killing everything again and again while the plot goes on without a flourish. The whole package lacks variety and originality. Even the subject, Ancient Greece, is used superficially.
