Green Hell is a wild and spectacular indie survival because there is so much to do and a lot to risk at every step. It has intriguing mechanics, solid gameplay and extreme realism that blend well with the deadly Amazonian context, forcing the player to engage himself to not dying every 15 minutes. Some minor bugs and technical issues cannot ruin one of the most exciting experiences on the survival scene.- The Games Machine

Wild Hearts is an innovative, interesting hunting game that manages to make sense of the mass genocide committed by hunters. Net of a few camera flaws and a few too many reskin, it's a very good game that brings a breath of fresh air to a genre that is a little too scared of the shadow of Monster Hunter.- The Games Machine

Theoretically, the idea of turning this edition of PES into a simple update is a good idea. Last year’s football season went totally crazy, the two tournament seasons almost overlapped and the pandemic stopped or slowed down videogame development for a long time. Focusing on next year’s game still seems a good choice, and it would be even better if Konami tried to dedicate the least amount of commitment to this update, which it didn’t. The absence of even a partial roster update update on day one is unacceptable, as is the ugliness of the Inter and Milan uniforms, even for a game that is still the best option for any football lover.- The Games Machine

WWE 2K23 builds on the excellent foundation laid with the last edition of the game and moves forward a small step. The new features are limited, but they go a long way toward filling the gaps in WWE 2K22, for example with a significantly larger roster (nearly 200 wrestlers in total). The show stealer is undoubtedly the Showcase mode focused on John Cena and his (rare) defeats The experience overall is good, but the feeling is that little has been done to offer anything really new, merely tweaking the winning product of 22.. Wuchang: Fallen Feathers isn't a soulslike without its problems, quite the opposite. And that's a shame, because despite all these issues, the game is convincing: the combat is fun, the setting is appealing, it can be spectacular without overdoing it, and it's also quite long. But then you fall to the floor and get a few extra slaps, you die to a boss and have to walk all the way back, you enter a room and find yet another stupid enemy hidden in a vase, and well, a lot of the charm is lost.- The Games Machine

Chicken Police: Paint It Red proves you can create a smart, original game even by putting together pieces of 40’s noir movies with old point&click adventures and painting it all in cool B&W visual style. The smart move is adding animals to the equation: grumpy roosters and sexy cats lead to sharp dialogues and funny wordplay, while at the same time showing what is wrong in human nature. The plot may not be the most original, but Chicken Police is definitely worth playing.- The Games Machine

ROUTINE is a game that thrives on atmosphere rather than mechanics, on suggestion rather than surprise. It's an old-fashioned, almost artisanal horror game that enchants and captivates with its retro-space aesthetic and the suspended melancholy that only empty spaces can evoke. There are limits, tangible and recognizable, but this is a project that has chosen a risky but decidedly personal path: it's not perfect, but it's hard to forget.- The Games Machine

Cities: Skyline II expands, refines, simplifies and complicates where necessary the legacy of the first chapter, but right now it is above all a vision. Iron Marines Invasion is a Real Time Action Strategy that despite offering a casual approach, with very few options compared to most popular RTSs, manages to provide an excellent level of challenge. Colorful and fast-paced, with missions that hardly last more than ten minutes, it entices you to experiment thanks to the ability to change troops on the fly, although after a couple of defeats you will already know which soldiers to start with. A pleasant confirmation that even games initially designed for smartphones can be appealing on PC. Those looking for hardcore strategy, however, will prefer to skip it.- The Games Machine

Howl is a puzzle game in which planning your moves and predicting the consequences play the lion's share. Keeping enemies' reactions in mind for the next six turns can prove very challenging, although with the assisted mode or a healthy dose of trial and error you will be able to complete all sixty levels in two or three evenings. The darkly grim story, medieval setting, and distinctive graphics make this a thoroughly interesting game. Planet Coaster 2 suffers from sequel syndrome: the original Planet Coaster eight years after its release is still a benchmark of the genre and it is difficult to do better. Planet Coaster 2 tries by adding water attractions that significantly expand the possibilities offered to the player. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is a game that exists in constant tension between what it is and what it could have been. It has moments where it recaptures the rarefied atmosphere of its predecessors, recovering that sense of isolation, wonder, and discovery that defined the series, but it quickly stumbles over choices that dilute its rhythm and identity. It's a chapter that's enjoyable to play and, in more than one instance, truly shines. Yet it never quite manages to shake off the feeling of having been held back, polished, and constrained by timid decisions, perhaps a legacy of an overly complicated development process. It's not the chapter that will mark a new direction, but neither is it a bitter disappointment. It's a game suspended between ambition and caution, imperfect but sincere, that deserves a chance: when Beyond finds its voice, even if only for a moment, it still reminds us why Metroid is Metroid.- The Games Machine

A narrative adventure that plunges you into the heart of a desperate world, teetering on the brink of collapse. It is up to you to decide its fate through actions and decisions that will shape not only your own future but also that of the players who follow in your footsteps. Once again, DigixArt proves itself remarkably adept at storytelling and at placing the player at the center of an extremely intriguing gameplay concept—one that, unfortunately, lacks the necessary depth to become a new benchmark for the genre. There's little you can do about it: the first two Dragon Quest games fail to offer the variety and inventiveness of the third installment, rightly considered one of the fathers of modern Japanese role-playing games. The remake makes a commendable effort to enrich the original formula, but it can't work miracles: although expanded, the storylines remain simple, and the combat system (especially in the first installment) is often overshadowed by grind sessions and rather exhausting random encounters. However, the additions are numerous and well-thought out, and will make veterans happy. The HD-2D style remains in splendid form, accompanied by a historical soundtrack that fully conveys the atmosphere of the era. Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake thus proves to be a solid restoration, suspended between fidelity to the past and a desire for renewal. Limited by its source material, but precisely for this reason, fascinating: a perfect window into an era, finally re-proposed in its most accessible and carefully preserved version.- The Games Machine

Trails Through Daybreak is a rather classic role-playing game and will delight Nihon Falcom fans, if only to inaugurate yet another narrative strand in a now endless dynasty. The combat system isn't quite as polished as the one seen in Trails of Cold Steel, however, and the plot likes to keep the pace a bit too slow, but as a start there's nothing to complain too much about, thanks also to the charisma of a protagonist like Van and an intriguing game world as only Falcom is capable of creating.- The Games Machine

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun is a solid boomer shooter whose service honors the Emperor, and will certainly be very welcome by those who have been waiting for a 40k FPS since Fire Warrior. However, while it doesn’t have any significant flaw it also never really excels.- The Games Machine

A work as simple and fascinating as it is effective and powerful. Andrea finds himself experiencing himself in the eyes and behaviors of others within a powerful narrative adventure that brings to the table the hardships and problems of Generation Z. A concrete and successful test, in our opinion.- The Games Machine

This second DLC isn't for those dreaming of epic battles, frenetic pace, or pitched warfare across the lands of medieval Bohemia. There's a more intimate nuance to what happens in the forge; between working at the anvil and filing, there's time to delve into a part of Henry that deserves to be explored. The same way the brave young man devotes himself to his father's trade, a craft he must learn to honor his late parent's memory, but also to build a genuine fortune, as well as a refuge for his weary limbs and tormented soul.- The Games Machine

Hyrule Warriors Legends is a good representative of the musou genre, even in the solid library of musou titles available on Nintendo 3DS. If you already played the Wii U version, you'll find enough improvements here to keep you entertained.- The Games Machine

ScourgeBringer is a beautiful game, that combines an inspired pixel art with a very entertaining gameplay. Unfortunately, the limits of its low-budget nature tend to become apparent after a couple hours of play, when the poor variety starts to sink in.- The Games Machine

Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain is a splendid puzzle game that suffers from a certain repetitiveness and finds its reason for existence in the race for the highest score. I'd definitely recommend it to gamers with a family who loves the idea of using video games to spend a few evenings playing together.- The Games Machine

Sometimes, less is more. Chronicle of Innsmouth: Mountains of Madness is a game that knows its limits and strives to do its best with the resources it has. The story is short, but well written and fascinating, the English acting is good and background illustrations are often inspiring. Considering that the team is small and so was the budget, their work deserves to be praised.- The Games Machine

MLB The Show 22 is a great game. It is fun, full of options and with a gameplay studied to meet everyone's needs without distorting the essence of baseball. At the same time, it is also almost identical to its predecessor, with only some minor changes and adds-on that are not too surprising. For this reason, if for those who want to pitch, hit and run for the first time it is an unmissable event, the same cannot be said for the veterans of the series. If you belong to this category, personal interest and passion come into play, as well as the desire to return to live a gaming experience similar in all aspects to the past one.- The Games Machine

Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered is an extremely valid title that continues the idea carried out by the previous collector: to recall memories and introduce the first Lara Croft games to very young people. Accessible just enough, the aesthetic modernization is well done and pleasant to look at, apart from some small problems with the lighting. The rest of the package is about taking measures with the type of games and their release period. For everyone, but even more so, for incurable romantics it is something to absolutely have.- The Games Machine

Vicarious Visions did a great job in preserving the original vibe of the Bandicoot saga while giving a brand new contemporary look to the games. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is a great journey through the PSX age without the aging effect, and it's a solid comeback for Crash. The three platform games are still fun today, and Warped is as amazing as it was almost 20 years ago. Maybe the design of the first, iconic, chapter is a little bit old-fashioned, but overall the collection has a great value both for nostalgic players and newcomers.- The Games Machine

Some extra content wouldn't have sucked in addition to 4K, 60fps and New Game+, features that are welcome anyway. Playing Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, however, one gets the impression that the light technical dusting is not a matter of laziness, but rather of necessity turned into virtue. Behind a refresh that still doesn't hurt, in fact, there may be the awareness that touching up more deeply the technical foundations of an action-adventure with a powerful artistic direction and a crazy, visionary, deliberately exaggerated and grotesque style, would have turned out to be an unforgivable own goal. And now, thanks to this remastered, we all know what Garcia Hotspur is capable of doing for one mistake too many.- The Games Machine

Green Hell VR is a great survival game also in virtual reality for PC, certainly one of the best. The interactions are less accurate and responsive than those in the excellent version for Quest 2, but overall the audiovisual impact balances these differences and offers one of the most vivid "wilderness" settings ever seen in VR.- The Games Machine

The developers of Battlefleet Gothic: Armada openly wanted to create a videogame with a feeling as close as possible to the original board game, and to that extent, their goal is achieved. The single player campaign feesl a little bit repetitive from time to time, but overall, fans of strategy games and Warhammer 40.000 will be more than pleased.- The Games Machine

Sackboy: A Great Adventure is perhaps the real surprise of the PS5 debut. A solid platformer as expected from Sumo, which knows where to draw inspiration from and how to reinvent it, as if they were true game design restorers. Simple and very smooth from start to finish, but a good challenge to bring to full completion, with all its collectibles and challenges that enhance a level design that is not at all trivial and that always strives to do something different to make each stage a unique gaming experience.- The Games Machine
