    In a year of great releases, Ghost Song stands apart as one of the best. It was a fantastic adventure from start to finish. If you have played and enjoyed Metroid Dread and are looking for something to tie you over as you wait for Silk Song, Ghost Song will take you on a journey that will amaze and surprise you.

    Ghost Song doesn’t try to reinvent the Metroidvania genre, but neither does it clutter it up with extra mechanics for the sake of complexity. It’s approachable but challenging. What it lacks in originality is made up for by attractive art, good level design and overall, addictive fun.

    Ghost Song is a love letter to metroidvania genre with a huge map, so big that even the portion that can be immediately visited could almost represent a complete game. The game features an excellent graphic design, albeit with improvable animations, and an interesting story to follow despite starting with a little delay. The soulslike component makes things as hard as expected, and while it might annoy players who don't like repeating the same section again and again, it's part of the game. Definitely recommended for those who love exploration, too bad for the limited support for keyboard / mouse combo.

    Ghost Song is a very enjoyable addition to the Metroidvania subgenre. It maybe lacks a little bit of originality to help it stand out from its contemporaries in a rather crowded market, but the game does provide a very enjoyable experience. With an atmosphere and story that are haunting and interesting to explore, there are plenty of reasons to delve into the dangerous world of Ghost Song.

The game's lonely atmosphere in charged with the kind of indie charm that made classics like Cave Story, To The Moon, and Frog Fractions so memorable and characterful, while the vast world to explore satisfies the Metroidvania itch with carefully guided precision. Like many of the greats in the genre (especially in years past), the core experience doesn't demand more than a dozen hours, but I suspect it's one that will bear revisiting in years to come.… Expand

The writing and dialogue are so well done that I found myself very emotional and connecting to the characters in ways I wasn't expecting. Everything feels very human and like something that would actually be said, that coupled with the Art, music and the environments all comes together to give you an amazingly immersive experience you won't want to put down. Combat is fun and engaging, while also giving you the flexibility to play how you like whether you want to just blast things from afar or send a mini slime army to destroy your enemies there's. If you enjoy metroidvanias or just want to experience something new and fresh to the gaming scene I highly recommend Ghost Song… Expand

The various characters you encounter feel very human and entice you to seek out more encounters across the map to understand more lore and subtle personal relationships. Music is also fantastic and art design is stellar! The world itself feels alive and at times the ground even feels like it's breathing itself. Solid 10-15 hour first play through and with a killer NG+ that I'm still struggling on beating.… Expand

Only downside was fast travel disabled and had to backtrack when MINOR SPOILER bringing back ship parts. Luckily doesn’t take too long to do it.
